Who doesn't want more Classical Anqutity DLC or more games set in this time period? There was a Call of Duty concept for a Roman game but that got scrapped :( I want MORE of the Classical Period in video games.
The Hellenistic world in Imperator Rome, is largely complete. It's very deep. What Imperator Rome needs, is similar deep content on Persia, Babylonia, Assyria, Egypt, and deeper dive into Spanish, Germanic and Gaul tribes, all of whom had deep impact on ancient world, particularly military, and are largely generic tribes in the game.
The average users for the last 30 days is around 1/8 that of Victoria 3 which is their newest grand strategy title! We can easily get rather close to that and why would Paradox not pick it up then? It is essentially free DLC money for them since the expensive core game development is done and now they can just produce flavour content and sell it at unreasonable prices :)
If u enjoy the time period, especially the Hellenistic world in particular, just get it. There is no better game of this kind, about that era, even remotely. This is the best we have, and it actually quite good, if u willing to sink some time into it.
Also, has probably the best Elder Scrolls strategy mod, of all games, and Lord of the rings mod, maybe not exactly better then CK3 one (arguably the best one), but certainly not any worse.

I would love to see the game being updated. The biggest problem with IR is that the game has little flavour and, thus, replayablity. For the first few gameplays, I had a true blast. A little later, the thrill just burned out. I think that we should show them our support for the game, and our desire for it to continue, but we can't lie to say that it was released on par with other paradox titles. If the player base and the developers "work together", we can and will make this one of the best strategy games of all time, but for that, they have to work with us, and show their desire to make it happen, not simply abandoning it. It was a big blow to my confidence on Paradox Interactive when this game was released, not because of the game itself, but because of how quickly they dropped the game and how they valued my money. Until that point, I had bought ALL GAMES AND ALL DLCS they had in steam (apart from Stellaris), damn, I even bought Magika and other smaller titles. But after Imperator Rome, my confidence went away. Before, I believed that even if my money didn't pay out at first, they would eventually make it worthwhile. But after Imperator Rome, I lost my faith on them. I just want 3 things in vanilla: 1) Extend timeline to 456 AD 2) Give us China to have a huge worthy enemy at the end for Rome 3) Give us 2 more timestamps -- triumvirate and empire divided.
About Rome trailer, maybe it’s because Rome is too scholarly ambiguous as a subject to trivialize it into our Imagination of what is Rome. About the map, even though many good arguments exist about why Terra Incognita map mechanics is not necessary, I still want that EU4 function, just because I want to “discover” Rome as China

If its being revived, lets face the facts - there is A LOT that can be brought over from mainly Vicky3 but also in some part from CK3. What Imperator is still struggling with is a form of identity crisis of what it wants to be. Does it want to be EU4-styled? Or CK2? Or have its own take on Vic2? I think that CK2 styled character interactions are wrong for this sort of title. I think the classical period is perhaps one of the most interconnected in history up until pre-modern era. I think that it is a title if revived should not completely abandon character interactions. It could look at certain things CK3 has, for example. It should however look way more to Vicky3. A Vicky styled game set in the roman period - that would in fact be awesome. And lets face it. CK3, Vicky3, HOI4 has opened some doors that even even PDX Tinto will have to take into account if EU5 is on the way. The way paradox games worked up until EU4 is fairly obsolete by now. And I think Imperator is the definite proof of that, even if I really enjoyed the game.
Thanks for putting this out. I dodged the game in 2019 despite being very close to picking it up. I love Paradox Games, especially CK and I love Antiquity Content so I was really interested.. but the Reviews were terrible and it looked rough when I looked into the game. Game looks like it has come a long way, and it's on Sale right now, think I'm gonna pick it up and try it out the next time I wanna mix things up.
I:R is already very good but it desserve a trade system update: the production of good by slaves should be less "gamey" (per cluster of pops is crap, production should be calculated per slave), bonuses should depend on the quantity of good (production+import) depending on the total population of the country, and especially the province-by-province trade system is fun at the start of the game but when you find yourself with a huge capital it quickly becomes boring as hell, and to top it off all the automatic trade in the others provinces hardly works, imho an empire to empire trade system would have been both simpler and more consistent with the bonus system.
think they messed up by not having *more* of a character focus like ck3, since you're *generally* playing at such a small scale, it only makes sense. it's still an ok game but idk still feels like a missed opportunity to me.
Imperator has the best map ever made by Paradox, and serves my fetish well, which has always been a huge number of provinces in a strategy game. The problem for me was always how underwhelming the Diadochi Wars seemed, because you have these huge, wealthy, populous states, that have neither money, nor manpower in-game. I remember how futile it was to play as the Antigonids, fighting against everybody with an army less than 10k strong, and running a deficit, whereas the Antigonids controlled several royal treasuries from Alexander's time, and had armies in excess of 100k men. The initial years of the game should have been occupied by massive wars involving hundreds of thousands of troops, and money, at least in the Diadochi areas, running abundant.
i honestly think that patch last year was someone going into IR to use it's engine as the base for EU5. Also if we get up to 8k like Vic3 i think we have a chance.
I just have a very hard time understanding how to play. I even spent 5 hours with guides and completely invested into trying to learn it and couldn't. I'm willing to try again, but I must be able to be in a learn as I go environment. Is there a setting I should change to ensure my learning mistakes won't cause my game to end as I play with Rome? Is it like CK2 in that it is almost impossible to actually lose the game?
Lotr and elders scrolls mods. Haven't touched vanilla in years. All praise to the two moddrs, Lonely modder (ES) and the War of the Ring team. Think they are the true drivers in these increased numbers.
They should go balls deep and make an empire-divided expansion for Imperator Rome. Imagine the Hype of an Aurelian Time stamp with some added mechanics. I know it steps away from the ancient world, but the hype would actually revive that game. Then they could go back to the original time stamp once the player count had been reestablished.
I quit IR when I encountered the stupefyingly bad trade system. It seemed to me at the time like it was designed by a psychopath with OCD, who didn't know anything about trade.
ive revisited the game and have been playing it for the last month and a half and pleasantly happy with it. The only thing that needs to happen is the marriage mechanic is still a bit woke.
I found the very premise boring from the start. In CK2 or EU4 you KNOW most nations or countries. They feel alive because we know their history somewhat. But 40 gallic tribes... who even knows their name? Who even has a distinct history people feel something for? And it leaves us with just a few countries which are interesting. Most people don't even have any tangible feeling to, say, Etruscans. What are they? What did they stand for? It is the Stellaris issue. I know these games have their fans, but both games have the same issues: most "nations" say nothing to most people, whereas most nations in CK2 and EU4 era are known to us and have individual narratives we somewhat know. I am a big Rome fan. But going into that era with 100s nameless tribal areas I never was behind making that a Paradox game. I'd wish they make a game that starts on Earth in, say 1990 and then goes into 2400 into the future.
“Terra indomita” still have a lot to improve on the east Asian side I think, “To the end of the world” feels somehow better than “Terra indomita” despite Terra literally porting “To the end” in its mod
An update could be dangerous : right now the game depends a lot on its modding community, and having a frozen game version is a great help for them. Any update which introduces new features would break many mods, which have been slowly developed over years by a community which might not be strong enough to provide an update. I think the best thing Paradox can do is taking the lessons from Imperator and its mods, and creating a brand new game in the Antiquity or Bronze Age or so. Probably something much less Roman, avoiding the stain of the Imperator reputation, but similar enough to keep related mechanics.
If guys are always thinking about Rome, by default, they are always thinking of Imperator Rome, lets bring it back!

1) Extend timeline to 456 AD
2) Give us China to have a huge worthy enemy at the end for Rome
3) Give us 2 more timestamps -- triumvirate and empire divided.
I really hope they come back to it to some extent. TTW Rome 2 is my absolut Favourite Total War Game, not Only cuz of the Timeline tho. I wanted a Ck3 like Game but in the Roman Timeperiod and i startet getting used to Imperator Rome over a span of like 2 years? Because first i didnt know how to do anything at the Game but it was like Ck, you have to spend some Hours til you get used to how to play the Game. But than it makes great Fun! Thanks for the Video and giving it more attention :)
P.s.: After seeing this i set the Goal to Play IR 2-3 Times a Week when i have time to higher that Number :D
Can we get a let's play tutorial for 2024? 1 that is for new players? I'd love to start playing, but it's pretty dense and the learning curve is super steep
Been playing this game since launch and havent stopped
It just got updates today
I remember buying this game just before 2.0 and l remember loving it from the beginning. I'm glad to see it getting the attention it deserves.
I still remember that CK trailer like it was yesterday…
Thanks for putting this out. I dodged the game in 2019 despite being very close to picking it up. I love Paradox Games, especially CK and I love Antiquity Content so I was really interested.. but the Reviews were terrible and it looked rough when I looked into the game. Game looks like it has come a long way, and it's on Sale right now, think I'm gonna pick it up and try it out the next time I wanna mix things up.
2019: 25 hours played total.
2024 after downloading 2 weeks ago: 200hrs total
I:R is already very good but it desserve a trade system update: the production of good by slaves should be less "gamey" (per cluster of pops is crap, production should be calculated per slave), bonuses should depend on the quantity of good (production+import) depending on the total population of the country, and especially the province-by-province trade system is fun at the start of the game but when you find yourself with a huge capital it quickly becomes boring as hell, and to top it off all the automatic trade in the others provinces hardly works, imho an empire to empire trade system would have been both simpler and more consistent with the bonus system.
Good video I was so disappointed when it came out but it’s worthy now
think they messed up by not having *more* of a character focus like ck3, since you're *generally* playing at such a small scale, it only makes sense. it's still an ok game but idk still feels like a missed opportunity to me.
I played this game at release for a bit but haven't touched it since. Has it changed a lot since then?
Yes. Especially with mods like Invictus.
2600 players rn, good job!
There is the crusader kings 3/1212ad cross over mod, would this be possible with imperator and Rome 2?
5k would definitely make it worth a small team developing or 3k consistent for a few weeks/months
I love this revival
i honestly think that patch last year was someone going into IR to use it's engine as the base for EU5.
Imperator is an awesome game in its current state and especially with Invictus.
I hate that Paradox abandoned this title
Lotr and elders scrolls mods. Haven't touched vanilla in years. All praise to the two moddrs, Lonely modder (ES) and the War of the Ring team. Think they are the true drivers in these increased numbers.
I really want a polished paradox game for this period.
Two words: Imperator Rome
Bro is cheating on us with his secret channel T-T
I’m so sad you had to find out this way 😭
What’s the other channel?
Ah it's called Andy's Take @saintaio8791
@@legendrogue237 thank you!
1000 people in a concerted effort to revive the game isn't a lot of people and doesn't mean it's good
Paradox did this game dirty.
Whatever they do, they better integrate the invictus mod
Roma Invicta ❤
I quit IR when I encountered the stupefyingly bad trade system. It seemed to me at the time like it was designed by a psychopath with OCD, who didn't know anything about trade.
Trade is OK if you don't like it -- you can just automate it.
ive revisited the game and have been playing it for the last month and a half and pleasantly happy with it. The only thing that needs to happen is the marriage mechanic is still a bit woke.
One can dream
There's no way that they'll pick it back up
“Terra indomita” still have a lot to improve on the east Asian side I think, “To the end of the world” feels somehow better than “Terra indomita” despite Terra literally porting “To the end” in its mod
I’d love Asian soldier models despite knowing it hard to make
They handed it off the the modders. And the modders are bringing people back. They arent coming back imo
I'll give it a go again but I need a list of mods that won't break the game to install.
I just think the UI looks like it was made in the early 2000s
I always enjoyed playing I hope to return one day
Tbh, the Imperator Invictus mod is what makes the game playable
I have played vanilla and it was good. Never thought about any mods needed.
Let’s bring it back
An update could be dangerous : right now the game depends a lot on its modding community, and having a frozen game version is a great help for them.
I really like the Bronze Age mod too
Hope they bring this game back!
Cant get it yet, gon get it soon
