Hi Chi, I’ve watched fashion channels for years to figure out why I don’t look good in clothes. This is the only channel that has explained. The rule of 2/3. All horizontal & vertical lines matter. Nude v. black shoes. No bulky shoes. Tucking tops in. Purse size & length. The list of truly life-changing info goes on & on. Thank you! 💕💄
THANK you, someone who talks about undergarments! I feel like a lot of people underestimate how important they are. A good shapewear can easily make the dress and your silhouette go from like a 5 to an easy 8!
Your touch of humor is so smart. You even reduce anxiety. Your wit, expressions, editing, your tone, you are just great. I’ve been watching for a bit and wanted to say Thank you. ❤️
Perfect timing! I'm going to an afternoon wedding in a few weeks and found the perfect dress (tea length, high/low hem, fit and flare mikado silk floral - AND it has pockets! :D ) but need to accessorize with shoes, bag and jewelry. I love that you touched on fabrics - not only do certain fabrics lend to the time/formality of an event, fabrics can make a difference in how a dress looks on our bodies. As much as I love loose, flowy, frilly details - I look much more put together in a more structured fabric like jacquard or mikado. Thanks for the excellent advices!
Fabric is critical, I agree. I can’t wear synthetics, so for special occasions, (and plain old everyday, too), I wear a silk dress or skirt and top (I’m a dress/skirt woman, I rarely wear trousers and hate jeans). This fabric, even in matte crepe de chine or semi-matte habutai, my preferences over shiny charmeuse, always looks nice for any occasion and is sublimely comfortable. I wore my simple black silk tank dress to a funeral last week, was perfectly comfy in the 95+F heat, and three people told me I “looked beautiful”. I buy classic styles that I wear for decades and look after them carefully; they last very well, if reasonable care is taking when eating, drinking, etc. They can be more expensive up front, but not necessarily, and I think they’re a great wardrobe value. I have one each in black, navy and pink, so am covered for all occasions. I see polyester dresses in the same price range as Lily Silk’s ones, so why buy the cheapo?
Love this video on petite dressing for special events, Chi! I live in a very Southern climate and the fabric choices you presented are unwearable in our hot tropical summers. We dress up here and have many dressy dinners and events at night. I have found many designers make dressy cotton with a little spandex and also more tailored linen blends that work in our climates. They are all rayon lined so they allow the skin to breathe.
You forgot the gloves and hat as accessories. With evening wear I also use a shawl. My black evening dress has a black wrap with pink inside. If you are older you definitely want a shear beaded shawl with your dress. In summer you definitely want that side brim garden hat. The gloves should be white in summer with your shoes and black with your black shoes.
CHI, I don't have any special occasions to go in the near future, but I enjoyed this video as always. Good tips. I am sure I will come back to re-watch it when I need to prepare for such occasions.
🛃 After being on 😷 C19 lockdowns for so very long, this was the perfect refresher on 🥂 special occasion dressing. Thx for the style tips & laughs! 💚 Bridget from Cali ☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)
Thank you for another great video. Can you tell me what brand the first bag that you wear with the navy dress is? The one that is woven? It is wonderful and seems to go with so much.
Love your tips, especially during this very busy wedding season 😀 Can you link your bags please? And the one shoulder red dress too? They are so pretty. Ty
Sch a cute bucket purse, Pl where did you get it Chi? Also I ordered a long, halter dress from your shop. Can’t wait for it to arrive. But is that ok to wear to a formal professional dinner

Not worth the side effects on your and the planet’s health. There is plenty of research on the harms of
Microplastic dust.
I love this channel. Not only do you show what not to wear and how you would look doing it but what to do! Your humor is delightful 😅.

Dear Chi, you always look awesome. I noticed you were wearing a corset. Can you tell me, please, the brand and where can i buy it? Lots of love💗
That's not a corset that's a shape wear - girdle a corset has boning
