I've always liked this aow despite the contempt it gets. It's especially good on the Broadsword because it gives you a thrust attack that the sword doesn't have
@KurwaRomek Indeed, I did a counterattack build right before this so I didn't want to do another one immediately after that. If you put on some heavy armor and go for counterattack damage the whole fight, I wouldn't be surprised if you got 3500 damage a hit
The fact confessor class literally starts with the broadsword - the highest damage infusable straight sword - with the unique opportunity to get another, and 1 point below the required faith to use flame, grant me strength, makes it my go-to recommended class for new players. Put your finger on L2 and start blasting.
I used this build for my classic sword and shield knight character I ran recently. Swapped the 2H talisman for Rotten Wing Sword Insignia and occasionally the curved sword talisman to guard counter regular mobs. Also the stance break crystal tear which decimated every boss in my path. Had a blast beating all the incredibly powerful bosses of Elden Ring as a humble knight.
I never stopped using it, even for pvp- it’s great. The best thing about this ash of war imo is that it perfectly counters weed cutter 😂 just gotta time it right
Square Off was literally the first thing that came to mind when I read the effect on Rellana's Cameo. High Stance damage and now, high burst damage? One-handed Straight Swords lacked burst damage so I'm happy to see any buffs for sword-and-board. It makes me all tingly inside, haha. I've yet to test it out but I assume it also works on SoNaF? P.S. I'm surprised to see you at RL170, btw.
@@magnolia549 Indeed, SoNaF could be a beast of you really focus on one element. The only problem is getting that whole Ash of War off is going to be difficult in the DLC fights, so you may need to be super patient for the right openings. RL170 was something that just happened. I started a new character for the DLC and saw myself level up a bit further than usual. There's so many cool DLC weapons that I just had to invest more stats to use more of them on my build!
@@the_jersey_side Yeah, SoNaF's skills take some time to wind up. Honestly, I'm interested to see what sorts of builds you might come up with that aren't restricted to RL150.
@magnolia549 Thanks dude! Those extra twenty points have seen me using more spells in my builds. I just started a sorcery build, and a few extra points in mind make a huge difference!
@@the_jersey_side Yeah, learning not to restrict myself to certain levels has been a struggle. Going from RL100 to 150 was a tough pill to swallow, 150 to 200 felt like I was over-indulging. Since I don't co-op or PvP, levels don't really mean much and is only there diversify/improve my builds to make my playthroughs easier or harder. In a way, it feels like I'm tied down by tradition in the Souls community where if you're not at "meta" level, you're a bad player. It's still a mindset I struggle with, haha.
@magnolia549 It really is a tough balancing act that comes to mind on every re-spec. I don't do much Coop anymore, so my level doesn't matter as much. But like in all other creative realms, limitation breeds creativity!
@@the_jersey_side I grew up north jerseyish til about a few years ago where I'm centralish/south myself depending on your opinion of the shore area lol
Never quite been sure, ik two handed str bonus can take strength above 99, but i always thought 80 was the cap for one handed basically, so 54 str while two handing. Another variant on this may be just full faith with flame art to double dip with flame grant me strength -- but maybe that's overall less danage than physical+electrify armament, hard to say. Either way not really needed. Also if I dont want to use spells on a run i kinda avoid the magic stats just bc once i start leveling them i feel like i have to juggle so much to get total value out of it, but that's neither here nor there.
The main reason I didn't use Howl was the damage negation reduction. If this was a lower NG cycle, I would feel much more comfortable with the reduced enemy damage. Howl plus Booodsucking cracked tear is a good glass cannon combo
Dagger Talisman would be best used on lower game cycles. In New Game and NG+, every 3rd hit can be a critical, making it potentially more useful than the Two Handed Sword Talisman
Lordsworn straightsword my beloved...
My first friend in The Lands Between: Square Off.

you can put the stance breaking crystal tear in your Physick flask to make stance breaking even easier
2:29 royal knight resolve give a 80% damage boost for 15 fp 😭
I would rather have the stagger potential tho
It’s 80% but 35% for crits i believe

John Knight remains godlike.
I want it on my claymore :(
You can try giant hunt, its very similar and it can launch them into the air and give you a good laugh
I still wish we could put in on greatswords so I could recreate my beloved DS3 claymore, but is that asking for too much?
@@Andrew-s3b If feel that man. I was really hoping for the hollowslayer greatsword to make a return
Giant hunt?
Maan, I'm from Jersey myself and then I saw you say an Eagles fan vs a Jets fan. And I died in my soul a little bit :/
@Mr_ChAoS haha I'm a South Jersey guy so being anything else would be sacrilege!

Instead of Flame Grant Me Strength that only buffs the physical damage, use Howl of Shabriri that buffs all damage by 25%. Need 33 faith though.
