Learn how to draw faces step by step for beginners with this easy face drawing tutorial using basic face proportions. I go through how to draw faces for beginners from scratch using simple construction lines to help place the facial features. I also go through how I ink a sketch once I have finished drawing a face. Finally I go through how to shade a face to make your face drawing a bit more realistic and 3D. This face drawing is more stylised, however these face proportions also apply to realistic drawings. Therefore this face drawing tutorial can be applied to any drawing, no matter what your drawing style is.

Hey guys! You have all been asking for this video for sooo long so I thought it was time I made it! I hope you enjoy it and find it useful :) Do you want to see me create an accurate sketch for a realistic portrait next time???
All likes, comments, shares and subscribes are really appreciated!
Have a great day everyone :D
Kirsty Partridge Art love you😍😍
Kirsty Partridge Art i was so excited to see this. I primarily prefer reference-free invention. Can you do more like this? Especially with hair? Hair is the weirdest for me and I don’t feel like the references help enough.
Kirsty Partridge Art yes! An accurate sketch for a realistic portrait tutorial!! Also one for animals😁
K.Tugs i am glad you enjoyed it and I have actually got a hair tutorial coming out tomorrow 😊💕
I LOVE this realistic but not style! It's just so beautiful and easy to do!
I’m about a million levels behind this
same
I just discover this method by myself while practicing and I'm doing it
Lol... don't worry you'll get it
Same
You're not the only one.
The best part of Kristy's videos is that she teaches throughout the video instead of a background music which other artists usually use. 😌 Thanks to that I am improving 😊
I like the idea of this because lots of beginners don't know how to draw the face, especially how to do the proportions
Her: -is already half way through-
Me: -still trying to fix the eyes-
Truth T^T
-true-
I mean Hera is sped up so keep going!
How you do the cross thing. I know how to do *_this_* is know how to do *this* and I know how to do _this_ but how do I do the cross thing

Ggx Gangg what are you talking about
Who’s here during the quarantine? Always loved drawing as a child, enjoying getting back into it!
Ikr, quarantine is getting so boring, but at least it gives me time for my hobbies 😊🤩
It was time to pick up a new hobby
Thank you! My husband and I are learning to draw together! We're so glad we found your channel!
The most important things in selftought drawing is to learn shading and not beeing afraid to make a mistake. It's amazing when you can express your mind on paper. The most annoying thing in selftought drawing is that people will see it as a talent. They don't see the hard work and frustrations you've gone trough, they just say it's talent.
there's nothing wrong with being talented and having people say so imo.
I’m a Junior in high school and recently discovered that I have a love for drawing. But my proportions are always off😕thanks to this video I am getting better. Not spot on, but better😁Thank you so much for these tips. They help a lot!

I'm finally getting back into drawing and I am blown away by your art. I just discovered your channel and I really appreciate these sort of videos as a new artist. In most tutorial videos no one ever explains proportion. This helped me in so many ways. Thank you and I hope to see more tutorials for beginners from you. Have a wonderful day.
Kirsty: draws lightly and says I’m making it abit harder so you can see it
Me: I’m trying to draw lightly but it’s as dark as a night sky
I do the exact same thing, no matter how light I press, it comes out dark.
Have u tried using a lighter pencil?
Laurissa Adelhardt use a lighter pencil, and a lighter grip
Well try but am not so good but that cool
Ima ruin the 200 likes

After watching this video, my art has improved so much! I can not thank you enough for your spectacular tutorial.
Kirsty Partridge this video has helped me so much. I can’t wait to see your other art videos
wowwww this style looks so good, and you pull it off so well. I am so in awe of how you can pull off so many styles. youre so inspiring
Awww thank you so much for the kind words 😊💕
yay
This is gold! Thank you very much! I’d love to learn more of basic proportions from you, love your videos. You’re very clear and easy to understand and the way you teach is a nice balance of ‘I can relate’ and ‘this is what you’re supposed to do’
Me: Guess I’m buying the tools today
Me: 30 dollars?!
Me: meh it”ll be worth it

This made me laugh so hard. Reminds me of me except my mom was like "Is that a monster?"
I...I was drawing a normal man. 😭
Hey Kirsty, thank you for all your tutorials, they’re really great 😊 and yes please, I’d love to see more basic proportions tutorials both realistic and stylised 😊🌸🌼
I love your tutorials! I am just a beginner, but just recently I drew Eleven from stranger things and I think it turned out really well, I’m quite happy with it!
Thank you Kristy. I loved this tutorial and your style of teaching. By peaking as you go along makes the lesson alive. I look forward to your other tutorials
Thank you. I went to the high school for night class in art. We used real models, and I loved it. It’s been years, and I needed a refresher. 👍👏🤗
I love your way of teaching. This video is extremely useful. These tips have helped me get my drawings more and more realistic and natural. Many thanks
Thank you, I really had fun trying to do this, it was really simple, clear and helpful
Thank you so much! I learned very quickly and have so much fun, super tutorial!
This is really helpful and encouraging. Sometimes when I start a drawing it looks really “bad” but it takes a long time of working on it for it to look good in the end.. it’s a long process! 💞
Thank you so much for this video! Your teaching method is super great and encouraging! I am CONSTANTLY having issues with faces and I am CONSTANTLY having people ask me to paint faces on small figurines with no established features, like angels. I have tried other methods that seem to have 800 measurements/angles for the head to establish proportion properly, and your gentle technique seems easiest for me!
Absolutely terrific tutorial. Thank you Kirsty!
Brilliant, Kirsty! I always learn a lot from your videos! Thank you!
Thank you sooo much for sharing this video. Today was my first day learning how to draw a portrait. I've been following along, pausing and keeping up. I learned so much watching you. You're a great teacher🌹❤🌹❤
Yes, more basic proportions (and basic everything), for the complete beginners, please!
This was so helpful!!! I always focus a lot on the shading/details and I look over the basics, like proportions, so this was great.
Thank you so much! I love this tutorial and I really would love to see more. 💕💕💕
Man, this is the first tutorial that actually makes sense
I'm teaching myself how to draw from NO experience and NO natural talent and I found this SO easy to follow. My first ever face and it actually doesn't look bad! Thank you so much, I subscribed :)
Hi! I am a beginning artist and this helped me so much! I love your videos and I hope you keep making more they are very very helpful.
This really helped me with my drawings, and now I got most of the basic things to help my sketches look better. Thanks.
Such a thorough explanation, Kirsty. There's a few UA-camrs I won't name that could learn a lot from you.
I'm happy to see someone else drawing with a fineliner and then "colouring" with pencil and stompf! That's how some of my best artwork has been made. So freeing to know you can just erase if the shading goes wrong. I'm inspired to do more in this technique now!
I LOVE this style ❤️ It's realistic, but straight from the mind and more cartoony! #love
Came across your tutorials the other day. I have to say, amazing and brilliant work. You definitely make it look easy, but you do explain things well. I have started to draw in 2016, but mainly have done sketches only and really have not done much in terms of guidelines nor shading. But I am getting to the point of wanting to make more realistic looking drawings. Keep up the great work!
I suck at proportions. This really helped me a lot. Thanks!
I LOVE THIS VERY MUCH BECAUSE ITS MORE SLOWER AND CLEAR
I've been learning from you, and the fact that you talk and advise which many channels don't, so thanks for your upload 👍🙏🐈
Love to see, "how to" hands and feet sketches. Love and Peace from NYC.
Her: *Doing Great* Me: THIS IS SOOO HARD. Who doing this during Quarantine
I like lunar
DatWeirdCreme i have to cause school smh
Amazing sketch! please do more videos like this!❤️
Brilliant- very clear and easy to follow video as well as being very thorough 😊 xx
This is exactly the videos i'm looking for. It explains exactly how to get the proportions right. I think you should make more videos like this for beginners, because most people who search on UA-cam for tutorials are beginners anyway.
Yes I really would love to see more of your drawings! 😍😘💓
Thank you, SO much for not only taking the time to do this, but in the extremely step-by-step camera work. Best I've seen. I'm extremely new to sketching and drawing, but have always wanted to try it. I have bought good quality pencils, some decent paper, erasers, etc. However, I also have printer paper and normal HB pencils - I love that you almost encourage that. I cannot wait to get onto the inking on stage.
I was facing a lot more trouble with portrait sketch. Then I tried the method you did and OMG it turned out into a gorgeous sketch. Thank you💙
Don’t go a day without watching one of your videos. They are great.
Eve Mendes awww that is so sweet! Thank you 😊💕
You are the best artist and art teacher I've ever seen! Thank you so much for sharing.
Yes! I need more from scratch please. Thank You!
Thank you for this! I have drawn most of my life and really I have just been "winging it". If it works, it works ... but now I am frustrated how I am unable to recreate proportion and movement (in the body and length). Now, whenever I see artists, they seem to start out with a rough "guide". This was fantastic, and humbling to watch - as i see there is still much I need to learn. I jumped ahead at some point and missed the basics... So embarrassing. This is y I am a "amateur artist" ^_~ lol
Lovely tutorial Kirstie. Great way to help someone get started. Please keep doing these. And Thank you!🙂
Peggy Henderson thank you, I'm really happy you enjoyed it 😀💕
Hello how're you doing hope you're safe over there?
Excellent tutorial. Yours is the first grid that works for me. I snipped it. ✂️ 😊When I try the standard grid, my subject looks lifeless. You’re a great online teacher. 👍🏽👏🏽
Thank you! 😍👩🏽🎨
Of course, I long to work completely gridless, right from my imagination. 😎
Just wanted to add that I love the art style in this tutorial. I love your realistic style too.
I truly appreciate you taking time to do step bu step it really helped so much i would love more videos like this. Many blessings
Loved having a video with more details of step by step. I'd love more of this! Thanks for a great channel.

This is great as an aspiring artist! Id love to see a more realistic version.

Love this tutorial. You are soooooo thorough.
Thank you so much !!!!!!! I really enjoyed the whole processed. I'm subscribing !!!!
could you do more videos like this? so we can all learn to draw straight from our own brains and not from a reference? Love you kirsty!!!
Thank you for helping me improve my art skills! :)
the thing is u need to practice i decided that i need to be pro at art and im sketching faces everyday , i just sketched this face and it turned out not good but tomorrow im gonna do a new one everyday im gonna sketch a face practice makes perfect , many fellow artisians have practiced a lot before actually becoming pro and they did succeed u should hope to become better , but hope alone is not enough practice and hope and that is clearly enough please dont compare urself to others and say that u cant draw u can u r truly amazing the way you are and you are beautiful with all of your flaws many people will discourage vut u need to stop listening to what they think , listen to what you think , listen to your heart , do you like your drawing ? , do you like your art ? practice and it will become excellent , and never discourage yourself and saay u cant because then your brain will take this fact and insist on it then you will keep on thinking youcant , my sketch looked bad i cant give up , not now
YOU ARE AMAZING AND TRULY EXTRAORDINARY AND YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU SET YOUR MIND TO ❤💖
My improvement after this video is incredible Thank you for the video
You are a brilliant artist :-) I will be following your videos from now on. Thank you.

Wow!!!
You are so talented. Thanks for sharing.
Thankyou so much.that was very informative.
i'm a student and i have found this very helpful thank you
I would like to see more like this, as it is a big learning curve
oh my god - this is SOOOOO what I've needed! Thank you thank you thank you. I'm hoping hoping you have more of these - I am SO bored drawing from pictures, I want to be able to create things from my imagination but that's so hard when you don't yet have the drawing skills.... but how do you get the skills without having to draw things you don't like? Oy. This is perfect. I just tagged you in my instagram post of my drawing I made from this, which I'm pretty sure is better than any face I've ever drawn from a photo. Am now going to look through every single one of your videos and courses in the hopes of finding more of these for drawing figures and faces at different angles. Thanks again!!
