“The most outlaw thing you can do in Nashville these days is play country music”
-Marty Stuart
Who else is wishing these guys were just now showing up on the country scene? They were definitely ahead of their time and this is so much h better than today's wannabe country.
Me in 2024❤❤

It's nice to see they have sort of a cult following. Unfortunately most of them came from the "Dumas Walker" Era 😂
💯💯
Back when country was country
You know it brother! Yea!
bunch of dead
Before they put politics in country music, ...
That drummer does not give two f**ks gotta love him
Not 1 bit 😂😂
I feel as if he’s the wild card of the group 😂
Notta one! 😂
Zero F$%KS. I feel like he probably sits in his crib doing the same shit
These guys are not only good. Their music is fun
They have put out their fair share of some truly stellar introspective pieces.
It's a shame country music today isn't anything like it was when I was growing up in the 80s and 90s
It's basically the new adult contemporary.
It ain't country anymore, it's electronically enhanced garbage.
Cause 14were in me at one time, only need one, bless all
It’s 2023 , and this song is still rocks “ play it loud “.😊
Always
Damn right brother
There IS no other way to play it! 🥰
Hell yea.......
Awww hell yeah
I am 60 wish I can go back in time... good ole days
Fuck I'm 74 and I still wish I could go back in time!
im 60 aswell i hear ya !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm with you, it was such good times then.
KENTUCKY HEAD HUNTERS,A GREAT SOUND THAT WILL NEVER GET OLD,BRING IT ON BOYS.
Man I miss 90s country.
70's and 80's too, some even older
🙃
Country music back then actually told a story.I am over the new country music.Bring back that hillbilly twang and meaningful music.Love it.
I don't and will never get it- rap with no melody, metal with no lyrics, how did we get away from good music like this?
*THIS IS REAL COUNTRY MUSIC*
Yessir it is 😎😎😎
Reba, Hank, Dolly, Vince, Kentucky Headhunters, Willie, Stadtler Brothers, Oakridge Boys, etc. These are the greats who helped define Country Music
I remember when my Dad brought this album home and cranked it up on his four Kenwood speakers...
I was blown away!!
Always a favorite!!
Old school alusom music the most great bands of today's are not nothing like the music like back then
KENWOOD SPEAKERS.....THAT BRINGS BACK SOME AWESOME MEMORIES!!! ROCK ON .... 💕 LOVE!!! LOL! ✌️🤣🤘😎
Dads were so cool about music back then. They had good reason to be.
You got a cool dad 👍🏻
That's what Im playing them on 😮😅😅😅
Just watched them in Paintsville, KY. Still got it!
Omg..wish they'd come to Texas
These guys are what ya call good ole boys
Kentucky headhunters are also considered southern rock by the music industry
If you haven't done so, listen to brothers Phelps. It,s the 2 brothers from the headhunters.
@@phillipramey4734Cool. Thanks.
Many don't know this is a Bill Monroe Bluegrass song. I love the way these talented guys restyled it and introduced it to a whole new generation.
Yesssir
NO !
This is not a Bill Monroe song..., It is a JAKE LANDERS SONG.
Jake wrote it, Bill immortalized it...
There I go larnin' new S--- agin.
These guys were actually Rockers. Rock and Roll had alot going for it, then in the mid 60's it went into the toilet. The County Rockers brought it back. It's sad that mainline County is, now as disgusting as mainline Rock/Pop.
I love this song. Walk softly on this heart of mine❤
This song is better than most of the trash that you hear on the radio today... Rock on Headhunters!!!
Hell yeah

Hot trash
Southern rock will survive ,thay are bodacious
That drummer.... the stuff legends are made of.
He always kicks ass or he did
😂😂 That energy is incredible 👏
Chicken Fred (Drummer)
I'll take the hillbilly life any day compared to nowadays, thanks headhunters ,loved ya guys in 80s now at 52 still do ,and I love my country holler girls too. These are my kinda folks
My Daddy raised me on this and good ol Dumas Walker, among others. I raised my kids on it and now their kids are singin it. I love every minute of it!
jennifer i eat at Dumas Walkers a couple times a week over in Greensburg i live not to far from it. my brother was friends with the band he went to school with them
Amen queen
Same!
Man, that drummer beats the shit out of those drums. Love it!
Yep Fred Young is an amazing drummer. Neil Peart I bet gets jealous.
I saw them open for Hank Jr in the old omni convention Center in Atlanta in 91 or so, the drummer did a drum solo for what seems like 10 minutes man, he wailed on them things . after he was done he jumped over the drum set and did a shirtless pose down that Arnold Schwarzenegger would have been proud of. Pretty awesome concert all the way around
You should here him live from about 10 feet away, saw them in Ohuio 1988 for 4 bucks
@@georgesawtooth: I doubt Neil was jealous of any drummer considering he was one of the top 3 drummers of all time!
@@finsfan1376 I agree Neil in my book was the best drummer of all time, but the best even realize at least sometimes there are great ones out there too.
The 80's were the best. Couldn't imagine any other way!!
Who's here TODAY, July 5th, 2024? Who's WISHIN' we was back in the day???
Judy In Memphis for 1991!
July 11th 2024
This guy
July 16th
I do I love this music
That this song peaked at #25, back then, tells you how great the music was in those days. To me this was a strong candidate for the best country song of the year, and I don't care where they put it on the charts. This song grows on you, and you sing along with it, so many others you get tired of and they burn out from too many listenings. I think this is one of the most inspired songs of it's time, for all the elements coming together so beautifully.
VERY WELL SAID! ✌👏🎤🎵👣👍🎉👌
This was before they became brother Phelps they are still good
Happy early 🎂 birthday
Well said. I sure miss these guys!
dt
I remember singing this song in the high school talent show and wining first place. Love the Headhunters!
What yr was that if I can ask ,, no pon intended
Looks 80ish
These boys can rock a conference room in Saute St Marie. We rocked out one night in Michigan. Best concert we ever saw for $10.00.
I cant believe this came out in 1989. Great music is timeless. Makes me proud to be from ky.
E
Yea we have a long list of country music hall of fame musicians from ky back when it was worth listening to the music.
Born on the WV Ky line.

All time top LOVE

the right amount of rock, the right amount of roll and the right amount of southern.
Can;t beat em with a stick.
Right amount of mullets....lol
Yes!!❤
Still a fantastic song
Exactly
these cats need to come back !! Country Music needs some bad asses...
They'll be at the Louder Than Life festival in Louisville this October.
Agree
My kids just saw them at the Black Gold festival a few years ago. They look exactly the same!! My girls got a few guitar picks. It was a good time. Love these guys!!
A-FKIN-MEN!!!
Come back FROM WHERE? They never went anywhere! Still jamming. It's just that Nashville won't let them have hits any more. Remember, their first record was called "Pickin' On Nashville" And Nashville DOESN'T like to be picked on. I just saw The Heads in concert last Summer and the people I was with were younger than me, and they could not BELIEVE how much they jammed!
I'm sooo sooo glad that i was born and raised in the South. The best food and music

Southern Rock from a Bluegrass song. 😁
I was a Louisiana teenager when this came out. Crazy memories riding in the back of a truck drinking muscadine wine under the Louisiana moon! Good times 👏👏👏
