First of all, I was never tired of DT's music...I was tired of the routine DT had fallen into and some of the relationships (or lack of) within the band...but it's been 2 years now....it's fun to play these songs again...they will ALWAYS be a part of my history & legacy for the rest of my career....not to mention, this is a project with Derek who co-wrote and recorded a lot of these DT songs with me, so why shouldn't we play them at a concert that is including songs from ALL of our past???

Its been 2 years and i still feel sad about you not being in DT.
I really hope you guys can make peace with each other and get that that magic back that made DT so special ever since i heard Light fuse and get away for the first time and knew had found my favorite band ever. And it still is, but...

Great to hear coming straight from you! I'm sick of all the DT "fans" that have rejected you and blindly worship Mangini's skill, you're both great drummers, but creative talent and chemistry makes a band, you had (and still have) alot of it, and it showed in DT! RESPECT TO YOU! And those left in DT

I initially uploaded this video to show my other friends (who could not attend the show) how great your performance was. I was extremely surprised to find out that you Mike actually watched the video. You have been one of my greatest influences for the past 20 years. On behalf of my band, my family, and myself I would like to express my deepest thanks for years of inspiration. This gig, as all your other gigs I attended over the years, was remarkable. Best regards, Peter from Slovakia.

Good to hear that, I know you heard this a lot of times: Last time I went to a DT show, I just didn't felt like completely filled, it was amazing but, it was like something was missing. Just want to tell you that it would be awesome to see you with your band again, at least one more time.. Cheers!

keep it with the good work mike, you are the best, you are the co-writer and co-producer of all those songs and it is super awesome to see you play them again, you and derek make pretty good music (prog at dream theater stile) so keep these partnership with him :-), falling into the infinity is one of my favorites dream theater albums (hell kitchen, lines in the sand), love you mike!

I have a tremendous esteem for each of every musician on the stage, but I can't deny that McAlpine (GREAT MUSICIAN) needs to rehearse more Petrucci's parts...Happy to see them happy on stage however!!! :)

    Dear Mike,
I've been to Budapest in February 2012 and I've missed you a lot, like the usual Jordan's solo, I consider that DT really needs you back, I can't see MM drumming Stream of Consciousness or Instrumedley, at least not like you, but I consoled seeing you in Bucharest with Derek, Tony and Billy. Please put more LTE in your concert playlists, also OSI if possible... THS! All the best!

On Apocalypse 1470BC you should check out Virgil'parts-and play them as they are.The unison part,he counts eighth notes on the closed high-hat and plays the patterns with left hand and double bass,linearly...While you make it sound as fills (playing hand/foot combos),he keeps the groove going on with his right hand, while catching up the unison patterns,Peace

  • @kabasakalis

Drum parts, specially Virgil's parts are an integral part of the Planet X songs, they actually define the songs,Change the drum parts and you have something else. What I see in apocalypse is Mike doing fills where he should be doing Virgil's unison groove/pattern.I see this as abuse. Each to his own.Drum parts are written for a reason and become a trademark for songs. If someone cannot respect them due to lack of skill, maybe he should spend some time doing some homework.

Agreed. ADToE didn't quite do it for me, and the last concert I went to... well, it didn't feel right. Maybe it's me entering my cynical teenage years, but the PN09 show I went to at 11 was fucking awesome, and the side show that I went to during the Iron Maiden tour was a great, old fashioned metal show.

Let the haters hate, Mike! You're a true inspiration to all of us, keep doing what you're doing as long as it makes you happy. You have so many fans that stay with you, no matter what you do. Focus on them, not on the ones that try to bring you down. You're amazing, we know that and you know it, too. I know you care about what people think or say, but sometimes it's just best not to. Keeps your mind clear of all the dumbasses around here.

much respect for Jordan, but in my opnion Derek on keyboards was the best DT line up, and since I can say that directly to you Mike, I have much love for all of DTs albuns, but I think that somenthing went missing after Train of Thought. anyway, hope you can find hapiness in your new live. Imense love for your work, best wishes from Brazil, we miss you around here (I dont live in são paulo and I couldnt catch the fates warning concert)

but let me say in his case it was HIS choice not to play Portnoy's parts. Portnoy would not be able to play Virgil's parts even if he wanted to.

I love U Mike but I still ca't understand the purpose of playing that stuff and especially fact that those great musicians gave their time to learn this while U all can play something else, something that all of guys on the stage could relate to, not only U.
