RIP, Syvain, I only just heard he passed. I played with him a couple times in the late 90's... He was a really nice fella, sorry to hear he's gone.

An unappreciated talent. Dug him from young/hippie/punk/junkie days of the 70's to today, get hip!

The new York scene at this time was so cool. Almost like it reinvented itself every night. David has done it all. Punk, soul, blues, pop, folk, and came full circle with the Dolls reunion. The business in NYC was a great experience to grow up in. Playing in bands meeting the giants like David, Johnny thunders, the Ramones, the good rats, Joan Jett, Kiss, the NYHC Family, the no wave thing. The thrash metal scene at L'Amour and the Ritz in Manhattan and Brooklyn was huge, anthrax, Manowar, overkill, carnivore (type o negative). Too many bands to list all owe to the Dolls and David.

I'm very fortunate to have been there during this time with the most talented post-NY Dolls band ever! I played in a girl band & was going to NYU at the time. I remember such fun & fantastic gigs with the late great funny & cool Frankie LaRocka-I just found out from his good friend Andy that he was gone. I still hear his voice-his laugh-his amazing backbeat! TYSM for uploading this! We luv & miss you Frankie! Teri, Linda & Deb-The Jersey Girls. David & Chris Jo & these guys will live 4ever in

Awesome! Gleefully embarrassed that when David Jo sang this tune with our table at the small club where we used to see them that I was singing " I'll be damned" ~ I just didn't know any better! At least I was in pitch! Great memories. Always thankful to the New York Dolls and the various splintered off groups that kept alive great soul music in their choice of covers, be it Bo Diddley, The Contours, Four Tops and even Archie Bell & The Drells ~ "Sure 'nuff groovy now look at me!" RIP Frankie!

I saw this tour....it was stunning, live. hard to explain, David connected, in a small venue. funny, the "punk" thing they help get started was in still in full gear and they were already done with it.

AND....they are ALL from STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.
Some say SI, NY was the "LIVERPOOL of NEW YORK"
There was an AMAZING number of the most talented, musicians, singers and the coolest cats that ever picked up an instrument...in the 70s.
