RIP Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and

Thanks for the memories.
Saw one of Petty's last concerts with Joe Walsh at U of I. Would've never guessed he'd die 3 months later. Super special
True that..

At 77 years old, this is still some of the best talent that ever came along.

I so agree! I am 74 and they are some of the best. My husband and I saw Tom Petty at Red Rocks in Colorado. So cool!

Yeah. George just has such a happy voice in this song.
Can not believe three of those guys gone already. Greatest band of rock stars ever.
You got that right.
Great tribute to Roy who died before this was filmed, his guitar on his rocking chair was the boys honouring him.
Also note that the train goes through a tunnel while Roy is singing...respect!
Doesn't get any better!
Great generation of music. Loved them all.
Thanks for sharing.
And a big portrait of him there and rocking chair rocking as if his spirit is with them . Excellent 👌🏼👍🏼 touch
My mom passed away today, and she requested I play this song at her funeral. She was the best mom anyone could ask for. I will never forget you, and I hope to cross paths with you again someday. Farewell mom.
I'm so sorry for the loss of your mom. :(
So sorry you lost your Mom. Bet she was a cool Mom if she requested this song. One thing for sure, she had excellent musical taste.
she will be with boys now rip
God bless you and your family.
My mom died 12-27, and this song evokes her memory for me as well.
Who's here to listen to these awesome guys in 2024? ❤
I'm a lifetime devout metalhead but I ❤❤ these guys! and yes I know who they all are RIP Roy, George, Tom ✝️

I was rewatching the Martin Scorsese DVD on George then thought, oh yeah that first TW cd, I've got it somewhere... but then just clicked here.
...And there it was in the back of the net.
Me me me! Love these guys just doing what they do best. Beautiful.❤
This song has been banging around in my head all week. Sat.morning 5:45 sitting on the white bus I heard.
Jeff Lynne is a fantastic musician, songwriter and producer. Jeff Lynne's ELO will be on Tour this Summer and Fall of 2024 for 32 concerts in North American cities. It's on my bucket list... I already bought my tickets for New York and Toronto.

The photo of Roy Orbison and empty chair really gets you. I can’t thank these men enough for the wonderful gifts of music they offered to the world.
I also thought that was a big touch of class ,my favorite part of the video....
@@peterjohnson617 the remaining 2 should do a new video today, then 1 then 0.
That part with the rocking chair and the photo along with Roy's voice gave me the chills, absolutely my favorite part
@@patrickveninga1050 I agree. It was part tribute, part practicality. His voice was on the audio tracks, but his heart attacked him before they could make the video. That touching part gave us an image to go with the voice, and it was in honour of a fallen gentleman.
Great Song! Agree
Can we pause a moment to let this sink in? Tom Petty (already a world-wide star on his own), George Harrison (a freaking Beatle for God's sake, as well as successful on his own), Bob Dylan (THE Bob Dylan, troubadour for an entire generation), Roy Orbison (one of the most distinctive and original voices of foundational rock in the 1950s), Jeff Lynne (the founder and driving force behind ELO, the successor to the Beatles) - five epic-level musicians in a room recording tunes. We will NEVER see the like again.
Very well said! Long live Jeff Lynne and Bob!
And...Jim Keltner on drums, the best session drummer of all time.
2nd best...Hal Blaine was the best ;)
One group came close -- The Highwaymen. Willy Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, and Kris Kristofferson. A different genre, but all giants.
Poor Line Up Really HA HA HA Everyone LEGENDS !!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Traveling Wilburys were the definition of a Super Group. So much talent. This is a superb song.
For me, the most profound line in this song is when Jeff says "the best you can do is forgive."
For me its 'everything will work out fine' - Orbison.
"Every day is judgment day"
“Purple haze”
"Maybe somewhere down the road aways, you'll think of me and wonder where I am these days"--- just a great line for anyone thinking about the one that got away. Miss you, girl!
Love how they keep Roy Orbison's voice and memory alive in this video - the rocking chair with the guitar and the picture.
Elvis said he had the best voice he ever heard.
So sad 😢
I've seen this video dozens and dozens of times, and every time it gets to that shot, I do this "awwwww" as if I've never seen it before. But yeah, gets me in the feels. Right in the feels
always makes me tear up (Roys part)
He had such a high clear voice.
That empty rocking chair with the guitar in it, that picture of Roy Orbison, still chokes me up, and brings the tears..even after seeing this video a million times. RIP Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, and George Harrison. Gone but NEVER FORGOTTEN. 💔💔💔

Roy Orbison’s guitar rocking on the rocking chair for God’s sake … heartbreaking 😢 The Big “O” … amazing voice !
Has to be the greatest supergroup of all time

One of the greatest songs ever - I was born in the 90's and my father would blast old rock and roll the music he grew up listening to. Rest In Peace Roy Orbison (king of rock n roll), George Harrison and Tom Petty. True legends
My Grandmother passed away today and this song gives me so much nostalgia of spending time with her. It always seemed to be playing when I visit on that radio channel that only old people sit around and listen to. Playing this on repeat on my 3 hour drive to Sydney airport to start my long journey back home to Ireland. RIP Miss Egan 😢
I think I can speak for many of us and offer our deepest condolences. You clearly loved her very much.
I pray for your heart to heal and I'm sorry for your loss.
Sorry and I am you have good great and grand memories
It is hard to believe that Jeff Lynne and Bob Dylan are the only two members alive from this group. What a force these men produced.
Bobby outliving them all! 😢but I am so happy he is still around ❤
Jim Keltner on drums is alive too!
That's the problem with the West. We are not taught from an early age that death is our final reality. We ignore this fact and become self-absorbed with our own bullshit, devoid of empathy. Everything is about "me" mentality is so pervasive. Perhaps if we each spent more time contemplating death, we might find ourselves living more meaningful lives.
BOB DYLAN LIVED AT THE CHELSEA HOTEL, ALONG WITH SID VICTIOUS, AND HIS WFE NANCY, LEONARD COHEN, JANIS JOPLAIN IN THE 60S

There's more talent in that one room, then there is in the whole music industry today. RIP Tom, Roy and George

Hi park, how are you doing today
Almost 82. I never thought I would be alive when my favorite singers where no longer with us. When I listen to this song they are still with us. Music is my favorite thing. I would not want to live with out it.
elizabeth caywood you’re 3 days closer to 82 and on UA-cam commenting on your love of music. Awesome!!! So you were a teenager when Elvis made it big and rock n roll made big bands go bye bye. Great musical changes in the history of your lifetime. My dad is 82. Made me download all his Ray Coniff music onto his iPod. Hahaha!!!
elizabeth caywood he’s 82 in February to be corrected.
@@jdhrap 82 March 18th. Yes I have seen a lot of changes in music and many other things. When I was very young I listened to all music. A radio was all we had. We would listen to the big bands too Music is still my favorite of all the things. Never in my wildest immigration did I think I would be on a cell phone listening to music with other people. My grandfather fought in WW1and I loved him with all my heart and I wish I could share how much the world has changed. He predicted we would be in wars forever when we got into W W1. I could tell him he was right & music is still my favorite thing. Music keeps me sane in a crazy world. I have 2 little Javanese doggies that sleep on my bed and listen to my music. Billy & Molly born on the same day one year apart. They love music too. Life goes in a flash so trying to slow it down. Peace and love to you and your father.
Your father has seen the changes in the world as me . Sounds like he still loves the big bands. End of the Line my favorite and I love songs like Amazing Grace. And a new song, Meant To Be. Listen to it.
elizabeth caywood Meant to Be with those country boys and the little hot blond girl? Great song. Music is awesome. I played an instrument for 15 years all thru school. It made me love and appreciate music so much. Love jazz and blues for the musicianship. But love that same musicianship in regular radio music as well. I really enjoy a well played song. But love stuff that is musically fulfilling if you know what I mean.
This song takes on a whole new meaning when you are 80 years old. 😪
Not to mention when you think about losing them one by one :(
Not even that old.
Same with so many passing recently, brings a lump to my throat when Tom Petty sings. At 80 you're outliving many who've recently left, you must be doing something right ❤️
When the view from looking back over your shoulder is a longer sight than the finish line ahead.
I’m feeling you my friend.
Eight years behind you. However, I understand totally. My grandchildren mean everything to me. I've introduced the two eldest to the Travelling Wilburys. I think they get what their songs mean to me.
I loved this song by these great talents since it first came out. This is only the 2nd or 3rd time I've watched the video, though. And with Roy, George, and Tom having passed on already, the visual use of the empty rocking chair and the moving train -- as well as the lyrics "the end of the line" sung with joy -- the message of this song becomes ever more clear and poignant. I just love this so much! "Best thing you can do is forgive." Yes! That, and share your talents for others to enjoy, be kind to yourself and others, treasure your friendships here in this life, and, lastly, look forward with faith and hope to enjoying them again in the next. ❤

Hi Jerry, how are you doing today
This song is my anthem, from here to the end of the line. These artists made the music for their generations and for generations yet to come. You can't ask for more than that.
This was the last song my father shared with me before he died. He had almost a mile of old vinyls and records, and I still have loads of the ones he raised me on - Queen, Fleetwood Mac, Orleans and so-on. This was the last vinyl we listened to together, in August 2022. By September he had passed, and a week afterwards, Queen Elizabeth II died.

Well the look on his face looks like he knows something bad is coming...
Nicely worded! Have a good one!
They are alive in our hearts
Yes we can .as long as you as you have someone to lay with. GOD BLESS ROY .
Ohh..eahh
The greatest collaboration that nobody heard of. Loved the fact they all used pseudonyms as their Wilbury characters, no ego, just a group of guys that loved making music. I have both their albums, and the "unknown" Wilbury albums that Harrison/Petty/Lynne put out around the same time with everyone else contributing to the backing vocals/instruments. Just plain old "feel good" kind of music that exemplifies what musicians can create when left to their own devices. damn I miss these guys, what legends!
@ Eloquent Sarcasm when any of these men sing it’s obvious who it is. imo
Being 75 .. Watched many concerts during my young teenage years through my middle aged years. Sadly our younger generation will never experience, The Sixties and Seventies as we …. They were the best years of any generation. Love all performances by the Traveling Wilburys !!!!
3:15 such a cool shot
The worlds first super group! Just so sad Roy went so early with his angelic voice.
Very well said my friend
Excellent summary
My beautiful dad loved this ,we played it the day before he died .love you dad 😢xx
What a memorably happy song . A great collaboration by some of rock and roll pioneers . Timing is every thing . Who could forget this song .
Hi James, how are you doing today
George was always the best Beatle. Pure class. RIP George Harrison, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty.
Yes. The best Beatle. Forever
. 💖
I was in high school and I cried so much when George Harrison died
✌️💚
It's interesting to me, when the Beatles broke up, the one Beatle most other influential musicians seemed attracted to, and to collaborate with, was....George Harrison.
HAHAHA. I thought I was the only one.
“Alright” sung in unison sends goosebumps.
me too, wtf is that? it's weird how good this song is
@@3niknicholson it's five of the best singers paying homage. We'll never have them again.
It takes special human imagination to write and sing this song 🎵
They harmonize well
I suspect that all the folks that left messages were blessed to hear these guys play amazing music. At 67 I know the music and feel happy to hear such talented musicians. It's been a good ride and many of us out here appreciate.
Tom Petty with his powerful , even delivery let that storyline flow! RIP Tom, you're missed.
The way they honored Roy here is one of the most wholesome things I've ever witnessed
The rocking chair with guitar and the picture really makes one tear up just a bit. My late grandfather always enjoyed Roy. He really was an underrated talent.
@@bajacore absolutely. To think he wrote a lot of songs that we've all heard, or heard covers of, and yet somehow I never really see his name. I didn't even know who he was before I discovered the Traveling Wilburys. I've read that these guys all mutually respected eachother, but Roy was the one to make everyone feel sorta star struck.
Remember when people used to have class?
Took a few times before I noticed the lights go dark for Roy too.
Absolutely
So much so
They were all in their 40s (except Orbison who was 53, and Petty who was only 38), already legends who could have just coasted and put out a covers album of their hits, but rather produced this absolute masterpiece.
It's alright
It is awe inspiring to see them all in one room. I like the moments when they're clearly just having fun hanging out and making music. I don't think George Harrison was an easygoing person, but you can see him enjoying the moment here.
❤❤❤Jeff Lynne's ELO will be on Tour this Summer and Fall of 2024 for 32 concerts in North American cities. It's on my bucket list... I already bought my tickets for New York and Toronto.❤❤❤
Got my tix for Atlanta!
One of The Best Bands ever, their collective creativity is superb. I never tire of hearing this song. God Bless R.I.P Always Wilburys Keep on travelling lads xxxx this song has brought such happiness to so many xxxx Thank you to you all xxxx xxxx
The rocking chair with the guitar representing Roy Orbison gave me chills. Really.
I know , right!
Gives me tears.
It's brilliant
Me too! Tears too!❤
Someone commented who's listening? I'm almost 69 and I've been listening since the beginning.
Every song on UA-cam has a person saying who's listening this year....every single one of them could do with a slap
78 and a fan of them for many years. This song is my favorite. Happy to be alive!

Doesn't matter how many times I listen to this song. It's always great.
And I think think the same . 25.2.2020
Yea I suppose “it’s alright”
How can anything by them not be incredible? They were a band of revered legends.
Yes indeed. It's ALWAYS great!!! Even at 70 years old, it makes me smile and dance around the room :-) It doesn't get better than THAT, does it?
legends of music but sad that 3 have gone but not forgotten
