    Dolls were the original and best punk band ever.Got to meet them back in 1973 at KKKKaty's in Boston.Johnny Thunders told my younger brother to hold on to the girl he had just met out on the dance floor.We got invited backstage because my older brother had bought their first album,and we liked it so much we knew the lyrics and were singing along with them.68 years old and I still love the Doll's music.

      I saw them in Liverpool, at the Academy, in 2006, and they were very good. t
      Two bands, Towers of London and 'Vagabond' in support. All impressive in it's own right. No Arthur Kane by then, as he died two years before.

    This was so heartbreaking as Arthur died so soon afterwards. They got back to the US and within 4 weeks he was dead of Leukemia. I like Syl singing this as he and Johnny were closer to each other and still played together after the Dolls split. I was fortunate enough to see Johnny and have seen the Dolls since Arthurs passing. I think those original two albums they did are masterpieces.

      Paul Evans I thought Arthur died from a brain anyurism as a result of a cancer complication?
      Maybe that was Jerry, anyways I think Arthur was feeling fine then one day felt an acute "flu" and after going to hospital he passed soon after. Peace-
      Arvid

      @@samthunders3611 Thank you. You seem to know what you're talking about. I still think Johnny was robbed, maybe by someone taking care of him as I think he needed aides for a long time by then for multiple reasons. Or it was a "friend"

    Lonely Planet BoyI__I've never heard another song quite like this one. Ever. On their debut album, I can listen to it over & over. The emotion David delivers is so palpable. Lovely and sad and REAL. In a biography of the Dolls the author states David wrote these lyrics in his journal when he was age 15.

    • @ernestodelaserna9494
      @ernestodelaserna9494 5 років тому +2

      Interesting to read of the lyrics origin, but the song does remind me of "That's Poison", the original version of "Subway Train". Which is why I thought Johnny had written the lyrics.

    I fell in luv with these guys on their first album (roller s
    kates?), I was about 13, ahh, funny how some of us are drawn to different music styles but these guys fit me. I liked the Pistols and The Dictators and Blondie as well as the harder types like Sabbath Dio but The NYD's were special. I seen them once luckily at Dayton Hara Arena with four other bands BOC was one , but they were last, at about 1 AM in the morning. Most all cleared out, the Dolls were not impressed with the crowd and what was left. We are all getting old and will follow behind the rest before us. Just remember your brother and your Maker, give due diligence and you will move on. GIVE ME FRANKENSTEIN!
    PULL up some old thunders stuff on live video's, boy he was raw and racial, being from a tough family, town etc. crazy stuff he says.
