  • ***Apologies for the wacky data on my motorcycle's telemetry halfway through the video. I've been trying to diagnose the issue for weeks. Speed was taken from Racebox instead.
    Funny enough, my main focus for this day in particular was to relax and become more comfortable pushing my limits. Apparently, I did exactly the opposite. The good news is, as the day progressed, I was able to bring my heart rate down and got better with remembering to breathe as us newbies have a tendency to hold our breath going through certain sections. I did not record the first session of the day as I was taking it easy breaking in new tires.
    2008 Honda CBR600RR
    Dynojet PCV with custom fuel map and spark correction
    Quickshifter w/ gear-dependent kill times
    Toce Exhaust w/ cat delete
    15/42 sprocket configuration (-1 front from stock). Speedo was corrected.
    Filmed using Insta360's X3 & Go 3 cameras
    Onboard telemetry was compiled using Telemetry Overlay and Race Render
    Multicam editing was done using DaVinci Resolve

    Very impressive 9 laps, son. What a rush! I'm getting braver watching these videos only because I know you survived them. I saw speeds up to 120 mph and heartbeats up to 201 bpm. I'm glad you are remembering to breath so you don't get so fatigued.

      @@wkrb0nk109 Thank you! I am very proud of him. Whatever he decides to do he does well. But this hobby surprised me. As a child he was cautious and careful. Our neighbors had a son, Scotty, who rode a tiny motorcycle, I think Sean was attracted to the sport then. Scotty's dad raced in dirt bike competitions. It's hard to watch Sean's videos since he is my only child. Alix is Sean's stage name. I went to Barber Motorsports last Spring to watch their annual motorcycle competition featuring young men in the racing circuit. I went there with Sean and his dad who is a bad ass too. He grew up riding motorcycles in France. That was an amazing day at Barber. It's a beautiful track. And touring the awesome museum of cars and motorbikes! I took lots of videos and photos. Maybe you were one of the competitors that day? Sean told me there was a recent motorcycle race at Barber with young female competitors! I won't even ride an ebike! I do like bicycle riding though and bought my first brand new ladies bike on sale last Black Friday. I had been riding Sean's old boys bicycle since we bought him his first motorcycle at age 15. Cheers!

      @@ghuffy22 the trackside photos at most places are pretty good and don't usually cost too much for the whole day. Like 60 bucks I think? Especially if you tell them you're going to purchase the day early on, they'll usually focus more on you to get you more shots. If you do end up getting a camera with some on board footage let me know!

    Lol....Charlotte's web has that effect on a lot of riders. @13:30 - So does loud pipes. He heard you. Our riding style is very similar. It takes a few laps to get going. You prefer high rpms and engine braking, smooth on the throttle and brakes, most of the time, Lol...
    Hey tip for Barbers...Don't feel like you have to use ALL of the track. Like coming out of T4 up over the hill and T7 going down to Museum corner. If you watch the video you'll see the guys in front pull a gap on you coming out of Museum corner (T9). It's because you're too far to the (R) entering the hump (T8). That leaves you squaring off the corner too much on that sharp downhill (R) and you loose too much exit speed out of the corner. That's why they pull that gap. (@11:20)
    I'm glad the weather held out for you. It's been raining just about every single day for a week now. It rained again this morning on the way to work. If you need an electrical wizard look up dannoxyz on 600rr dot net. He's damn sharp.

    • @alixvandurand
      @alixvandurand  Місяць тому +2

      Holy crap, thank you for this and taking the time to write out all these. It's the same as coming into T10 I imagine where you don't want to be all the way to one side as it would make you have to square off the turn once more. I'll try this out at T4 and 8/9 next time I'm there! As far as the bike's telemetry, I've been going back and forth with Dynojet support for weeks trying to figure out why it goes out mid way through then self-corrects. I suspect it has something to do with the device's memory failing. In later sessions, I was actually using two slots to record (10min each) so that way it never goes into that latter half that messes up. If we're riding similar, we should duke it out next time you're there! I'll get some good footage of you too :P

      @@alixvandurand That would be a blast! Your Toce and my Leo Vince ripping around Barbers back to back....Lol. You don't know how badly I want to ride Barbers again and again. But right now my funds and my stamina are just not there. The old Spyke suit still fits but that's only after loosing 10 lbs from fasting and soaking it in water....
      Talladega GP would be more realistic as I can get a track day for @ $150 and it's not as demanding on your legs and core. If you've never been to Little Tally I highly recommend that one and JenningsGP also. Jennings is a little larger version of little Tally in some respects. Both designed by Ed Bargy and both (run counter clockwise) are very fun and challenging. Both tracks reward the smooth rider and punish all others in one way or another.

    • @alixvandurand
      @alixvandurand  29 днів тому

      I'm going to upload a video showing how I do it but there's really nothing to it. I use the stem mount that comes with the camera (it has a circular base plate that's supposed to screw on it but I don't use that part), I then fit the stem into the little crevasse between the cheek pads (if you have speakers in your helmet the pads are likely already pushed out a tad, further exposing what I'm talking about). I took an angle grinder and grinded down the stem a little so it fits better but you don't even really need to do that to make it work.

      I get quite nervous and excited before getting on track especially since I'm still very new to running advanced, on top of the rush to get everything ready. Bike, cameras, recording equipment, etc. plus wearing the suit with underarmor is pretty hot and it was already quite warm out. All of these factors probably contributed to it.
