I will never get rid of my skinny jeans. Following trends with jeans seems silly to me. I'm gonna go with what works best for my body type for such a basic wardrobe item
The consumer trap…. skinny jeans are out , get rid of them, no one’s wearing them!!! Next season, buy skinny jeans, they are the rage!! Wide leg is so dated ( in which you spent $$$ last season to be current ) 😆😂😊 Literally can’t keep up, so I’ll just wear what i like 🩷😂😘
Exactly! Get rid of your perfectly good clothes to buy new ones that are going to be out of style by this time next year. Then you will be kindly reminded to get rid of those and buy new ones. Just participate in mindless trends like a good little sheep while spending your hard earned money and creating unnecessary waste.
Following trends is one of the worst thing we can do for our style and wallet. Trends don’t care about our body types and insecurities. I stick to classic items that work for me and if something is trendy and I happen to love that particular style then I’ll get that.
Well said! Animal print was supposedly "out" two years ago, and now it's a big trend again. They're playing games to keep their business humming along.
While I love your videos and great information for us under 5’5 but I don’t believe in following trends, I am grateful for all I have trendy or not, plus how much do we really all need as humans to keep up, it’s all about for me, what makes me feel fabulous not comparing myself to anyone and no one I know even comments on oh that is out of fashion……lol life is complicated and blessed, why do we need to add another level of falseness to our lives, wear what makes you happy, confident and humble for what we have as so many people have little in this world.
Totally agree with you. The existence of trends is a business technique to keep consumers buying continuously. It is so wasteful, polluting, time-consuming and a bad financial choice for most people. The only person in my life who has ever told me what I was wearing was out of trend was a very shallow and narcissistic woman who was abusive to me. After quite a long lifetime of wearing whatever I want (mostly secondhand clothes), she is the only one who ever commented on my untrendiness. Most people couldn't care less, and I know I certainly don't care if others are wearing trendy clothes or not. And even if people cared, so what? Why would you want to lose money and time every season of every year to look like others because some fashion designers somewhere showed certain clothes on a runway? What about wearing what YOU like, instead of letting others dictate what you wear?

@@luciole6048 Completely agree with you. I, however, like to know what's on trend, just out of curiosity. I then wear whatever suits me, on trend or outdated!😁
Amen, sister!!! I'll keep looking out of date while feeling warm & toasty!!! It's too easy to add accessories to "update" a look. This video & the "in style" looks are exhausting. Fold this, pull up that, wear this over that... Too much effort 😂😂😂😂. I wear what I like, feels good & looks good on me.
I click on trends videos because I like to know how to rotate what I already have. To those worried about over-consumption, these videos can actually help you without having to buy new things. I put aside my bright pink sweaters (which I’m sick of anyway), and pulled out some green, grey, and red ones. I love my chunky boots and I have some nice looking square toed boots, so I will keep wearing them. i have a few styles of cardigan, but will keep wearing my loose V-neck one from old navy and not my tight fitting one, unless I wear it backwards or tucked in like a shirt. I planned on buying new jeans, so knowing about the trend helps me adjust my choice. As for skinny jeans, like Chi, I keep them to wear with winter boots, because other pants would just bunch up. So, lots of good tips, even if you don’t want to shop. I also love that Chi shows the difference a small tweak can make.
Following trends may be fun, but it gets costly too. I can't be buying different things every year and getting rid of them a year later. There definitely things I cannot wear well, no matter how stylish they are. I am nearly 75 years old and try not to take on "frumpy," but on fixed income, I can't always keep up.
Wear what you want. These people make money from influencing you to buy new clothes. Most of them have no credentials to tell you anything about style. Wear what you want and be happy.
I'm becoming more and more convinced that, as long as the clothes fit, I should store them until the trend circles back around. I remember hanging out with a granny who had some wicked cool 70s poly outfits that she kept for some reason, and the styles later returned, making them not only in style, but authentic.
I'm animal print girl. Love faux fur and Mary Jane shoes. I'm still wearing my favorite cardigans and skinny jeans. Thank you for the update on fall trends that are in and out of style this year.🎉
Oh my gosh, I love all your videos. I just wanna say many great thanks to you for helping me understand style. as a content creator myself, I needed someone to educate me on how to pair better on camera and with your style techniques and tips I’m sure I’m gonna start to look much better❤😊
My grandfather made me red patent leather mary janes when i was six yo. Best shoes i ever had. Never stopped wearing them. I buy them in school shoe stores.
What beautiful looks your updates create. I appreciate these tips and incorporate your ideas into how I wear my clothes. They make a positive difference on me (5 feet, no inches).
Hello Chi Thank you for your work and all the tips and tricks you shared over the years. They helped me (and other people) A LOT. I especially appreciate how your channel is not only thorough, with visual exemples, but also more about "how to make it work for you" and "why it doesn't work on you" guidelines than strick "do and don't do rules". That said, I have a similar bodytype than Wendy, your petite hourglass model, and I would be very grateful for an episode (or even better a mini-series) focusing on this bodytype. Because some things simply work differently for us than for thinner petites. I am certain that many other would be interested too as there aren't many other who focus on that. And it would be very interesting to see your (and Wendy's) ideas on how to make all sorts of syles work on us (wide legs pants, tappered pants, maxi or mini dresses, buttoned shirts, cropped tops, long coats, coats in general, sweaters, jackts, loose/oversize items, boho, smart casual, office casual...) with specific and tailored tips and tricks (like big bust, wide hips, big butt or thick tighs in summer). Thank you for considering this idea weither you can do it or not :)
All of you complaining about her saying to get rid of your skinny jeans, she does say that she is keeping hers, at least for wearing boots. Anyway, trends just depend on the year and location. Loafers are huge in Japan for some reason right now, for example.
Thank you for this enlightening video. I feel the same way about skinny-leg pants: I will continue to tuck them into tall boots this winter; they look so chic. I'm glad to see that animal prints are making a big comeback, since I adore them and have bought so many. Thanks for all the advice!
Just do the classics and what fits for your body type and personal style. Everything else is just noise designed to separate us from our time and money. 😂
Thank you for this topic today. When conducting business representing my mom I need to look current. I try to buy only a few new trendy pieces to mix with my older pieces. I feel confident. I do like chunky mid calf boots though.😅 And strappy Mary Janes with the 1-2" heel.
The reason we are in the position we are in is because we listen to the fashion industry tell us what to wear and not wear. U are doing the same. Souls wear whatever feels good to you. There is no trend there never was and anyone telling other wise is trying to sell u something u don’t need!😘😘❤️
i've always been into chunky / platform shoes. It makes my legs longer and they are comfortable. But these shoes are more of a edgy, punk, rockish vibe feel so they do not suit certain people who are into too feminine type pf dressing. Mmmm..some people are suitable and can carry off certain styles/trends but some ...it's just not for them.
I certainly realised as I get older I suit flared jeans best as skinnies just make my legs look fat so wear what makes you feel good! I’m 5 f 2 and 11 stone. 27 inch inside leg
Wide jeans over skinny jeans? NEVER. I don't follow trends, only buy clothes that fit me, are classy, timeless and good quality. That's why I've been wearing some pieces for years and they still look good and get me a lot of compliments.
I found a sneaky way to wear my very comfortable chunky shoes . I hide them underneath my very wide leg jeans adding 3 inches to my height ! I also wear my platform chunky sneakers under my floor length dresses . I am so comfortable , and walk with ease whilst adding quite a bit of height ! I do not wear them with anything that allows you to easily see them ( following Chi’s advice )
So glad the square toes are going away. Something like those shoes is the definition of trend, you could see how they wouldn't be popular anymore in a year or two right away.
It's funny - I'm tall (5'9"), but I have shorter legs and longer torso. The advice for petites and adapting the more relaxed fit works really well for me!
I like your vids. Im 5ft 3. Can you do a vid on 'meno belly' and how best to disguise it. Its depressing. I used to be hour glass. Jeans seem a no no now.. And meno belly isnt just low belly, its starts from below bust, to my horror!
So basically what was trending yesterday is not today and what’s trending today will be gone tomorrow and yesterday’s trend will be back sooner or later. So basically wear what you feel most comfortable and confident in! I’m Gen X and I wear skinny, straight, wide leg jeans/pants. I also don’t have the budget to swap out my wardrobe every year so I have a mix of yesterday’s styles and today’s!
I love relaxed fitted clothes, not too baggy though. Actually have been wearing this style for several years now. Once considered frumpy, now on trend. I’m about 5 feet tall and managed to balance this trend by not wearing a relaxed top and bottom at the same time. Either relaxed top with slightly fitted bottom or a fitted top to a relaxed bottom: always worked for me. Detailed cardigans is a favourite, that compliments any outfit. Animal prints, belongs on the animal, not on humans, not for me. Again, no to animal furs.
@catherineochia9996 Why? We all know that fashion and consumerism was a big trap that made the rich richer and the poor poorer. Fashion looks cheap. Few, classic pieces of good quality combined with each other give us prestige and leave money in the bank account.
It's not what you wear, it's the way you wear it. Skinny jeans with longer boots and chunky layers, classic cardi with silk cami and jeans - French style, chunky footwear suits edgy short and cropped styles, and some long Boho. If it's your style wear it. Style is better than fashion.
Love my chunky style heels and can’t see myself ever abandoning them. I like the look of my footwear taking over my whole outfit. It’s quirky on a short girl.
I do not understand comments like, “I don’t believe in trends, I just wear what makes me feel good”. Good for you, but don’t watch trend videos and don’t make self evident comments. Isn’t it obvious you shouldn’t wear trends that don’t resonate with you?
Yes! For me comments like those give off the energy that "I am better than others cause I don't care about trends". It's like they still have to announce it because they want everyone to know that they could follow the trends if they wanted to but they choose not to. 😂 People who actually don't care don't watch these type of videos and certainly don't feel the need to make announcements.
I think it’s because this channel is about petite women so petite women watch this and are not always waiting for trends bc not all the trends are fitting for our body. So I understand why people are saying that.. sometimes it’s not about being or feeling better than others but it can be triggering to hear that you’re apparently out of fashion but the only thing you’re doing is searching for clothes where you’re feeling good in with a certain body type. Hearing you’re out of fashion can give the feeling of not being enough in this world. At least for me.
If you don’t understand something, it doesn’t mean it has no right to exist. For example, I don’t understand people giving orders to others like : “ don’t watch trend videos and don’t bla- bla- bla” 😅, so what?
The problem for me with the larger button down shirts is when tucking them in or making them shorter there is so much extra fabric. It makes my waist and tummy area much bigger. I guess I won't be wearing these shirts.
I like to watch videos like this one so I know exactly what to wear not to look like everyone else! I prefer to stand out so I don't wear trendy clothes and accessories, except if I love them and can afford them, which almost never happens since I always find other things I prefer to buy before.
I wish I had the option to go back in time and tell my young self that fashion is for fools.( and rich label owners).. and to find out what clothes I most love and wear them with comfort and the joy of being truly myself. What a lot of time, money and anxiety I have wasted on this subject in my 5 decades. Relieved that I know now what nobody taught me then. The fashion industry relies on the human need to belong. It is a really ridiculous industry.
It took me forever to get on the skinny jeans bandwagon. I literally saw people starting to wear wide-legged pants again the day after I ditched some of mine at Goodwill 😢. Now it might be time to switch back to bootleg again!
Chi I have a problem with shoes, my heel is narrow than my toes. If I go a size smaller to accommodate the heel then I’m squeezing my toes. Do you know any shoe brands that would be good for me? I’m between a 6 and 6 1/2; all I want are ballet flats either round or almond toe, and heels. Heeled sandals are cute as well. I just don’t know what to do anymore, I can’t tell you how many hours I spent a day on the internet for shoes.
I have duck feet. Look for shoes made with a combination last. Chances are, slingbacks and loafers will never work for you. For athletic shoes, I think Rykas are still made with a wide toe box and narrower heel. It is a challenge.
You probably need a shoe where you can choose the size by width. I'm a 7.5 D. Regular is B width. I can wear an 8 B loafer or oxford, but I have to have the 7.5 D if I want a low-cut shoe like a ballet shoe or a pump. If the heel is still too loose, try gel pads that go inside your shoe around the heel. Or if the ball of the foot is a little too tight, you can get a shoe stretcher or have a shoe repair shop stretch them for you.
Don’t worry. I just returned from Italy and saw a lot of cardigans there ( yes, with contrast buttons is a new trend I think). You can easily see it googling f.e. camomilla italia and cardigans. Summer and new collection. Sorry, I trust Italians more than Chi and who knows what “ trends”? 😂
Don’t throw out your skinny jeans I’ve seen multiple things in magazines and other creators that guess what they are back. And they are always in style tucked in boots for fall. As for cardigans, the big thing now is to do the top button only
Chi, how do we petite girls wear wide leg trousers in winter? With a coat on top, I would be swamped as I am only 5’ 0! There is also the problem with long wet trouser legs in the rain! I feel like I have to wear skinny jeans in winter so that I can wear boots and a long warm coat. A short coat in winter would be too cold, but if I wear a long coat with baggy trousers I would look lost in the fabric.
No faux fur for me, nor huge wide pants. But I still have my leopard leggings, and faux snake kitten heels. I discovered crop tops and vests and I'll stick to them. For the rest, I'll adapt and stay a little more classic.
How do you manage to tuck in shirts without it looking bad ? I never know how to do it properly and since I'm always sitting up and down, it always partially comes out and I end up looking like a hot air balloon
Everyone saying that they’ll never leave skinny jeans because they “work for your body” and you won’t “follow trends” … skinny jeans are literally skin-tight denim that is in your closet because they were hugely trendy for years lol.
Hmm, chunky shoes are just getting into fashion in my country, they are sold in practically every shoe shop. Maybe we're just behind the times. :D I sooo dislike animal prints, they are so tacky!

Cardigans will never go out of style. Mary Janes is like throwing money down a well for people in rainy climates -- shoes you can never wear most of the year.
I will never get rid of my skinny jeans. Following trends with jeans seems silly to me. I'm gonna go with what works best for my body type for such a basic wardrobe item
I'm keeping skinny jeans, but just to wear with tall boots in fall/winter
Good for you! These videos are suggestions.
You know I’m a millennial and have to say that I’m enjoying the wide pant trend, I find it comfortable
Supposedly they're passe, but the stores are full of them.
I i neber understood skinnt jeans. The most uncomfortable crap ever made
Classics never go out of style. Small tweaks in accessorizing or pairing can freshen them up!
I agree. Adding a scarf, jewelry or layering it keeps it timeless and modern.

It's not what you wear, it's the way you wear it. Skinny jeans with longer boots and chunky layers, classic cardi with silk cami and jeans - French style, chunky footwear suits edgy short and cropped styles, and some long Boho. If it's your style wear it. Style is better than fashion.
I like a good round toe shoe - no hammer toes or bunions 😂
I love round toe shoes as well, and I'm sticking with them!
Love my chunky style heels and can’t see myself ever abandoning them. I like the look of my footwear taking over my whole outfit. It’s quirky on a short girl.
what is out of style is over consumption.

So true! My calves are big so I love the wide leg trend vs skinny. Select what works for you
I think it’s because this channel is about petite women so petite women watch this and are not always waiting for trends bc not all the trends are fitting for our body.
Skinny jeans work well with knee high boots.
It depends. If you have a great shape ...Ware anything you Damn please !!
I am a curvy 5ft 1. Boobs, bum, hips, shoulders, waist. I've had a child.. I can't get rid of skinny jeans and leggings.
I have a tummy so I definitely will not tuck in my shirts, what's the alternative?
The problem for me with the larger button down shirts is when tucking them in or making them shorter there is so much extra fabric. It makes my waist and tummy area much bigger. I guess I won't be wearing these shirts.
Yes. This is my problem too. I look like I have a bigger stomach than I actually do.
I think fitted shirts are much more flattering than big, baggy shirts. I'm sticking with my fitted shirts, even though they are now outdated.
Only one thing is really out of fashion: Overconsumption.
Square toed shoes are still in style. And lug soled shoes are definitely still in. And Lug soles do not make legs look short.
I like to watch videos like this one so I know exactly what to wear not to look like everyone else! I prefer to stand out so I don't wear trendy clothes and accessories, except if I love them and can afford them, which almost never happens since I always find other things I prefer to buy before.
Mob wife aesthetic = animal print, fur coats, gold jewellery, big hair, and bold eye makeup or bold lips
BIG gold jewelry, and lots of it….
In my country, Argentina, chunky shoes are always in trend. I don't know why, maybe because they are comfortable.
Not going to throw away a whole collection of cashmere cardigans 😅
Still like my chunky shoes too
Chi I have a problem with shoes, my heel is narrow than my toes.
@@edennis8578 D regular? B width? I never heard of this, I just look for medium, narrow and super slim width.
One thing i will never wear is the long high white crew sock trend - fight the urge my fellow millennials! 😂
@rocklobstah1876 lol I get you ! I think that's for ppl with slim calves or long legs. Otherwise look like overgrown schoolkids with fat legs for some
Lol I love them, hated ankle socks 😂
I wonder if short cardigans can be updated with button covers to make them look on trend?
Don’t worry. I just returned from Italy and saw a lot of cardigans there ( yes, with contrast buttons is a new trend I think). You can easily see it googling f.e. camomilla italia and cardigans. Summer and new collection. Sorry, I trust Italians more than Chi and who knows what “ trends”? 😂
So glad square toe and chunky shoes are fading (for now).
“The clothes you currently own are bad and wrong now. Spend all your money on these slightly different versions instead!!”
Yes trying to get people to buy more needless stuff.
The half tuck !
I think it's great if you are thick around the middle, and feel uncomfortable tucking your shirts into your skirts or trousers.
Hi Chi, What brand of wide leg or a relax jean looks good on a petite? I have on tried too many and they all look too much! Thanks
Hi Chi love your long hair looks great 💛🙏
Skinny jeans fitted all the way to the ankle are very uncomfortable and only look good on very slim people. And very few of those. 😂
I really wish sweater sets would come back.
Don’t throw out your skinny jeans I’ve seen multiple things in magazines and other creators that guess what they are back. And they are always in style tucked in boots for fall.
As for cardigans, the big thing now is to do the top button only
In the Telegraph fashion they are saying skinnies are back for winter
Animal prints -- this is a STAPLE for me. All seasons.
I love how people go on videos related to fashion trends just to comment they don’t follow trends. 🙄🤷🏼♀️😅
and they all refuse to dump the skinny jeans😂😂😂😂😂
@@mary33909😂
Take what they want to use and leave the rest
It’s to help people not to fall down the over consumption ladder.
Love your videos Chi, thank you for all your fabulous advice❤
How do you manage to tuck in shirts without it looking bad ? I never know how to do it properly and since I'm always sitting up and down, it always partially comes out and I end up looking like a hot air balloon
Everyone saying that they’ll never leave skinny jeans because they “work for your body” and you won’t “follow trends” … skinny jeans are literally skin-tight denim that is in your closet because they were hugely trendy for years lol.
If you keep your body in shape, toned muscle then you can wear everything ofc adapted to your height, weight proportion.
wear what you like we are rainbow being. Life is too short
I m not a fan of the over sized fashion being 5 f 2 looks ridiculous on me😂
Animal prints are gaudy, hard pass
Real fur coat = ❌
Faux (fake) fur coat = ✅
***please be kind to animals
Hmm, chunky shoes are just getting into fashion in my country, they are sold in practically every shoe shop. Maybe we're just behind the times. :D
I sooo dislike animal prints, they are so tacky!
I'll keep looking out of date while feeling warm & toasty with my cardigans!!! It's too easy to add accessories to "update" a look.
This video & the "in style" looks are exhausting. Fold this, pull up that, wear this over that...
Too much effort 😂😂😂😂.
I wear what I like, feels good & looks good on me.
Cardigans will never go out of style. Mary Janes is like throwing money down a well for people in rainy climates -- shoes you can never wear most of the year.
I watched another video saying pointed shoes are out for 2024 so who knows
I hate high weist jeans and trousers..
Im just getting rid of jeans in general.
The last few years I noticed rarely wore jeans. I had to look nice a lot of places I was going and black cropped stretch pants just looked better.
I like trends
Unfortunately, trends don't suit everyone, and following the latest trends can lead to poverty.
Chunky shoes aren’t going anywhere
I'm not gonna stop wearing chonky shoes ☺
