Kirsty Partridge Art great video please could you dos and don'ts for ears
Yeah sure :)
Kirsty Partridge Art thanks
Kirsty Partridge Art Hello im one of your subscribers I REALLY liked this video and was just wondering if you can draw ME!!! My Insta is paultorrez27. Thx have a great day!
Are you using charcoal powder everytime you use a brush or do you use it to brush away some things?
scary part is how easy it is too mess up a drawing. Those little details changed the entire drawing wow
ikr
@@vannesiathen3036 Lisa!!!
Step one eat yourself stop to make a sandwich🤩🤪
the don't you did is better than what i do 😂😂😂😂😂
antit souha lol I cant draw realistic people at all
Candice C. You don't have to. There's so many types of art, realistic is only one of them.
i feel ya bro😂
antit souha same

love how you didn’t spend the entire time making sure each feature was 100% exact in your line drawing, but instead chose to really focus on establishing value. I think artists can often forget that having the drawing, painting, etc. be exactly like the photo isn’t the important part, it’s making a product that is technically sound and evokes the photo and it’s subject. great video, really good explanations and use of both effective and efficient techniques.
Agreed :) and it feels most people seem to get crazy about colors. Especially in "skin tones". In my videos I try to "tech" people that the color is waaaay less important than the values as the color changes all the time and no one has "one skin tone". - As this changes even when you walk from one room to the next. And bottom line the artsy look I think is important...to give it a handmake look :)

So I watched a few videos and have concluded these points about Kirsty :
1) she is a great artist
2) she hates shine to the highest of degrees from the deepest parts of her heart
LOL
How about do's and don'ts in shading next? :)
eunwoo god of visuals yeah. I have no problem with the sketch. It's the shading that acts as my kryptonite...
I will do a longer tutorial on shading very soon :D
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Kirsty Partridge Art you're amazing... God bless you
eunwoo god of visuals you a fan of kpop???
Hi! I’m a 10 yo artist and you just helped me create the first realistic piece I was actually proud of! Thank you 🙏
This is the first time I have seen a paint brush used in pencil drawing. What a great tip for shadowing the drawing! Thank you for your excellent use of time, your talent, and educational tips.
its called a freaking FLUFFY brush
If you like it, check out graphite washes. You shave off some graphite from a block and you 'paint' and work it with a brush. Some artists actually use water, sponges, and graphite to help make textures for pieces by moving it all over a paper.
I love how you handled the left eye.
And you also understand how contrast, can make things look more realistic.
Very good, Kirsty!
You should do a do's and dont's about teeth! You know, a smile showing the teeth, it'd be very helpful! :D
ohh thnx god someone brought this up i always mess up the teeth lol daily struggle
Yes i need this
Teeth & various types of smiles. I end up with drawings that look like someone is grimacing with rage or straining to lift something too heavy....
All you have to do is outline every single tooth, that always looks right
Yeah teeth its the hardest to draw.....
even the dont's is beautiful how 😢😢
Lisa 1989 you love jungkook???
Yah
Lisa 1989 It looks like a cartoon version of the photo. That's probably why.
It really is
Liskook...... LiSkOoK
Thank you for this demonstration. I've never given much critical thought on why my drawings never looked 'right'. But how you've explained why, makes it so easy to understand!
Thank you so much Kirsty ! I've learnt more from a couple of your tutorials than I did from doing a diploma in art. You have a inspirational and no doubt hard earn't talent.
hey! I love your art videos! it inspires me so much to create videos as good as yours!
SuperRaeDizzle rae is that you :D ❤️
SuperRaeDizzle you are my first artist that i sub ❤️
Hi! Awww thank you so much! 😊 I love your channel and your videos as well ❤️
SuperRaeDizzle I love your videos!!!
It inspires me to create art as good as hers.
I've just found your channel in the last week and already my drawings (Im a beginner) have really improved. Thank you!!
Lol, when artists say "fluffy brush" they mean a smallish paintbrush, when makeup artists say "fluffy brush" they mean a gigantic, poofy blush brush
xX Ledgendgurl Xx thank you I needed this information XD I always got confused
200th like ( I know you don’t care I’m just proud to be exact 200 )
Dinosharttt aw i care that’s cool man! didn’t even remember making this comment haha
Tbh all of my portraits looked more like the DON'TS side but now I can try and fix my mistakes thanks to this tutorial !
I ask myself why I'm nowhere near her level and then I realize it's because I've only been lying in bed and watching drawing tutorial videos. :(
That’s me right now!

Got back to this video to say THANK YOU KIRSTY. I have improved a lot by watching your vids. You are a very generous person. Hoping for your continous success!
Me: tries realistic
My classmates: is this anime?
Me: I give up
finally someone that showed how they did the facial shading... THANKYOU!!!, and this was perfect timing for me since I am headed to the art store tomorrow to pick up some new supplies
Its artists like yourself [the ones who put their work out there ] that really help me break down the barrier that says you can't do this! And inspire me to try a different area of drawing to work on...manga is fun to draw but if i can get better at realistic drawing then that only adds to my arsenal of what i can offer...time to bust out a new sketch book and continue working on realistic drawing....thanks! !! Already liked and subscribed :-)
Thanks Kristy for your tutorials... Portraits are the most challenging subject to try and master.
1 millimeter off and it becomes a whole different person!!! The techniques you present in your videos, help us to become the best that we can be as "ARTISTS" ... and we thank you!!! "Never Stop Learning"
Wow just wow idk how end up here but I never regretted a single second I watch you drawing. Art is so beautiful and peaceful indeed now I realize.
Super great teaching. Thank you for your instruction processes. Loved watching!
Kirsty you are amazing and great ... You have made the complex stuff doable...A great inspiration who aspire to paint
You are unbelievable! You can see every detail. I wish I had your eyes and your hand in drawing.
Thanks so much, i'm just getting back into drawing after 15 years and faces are my favorite thing to draw! some really handy tips in here i'll definitely put to use!
You deserve so much more subscribers! I've started practicing every single day because of your videos. You artwork and videos literally inspire me❤️
I dunno, that “don’t” side looks pretty good to me
melody adams i can't draw like that.that look good.
If you’re going for technically sound drawing, the “don’t” is bad.
Yea but the do side is much more realistic.
even her don't side looks better than mine :(
The "don't" side is perfect for animation/cartoon drawing. The realistic side is upgraded 😊
I love drawing. Only took 1 class once upon a time... so I really love this tutorial. It's very enlightening. Thank you!
wow, you are amazing. I've only decided to give art a go last week so I'm still in the very basics. It always amazes me what can be done.
Omg u really inspired me to improve my stick drawing! Thank you so much!💓💓💓
I can't even do donts
1990 • i feel yah. 😢
@1990
LOL...LOL...LOL...LOL...LOL.........
1990 it fine keep practicing like me draw a pic every day you'll improve 😄😄😄
@Nisha Giri Lmao how do I copy other comments? If someone said the same thing as me fine. But I personally can't do donts either Lmao
Same
Thank you so much! I've never tried drawing realistic faces before watching this video but when I tried it actually turned out a lot better than I thought it would. This video helped me a lott. I probably would have done all the don'ts if I hadn't of watched it.
Thank you for sharing. Your videos are an enormous aid to any artist regardless or their level of skill. Sometimes it helps to simply observe good techniques. You are very gifted.
I cant believe this young lady doesnt have more subscribers.
Because instead of teaching. She is trying to be to perfect with her do and donts it turns people off
Seeing the reference picture alongside your drawing was really helpful. Thanks for this informational video! :)
Yay I am glad it was helpful :D
Julian Haddad Ioll. 😂😂
WOW, THIS IS REALLY AMAZING. I AM JUST STARTING IN PASTEL PAINTING AND THE DETAIL IS SO EASY TO UNDERSTAND. I WILL BE ABLE TO DRAW MY GRANDAUGHTER SO MUCH BETTER WITH KIRSTYS TUTORIALS. THANKYOU SO MUCH
Can't afford to study in an art school. I'm glad that youtube is made and thank you to those artists who upload and share their knowledge about drawing/art.
Thank you so much!! This video really helped me!!❤
The past couple weeks I have been watching your tutorials. They've really helped me become better at photo realism. Are you self taught or have you had schooling for art? Either way it's really impressive.
I am glad you are enjoying them :) I am self taught, I haven't had any schooling for art :D
Kirsty Partridge Art really? Wow. I got into art since 5th grade and finally decided to go to art school in 7th which also helped me a lot.
Really!?
Amazing. Worth watching just for the blending tips.
How does Kirsty still make the “dont” side still look nice 😩😩😩💖💖
oh damn :( that was good, at the DON'TS I was shocked since that was much more better than what I ever did or could do x) and you smashed that SHOCK with the perfect drawing which is actually much more better than the real one :D
12:26 you are a legend mate thank you
Thank you so much! I learned a huge amount from your video. Please keep teaching the world to draw!
Your “don’t” side.. is exactly what i do.. lol, I’m so glad you showed the don’t side as a realistic error and not a comically basic example of “don’t” like other artists.. thanks so much for this vid!
I love your do's & don'ts videos! ❤
Thank you so much
Thank you for this video it has helped me a lot!!! Also I really loved your jelly fish mermaid portrait.
That is great to hear! and thank you very much :)
My pleasure
You are amazing! The techniques you use are great and something I'd never think of
Omg ! I made it step by step as you said and it's very realistic! Tyvm! It's just my 3rd portrait..
ur donts pic look better than my normal drawing
😂
That's OK. Keep on trying. My eyes are always wobbly
Same
Holy macaroni. You really are good. I once tried a horse. In the end it looked like a camel with elephant feet.
Your drawing looks more real than the picture. You are amazing.
Thank you Kirsty for these tutorials, you're really thorough when explaining your techniques which has helped me so much!

Don't is better than my drawing
And your do is what I can get in hundreds of years
24:37 That moment when your drawing looks better than the original photo! :O
It dont
Mhm 🙌🏼
Thanks ! your work is appreciated and a lot of fun to watch and learn .
i have a passion for drawing and this video helped me so much! i loved drawing since i was 5 and i wanted to get better and draw a real face and this helped me so so much! this Christmas i will buy these pencils so that i could start and exercise my hand with these tips thank you so much!
:) Hi, this vídeo is really good , can you give us the link of the Picture(photography) you use, please?
Dang I only got a number 2 pencil and a regular eraser but ok
Me too rip xd
😥 me too
Press a little harder.
You can do all of this with a number two pencil. It is the same concept. You would just have to take longer to build up the really dark shadows.
same here
So this is how people do it! (I always wonder how do they make realistic shadows like i tried so many times but always failed) this is really helpful for a beginner like me thank you!!
Hi Kirsty. I just watched your great vid on do's and don'ts: How to draw a face...and it's great. I am just starting out with drawing faces and wow you certainly gave me a just start. Thank you a thousand time. I have subscribed to your channel and will be tunned in.
When you can do the face features on the do side but when u draw the shape of the face and hair it looks like the don’t side
Do and don'ts for hands please! I have trouble with drawing hands
here is what i did look at your hand and sketch it lol it sounds dumb or hard but it worked i learned a lot about hands by just drawing my own hand
Awesomeness Is Awesome I use my finger to make the arm
Awesomeness Is Awesome I think many beginners have trouble with that lol.
Hmm... It wouldn't be very good but i can show you how i do it.
Awesomeness Is Awesome , your right I am a beginner I need help with the hands
I could say, well Phil you are never going to get that good. What i will say as a 70 year old person...nearly there anyway. How wonderful to have and see young people with such skills .I have drawn for years using the same sort of pencils and buds for softening but envious and respectfully glad that some young people are so talented . It was lovely to watch ,thank you Kristy.
Thank you for demonstrating how to properly use the graphite pencils! Lovely artwork!!
so inspirational!!! who is watching in 2019? :)
2020
@@TURBOTHETANK23 2021 now
another dont that most artists do is when the go in and draw the eye they dont pay attention to which way it flick. some eye flick up on the outer side and some flick down. its a small mistake i see in alot of drawing (especially mine. lol)
This really helped so much, thankyou, my drawings were definitely in need for an upgrade !
I liked the way you built up the layers of color to make the face more realistic.
Wow, Great job, thumb up.
Thank you :)
To the people saying they can't even do the "don'ts" part: PRACTISE!!!
Do you think somebody wakes up one day with the sudden talent to draw? You can learn everything you've ever wanted but it takes a lot of effort and tons of time! Don't give up and you'll definitely see results but please please don't dismiss somebody's ability to draw as mere talent!!!! They worked very hard!!!!
Love your content, especially the dos and don't video series!
Amazing. Very talented lady. Learnt so much from this video. Thank you xx
How do you erase between a skinny area without accidentally erasing some of your work? I love your work btw😍💯
Ray lee - From watching some of Kirsty's tutorials, she mentioned using a kneaded eraser to finely erase some very thin areas if you need to do it. And then carefully brushing away some of the debris with an art brush. And not with our fingers. I may not be totally correct, but that's what I've seen so far. I'm learning under Kirsty's tutorials. She's amazing! And I thank her and others for sharing their amazing artistic talents.
You are simply Awesome and amazing!! You guide very well in entire tutorial. First time I am watching your video and got amazed 😋😊. You are sweet beauty with So much talent. 😍😘😘. God bless you. I am taking inspiration from you.
Thank you so much! I am glad you enjoyed the video
Creating the charcoal powder and then using a brush for the face was a light bulb moment for me. Thank you so much!
Your art is amazing. I’m probably half way between your do’s and dont’s but I really want to get better at it.
I aspire to be as good as you
HRD 77 you should aspire to be happy and enjoy what you can do, there will always be someone better, love the art and do it every moment you get and the skill will come.
I mean, it's not copied perfectly, but the tips were very useful. And the drawing by itself looks good, it's just not the same person.
I was just thinking the same. It's very good, but she drew a different woman with a few simialr features
@@katerinaadriah Agreed.
what a talent you are the best painter i have ever seen
Hi Kristy, thank you so much for such a detailed description on do's and don't s! This is ideally what I was looking for! Thanks heaps!!!
The shading for the chin came out looking really thick. Then again, it's impossible to notice everything. I walk past pieces two weeks later and notice five things I need to fix.
Yes you are totally right! I suppose I focused too much on the features and rushed through doing the chin. The line is way to harsh. At least now I know for next time :D
Her: you're going to need 4 pencils
Me: Heading to the store
WHAT IS THIS LOCKDOWN DOING TO ME!!!
I learned not to use my fingers to blend. Other tips and demo was very helpful to add to my skill set. thank you!!
Love this video Kirsty, Thank you. Going to make sure I check out more of them
What is the name of the song playing at 18:00? You credited the artists but didn't specify the songs you used.
Mave Gibson
Its Annie Odom's Don't burn out on me. :)
Her: im going to be using 4 different pencils,
Me: **looks at pencil in hand** Well i have one so...
Her: we'll be using charcoal pencils,
Me: well ill be damned. Ill try tho.
Her: and lastly a WHITE charcoal pencil
Me: fudge.
Boogey Woogey you can get the whole range of H pencils to B pencils.
Sameee
@Katherine Murphy xD lololololol
I laughed so hard
Really great tutorial! I took some drawing classes in an art school and i can tell you i learned more from this video than the school.
The brush tip for shading is really clever. Thanks
How long did this take you?
Ty Crenshaw to me about 5 years
Why you wanna know? Not like it’s important.
Possibly 2-3 hours. Maybe 4.
Even your don't is better than my do
ahahahaha
I was thinking the same😕
I'm prepared to state that you are self taught. You were taught from your own observations, directly and without so called teachers directing your work. This has placed you beyond your pears and par excellence within a league of your own. Well done.
I'm a new student in fashion design university, and this video is helping me a lot. thank you!
Damn even her don’t is dope AF! I’m starting to become very insecure
Me: So which one is the photo and which one is the DO side?
RoaringFuryGaming same here...😂
her art is so realistic its amazing! i make more stylized art but her videos are still helpful :D
Your the best thing that ever happened for us who really needs to learn. Thank you 😎 thank you
