Let me know what you guys think! Overall, the paint itself is about what I expected and I’m satisfied with it. Poor customer service and a lack of accountability from things the broke/caused is really my only major gripe. More on that later, I suppose...(if you’re interested!)

I had my -98 9-3 convertible repainted (almost the same colour as yours) about five years ago. Professional job that cost me an arm and a leg. The manager told me that that the cost was a lot more than it would increase the value of the car. I haven’t regretted it. It still look terrific and the rust is still gone. I plan to keep it for many years still.
And yes, I love those sections when you put everything back together. It is very satisfying to see.

That’s tar. Not overspray. And it’s on the underside of the headlight that’s inaccessible.

Those clips for the roof trim are a real pain, at a junk yard I found rails for my wagon and taking that trim peice off so painful because the clips break so easily

A real improvement and looks great, but yeah..what a PITA. Down here in Australia you wouldn't get a whole lotta change out of three grand for the same job as we don't have any "box store" paint places. I'm sure you'll sort out the little things it needs and look forward to seeing the future vids.

My 2011 9-3 DD has a nocturne blue finish, and sometimes in the Texas summer I question the wisdom of it, but it can look so pretty. My '99 Viggen needs a respray, but I don't dare paint it other than Lightning Blue. Fortunately I know someone who has mad paint skills.

I have seen all your videos. I have had Saabs for the last 10 years. My first was a white 900 se 2 door hatchback and then 2003 9-3 vector black and then a Laser red 2005 9-3 arc convertible and now I just bought 1 month ago a silver 2007 9-3 sportcombi aero.
About your painting I love this midnight blue color But you need to finish black the trim, handles and tires to make a nice contrast.

Just got a paint job on my Saab 9-5 and I’m pretty happy for the price. Immediately afterwards though the Saab gave me a p1530 with the CEL. Do you think it’s related to the spraying? A p-1530 means new throttle body. I cleaned it out but still showing the code. 😢
Nice man, looks great, impressing for that price! (a paint shop over here would take around 6-7000 USD for a full respray).
And wow that desert climate is harsh on your cars. Sure we have the constant fight against rust over here in Sweden, but it's amazing seeing what that sun can do to a 17 year old car, that had a high quality paint job as new.
Yeah! It sucks, but as many say, it's better than rust because it can be fixed relatively easily.
Btw try acetone vapor on the headlights instead of multiple passes of wet sanding.

Would you recommend a paint job if the factory paint still looks good? Just wanted to switch the color to the dark gray from metallic blue. Your videos are great
thank you! Changing the color is more expensive than a respray; it's up to you ultimately obviously, but if the paint is still good, i probably wouldn't if it were me. Couldn't hurt to get estimates tho!

Hey man i own a “polar white” 04 9-3 was gonna go to maaco for paint and to take out a few of the inevitable dents have an 08+ rear bumper new front end and am wondering should i take them the individual parts so they dont do a shitty job? Or should i bolt it all on and hope they do it right.
take them everything separately imo; that's exactly why i removed my new bumper.
How does this happen? I know the paint on these cars isn't the greatest but besides the sun, do you leave the car outside a lot? Is the rain more acidic maybe. Curious as I'm considering moving to AZ.

this color was only offered for 2003 on the NG; it's probably nocturne blue or fusion blue.

Why is there so much difference in paint damage between the left and right side? Is it something to do with one side being exposed to the sunlight while parked? Weird how the right doors look so much different than the C pillar. I thought they were replacement doors...

Looking great! In the right light, the purple hue almost reminds me of BMW Techno Violet a little bit. Sorry you had to deal with all that extra drama, but it's over now. Enjoy the car! You deserve it!

Good question. For my 2.0? Yes, I still would. If it were a more valuable car, such as my TX, I probably would have gone to a different shop to begin with

The paint really turned out nice for the money you spent and I think you’re being a little harsh on the company for breaking the roof trim, after all, your car has been baking for years in the harshest Arizona sun, so I don’t think the company is all to blame.That said, as you say, I will reserve judgement till your next video.
The trim breaking is the tip of the proverbial ice berg. I wouldn’t even be upset about that in itself if they had offered to fix it, much less even tell me they broke it.
Battery froze its' cells!....Lol, a-holes worked on it and left the battery connected....at least connect it to the charger. S.O.Bs

This is what we were waiting for for the past 3 yrs.... Congrads! Maybe try and use 3m double sided tape to mount the plates, i have euro plates and it looks soooo much better without that ugly plastic mount
It would ruin the new paint and would leave marks if I ever decide to remove it. I wouldn't call the mount ugly; it's functional
I really don't understand why you stick on sending cars to MAACO ? They are just franchised and sell their name besides they are EXPENSIVE too ! Nowadays, there are so many paint shops out there, and all their paints are matched by computer and work are done by experience workers .... Are you sponsored by MAACO ???
