In the late 2000s, there was a convention and one question concerned what would have happened with a fifth series. The writers stated they’d had an idea and it would have been in the swiniging sixties, Beatles etc.
Tony Robinson mentioned that one, revolving around a group called "The Black Adder Five" with the drummer Bald Rick :-) Curtis had an idea that it was Baldrick who accidentally shot JFK.
Hi megsy. After you've finished this series there's Black adder "back and forth" where he builds a time machine, and "a Christmas Carol, based loosely on the Charles Dickens novel. ✌🏻❤🇬🇧
They could do one based on today's Tory party. Baldrick would be based on Sunak with a cunning plan to call a general election early. Melchett based on Boris and George would be based on Gove. 😁😁
Another great video Megan ! Blackadder Goes Forth is one of the best series of one of the best comedies ever broadcast in the UK. You're gonna love every episode of this, the writing & the cast are brilliant, it just doesn't get any better, can't wait for your coming reactions !👍
There were at least two single episode stand alone Blackadder specials. The first is a parody of A Christmas Carole, where Blackadder is a pawnshop owner, who is very kind. The ghosts of Christmas visit him and each one, instead of inspiring Blackadder to be better, teach him how evil the world is. End result, the kindly Blackadder is turned into one of the worst men in London. The second one is set in high society and Blackadder is short of funds. He tries to con his rich friends into a bet where he fakes having a time machine. Only catch is he actually does create a working time machine and he and Baldrick go back in time and completely destroy English history. The French win all the wars. (Little thumbnails...both are actually hilarious.)
There were also a few Black Adder Specials, such as the Christmas episode and also one for New Year's for the year 2000 which involved time travel and so included some of our favorite previous versions of the characters and also a brief visit to the future, so they might be worth putting on your list...
I always longed for another series of Blackadder but there is something to be said about quitting whilst your'e on top. Series like this, The Office, The inbetweeners and Fawlty Towers will always age well by leaving us wanting more
Season One is set in time of Richard III. Funny episodes😂😂😂BLACKADDER is his "Scary Nickname." So Edmund starts as a Prince, to a Lord, then a Butler to a Prince, and finally a Sgt. Soldier. 😵😵😵😂😂 THERE'S A CHRISTMAS SPECIAL A SHORT OF CHARLES I and Treaty of Albrecht BLACKADDER GOES FORTH...Special time travel story with all the characters...👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
What is so funny about Kevin Darling is that I have a personal experience with a classmate with that last name, but they're a girl. Which is even more reasons for that, we had this teacher who often calls us by our last names, if it's easy to pronounce, and she gets called out in the most hilarious ways. This one time, he called her by her last name in public, and he had to deescalate the situation. Yes, it was awkward. It was 12 years ago, so that's why hearing darling is funny.
they made the millennium edition also Blackadder drops down a notch socially everyseries, and the brits did indeed use the "slow walk " in WWI, tens of thousands died because of it
The slow walk was the only option they had at the time and when done correctly could secure victory unfortunately it required very close coordination between the advancing infantry and the artillery where one small error by either could and often did cause disaster. The slow walk was necessary because they were advancing directly behind a rolling artillery barrage designed to suppress the enemy and break up obstacles. Unfortunately communications at this point were usually field telephone's with all too vulnerable wires or massive radio's which advancing troops couldn't carry with them so if the infantry got bogged down and couldn't advance as quickly as planned the artillery would cease fire on schedule leaving them exposed in the open too far to assault the enemy trenches. Once the tanks were available the same tactic worked much better as they could suppress the enemy defenders and clear paths through obstacles while being close enough to coordinate with the advancing infantry. All armies at the time used the same tactic because it was all they had until technology gave them a better option.
@@Capohanf1 Typical childish comment by someone who knows nothing about history international treaties or the actual power wielded by a constitutional monarch. But do go on with your boo kings are bad opinion.
Blackadder is responsible for so many popular myths around WW1. I love the series but the amount of people who believe rubbish like this as a result is a shame. It's a fatal misunderstanding of the lack of inter unit communication, rolling barrages, and the need for all troops to arrive at the same time for the attack to be effective which meant small units rushing ahead would be absolutely useless to the wider tactical goals.
@@BFBCFTW to be fair I grew up subconsciously with these myths it wasn't until I'd served and spent years reading extensively mostly good military science fiction written by veterans that I realised how far from reality the average civilians understanding of war and soldiers was. The army has many strange rituals and beliefs Some are newer and based on modern ideas and some seem archaic and pointless but there is always a reason and an underlying benefit. Seeing through civilian eye's it's easy to just look at the deaths and judge these men harshly but with a different perspective you can understand the horror they had to face stuck in a war they didn't have the tools to win without massive casualties and losing wasn't an option for either side. And they all knew the war was pointless only happening because some idiot politicians who thought the were infallible had cocked up.
Ruth i got into blackadder halfway through series 2,series 3 i loved hugh Laurie & frys cameo, series 4 my favourite who could believe a top quality comedy has pathos.just like delboy, bellie laughing one minute to tears the next..
Everyone of these is fantastic funny it's comedy at its best when it's also set against a tragic situation or the characters are stuck together you get both with this one, there was an idea to do another series set in the 60s but it never happened.
There is a British Archaeology series called Time Team and it is REALLY hard to watch after watching all the Blackadders, considering Tony (Baldrick) Robbins is the host!
Hello megañ, black adder goes forth is great fun but on the last episode around three minutes before the end it becomes very emotional , almost makes you blub?the name of my town is also mentioned, regards, John.
@@s.rmurray8161 I always saw it as a clever name because it also sounds like 4th as in the 4th series as well as actually meaning 'go forth', so a bit intentional but perhaps they didn't have that in mind at all.
Series 4 is probably the apex and is the reason it didn't go on, I think. Mind you, they'll probably be a stage version with different actors by the time I've finished typing this.
do you get the humour also in House, the tv program. I did and love it like mad.. I've see it twice at least in netficks.. I alos grew up watching this on tv in NZ.. it was hillarious and the same as NZ and Aussie humour..
Each season got better and better, and they really hit their stride in the fourth. It was right to let Blackadder end at its peak.
I agree! Too many shows end way past their prime.

Yes they are quite the contrast! Tim is quite the talented actor! I'm glad you enjoyed the reaction 😊

@@CanWeNotKnockIt Yeah no one ever reacts to 'Back and Forth'... sure its a little marmite (personally loved it) but its still Black Adder.
Also The Cavalier Years, which was a 15 minute short shown during the first Comic Relief telethon.

There is one off episode set in the present (with time travel), at the point of the millenium I recall.
I still use the scene “what do we do if we step on a mine” in training sessions 😊
