- The Pico 4 Has RUINED My Quest 2 !
I've had the Pico 4 for about a month now and it's safe to say it's ruined my Meta Quest 2. The Quest 2 is still great but with the release of the Pico 4 it really is showing it's age and shortcomings
This isn't a Pico 4 vs Quest 2 video as that would imply some sort of competition!

#metaquest2 #pico4 #virtualreality - Ігри
Wait? You just flamed meta for not building color passthrough in to the now 2 year old quest 2?? They system in which it took pico two attempts to try and compete/copy with it since it launched?
Btw i own, Q2, Pico 4 and Quest Pro. Quest Pro is by far the best in every way, maybe apart from weight. Reason i can't use the pico 4 so much is that its very uncomfortable for me and the software is super janky and lacking on comparison to Meta's. .Another playing and buying multiplayer games on my Quests at home is much more seamless and cheaper via account sharing and referral codes. Pro's and even Q2's AR and hand tracking apps are plentiful where there's literally nothing like that on the pico. With the 12 game devs now under Oculus Studios, i would think they are all developing exclusives for the Quest 3 and it's XR2 gen 2 hardware. I think Q3 will be the one worth staying in the Meta ecosystem for. It's going to be a beast of a VR device. It if adopts the Pro amazing controllers and developed software too.. pico will be even further behind. No matter how much they copy the hardware.
I do wonder if they have the ingenius techs that meta have. It's like early samsung galaxy vs apple at the moment. I hope Pico start to come up with their own 'exclusive features' in future. I didn't flame though I just rehetorically asked why they didn't use a colour camera in the first place. The black and white ir cams still look horrible and is one of the reasons for the title of the video. I still love everything the Oculus/meta tech guys have done for VR.
Pico 4 looks great for PCVR, but my main concern is the tracking quality of the controllers. Will look forward to your review to see how they pan out.
Tracking quality is great, from my experience. I had only slight tracking issues when I turned the controller compleatly away from the headset. Something that doesn't happen if you don't have extra functionality docked too some weird wrist gestures.(like a virtual wrist watch)
I love it for pcvr and the picture is even better than index by a long shot. But sound is just acceptable.
And I am still disappointed by the store. I wanted to show friends and family VR and idk what games there would actually fit that purpose....
Pico 4 owner here, the tracking quality feels only very slightly worse than the quest 2 and it’s honestly not even noticeable unless you’re looking for it. The tracking is still great and in some cases better than quest. The only reason you should buy a quest over a pico 4 is if you don’t own a pc and want a big game library, otherwise I’d say definitely get a pico 4
@@GlennQuackmire I agree, if I didn't already have a Quest 2, I'd likely get a Pico, as PCVR is my main use case. Worth noting that crossplay is a bit hit and miss for native Pico games. So just because the same game is available on the Pico, doesn't mean it'll play nice with someone playing off their Quest.
Tracking was not the best early on but has had patches to improve
I still think my Pico 4 is the best device for PCVR. Best lenses, smooth, wireless, and great visuals(when I use it with Virtual Desktop, and a Wifi 6 router). I've used the Quest 2, HP Reverb and Oculus Rift. Beats them all.
All meta quest games I have work on my pico 4 directly. So it has the same library in reality as the quest.
I’ll wait for the Quest 3. Pico has been having issues and they lost me once they got rid of the display port! Thanks for a great video!
I do wish they kept DP
The Quest 3 almost certainly won't have a display port. PCVR with Virtual Desktop is so good, it's worth it to lose the cable.
@@FatNorthernBigot it wont but It will support AV1 so it balances out
@@shuttzi9878 AV1?
@@FatNorthernBigot search up av1 codec comparison on youtube u"ll get the gist of it.
Basically lessens the compression quite a bit even if the bitrate is low.
The downside is that u need nVidia 4000 series cards to actually run it cuz only the newest cards supports this codec
The way you started off the video with saying the quest to was an amazing device lol had me rolling
what about the wifi6 , i still have the old wifi via mesch system
can the pico handle the older wifi? to connect to pcvr
further how much bigger is the field of view versus quest2
I know it's 5% more but what does this look like?
Good review for those on the fence getting into VR. But this isn’t the case for those who already invested in the oculus eco system. I mean do I buy the pico 4 and buy all the games I already own on my quest 2? Which would be more then the quest pro. Or do I buy the quest pro? Well I bought the quest pro to answer that question.
Better headsets been coming for a long time now and isn't stopping. However, content is king.
I agree. I still use my Quest 2, but only for the games I have on that, that I'm unwilling to buy again (particularly Puzzling Places that I've bought DLCs for), but when it comes to the Rift crossbuy games, I'm playing them on the Pico 4 via Virtual Desktop.
Just ordered one through your link to Amazon UK to show support. Keep up the good work.
Thanks so much! I hope you're enjoying it as much as I am. Thanks for watching too 👍
Spot on totally agree. You did forget about the active cooling of the Pico 4 too, which is essential.
I went ahead and ordered a Pico 4 in the US. Only want it for PCVR so the only purchase I plan to make is Virtual Desktop 😁
My first pico purchase too 👍
I have done the same, only using for PCVR and mannn.... Playing Half Life in this thing gives me goosebumps. It's mad !!
@@_damota I'm really liking it so far. Spent my first day sideloaing and setting up apk's. Today I started VD from my laptop. Needs lots of setting up, lol! I'm not even sure how I get a offline direct from laptop to router connection. Much less getting the controls mapped or the audio output correct, but I'm getting there, lol 😁
I agree with most of your comments. Aside from VR Wave. If you've got vaguely decent eyes then they're great. But the magnets often fall out and the edges of the lenses if you have poor sight... Wow it's like blur city and games like warhammer become impossible to play. I will say upon reflection and if you don't play battle sisters ever again they really do make life better overall. Even with the flaws I would still recommend them. For many though the biggest reason not to get a pico is games. beat sabre and exclusives are missing. It's not all about hardware and maybe quest 3 vs pico 5.... There may be no contest and the pico may nail it. :)
I'm going to talk about software in my review because you are absolutely right. This was more about the pico experience compared to q2.... as for vr wave - i love their lenses but i agree about magnets especially when I played thrill of the fight. Mine never fell out but I love the VR Rock lenses for pico 3 that slot on securely without magnets. The pico 4 ones are really bad though as you'll see in a future video unless someone else has one.
Nice video... Hard to argue with this stuff.
I have a dozen or so games on the quest 2. Can these all be side loaded to the pico 4?
I used the Franquenquest 1 for pc vr only and didnt buy much in the oculus store, the pico4 is a huuge upgrade, love it so far the last couple of weeks!
How is the Pico 4 compared to Quest 1...does it have the same FOV or better?
I'm still waiting to see what Valve is going to do in PCVR/standalone VR, I mainly use my Quest 2 for SIM racing in PCVR now, as most VR games still feel like concept demo's, than proper games to me.
Can you use the Pico for PCVR??
@@LeeMurrayKing You can, works the same as the Quest 2, using a USB C cable or Virtual Desktop for wireless PCVR, it's not a massive upgrade over the Quest 2.
I picked up the pico 4 on the first day of release, and love it. Been playing every day and the Battiers in the controls are still almost full. Also love the new update they did yesterday. Nice review mate
Is the lack of game selection an issue at all?
@@silvrsurfer Shouldn't be. You can play most of the best classics on pico 4 as well, new games are coming daily, more exclusives are coming and all steam games will obviously be playable. And SideQuest games will most likely start flowing in too once developers step out of their comfort zone!
how old are you?
@@Dylle_m Now that's a strange question, however over 50
It does not matter how much better the pico 4 is as long you can’t play great games on it , sideload or customize apps .
exactly
if you just use it for pcvr its amazing! standalone i agree, meh!
Truth
You can sideload apps via the internet browser or the usb port
The quest 2 and pico 4 are not worth it for playing standalone at all the experience is just not worth the money
I'm probably waiting for before next October to sell my quest 2 and get the quest 3. I can't afford to buy everything on a different store like you, haha
What is the black thing wrapped around your shoulder in that last bit with the pico?
Next video 👍
OH YEAH ! take that stupid Quest 2 ! such an overhyped HMD ! I bought Quest 2 and sold it after about 1 month or so due to it having such a poor and limiting FOV....the image sharpness was super good but it didn't matter the fact that the FOV simply ruined my immersion and also the 3D depth of it was off compared to Quest 1..due to having an LCD screen (the colors were also meh), the Quest 2's controllers were also uncomfortable compared to those of Quest 1 which were perfectly comfortable so yeah...I'm glad to hear that Pico 4 is better and wins over Quest 2.
I agree with most of what you said...
Well, I like the display on my Pico 4 very much, but apart from that, my Quest 2 with the BoboVR headstrap is on some parts stil far ahead of the Pico 4. Because the Pico 4 has a better display and has more pixels to show, you need also a stronger PC in order to get to that quality. So I like to play Beat Saber which in PCVR mode really needs a powerful PC. I have the Steam version which worked fine on my Quest, but on the Pico the Latency is big. Other games, like HLA look a lot better on the Pico. In fact most titles are much better looking on the Pico.
And the Quest has handtracking implemented in the menu, and it works well. I use it every time when I want to use Holofit (with my elliptical machine), so I don't need my controllers.
I like the controllers of the Quest for Beat Saber and FitRX better than the Pico controllers (also because I have the Kiwi-covers on them)...
So in short: for fitness, my Quest is better. For PCVR gaming I prefer the Pico 4.
Now if I want to play No Man's Sky, it was ok on the Quest with my GTX1080, but on the Pico, it is stuttering a lot (due to the settings). The picture is soo much better.... if I want to play that game, I'm gonna need to upgrade my PC and that is going to be costly.... Anyway I knew that before I bought the Pico... so now I'm learning everything about ideal PC setups for serious PCVR gaming!
A 1080? 🙄
Good points. It's one of those quandrys that lead to an extremely fun voyage of discovery 😂😊
I'm currently playing via a Pico 4 on my girlfriend's pc and everything is running fine, maybe you need to play with the resolution in vdesktop, as in should it be set too high, then it can stutter (GPU 1080, CPU i7 6700, 16 GB RAM, Ethernet connection and resolution in Vdesktop: 134%)
@@alexanderscatov912 Thanks. Not very long after my comment, I built a new PC with a RTX3080 and this runs fine.
This is the Pico 4 review I've been waiting for.. It's refreshing to hear this view considering how much time and money VRCauldron has invested in their Quest 2.. Having said that I'm still holding out for PSVR2.. Hopefully VRCauldron will review this too...
Thanks - this was definitely a one sided piece though a full proper Pico 4 will be coming soon. Not sure about the psvr 2 on account of not owning a ps5
Going back to a smaller FOV oh hell no. Your video has convinced me to sell my Quest 2 with half dozen worth of accessories (ugh!) when I eventually upgrade to a new VR system.
why would you sell a quest?
@@CashCrownz if I get a new VR headset that has a wider FOV, better tracking and is lighter in weight than the Quest 2 I don't see myself revisiting the old headset so I will most likely sell it.
@@AssCrown quest 2 resolution can be easily fixed using side quest, and any other headsets don’t have the games that the quest store has.
@@CashCrownz what about Quest 3?
@@AssCrown the quest 3 is definitely gonna be better then the pico. if not a huge pico killer it’ll still be a good product since they’ll be adding new tech into it.
Upvote for WYWH shirt. PICO 4 app library doesn't have my favourites. I would love a PICO 4 for racing sims/SteamVR though.
Thanks!
Hmmm... I guess you have not heard of Pico's problem? Sales are not going well.
Nice video. Real tempted by the PICO4, but concerned by the churn on devices. Who's to say that they wouldn't move on to a PICO5 when the Q3 comes out? And will they support multiple devices? Do all PICO4 games work on PICO3?
The pico 4 hasnt reached its full pootential yet id take that into consideration.
I really discourage anyone from buying a headset right after it's premiere, it being Pico/Quest or whatever else. Let the headset be tested properly first and fix initial issues and get a good grasp first.
Pico 4 is currently plagued by quality control issues which are far worse than the often mention "shortcomings". A LOT of people is returning in on the account of getting a headset that is hardware broken in numerous ways. So if you are bent on buying one be aware that you will be playing a loterry.
I don't think there are any pico 4 exclusives yet. They're basically the same headset but the pico 4 has loads of external additions like the ipd motor and bigger lenses. None of them really effect game performance. It does have 2gb extra ram though but i don't think this is enough to warrant a dev counting out the pico 3 which of course has the same specs as the Q2.
Just a quick update 8 months later, I'm pretty satisfied with my Pico 4 despite its slight flaws, I got used to the Pico 4 and I don't see the wave pattern anymore and its my favorite VR HMD currently, I am even considering buying the BoboVR batteries setup for it so I would stop needing to recharge my Pico 4 all the time and then it would also give me infinite battery life to it with ease (you simply replace the bobovr batteries each time and it already is recharged after you finish playing the next time you need another one to replace, quite genius).
Just seen this 7 months on, I had pico 3 so got the 4 at a discount. This is now my sim headset as driving and flight sims look awesome in it. For other games I use the index. I use the belkin ethernet adaptor and virtual desktop to get the best results and it allows power pass through so I can connect a large external power-pack. I run a 13900k and 4090 so games can run at max settings but will find out how it performs on a 2070 this weekend as I have lent it to a friend to test for the last month. Inboard games are good and the store has consistently added more titles than from the pico 3 days
I have ordered a Pico 4 and really can't wait to try it.
One thing that I can't understand is that apparently Quest 3 is keeping the crap strap design...
The crap strap helps reduce cost. They know folks that want real comfort will buy a new strap anyway, and the only reason to add a better strap would be to house the battery at the back. If the battery was at the back, they'd need a mechanism to allow connectivity for 3rd parties (more $) and face potential issues if that 3rd party strap blew up or something. Keeping it all in the front makes it more consumer friendly. Besides most comments on PICO 4 claim it's more comfortable than default Q2 but not a Q2 with upgraded strap. Seems the Q3 can improve comfort with slimmer design rather than focus on weight distribution.
@@wiggedmite6275 they already sell at a 100s of dollar loss a 2.99 plastic strap design is not saving them any money, they've got to recoupe those costs by selling apps, other overpriced accessories and your data
And still has manual IPD..
@@vrglcom If it's smooth manual IPD like in Quest 1, I don't mind, it's something that you set once and forget about it (unless you share the headset with someone else)
@@yoanperez172 True.. Shame it will still have the xr2 chip as well though.
Honestly with the meta partners i have noticed they have avoiding any announcements and news regarding pico, its not that they lie about stuff its that they avoid mentioning pico even when releases are cross platform including pico they forget (maliciously or not) to include that info.
Is there a passthrough browser so I can watch movies
I'm hoping the new diamond nuclear batteries will enhance VR like no other once they finally release them. yeh, I'm sure they will be expensive but id rather pay for something that will stay charged for a lifetime than keep forking out for batteries which you need to stop charge and change every few hours.
Until the get the games I enjoy playing as stand alone device, i will not even think about it. They have to get over that hurtle regardless of how good it is.
The pico 4 looks great but i think I'll just wait for the Quest 3 becouse of the games
Also loving my Pico 4 and got the same AMVR neck battery pack. Only using the Quest for exclusives now, Pico for everything else.
Did a 4 hour gaming session in the Pico last night, I could never do that with the Quest. The comfort is great.
Given that the leak of the Quest 3 shows a front battery I'm feeling like the Pico line has a good future.
Wow...4 hours game session, is it that comfortable..nice, I might buy Pico 4 but I am not sure how good the 3D effect is for Pico 4 and how good the colors on its screen are.
Does the pico 4 provide the same games the quest does ?
I returned mine. Sadly it’s build quality is nowhere near Q2. Mura effect on displays, barrel distortion, fan noise, pancake glare and many more…😞😞😞
Cat camp! But Pico has QA problems and PCVR software needs a lot of improvement.
For movies, is the visual quality in the P4 noticeably better than the Q2?
Answered myself. The Q2 has better color and contrast. The P4 does have a bit better resolution, but the display looks washed out for movies.
Won’t be getting either unless they release some more decent quality adult games
"This new piece of technology out performs this old piece of technology." Uh-huh, that's generally that works. Wait till the Quest 3 comes out then do a comparison video. That's what I'm looking forward to.
Another way of looking at it is 'this cheaper tech outperforms this more expensive tech'.
@@VRCauldron while that is true, most everyone who watch already have the Quest 2 and baught it before the price hike. We know it's outdated and there are a ton of quest 2 vs Pico 4 videos when they're really not needed, you don't see reviews of Band New Android Phones being compared to 2 year old iPhone. 👍
@@VRCauldron like, I get that this might be for new people, but at the same time the Pico 4 has an issue with its library and they already aren't selling as many has they had hoped, they close the market off to the US (Meaning we have to order from over seas which a lot of us don't want to do.) So it's really killing their prospects. The Pico 4 right now is only good for PCVR because not a lot of companies are moving apps to their store fast enough.
Sticking with the Quest 2...cos my last two headsets Lenovo is a brick and my Rift S died on me...
Sticking with quest 2 and vive cosmos elite with wireless until new games are no longer supported
Fair
Has is it holding up now?
As someone new to vr. For your first vr headset. Would you pick the quest 2 or the pico 4? I'm picking up one of these this weekend but i can't decide.
Quest 2 💯for a polished experience with plenty of games and solid features.
Technically the pico 4 is much better but the quest 2 has the best games and much greater support.
it depends on your uses, if you're only going to use it for standalone and want banging games right now get the quest, if you're good to wait for it to catch up get the pico.
also take note you're going to be missing out on standalone games like beat saber and resident evil cause they were funded by facebook
if you're going to mostly use it for pcvr and have a good pc get the pico else the quest
It's a nobrainer in your case, Quest 2 by far. 20 million items sold and more importantly tested & true. Meanwhile pico has 48 000 sold. Do not buy any headset fresh after premiere, especially if it's your first one. Yes, some aspects of Pico 4 might be tempting over Q2, but you have a much higher chance currently to run issues on P4 than Q2. Also there are reports of a decent chunk of P4 being hardware broken on arrival so there is another risk right there. If you are bent on P4 then at least wait and see if those issues get resolved.
Generally agree with the comments. Pico 4 headset better but more games on Q2 and software is more polished as the Pico 4 is about 40+ updates behind. Of course if you have ipd issues the q2 could be totally useless to you and you will probably want a new strap so extra 50quid there.
More FOV equals less PPD, unless the resolution is higher to offset the higher FOV.
you should've mentioned Virtual desktop, imo Pico4 is the best pcvr headset atm, beefy pc and wifi setup required obviously
My pc isn't beefy (still waiting for pandemic prices to drop) and my q2 is fine with VDesktop. But agreed Vdesktop plus Pico4 is great.
Man pico 4 seems like a great device, but software side of it and also the fact that it doesn't have library of games that quest 2 has, it's sad
is really really really worth it over the Q2? I don't think it's much of an upgrade and worth buying at present. Happy with my Q2.
If you already have a Q2 don't buy a Pico 4 at least not yet. Library it's increasing but not worthy, you would have to buy all your games again as well. Unless you like me that only uses for PCVR.
@@_damota yes at present just pcvr 👍🍻
IPD is the reason i am getting it for christmas
The motorised slider is so cool
@@VRCauldron Yeah
Never used it, no idea if the Quest 2 is better, but I'm in the US so it basically doesn't exist for me. Looks like another year with the Quest 2 waiting for the Quest 3 to come out.
There is a retailer in New York that sells the Pico 4 on ebay with 3 day shipping. I only want PCVR so I'm fine with limited support. I just ordered it, really looking forward to trying this on Thanksgiving with the fam 😃
Facebook would be quaking in their boots if the Pico4 was actually available through normal channels..
They should be worried anyway tbh because Pico is doing alot better than Meta is. File management, recording gameplay etc Pico is really in top of all these little things that Meta makes a confusing cluster f*k.
Where Pico fails is the software. You need to buy Virtual desktop software and again it only works with WIFI (delay) not practical for DCS or other high action games. They need serious improvement in their software side.
The Pico Streaming Assistant is working fine for me (I've 5G wifi of 1000mb internet), only times its lagging is when I also play a multiplayer game that is depending on other player's ping which sometimes is high and thus it requires even better and faster internet connection than I have but in single player games it's fine and I dont see or feel any lag, its good enough in most cases.
I want to play population one on the pico.
i hate that it happen , but thats meta fault of sleeping on their cash .
Not gonna re buy my 100 plus game library for a slightly better fov ..swerve that
You’re being quite illogical asking why the 2+ year old technology isn’t as good as new technology.
Just a quick rhetorical question wondering why they didn't use a colour camera in the first place. I believe colour cameras existed 2 years ago.
@@VRCauldron not at the price point for the resolution. They couldn’t just use color for the tracking so it would just add to the cost without any real gain.
I don’t know the real value of 2d color passthrough.
I hate to say it, but I"m a little locked in at this point. I own quite a few games on the Oculus store. So it would take something pretty major for me to switch to another ecosystem. Being first does matter.
Also the Pico 4 is still using the same XR2 chip and still isn't using OLED. So while it is better than the Quest 2. It isn't enough to make me to do an upgrade. I'm hoping the Quest 3 represents a true upgrade.
It will be interesting to see how the Q3 compares. And if it moves on from Xr2 thus rendering the pro pointless. It'll probably have the xr2+ that the pro has.
@@VRCauldron I thought they had pretty much promised Quest 3 would have the XR3 (aka xr2 Gen 2 because Qualcomm sucks at naming). I will be completely shocked if it doesn't.
@@MethosOhio same. It has to be more powerful otherwise a lot of people will stick with Q2 since a lot of people just care about the games.
The quest 3 is not much better unfortunately.. It actually looks older then the quest 2 and still has manual IPD. Still, content is king so still worth it imo..
@@VRCauldron still has the xr2 chip and no face or eye tracking and manual IPD..

Will the Pico 4 get 120 hz? The difference between 90 and 120 feels huge in Eleven table tennis, and that's the game I play 90% of the time.
I think it will soon. The pico 3 already has it
@@VRCauldron The thing is, Quest2 has 120Hz, I never use it for it does nothing, especially for PCVR which I play mostly in Quest2
I'm willing to bet it won't. It would absolutely kill the already struggling battery of that headset. There is a reason that this headset and QPro have 90Hz. Fresnel lenses allow for some cheating when it comes to rendering because of their imperfections but pancakes are a tradeoff. Watch the Carmack talk from last Meta convent, he touches on that subject.
For me it was the other way around. The Quest 2 ruined my Pico 4. The Pico 4 face cover leads to a fish-eye effect for me due to its design and the distance between the eyes and the lenses. That's how it is for some people and the reason why it is sometimes mentioned in the comment section under Pico 4 videos too. The headstrap is definitely better than the Quest 2 vanilla one, but there are much better 3rd party headstraps for the Quest 2 aviable. Since every head shape is different, it makes sense if you can swap them out, but that's not possible with the Pico 4.
But the worst part is the current software situation. The store is tiny compared to the Quest Store and apart from all the exclusive games that people will never play with a Pico device, many apps in the Pico Store are based on old versions without DLCs or much optimization. Pico Streaming works worse for me than AirLink and the same goes for Virtual Desktop. I tried it for hours but never got good results and I am not alone with this issue either.
they increased the price but they decreased it again
What was the game your wife was playing after/during the talk about the lenses and glasses?????
Tower Tag 🤘
I'm sorry the Pico 4 is extremely uncomfortable. You definitely need to replace the facial interface.
I agree about the facial interface at least when wanting the max fov. Got a new one now that's pretty nice.
as much as i love my Pico 4 my Quest 2 has the better software and games. The Pico 4 headset itself is much better in most ways.
HOW MUCH DID META SOLD AND HOW MANY DID PICO SOLD......AND WHY......SPEAK ON THAT NOTE.....LOL.....LIKE STEVE KNOWS SAY......HAPPY QUESTING......
Can’t even get the Pico 4 since I live in America :/
Some have managed to get it from stores that ship to the us
They both use XR2 processor… Which means they are both trash. We need a processor that’s about 20 or 30 times more powerful chip to make the device feels acceptable.
is this video paid? idk why i see such oposite opinions about the PICO. Some straight hate it, others love it. Im waiting for mine to arrive.
PSVR2 blow both of these out of the water. Yes it’s wired and requires a PS5 but it’s OLED has advanced haptics in the headset as well as the controller, eye tracking, halo strap and AAA titles!!! The Pico still has all the limitations of a mobile chip. The PSVR2 doesn’t require a high end PC but matches the quality without the price.
You would hope something that costs over a grand to beat something that costs about a third of the price. But people would still pay that money to be untethered. And of course one of these can be bought for less than the psvr2 without a ps5 and be used on a pc much more powerful than a ps5.
@@VRCauldron it’s £530 if you already own a PS5 which when you consider adding an elite strap to a Quest 2 is not so far off and much better value considering the way superior specs.
The Quest Pro is the Best Pro. :)
Yeah for 3 times the price ... and for a 1st version. Too much.
Pico 4 has washed out color and contrast compared to the Q2, QP and P3.
I love this channel but a whole video bashing 2 year old technology and unfairly comparing it to brand new hardware (which still runs the same chipset as the Quest 2) is just so unnecessary.
Still love the Quest 2. It's just a comparison more than a bashing. It is a bit bashy though but mainly because the quest 2 is more expensive when it shouldn't be.
I'm fine with my quest 2 lol
Sold my Quest 2 and bought Pico 4. I'm pretty hyped about new lenses and bigger FOV. And since i'm a PCVR user, i don't have any downsides of loosing Quest 2 games like Beat Sabers, i'll play it on PC anyway. But there's other matter as well. My retarded goverment banned Facebook (Meta) as an extremist group so i can't get new updates on Quest 2 with convinient ways.
Sounds like the Pico is perfect for you 👍
👍👍👍
The pico1 ruined by quest
Had quest 1,quest 2 sold it bought a larger storage Q2 returned it. It was too pricey, with having to shell out additional accessories.
Just got my pico 4 about couple of days ago. It's so damn light, I was testing the games. Now of course the whole game library and unable to play purchased Q2 apps is unfortunate. I can say I'm actually happy with the Pico 4 they gave me like 5 free games and another one unlike the Christmas bundle Q2 had.
I was on the fence about Pico and had the mentality "quest 2 is so much better" but yea the clarity of the lense, the colored pass through. Playing fps vr titles with its less clunky controls, I'm happy with it.
Quest 3 will ruin Pico 4 :V
TEAM QUEST...........FOREVER.......

How are all these comments not terrified by having chinese communist party cameras in their home? I would never let a pico device in to my house.
I'm glad that communists know what my porn prefirences so i could get a better film compilation further on ;)
Not that I am a fan of ByteDance or anything but I always laugh reading comments like this. Do you own a phone? You're not bothered by it tracking your every movement 24/7? Do you use search engines? Aren't you bothered that your ISP has detail logs of your internet activity? The list goes on.
American goverment, chinese goverment?
Seriously nobody gives a flying f. what you do on your VR headset. The only data that makes sense for them to collect about you specifically is stuff that will allow them to sell you more stuff.
It's 2022, this is the age we live it. If you don't like it stop using anything that has a chip in it and you are golden.
@@mranon123
People not giving a flying f is exactly the problem.
Corporations are greedy sleezebags.
However the Chinese Government is in its own league. Nothing wrong with people withholding their money over human rights issues.
Seems pretty logical ...
@@mranon123 to even consider comparing the US to the CCP, either you have no idea how terrible it is to live there, or you think concentration camps and citizens disappearing are nothing to worry about, or you haven't thought about it, or you work for them.
Either way, stop muddying the water.
BTW...this is the video that made me rethink about buying the Pico 4..you convinced me to buy it..ordered it today ! it should arriv in about 1.5 - 2 weeks
how is it?
@@bleuemoone8710 well, it's not perfect, for me it has wave effect (most of the time not noticable thankfully) and aliasing issues with small text/lines (in some games as well), it had an issue of shaky head tracking in the Pico 4 environment but after I updated it it was gone and got perfectly stable but then after 2nd update they went back to a bit shaky head tracking again (might get fixed again later on), the Pico Assistant app is great overall actually, I don't notice any issues with it but you need a good wifi (stable 5G) and a good enough PC to handle it well (also you must change the network settings to private mode for it to be able to launch SteamVR), the screen resolution is pretty good and the colors are vivid almost like an OLED screen and 3D effect depth is good and proper, when all issues are not visible in some awesome 180 SBS videos for example or great VR games the overall experience is pretty amazing, I got shocked a few times as to how incredible some videos looked, like these of the micro world where I saw bugs as if I was as small as them or frogs...looked like giant frogs but looked real and proper with it's depth and all, it was outstanding, it really depends alot on the content itself and it's quality, it is better than Quest 2 (which I sold), just the facepad is a bit hard on the face and uncomfortable, so I bought the GeekVR replacement pads and it's better now for longer sessions, I can recommend it if you find it cheap enough but keep in mind that they do have some manufacturing defects sometimes in some of the headsets (maybe now it's fixed IDK).
@@bleuemoone8710 Just a quick update 8 months later, I'm pretty satisfied with my Pico 4 despite its slight flaws, I got used to the Pico 4 and I don't see the wave pattern anymore and its my favorite VR HMD currently, I am even considering buying the BoboVR batteries setup for it so I would stop needing to recharge my Pico 4 all the time and then it would also give me infinite battery life to it with ease (you simply replace the bobovr batteries each time and it already is recharged after you finish playing the next time you need another one to replace, quite genius).
