How To Paint Water ~ 5 easy steps to realistic water!

Hi everyone, you are watching an in depth tutorial of how to paint water. Let me show you step by step, how to: colour mixing, highlights and shadows, brushstrokes and the easy steps to creating a realistic looking painting of water that sparkles! Follow along with the colours and brushes I’m using or feel free to choose your own :)

Titanium white
Neon yellow warm 
Sap green
Ultramarine blue
Black
Phthalo blue
Brushes:
Liner- long for highlights on the water

This is one of the best tutorials ever. Thank you. while watching, after a while I had to get up and step back from the screen to get the full effect of the painting. Then I could see much better. In the 1990's I painted on clothes and airbrushed. I'm so glad I save all my brushes and my air compressor and airbrush pens.

This has been very helpful. I would love to see how to create the kind of water seen inside grottos with glowing colors like the bright blue. They tend to be calmer water but my interest is mostly in the glowing effect of the waters. I think it is lighting added however I would like to paint it.

This is so beautiful and so realistic to me.. it reminds me of when I would paddle a little far out on my race SUP board after training. I would lay down on my back and just listen to the waves slap against my board, smell the salt water and I would turn my head and watch all the light and colors dance on the water. That was my happy place.. I miss it.. unfortunately lupus took that away but you just took me back to my happy place for little bit. Thank you..
