    Krylon Matte finish as the last step when you're completely done and the paint is dry will add a layer of protection but will also make whatever you want look Matte or Flat or whatever better than anything. It comes in a spray paint can.

    • @DeJesusCustomFootwear

      @@DeJesusCustomFootwear I take it you're sponsored by Angelus? I love their paints, I use them to paint all my shoes!! But when I painted my ultraboost black I was co with how they turned out (I used duller) then I seen a video where a guy used Krylon Matte finish so I gave it a shot and it gave them a pure flat look, a dry look, a dull matte look, there is not a bit of shine. Im in the process of painting my ultraboost slides right now, Im still adding layers but when Im done I'll use duller in the paint and the matte acrylic finisher and I'll take a pic then I'll spray them with Krylon and take another pic and then side by side them. Do you have an IG page?? And I respect the hustle with you sticking up for your sponsor.

    • @DeJesusCustomFootwear
      @DeJesusCustomFootwear  4 роки тому

      DJK been sponsored by them for years, but this isn’t even about that lol. I’ve done thousands of pairs and can say for certain the way we teach is the finisher is more just meant for a little bit of protection rather than trying to change the look. In my opinion you can’t even compare the look you can create with duller vs a krylon spray.

Too give what will be my long answer in the video short, I will say finishers don’t really matter much, especially on leather if we’re talking about durability it is way more important to focus on prep and then proper painting techniques and the finishing will only be about 5-10% of the final equation. Hey guys, i’ve recently completed my custom af1 shoes. My question is if the matte finisher is water/dirt resistant, and if not can i apply a polish type product that does protect from water and dirt? Thanks!

    • @DeJesusCustomFootwear
      @DeJesusCustomFootwear  4 роки тому

      I don’t believe it’s needed as I think the finisher does enough, but you can apply a water/stain repellant on top of the finisher if you want

      It’s more of a percentage based, you want about 10% of your total mixture

    Can I mix Satin Finisher with Duller?

  • @jayalexander929
    @jayalexander929 3 роки тому

    I don't use Duller at all, and i knock the myth that the shoes shouldn't look like there painted. I actually love that u can tell tht the shoes are painted i think thts one of the unique things to separate it from factory looking shoes. In all the ppl i painted shoes for i honestly never had one complaint about them shining i even had a some ppl who wanted them to shine. Weather its Matte, Flat, Gloss etc, I think the focus should be whatever the customer wants.

    • @DeJesusCustomFootwear
      @DeJesusCustomFootwear  3 роки тому

      Sure I’ve said plenty of times here on our channel that you want the shoes to have a unique painted look cause they’re pieces of art... but you don’t want them to look unprofessionally painted which happens a majority of the time when you have a sheen. Of course you’re allowed to enjoy a more glossy look than normal but I think matte just always gives the cleanest factory look which I think is the lines youre trying to walk.. almost has a factory look but still clearly done by an artist

      @@DeJesusCustomFootwear Actually I never experienced that problem I'm able to maintain a professional look every single time they have a Sheen or shine. No matter the finish I think it's about properly detailing your work after painting the shoes and going over significant lines that create a professional look. Personally I don't want a natural factory looking shoe if thts the case ppl might as well buy graphic colorful designed shoes and don't even bother with getting custom painted shoes. I honestly never had 1 complaint about my shoes shining or having a Sheen I even had some ppl who preferred it. I want my custom painted shoes to look like art.
