"so I know what direction to point you in - are looking for something casual or more formal - like work" and whatever they say, then walk them over to the appropriate area and start asking what size they are etc... If they say they are "looking for a gift for someone" then you can ask "is it for someone special?" if yes, then you can ask if they were thinking along the lines of perfume/cologne, jewerly, etc and proceed to ask more questions. Hope this helps.

I believe that most of the these traditional sales tactics do not work anymore. They best thing you can do is let them know that you are here and come from a genuine place. Do not lie about scarcity. People pick up on that and call you out. Only discuss scarcity when it’s actually applicable and when you can prove it to them. If you work in a small store, invite them to browse and give them some time to process first. If you work in a big store, offer them something physical like water or mints 10 minutes later and approach with a benefit or interesting fact about that product. I’ve been in sales for 12 years and people never respond well to telling them that it’s going fast or that the last day of the sale is today. People like people that give them space. They aren’t as social as they used to be. Make them laugh and you’re in the game. Have favorites and go-to merch for specific situations. Mirror their body language. I agree with showing them that you like them.
Ive been selling my own stuff 5+ years and I agree to a point. It's not about 'lying' about scarcity, it's about letting people know you are doing something better at a good price for the value, and that alone creates scarcity because you are telling them they can't go elsewhere to get what you are offering. Also, it's not deceptive to have a sale and let people know it ends soon--a valid ending. Thats just being honest and giving good info. I think some retailers take this to an extreme and have things perpetually on sale, but it still strangely works in this day and age because people still fee they are getting a deal, even when they aren't really.
Everything said here is true! I work at a retail store that sells jeans, a variety of jeans that are for different types of body types. How do I become better at selling cell phones for Sprint? Also how would you go about converting a customer over from one carrier to Sprint? Thanks for your help! You're awesome!!
I recently did not buy a phone in a Sprint store because the person lied to me on value and provided no insight. She said the LG G5 was a super value at a discounted price of $350. I used that phone in the store to research and learn I was getting ripped off and her 50%-off story didn't have squat for value. Plus, she didn't know the hardware specs for any of the phones. I tried to dumb it down to smoothness in games or intensive apps and she had no clue. She didn't know the 4G bandwidth of the network for the area. She had no clue about network and hardware benchmarking software/websites. I had never purchased a smart phone before and knew more about how they function than she did. She didn't know what new phones were coming to sprint. Told me a phone wasn't going to be available, although I already researched before hand and found it was (the Samsung J7), which was supposed to be released to Sprint that day according to reports. I ended up buying the G5 for $175 refurbished on eBay and a sprint chip for $10, delivered to my door and activated in 3 minutes via phone tech. It is every bit as good as new. I wasted over an hour in that Sprint store and 1hr of driving. She was an assistant manager too lol. The rest of the employees in there either didn't know anything, either, or they just didn't proactively give a damn. They were playing on their own phones most of the time. Forget sales tactics, I'd say know your business first!
icawn that's pathetic. Most retail sales associates are as dumb as rocks, in my experience. I almost don't even bother asking questions anymore because it's almost guaranteed they won't know the answer. I mean, do these people get any product training at all?
ladistar Probibly not. They don’t get paid or trained to sell effectively, but to simply run a store. Sales is a very personal thing and if associates aren’t paid commision or don’t care about comission, then they’ll provide bad costumer service. Thats why good salesmen end up in realestate and car lots where the sales pay large comissions.
Honestly.. i walk out of stores if a sales person insist on a pitch after I say "no thank you I'm just looking around". I like shopping alone in peace.. please stop asking me..
This is the only video that is relevant for me. If I buy clothing for my mom @ LL Bean, then I'll request a female sales associate. Mostly I'm approached by helpful ladies.

Subbed!!! Thankyou for another great example of objection handling... first class
How about when customer says after knowing the price, and it always happen, " ok, let me consider" or " ok, let me think about it " and want to head out of the store
Ask them 2 questions.... Do you like the product?... Can you afford it?..... If the answer to both them is yes, then they have already thought about it....
This video is great, keep smashing it.
the best i been looking for the topic and founded thank you
Thank you Martin!! VA
Omg, you're good👏 I'm not a sale person but all of your videos are great. I probably buy anything you sell. Seriously
Can I help you find something? I love it when people come in to browse. Let me show you our highlights. I like you. SCarcity, social proof. Influence book.
Thank you! VA
Thank U so much Victor. Really appreciate it. This is gold
One of the best lecture given so far... wao...
❤very good training for retail sale associates
Do you have for jewelry repair and sale?
This helps me so much in furniture sales
@@Moetcartier at my job I didn’t, I have a physical labor background, and a high school drop out, I really fucked up my life when I was younger and now I’m fighting to make something for myself, my boss is just an awesome guy who told me he sees his younger self in me so he helped me out a lot
I just started working in a seasonal store and our policy is to approach the customer to encourage them to buy our products and accessories. But I get real nervous when approaching a customer and find myself asking the same thing to every customer. "Hello can I help you look for something specific?" Or "Where you looking for something in particular?" And most customers simply say No or that they are just looking around. What can I do to better my situation? I really do strive for being successful and helping out customers. I just feel a little lost.
He answer this concern in this video
This is very helpful! Thank you
I was just browsing videos and you made a sale 👍
Good info Bro! Very helpful for retail.
Thanks MR! VA
Excelent advise being following and is working thanks!!!!!
Double O, thank you! VA
From a customer's point of view, when I say I'm just looking around, I mean it. I'm offended by sales people intruding, and I feel like leaving and find somewhere that won't interrupt my browsing. Just be available when I want assistance.
I agree, you don't want to be an obnoxious salesperson...be helpful,...be ready...be aware of the customer in the store.
Precisely why I ignore sales associates. When I want assistance, I will ask for it. But, until then, do not pester me.
This video is very helpful! Your videos have helped a lot keep it up! :)
victor thank you very much.
That was awesome, thanks so much, I needed that! I just subscribed!
I'm such a good buyer, so I do not need someone to sell me.
Yes you need to prepare so you don't miss those opportunities when they come.
Very good tips thank you for your help!
Thank you for the video!
wow a good presentation
i have heard this same thing on Dan loks page....who is the owner? is this copy n paste..whats going on
Man I wish this guy was my mentor.
Im going to work at a clothingshop and with these tips im going be the best seller of the store.
One of my coworkers says "that's how my buyers start."
Excellent video‼‼ keep it coming!👍🏼📈
Thank you! VA
great info, have a great evening, cause I will
I use " That's fine. We don't charge for looking"
Honestly.. i walk out of stores if a sales person insist on a pitch after I say "no thank you I'm just looking around".
I like shopping alone in peace.. please stop asking me..
so right. You are the best.
This is the only video that is relevant for me. If I buy clothing for my mom @ LL Bean, then I'll request a female sales associate. Mostly I'm approached by helpful ladies.
great video! Focus on retail was useful. Thanks
Thank you! VA
I always use is there something in particular your after it’s a much better approach cuts the crap out they tell you exactly what you want to here to close the sale
this is the best selling technique
Summary:
Saying “Can I help you find something” increases sales by 30%
Social Proof increases sales. What People see others doing, they think they can do it as well / or will do as well.
Add Scarcity. The Audience Needs to Buy Right Now.
Saying “I Like you” to an Audience and Mimicking Body Language Makes people like them more.
Be Friendly, Excited and Enthusiastic.
Great video thank you for your help
I do not know how how to apply these golden tips to my job (Front desk clerk).
Depends what you're trying to sell...if you're selling at all. Help me understand what you want to accomplish. VA
I work in a high end clothing store and we rarly have sales and I feel peolpe who can’t affored the produt come in just to look. How do I make them buy ?
When I use scarcity, the customers almost always say, well if it's gone later then it wasn't meant to be. I come back with, you're here, the RV is here, looks like it's meant to be today.
Good information
Thank you! VA
This is fantastic!
I always give some space to customer to choose what they want. But my supervisor scold me for not help the customer. so confused.
Hi Victor... Just came across your video. GREAT STUFF! Do you have a section specifically aimed at retail sales training? If so, where can I find them?
