When she said it's not up to her standard to sell. Little did she know that a lot of people would die to have that in their home. It's a great makeover LOVED IT
What a reveal! That dresser is crazy handsome! You took a big yawn piece of furniture and turned it into surprise party exciting. The deep rich green, the warmed honey tone of the base, combined with the copper jewelry transformed that bland piece into mid-century marvelous! Well done!
I really loved the style of filming on this video. I also loved learning how to grain fill! What a great trick. The transformation was great and it is definitely a to a higher standard than you felt at the end. I hope you sell it for a nice profit.
Christina,it always shocks me how the transformation occurs, i know it’s not as quick and easy as the videos show,, but its amazing and it does not matter how many of your videos i have watched, i am still blown away each time 👏👏👏
You don’t need to do pilot holes, but definitely clamp the pieces together (highly recommend the right angle ones to keep it square!). For added strength you can also add wood glue between the two pieces. 💙
Not perfect? Looks pretty dang good to me! This is one of my favorite transformations I've seen you do! Love that you stepped outside the box and thank you for always encouraging us furniture artists to do the same! Love love love!
WOW! That green is amazing! Paired with the wood legs, it make that dresser very snazzy looking. I love making over wood furniture, but it wasn't until you ladies started your lessons on better ways to do things that I really got excited. Thanks to you and all your fellow ladies for the excellent tutorials.
Thank you Christina for sharing in your DIY Wife Challenge with this piece. The Collard Greens DIxie Belle Colour is superb and so pleased I have discovered this as I have the perfect piece to paint with it for my very first Chalk Paint project. It turned out beautifully with the hardware and red oak legs. Full marks and a tiger stamp for you for creating this lovely makeover! Also thanks to you and Dixie Belle Paints for offering another competition for us furniture and chalk paint lovers! :::SmileS::: Mary-Kate :-)
We are our own worst critics, it looks great!! I've had a kreg jig sitting unopened in my garage for over a year. I think I have the perfect piece I am going to try this on!
Big Mama's Butta? Exactly what l need to nourish and restore the wood beams in my home. Ty for all the tips using Dixie Bell's products and brushes - that wax brush is mine! As a former filmmaker, l really appreciated the innovative camera angles and editing. As a woman, loved you at the helm of the power tools. Well done you! 💖
I’ve never seen someone use Big Mamas Butta as a topcoat/wax alternative, super interesting! It gave it a lovely satin glow. Love the pulls that you chose, it ties the base in perfectly and I think the whole thing looks sleek and modern. Yay for stepping out of comfort zones!
I’ve watched this video a few times now (it pops up in my feed every so often) catch something new to try each time. The big take away this time (besides this stunning transformation) is the filling the wood grain AND using Dixie Mud to do it! I’ve seen a few people do this and can never remember how, so I’m saving this video. I have a solid oak hutch to paint and the big reason I haven’t done it yet is the water based paint (using all Dixie Belle) “raising the grain”. So thank you for this tip/technique (and the many others in this video).💜
I've loved the look of that base ever since I saw Andrea do it on her channel. I want to try it, but that would involve buying a miter saw, kreg jig, clamps, etc. lol
I appreciate your high standards, but the whole makeover was fabulous. From the new base to the color to the hardware. Thank you for being brave enough to share your insecurities with us and inspiring us to work outside our comfort zones.
Love watching the ladies use power tools for these makeovers, gives me confidence. And my daughter and I would really like to try Dixie Belle products, she started making over furniture to resell about a year ago, keep the videos coming!
Christina this looks a million dollars, don’t be so hard on yourself. I would love to have this or any of your pieces in my home. I have almost been binge watching your videos, your work is amazing. I love how the wax brings out the colour in the red oak it matches your drawer hardware perfectly.
I think you did a great job, especially being the first time. And yes, clamps will be your best friend in screwing the pieces together when using pocket holes.
Loads of prep and building it better but, Soo worth it. Gorgeous makeover Christina! I've see someone else try this tutorial and it looks pretty straight forward. I think if I find the right piece I would totally try it too. Beautiful color!
Your transformation of this piece is A-MAZING! The color is beautiful, but I think anything green is perfect.👌 You should be proud. Enjoy your life, Cheryl
So beautiful, as all of your pieces are. Using the mud to fill the grain and then Big Mama’s Butta to finish were great tips. Just finished a couple of nightstands and will use BMB to finish. Can’t wait to try it.
Wow Christina, you did a great job on the build. I love how you clamped your wood before cutting at your miter saw so you could keep your free hand by your side, brilliant! I didn't know about doing the grain fill with a thin mud. Today I learned I can do the base build too, just need more Kreg screws. Great job today, it was fun seeing you so excited!!🌷
Wow! I’m so impressed. You are very brave to tackle something new and outside your comfort zone. I’m just starting out and you have inspired me. Thank you.
This is perfect! I've got a *very* short but long bookcase that my Mom made years ago and I've been trying to figure out how to raise it up to make it more practical. Another project for my 'to do' list!
Awesome transformation! Color is great & love the drawer pulls. As always great inspiration you never disappoint. Thanks for sharing all your ups & downs...and keeping it real! Definitely want to try Dixie Belle's Big Momma's Butta someday the orange sounds amazing!
I love this transformation! Christina, every time I watch your videos I learn something new. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge and tips. This piece looks amazing!
Great color you are using. I like it a lot. 8:50 I would like to recommend always fix the wood you are cutting In that position, the saw could kick back.
Hi Christina! I've always shied (RAN) away from green paint, but your dresser looks so good that I'm tempted to try it on a small project. Thanks for your inspiration!
How could this not be up to your standards! It came out so pretty. I'm sure you will nit have any trouble selling it. I have a piece I'm working on and I am going to try the diy base to see if I can do it
You rock, as per usual--I wish I had more room in my house to keep the stuff you've taught me how to do. I want to replace everything I own with re-born MCM pieces! :)
Great job. Since first seeing the base and others using it I was not a big fan. However, the base looks awesome on this piece. Thank you for showing this beautiful piece.
I don't think I'm quite ready to build that base. Nor do I have the tools to do it! That color isn't something I thought I would like, but...WOW! I really do like it a lot!!
I think it came out beautifully! That color is amazing. I have never used mud before so seeing you fill in the grain using that method was a new one for me. Such a good idea when doing a more modern piece😊
I have several pieces that need updated and everything I am learning I have learned through your videos. You have made it easier and so much fun. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. This one is absolutely beautiful. You an inspiration for all of us.
Great information on watering down the Dixie Mud to fill in the wood. Never knew that could be done. This piece turned out amazing and I love the addition to the bottom. The natural color on the bottom looks great. This definitely was a huge change in a not so pretty piece of furniture to a modern work of art. Thanks for a great video !!
Hi Cristina wow this piece is goooorgeous you did good you did an amazing job the base ,draws ,pulls and of corse colour and finish is absolutely flawless I love t h e colour you chose and I love the base you made keeping it natural just looks like it's meant for this piece ,I really enjoy your video's thanks for sharing all the best Mary in Australia 🌻

That's awesome!! Thank you so much!!
When she said it's not up to her standard to sell.
Little did she know that a lot of people would die to have that in their home. It's a great makeover LOVED IT
I LOVE this transformation!!! The color and pulls are so good, and way to go building the base for the first time!
DIY wife bases are next level 👀
I love all your projects. God bless and keep up the beautiful work.
I’m floored by the effect that wax has on the oak! It makes the oak match the pulls, it perfectly sets off the green… Stunning.
What a reveal! That dresser is crazy handsome! You took a big yawn piece of furniture and turned it into surprise party exciting. The deep rich green, the warmed honey tone of the base, combined with the copper jewelry transformed that bland piece into mid-century marvelous! Well done!
Christina you didn't give yourself enough credit, that piece turned out beautiful.
I really loved the style of filming on this video. I also loved learning how to grain fill! What a great trick. The transformation was great and it is definitely a to a higher standard than you felt at the end. I hope you sell it for a nice profit.

This is my favorite piece yet!!! I audibly gasped when I saw it at the end! I hope you sold this piece because it is so special!
I have a matching chest of drawers and never in a million years thought you could modernize the rounded oak edges. Gorgeous!!
WOW! That green is amazing! Paired with the wood legs, it make that dresser very snazzy looking. This turned out amazing!! I love that green colour, and the contrast with the natural wood legs and the gold hardware looks so good!
I only recently started furniture flipping as a side hustle while being a stay at home mom but building a base is a great idea to transform a piece!
I've loved the look of that base ever since I saw Andrea do it on her channel. I want to try it, but that would involve buying a miter saw, kreg jig, clamps, etc. lol
I’m glad someone who is a professional is nervous to try new tools too...I would love to try and make this base too!
Fantastic job! I love how an out of date 80s piece can look so modern and awesome!
I appreciate your high standards, but the whole makeover was fabulous. From the new base to the color to the hardware. Thank you for being brave enough to share your insecurities with us and inspiring us to work outside our comfort zones.
She's not perfect, she's exquisite! Love the look. Really nice job 😃🌠

Never thought to water down Dixie mud for application. Brilliant.
