Hey everyone! Today I am talking about the Do's & Don'ts when drawing eyes. If your drawing does look like the Don't version then don't feel discouraged. I am simply giving my advice on how you can make your drawings even more realistic! If you enjoyed this video remember to like and share it with all your artsy friends 😊💕ALL MATERIALS USED ARE IN THE DESCRIPTION :D
How do you get the texture of the skin and the sclera itself to look so realistic? Are you using the tac to create this texture or the tissue is some kind of way?
can you recommend a reference for beginners? i'm really glad if you could. im not into portrait. but after watching your video, i just want to try and be good with it. im a fan by the way. i love your works. so if you could help me find some good reference for us beginners. pls. reply
The reason I prefer your do’s and don’t’s series over every other artist’s do’s and don’t’s is because your don’t’s are actually realistic to how a beginner would go about drawing it, therefore bringing out what the real mistakes are. Other ones have an exaggerated 4 year old art piece and don’t offer any specific explanation as to why it isn’t the “do” side. ❤️❤️
Nevir202 dont say you cant do anything. Im sure you could anyone could. Ffollow the tutorial. I personally wouldnt even beable to share a tutorial of my work. Shes doing alot here, by sharing this, just follow it, youll see its really not as hard as you would think. I usually go by these tutorials for practice, i would never completely copy an artists work and share it as my own.
I cant draw the eyes because you need to curve the infront thing (sorry im not good at explaining) and Im not good at drawing nose and lips even hair but i can draw the face shape (Im only 11)
For someone who doesn't know how to draw one... It will be But for someone who has been drawing for more than a couple of years... The reaction would be "Who the hell draws an eye like that?"
These 'do's' and 'don't' videos are fantastic - I seem to learn so much more from common errors, than watching a great 'do' video/tutorial .... it really helps to know specifics about what I may be doing wrong and also gives me more confidence in the learning process. You are a fantastic artist, teacher and personality/youtuber! Thanks so much
Your tutorial make me feel like I can do anything. I have never drawn before but I can actually draw a fairly good start for a newbie so I have decided to put my free time into it and I hope I can create something great.
Brilliant tips throughout tutorial. I am a beginner and know absolutely nothing about drawing so a very helpful lesson that i will take on board. Thank you Kirsty
Bravo Kirsty.. Not just for your great skills of drawing, but your ability to explain, in detail, what is going on during the tutorial. Wheather someone can achieve the do or even the dont portion, we are all still motivated to draw, and that's what is important. Thank you!
Fantastic video, gives me lots of food for thought! I need to teach myself to really, really look at the reference and follow it carefully and accurately to achieve the realism I'm wanting. Thank you very much, I enjoy each and every one of your videos.
I mostly don’t comment because I’m learning a lot and writing something down in the comment section prevents that knowledge to ‘settle’ in my brain (yes, I’m weird but this is one of the more normal things lol) but I just wanted to let you know that you’ve taught me A LOT, even though I’m not quite there that I’m sketching and stuff, I’m growing towards it. For now I only put the things in use colouring-wise (colouring books), you have improved my technique with that as well. So THANK YOU. I’m currently learning and searching so I can buy the right sketching tools for my beginner needs. Although you’ve made it clear that normal pencils and copying paper is fine for now I just want to know more before I start. Not that just watching this will give me talent but still, I might prevent some of the ‘don’t’ parts
your "don't" drawings are still absolutely wonderful. you're so talented??? I can draw eyes pretty decently, but I do make those mistakes. thank u so much for the advice to draw more realistically!!
My thoughts are and echo of what everyone seems to be saying....I'd be proud of the don't one?! Amazing result, your are blessed with a wonderful gift Keep safe...
Kirsty Partridge Art Thanks for replying . I have discovered your channel recently and it really inspired me to draw. Your tips for drawing skin helped a lot.
I'm a kid, but I'm still trying to learn from do's and to perfect my drawing skills. This channel helps me so much to perfect my drawing skills! ( still working on shadeing ) Keep doing this, you're amazing at it! 😚😚😚
Thank you. This is the best tutorial for realistic eyes. I have been drawing for many years and you taught me things I had never done before. I have always drawn more cartoony and figured that was just my style ...but after this tutorial I can say that I now know how to draw a realistic eye & it looks good!
This helped me a lot, not only with eyelashes and skin as i originally intended to watch the video for, but also highlights, waterlines, tearducts and the iris, which i didnt realise i was making a few of the common mistakes that you pointed out on. Thank you very much for this tutorial, i am now subscribed :)
x_moonlightbae_ ArianaGrande.x I find it works, but not as well. I use an HB, 2B, 4B, and 6B. Some are harsher, easier to blend, darker, shinier than others
Thank you so much, I really got the right idea. I have been drawing for many years but also had a very long layoff, like 30 years! I can use this to get a more realistic look. I always drew from my imagination. Love your youtube videos :)
This is friggin amazing! I went from drawing the worst eye in the world to a near perfect - like yours, eye. I cant believe i've just drawn that so well. Thank you! Excellent tutorial!
You were talking about avoiding a dark circle around the iris, but my eye has a dark circle around it. I use my own eye as a reference photo (pictures are made by a professional camera so its a good reference pic) and whenever people see my drawing they're like "o yes i love it but the circle around your iris is pretty dark and bold, maybe fade it out a bit more?" can someone give me some tips? I have bright light blue eyes and a darkblue / black ring around my iris. Its a bold ring
h y u c k c y o n since i can't tell what your eye or drawing looks like, i'll try to fill in the blanks but i'm an amateur at drawing at best so. i don't think a dark iris is a problem. the only problem that i can tell would arise is uneven blending. if you make sure the shading/colour (depending on if you use colour or a pencil) blends out nicely and evenly, then there shouldnt be a problem with a dark iris. also make sure that the iris isnt just one solid dark line, which makes the picture look quite awkward. it's all about blending.
The blue tack idea was really really helpful because I see everyone with these pencil erasers and I'm a beginner, so I was unsure about investing so much in the start
OMGoodness I'm in love, this is such a great tutorial. I am currently doing a drawing for the first time in years and am abit rusty. I'm going to start again and see the differences with using your tips😘👌xx
Hi Kristy, I used your tutorial on how to draw an eye! I am so excited how cool it came out. Thank you a thousand times. I’ll be still practicing. I wish I could send you a photo.
OMG thank you so much!! I wanna improve and learn more with my realism drawings and your the perfect person to teach and help me with this, beautiful job!
I like how she does her tutorials because they aren't a specific thing; by this I mean that these things can be applied to multiple eye drawings instead of how to draw a generic eye, if that makes any sense x3
You're welcome sweetie you should have more than million followers here and in instagram because you seem so nice :) i can learn so much with you thank you💛
@Kirsty Partridge Art When you draw in charcoal and graphite like this, what do you use to prevent it from lifting once you are done? I want to be able to preserve my drawings after I am finished but dont know how.
Hello, very amazing tutorial and art and really helpful. I do have a doubt, at 9:20 you are saying about? "blue tack adhesive?" or something else? Sorry, I'm from different country and probably it's not common here, so couldn't get what you pronounced it/ said ... so anyone could help? thanks!
Thank you for the tutorial Kirsty. These are so great and useful. I improved so much. I hit the subscribe button already. Can't wait for the next video. Greetings from Indonesia.
very nice.but how do you draw the other eye, i am having a hard trying to match the eyes, you make it look so easy, how long it took you to draw like this? . may be it is easy and just get distracted on the process, anyway thanksfor the tutorials...
Just subscribed.Your ability is wonderful Kirsty. You make it look so easy.I have been interested in sketching for years.I shall watch more of your lessons. And maybe move on in my own artistic adventure. Thanks 👍👍👍👍
I've watched this a couple times--love it. Great tips and ideas as always. What I'd like to see is how you would draw an older face--maybe you've done this?--with wrinkles and that saggy eyelid thing. Also, white or light hairs in the eyebrow, and maybe facial hair too. As you can see from my photo, I'm referencing myself, but interested for other people as well.
What a great video! When you make highlights on the eye you refer to a 'blue' something (that you have around the house..) vs. using a kneaded eraser. I cannot make out what you said. Please explain.
Hii Kristy, I really liked the way u have drawn the eye, but can I draw eyes with the help of HB pencils or the normal ones because in my place I cant get a charcoal pencil.
can you recommend a reference for beginners? i'm really glad if you could. im not into portrait. but after watching your video, i just want to try and be good with it. im a fan by the way. i love your works. so if you could help me find some good reference for us beginners.
Is there anything i can use (around the house) that would erase the darker stuff, but wouldn’t really damage the shading on the lighter smudge (shadow in white of eye, gentle shadows, etc.)? ANd who knew my brother had such beautiful eyelashes!
I've been watching your great and useful videos since two weeks and this is the first time i see you. You're the best drawing teacher i've ever watched! 🤗 My drawing started to get better since i started to learn from your advices :)
+Anthony Casiday I agree kneaded erasers are better, this is just a cheaper alternative that people probably have around the house for if they want to give this a go straight away😊

Hii Kristy, I really liked the way u have drawn the eye, but can I draw eyes with the help of HB pencils or the normal ones because in my place I cant get a charcoal pencil.

Can u do a video about the Iris only
I would like to seewhat method you use to draw the facial features proportionally.
Do you use a grid?
So for the tissue paper, can u still use something as harsh as a paper towel? I guess i wouldnt get my results as good as soft tissue
Can you do a video using prismacolor please ? Also love your videos😊😊😊
+Faith Ontell I have lots more videos with prismacolors planned 😊 and thank you 😀
