I just bought a 2003 Saab 9-3 Arc with the 2.0 T similar to yours, great overall conditon. It has also had a red paint job, looks good but I can see a few spots where the white basecoat is visable, the masking wasnt the best either.

Just brought my 2007 93 in to be painted at MAACO as well as some dents/bondo. AC stopped working so I'm diagnosing that as well. 150k miles, otherwise, the car runs beautifully.

how was the color match on that. That was the color of my saab i loved that color looked great in the sun or under a bunch of lights at night time the goldish cherry brown hue is a strange color on paper but in person i personally loved it waxed up it looked so sharp and the lines really pop i had a bumper get repainted and it looked 95% the same it was just slightly off they could not color match it for the life of them and gave me a heavy discount because of that.
Maybe if isn't too late you can get the front bumper clear brawed or put a normal braw on,, especially since it looks like its lowered, I've gotta car needs painted due to it flaking but I've haven't found a shop in my area willing to do it and im considering to either spray the hole area w plasti dip or buy air compressor n supplies to paint it myself, its white so cant b 2 difficult
any maaco should be able to do it!
Wow, 1500 for an entire car is pretty inexpensive. I just put on a brand new 9-3 Vector front bumper with the hideaway washers. Just that one bumper cost me $600 at a local body shop to have painted.
Last summer I put a JDM rear bumper on my Evo and that too was $600 for paint.
Also the roof of my 9-3 clear coat looks like yours did. I am going to sand off the flaking clear coat and vinyl wrap the roof. The rest of the cars paint looks amazing still. Only the roof failed, severely.
nice. if my car wasnt such a dark color from the start, i might've considered wrapping the roof black for some contrast and to hide the bad clearcoat. good idea
For the handles, use ceracote.

Hello I'm Morris from southburb of Chicago I have a 2004 9.5 Saab I've been trying to replace my front bumper can't seem to find one that will ship it out to me.. let me know please if u know where I can get that front bumper and I must say love the paint job on your Saab. Mines is sliver ARC need paint job but I'm trying to get the engine right before I get it repainted I look at your to fix my car alot thanks there helpful....
thanks! i'd recommend finding a parts car locally or going to a junkyard. having a bumper shipped would cost way more than its worth.
@@AutoAutopsy it's hard trying to find a front bumper for my Saab 9.5 2004 ARC here in Chicago or surrounding area eBay has them but won't ship it to me or charge a ridiculous shipping fee more than the part cost like $500.00 to ship the bumper and only $187.00 for the part 🤔 I also try the Saab dealership that wanted $900.00 for the bumper and $400.00 to prime it .... so if u happen to see one please let me know ASAP 🙂
Can’t believe it’s been a year since then. How much are those wheels though! I looked on esaabparts and saw 3-400+ per wheel which is crazy to me.

I was just wondering if your 03 9-3 has the aluminum insert in the door sills or are they plain black? I replaced my plain ones when I found some with an aluminum insert and bold SAAB arc. Are yours like that? I'm just curious.

@@AutoAutopsy That's cool thanks for telling me. I got mine at LKQ in Dayton Ohio for four dollars total and they look so much better than the plain black ones I had before. My car is a silver 2007 9-3 2.0 by the way.
You could actually wet sand and buff single stage
For the orange peel, I would wet sand a low spot on the car with 2500-3000 grit and compound, something not noticeable; I bet you can turn that paint into glass. You can do it, the paint will be fine. Any really good detail shop could take out any of the remaining imperfections like that, if you are not comfortable doing it.

I also noticed (perhaps not this video) that your air filter box has a hose on the front, mine doesn't, what is the hose connected to? I do however have something there that I could connect a hose to, but it's closed off, no hole. I have 2004 9-3 2.0t (Europe)
Secondary air injection. Only came on 2003’s. It’s a terrible system I had tuned out

Hi. I noticed your car doesn't have protective strips along the rear window. Was that never on there? Or did you remove them? My car has them, however the rubber has crumbled and it looks horrible (metal shining through). Wondering if it's safe to remove them.
Yes I removed them years ago because it looked terrible. There’s no harm in removing it

I just had my 2003 es300 painted. They did some body work too. 5yr warranty, Great customer service, no orange peel, only overspray I can find is when you open the hood there’s a tiny bit. I paid 1300. Paint plus 3 coats clear. It’s not perfect, a few places where small debris/dust got under the paint. I’m very happy with it.
