    The tilted position is quite a funny thing. I naturally start to wear it like that with the light blocker. And yes, the fov is really something else, and the immersion is great. I added a head strap on the top to lock it naturally in this position and having less weight on the nose too. The fact that the headset is "breathing " when you move is also really enjoyable and prevents sweating. I'll probably buy a replacement from cushion to make it more comfortable, though. The design of the pro is really different from most headsets, but once you get used to it, it's really an awesome tool.

    When you mentioned the pupil swim, I stopped the video and got out my pico 4 to check. It absolutely does not have that issue. You might have gotten hold of a bad headset, their quality control is not always the best, or else it’s been fixed in software since you made the video.

    Hey does everyone else with the Meta pro see like a light around the lens? At first I thought it was the light bleeding in without the blockers but I have the new block out cover and at times I notice this light, it's almost like if the lens fog up but its not fogging. Is this backlight bleeding?

    After my pro broke and i got a refund i bought a pico 4 and a 4090 instead n i think i actually prefer the pico 4. The pro was great it had better color n better sweet spot at about 90% but the pico is sharper n the binocular overlap is so much better that if i had to buy agen id defo go with the 4090 and the pico 4. Atleast when we get the real next gen headsets my pc will be ready for it n the sweet spot on the pico is still about 80% n i feel the fov is slightly better on the pico n i find that means quite alot to me in vr

      I have a Quest Pro and 4090 and the experience is incredible for PCVR. Not tried the Pico 4 but if I had to choose between a Quest Pro with a lesser GPU versus a Pico with the 4090 I'd definitely pick the Pico with 4090. When there are £400 headsets that can get you most of the way towards a £1500 headset's visual experience in game it makes sense to save a grand and put it towards a top GPU.
      Plus new headsets come around every year. I love my Quest Pro but it feels like it arrived both too early and too late. Too early, in that its new hardware features like MR, face and eye tracking are almost completely unsupported, and too late in that its still using the very old at this stage XR2 gen 1 chip.
      I'd imagine Meta will release a Quest Pro 2 in 2024 and it will be a significant step up over the Pro with more processing and graphics power, better passthrough, higher resolution displays, and actual applications for MR and working foveated rendering eye tracking.
      Also, according to a report in China in 2024 most major headset companies, including Meta are switching to 3800 x 3500 uOLED displays. Not worth spending loads this year on a HMD unless you have money to burn and can't wait.

    I own a Quest Pro and have some Through the Lens videos on my channel using PCVR with a 4090. The Clarity is insane.
    This is my thoughts and findings.
    Price - It does cost a bit, but when you put it in perspective, it's priced about right;
    G2 Omnicept £1250,
    Varjo Aero ~£3000 (Including base stations, controllers, headphones, Import tax)
    HTC Focus 3 £1300
    HTC Vive Pro 2 Kit £1300
    Valve Index Kit £919
    Most of the above are not standalone, and some don't have eye tracking and all the other sensors like the Quest Pro has.
    Resolution - This is where there is a lot of misconception!
    Quest 2 use a single panel, Quest Pro uses two panels that move with the lens stack, so you get MORE visible pixels, which increases the Pixels per degree, giving you better image quailty, and superb clarity, so overall you get a higher visible resolution.
    Lenses - This is truly next gen VR, edge to edge clarity, no god rays. being able to look any direction with your eyes and have clear clarity is something Fresnel lenses can't do.
    These are the best Lenese on any HMD right now.
    SDE - If you look for it, you can see it, more so on white back grounds. but this is nothing like the Rift S, Valve Index. Fresnel lenses did a good job hiding it with the Quest 2, but with the clarity of the Pancake lenses, it has made it more pronounced. That said, playing PCVR games, you won't notice it.
    PCVR - I've owned many headsets over the years from the CV1, Samsung, Revrb G1, G2 v1, Quest 2, Pico 4.
    I have to say, out of all those HMD's, the Quest Pro is a massive step up in clarity. Even people with HTC Vive Pro 2 and Focus 3 and Varjo Aero have came forward in a forum I use, and have stated how resolution is not everything, and how they are blown away with the clarity of the Quest pro. It is truly awesome, especally when we crank the settings up.
    Turning the render resolution up to 1.7x, using Oculus Debug Tool, and setting encode width to 3616, and bit rate to 500Mbps, really makes the Quest Pro shine by hiding compression, and giving objects in the distance a sharper clarity, making it easier to read marker boards in the likes of sim racing etc.
    Now as I own a 4090, these setting are playable at 90FPS and high settings in the likes of DCS. ACC Epic VR, which just look incredible!
    MSFS Ultra settings plus 1.7x render resolution plays at a solid 45FPS with ASW, and is also incredible how that looks and feels.
    Controllers - Well lets just make it clear, as good as the CV1 Touch controllers, and Valve Index controllers at tracking, with a premium feel and great haptics.
    Comfort - Is hit and miss depending on your head shape. It is well balanced, and fits my head nicely.
    FOV - I have a IPD of 67mm using the FOV app, I see 104 degrees, push my eyes closer, and I get 106.
    Conclusion - After many hours with this HMD, I am keeping it as my go to PCVR HMD, it truly is a next gen experience.

      @virtualjoker9036 Рік тому

      So these settings only work when using the link cable correct? Now do we have to match the Encode Res Width to what we set the render Res in the Oculus Graphic pref? I didn't see the 3616 when I maxed it out to 1.7, it only gives me 2736

    • @tgpips1128
      @tgpips1128 Рік тому

      They work for both Airlink and cable as the info still needs to be encoded and decoded. Though if you leave 500Mbps bit rate and then go to Airlink, you may find yourself having connection issues, so always revert this setting back to 0.
      Manually set 3616 as that is the native for both panels width combined.

    Quest pro, A great helmet for your new money, love from the first three days, with each charging of the helmet there is enough time for more work (the battery should be pumped), to get a greater viewing angle - the forehead support should be pushed as deep as possible, helping with your fingers when you turn the stop adjustment wheel. In order not to put pressure on the forehead, it is necessary not to tighten the helmet very much on the head, and after tightening the helmet to the size of the head, lift the front part of the helmet and slightly pulling forward and, as it were, put the helmet on the forehead, at this moment the frontal emphasis will bend more to the shape of the forehead and then it will be comfortable to spend long sessions in the helmet))

    For me the jaggies combined with the foveated rendering are kinda bad in the Pico 4 compared to the Quest 2. I think it's a matter of developers being lazy and not optimizing the games for the Pico. It would really cool if we could have Quest Games Optimizer for Pico 4, it really helps sharpen up some Quest games with minimal effort.
    Also I was playing some Walking Dead Saints and Sinners PC version on the Pico and at night or inside dark houses you can see a reflection of your health/stamina bar above it, very annoying bug. In the Pico version of the game it's like they knew that would happen so the darker scenes are more washed out and you can't see the reflection.
    I've only had the Pico a few days overall I'm pretty happy with it just wish it had some standalone exclusives and the games were more optimized for the system. Love how light the system is but I'm already making some comfort mods and audio mods making the thing into a FrankenPico.

HL Alyx is smooth as butter and even Beat Saber is playable with almost no hiccups. I think I might tear down my cabling system!

      It's strange because I've tried air link in the past on quest 2 and it was the one that stuttered extremely and VD worked fine. Yeah I've tried both too. Even with all the required tweaking and modding the Quest Pro is just too low resolution compared to the Pico 4. Testing back to back I found Air Link and Wired Link to be just about indistinguishable from one another and I agree link works better than Virtual Desktop. Testing the Pro with VD and the Pico 4 netted the same performance results with some stutters and just not as smooth...switch the Pro over to link and it's just buttery smooth. As good as VD is the Airlink/cable link solution just works better at this point.

    It's hard to compare a competitor to the Quest 2 (Pico4) and a Pro version of the Quest. Yes, the Pro may be better but take into account the pricing and the target market - then the Pico is outstanding compared to the competition. I love my Pico 4, especially for PC VR, the Pro just did not impress me enought to spend the extra cash.

      HTC Focus 3 £1300
      HTC Vive Pro 2 Kit £1300

    I think it's a personal opinion preference, I have Pico 4 and quest 2 and quest pro but I have to say for the money Pico 4 win's 100x! If you want to compare quest pro you need to compare with Pico 4 pro. The only downside of Pico it's the fact that don't have lots of games! But if you have a really good pc gaming for VR then you will rock with Pico 4! As a stand alone Pico 4 needs more work with the OS! @dtrjones Рік тому +1

      Copying the Pico 4 would not be great. One of the reasons why the Quest 2 is so popular is because of it's modability with third party companies. As far as I can see the Pico 4 is a single unit like the Quest Pro. It will be interesting from a battery perspective if they move it to the back, I'm guessing they won't because of that modability, so I'm expecting a simiar design but just make it a sleeker, lighter device with pancake lenses, XR2 gen2 and a unified stereoscopic colour passthrough (no doubling up on b/w cameras).

      I don't know where you are getting 96 for your HFOV on the Q Pro, that is its Vertical FOV,
      The quest pro has a 106 HFOV (108 rendered) the Pico 4 only has a 104 degree rendered HFOV
      Don't believe me?
      Sources:

      However you are right if you mean that the Pico has better Vertical FOV, much better in fact... (96 vs 104), however I find that you have to remove the facial interface to actually use that FOV which is not comfortable; but I'm excited for high FOV facial gaskets that might be coming soon for Pico4 that will make it a real FOV beast.
      Also don't get me wrong I love the pico 4; but the panels I have; the QPro is definitively brighter, and deeper blacks, the pico looks washed out in comparison (see my video through the lens shots at 9:56)
