  • Starting the Cadillac Fleetwood for the first time in several weeks in the lovely Australian autumn/fall weather. Perhaps not technically a "cold start" as the car buffs would put it, but close enough I suppose. This is an extremely rare vehicle in Australia, one of perhaps only a handful, and was imported to Brisbane from Los Angeles in 2008. Previously one-owner in excellent original condition.

    @pskittle488 Thank you. My other two Cadillacs both have the amber lenses, but they are professionally done so I thought that was the original set-up. It wasn't until a trip to the States that I realised it was not original. I certainly prefer the US way. I have seen some dreadful makeshift amber signals on Cadillacs in Australia.

    I know for old cadillacs, you have to pump the gas pedal like 4 or 5 times before you start it, my friend has one and it's 23 years old

    Nice old Caddy. Those cars were quite unique. It's a good thing you didn't have to change the rear turn indicators to amber which would have ruined the whole look of the car. I myself don't like the combination tail lights so prevalent on American cars but if a classic car was made that way you should not have to change it.

    @joebuckjajaja Only certain cars, the Seville for one. This Fleetwood was carburated only.

    Not sure if there's such thing as a 'cold start' in Brisbane lol.
    Are you allowed to use left hand drives on the street?

  • @DonaldTaft
    @DonaldTaft  14 років тому

    I dunno, it's getting pretty cold up here now. Yes, LHD can be driven here but they must be 30 years or older - so this just qualifies by a few years. I have another one that I have to keep for three years before it can be driven, though - yikes!

    Very nice car, glad you don't have to put those stupid amber colored lenses on it. Nothing worse than seeing a set of those on a car that never had them to begin with. As for it sounding good, it does.

    I wouldn't call the 77's downsized. They're less large.

  • @joebuckjajaja

    Did 76 cadillac's have fuel injected system's?

    • @dmcnamara9859
      @dmcnamara9859 6 років тому

      Yes....electronic Sequential Injection...that used an additional transistor Pigtail on the HEI Distributor to set off the injectors. They could be problematic if the engine compartment was allowed to get dirty.....and the only way to re-set/adjust the idle mixture screw is to remove the "tamper- proof" plug GM installed on the Throttle-Body to satisfy the EPA and California CARB folks.If you ever come across one with a high-idle once warmed-up...it's because the idle-mixture screw has loosened over time.
