Hard to imagine Arthur passed away only 3 weeks after the concert. As if the illness has given him an extra time and strength to finish up on a high together with his band for one final performance :( RIP Arthur!
Yeah! I also saw The Dolls in 1974, before the release of Two Much, Too Soon. They played in a hotel basement space with a low ceiling and no stage - same level as the audience! Traded insults with hecklers. Hilarious and brilliant!!
Just got done watching New York Doll. I seriously feel like a better person for learning more about Arthur Kane. I kind of cried like a bitch as I neared the end of it. LOL. Beautiful man indeed. RIP
Dolls wanted Gary Powell to drum for them as they thought that the Libertines were the only decent band to have come out in last 20 years or so. Same thing with the Who and ended up with Roger Daltrey doing a tour with Pete Doherty.
What a treat, it doesn't get any cooler than the guys, doing what they do. I never got to see all of the Dolls, but this was a rush...thank you from this side of the border.
Agreed! It's great to see the surviving Dolls doing well but Thunders and Jerry Nolan were the guys that powered that band, no question about it. Without them the Dolls just seem kinda.. ordinary. JT mightn't have been the most technically accomplished player on the planet but that means zip - I've never seen a so-called virtuoso that could ever convincingly replicate what Thunders did.
How can you play with urgency and aggressivity ,and at the same time playing with spontaneity and abandon? It's like playing two different ways at the same time. Only Johnny Thunders.
Very subdued. I expected a head shaking, out of key backing vocal from Johnny. Stepping up to share a vocal with David. I guess you couldn't or wouldn't upstage David or Syl on a comeback.
@@Freerangemeggs yeah minus the guy who wrote this song and while gave the band that extra edge with that rip em guitar style. I'm sure they're better you jackass
@@Freerangemeggs He might be but this new band, even though their 1st album is great, would never be able to even touch the greatness of the 1st album by the original band.

RIP Arthur!
Arthur Killer Kane is absolutely incredible here. RIP Arthur.
Never gets old. My go to video when I wanna rock.
Truly brilliant RIP Sylvain. NYD were brilliant loved Thunders RIP Johnny.
Saw The Dolls back in '74........great great show...
I saw KISS open for The New York Dolls, in Toronto, in June 1974. Great double bill.

yes indeed agree with you
I watched the same video. I was truly moved by Arthur’s gentle spirit and his love for the very simple things in life
A kind ,noble , gentle giant , no pretense s.God Bless you Killer !
Gary Powell was an amazing choice for this initial comeback. The Libertines were the Dolls of the new millennium.

@Gregg Thanks!☺
@Gregg it’s not damned. Listen to the early Actress demos and Johnny’s So Alone album version. It’s condemned for sure.
Was this ever resolved? I've been waiting to see what happened.

Minha inspiração. Glamour total.
Brasiil ;)

Only Johnny Thunders.
John Genzale for my taste is perfect guitar player i recognize Steve Jones as one that continues J T legacy
Arthur Kane was on stage all but the drummer who died right before they were about to explode world wide in about 74 75 I think!
@toomuchjunkiebizness 79 nope, JErry died a year after johnny's death
Billie murcia died in 72, he was the original NY dolls drummer
Do you know where i can find more videos of this show? Thank you!
No
It’s from the dvd called “Morrissey Presents The New York dolls”. Was shot in the Royal Festival Hall London in 2004.
Too much too soon or too little too late?
gary powellll

Pensar que después de 20 días de haber participado en este evento, el bajista falleció de cáncer.

Which is nothin. Geezuhs veneral.
the libertines's drummer
I'm tellin ya it ain't eaaaaaaasy:-)
Idk without Johnny thunders it's just not the same.
I know - it's better

It's not the same, obviously but as a new band, its fkin great!

Funny, he doesn't look Scandinavian, maybe the face. It was Europe, the original melting pot.
This is good but its not great and thats when you realize how important Johnny Thunders was to this band. Still one of the best ever.
The wrong audience!
They all look like variations of Tommy Wiseau
