Hi Albon
At 4:02, the source you cite about the EV range issue only applies in -20F weather. March is not producing that low of a temperature in the US. The COLDEST states during the entire cannon ball run will only be at a LOW of like, 40F in March, well within the operational temperature for an EV. Come on man. You tried to claim unbiased research to get out of that too.
Fantastic video and great ad placement.

Yep when there were barely any proper roads

That means by record standards of today, he would've averaged 60 miles an hour with no technology, no gps, and yeah, barely any road network. Both he and the car would've looked like a hot mess at the finish!

You caught me good in that smooth transition into the AD spot. A very relevant AD in the middle of the video bringing more context to the content instead of completely ruining the video and the train of thought! This is the only right way to do mid-video sponsors! 👏👏👏
Seriously! @ 4:15 it was so smooth it became the only AD I’ve ever screenshotted to look into further
Came here to say the same
Did they say,”Free?”😅
I hear a lot of the covid runs will not necessarily count or be footnoted as such... But it's unlikely those runs will be beat until the next pandemic
You mean Plandemic
they should be
Until the next pandemic?? 😮😮😮
@@ClinicalDecisionYikesYT He is right, because when the roads are empty you can set incredible record and you can't beat it in the normal days even with Ferrari while there is a mindnumbingly big traffic. It is just not possible.

@@tomp_ that’s just an odd time measurement to use. You mean weeks?
You have done a great job narrating the history of the Cannon Ball Run , well worth a listen. Thanks
The narration is good, oddly the subtitles have additional interesting information that was apparently cut out
i watched cannonball as a kid with my dad, ive always wanted to drive NYC to LA under 24 hours. But damn such an insane run which probably wont be toppled for a few years
The speeds you need to go on the long straight-aways are actually wild. 160 being the minimum its insane.
@@jestershyper exactly, maintaining 160 for that long is just mind boggling to me
Lol it could've been done since the 80s and certainly during the 90s, but none of those who have embarked on the challenge have gone further than lightly modifying mass production cars. It's all about power to weight and they keep choosing the heaviest cars possible.
3200 miles / 24 hours = 133mph average.
But, when you get stuck in denser traffic, you'll have to make up all the time spent below 133mph on longer straightaways. And these days, with as much traffic as we have now, I'd say that those records likely won't be broken.
I don't know, maybe if there's another lockdown(probably won't be). They got stuck in traffic, like... they never heard of traffic cams?
Literally NFS The Run.
@@MayoTheNnaise ah fuck, sorry.
The Run was inspired by the Cannonball Run, so yeah, the story of the game was purposely made to imitate it. In the main version, you can even see your average speed in each event (according to reviews and footage, i only played the Wii version)
EDIT: i played it recently and yes it does show average speed + a timer that shows your collective time of all stages, meaning that you can set times for the entire run, even though it's broken into chapters and stages
Yeah there is a connection there. But NFS The Run is Cannonball Run but with a different storyline.
@@maverickphantom005 we can only imagine if somebody makes it happen in real
What console was that on? I don’t remember that on PS2 I thought I had all of them
Say what you will about the Pandemic but I miss how open the roads were. As a car enthusiast and someone who genuinely feels more at home behind the wheel, it was awesome basically having the roads to yourself at times.

What a good and smooth transition to that AD. Best I've seen so far.
One thing I’m surprised no one is talking about is how the cars didn’t break down at high rpms for that long
Ngl them German cars were made to work better when the full potential is being pushed then jus normal driving
@@FatBoiiDaniel1600 yeah I have a bmw e60 530 I wonder how long it could last at like 5k rpm’s 145 mph
The E63 actually went on limp mode cause of bad gas.
Because they’re proper machines, not the so called automobiles they produce in america lmao
In Germany there are highways without speed limits. You can go how fast you want and the cars for that market ... they need to survive those kind of rides.
So no worries about that, German's car can handle top speed drive for a really long time and no break down.
I’m kinda glad this isn’t a super popular thing. Not because it’s a cool thing to know about, but because this truly is one of the most dangerous things you could do. Obviously if you’re trained professionals and are good at what you do, you’ll be much safer. Being said, I could see too many amateurs trying this and ending before making it to the finish line. Worse yet, ending someone else’s life.
How does one even become a trained professional at cannonball driving?
@@sartorialdriver6528 rally driving? Race car driving? Elite driver training perhaps? I think the comment means, just your average driver who thinks they’re a great driver but makes all kinds of tiny mistakes without even knowing it. Now the how to hold your piss that long, or not take a shit for 2 days is another question of training 😄
@@citythink I used to race against pro Indy drivers and I hardly think any motorsports skills would translate into being a better cannoball driver. I think the skills here lie in coordinaiton, intuition, communication, and technology rather than any advanced level of driving skill.
@@sartorialdriver6528 Don't forget stamina. Going that fast for that long leads to tiring out quickly or, worse, not giving appropriate attention to your surroundings.
It's really rather immaterial how well trained a driver you are when you are operating in an environment chock full of absolutely unskilled, unconcerned, clueless drivers and wildlife.

that sponsor part was smooth, you caught me off guard!
One of the best ive seen in a while
There was a sponsor?
ikr I was about to say how nobody noticed it, it was so smooth
Proper advertising
It's not good, it's deceptive. You don't even know you're being advertised to...
that was a smooth transition to the ad, hats off to you🙌
Bro, im not even complaining here, the transition into the sponsor was so smooth i didnt realize it until you said where to find it
Accurate history, great clips, and interesting story telling. Awesome job man. Thanks for getting it right.
a few mistakes were made. I listed them above
I still want to do a German version of this with a twist: Going from Kiel to Munich as fast as possible - WITHOUT breaking traffic laws. Large stretches of no speed limit should make this easier, but it would be its own little challenge.
lol easy mode....do it with police and speed cameras in place that's actual cannonball run
The issue is that the more developed European countries are full of speed cameras and other speed limit enforcing tools. I'd recommend trying something like this in Eastern Europe instead.
@@fatfalcon3434 However, they are easy to avoid as they are usually tracked by other drivers and you can find out their location via an app, radio or the internet. The only danger might be an unmarked police car, but they are easy to spot. A cannonball run on a Sunday in Germany would be unfairly easy because there is almost no traffic due to truck restrictions.
Yes sir, this would be a lot of fun. Especially if German police latches onto you! 😃
I want to see a European version where they go from the top of Europe to the bottom of Europe. Or from the far west side of Europe to the far east side of Europe, but that would be hard to do with the war.
Damn what an insane story and such a fun watch, AMAZING story telling, really well done , great stuff!
i’m subbing just for the simple fact of how smooth the transition into the ad was. I genuinely did not realize i was watching an ad till you said it at the end. extremely well put together and informative video.
it sounded kinda luke an ad and i looked in the description
You want to be tricked into watching ads?
How does that boot taste?
3:05 watch the steering wheel. After the truck hit it, the car was pushed left and then it self corrected by turning the wheel hard to the right in order to get it back to the side of the freeway. Incredible!
Awesome observation
I noticed that too! That was crazy! The technology in cars now is so impressive
It’s called German engineering get in a pos Japanese or Korean car you’ll spin out and crash when your ball joint snaps
Isn't that just a proper alignment?
@@FreshieAlbanianis German engineering why there always in the shop?
Man your channel brings stories i have never heard of. thank you for the education you put out there for new drivers.
I was just expecting footage from the team and then blasting at 175mph, but this was even better! Great vid
New subscriber…you are very easy to listen to when narrating. Plus, you are not a bot! Keep up the great work. 🇺🇸
The only way that a sub 24hour run could be achieved would be by hiring out sections of the highway where the most traffic accumulates so that the car could blast through those sections (but it’s too expensive and complicated to do)
Honestly id call that cheating though
The biggest traffic areas would be leaving Manhattan, and entering LA. If you leave Manhattan at 3 AM (midnight in LA) you would hypothetically get to the outside of LA around 11 PM which would greatly reduce traffic in those areas.
@@ollelundin3701There's never a rule stating it has to be "authentic" conditions with traffic, roadwork, idiots, etc. It's "who can take a car across the country the fastest". Sure, "unsportsmanlike" maybe, because it would make the record untouchable, but well within the rules.
cones and roadwork signs, or who knows? as much will go in to navigating/manipulating a route as the car itself
If you’re rich enough like Bezos rich you could pay everyone in NY & LA to stay home for one day lmao 😂
man you're an amazing story teller. had me hooked the entire time!
I did Massachusetts to San Diego, which is slightly longer on both ends, but otherwise a similar trip, in right around 72 hours back in 2001, three days after 9-11. By myself, with no technological assists, superfast car or excessive speeding. Just lots of focused driving in my '95 Pontiac Grand Am, and typically 1-2 hour naps day or night, whenever I got too tired to continue.
Lol you were slower than the two way record.
@@JorgeChavez-du5vm congratulations, you completely missed the point.
@@Mechaneer Lol do you work in a movie theater because if you don't you should consider it since you're very proficient at projecting.
Amazing video, great production, very well presented. Thanks
The Covid lockdown was something we probably won't experience for another 20 years, it was definitely the time to do any records. I remember ripping down the the highway up here in Minnesota, swear I was going 140 for about an hour, there wasn't a single vehicle the whole time.
You mean the stupidest thing in modern history will happen again in 20 years ? Holy shit I hope I'm dead by then.
I spent majority of the pandemic going 120-130 home from work at 4-5am. I would get home in 15mins versus 30+ if I was to drive normal. But now I have a 2 year old and I can’t see myself driving that fast anymore. The most I do now is maybe 90-100 for a short period or if I’m going on a long trip.
For another 20 years? Hahahahaha
