I went into a dealership to replace my two pick up trucks. I sat down and looked at the options and it was over $220,000. I walked out five minutes later. I’ll keep my old trucks because I take perfect care of them and I’ll stick the $220,000 in a money market fund.

I had a 2016 F150 XLT with 50k on it. The body mounts were starting to fail, the capless fuel system had failed, the battery would go dead if it wasn't driven for a couple days, 2/4 sunroof drain tubes vibrated loose and leaked because no barbs or hose clamps were used on the fittings, and its 5.0 coyote had lots of unhealthy valvetrain noise. Never again.
I will never pay more than $30k for a car or a truck. This is a principle. The best used one for that kind of money is still a great, relatively new one minus the initial depreciation.
Was shopping for a 2024 Tacoma till I saw the horrendous price spikes on them. Ended up getting a 2023 Frontier Midnight Edition Full tech/premium package under 13k miles for $28k.
I bought one new Nissan truck and had to replace the engine at 87K. Bad crank ended up doing a new clutch radiator and water pump, all the housing and tune-up..... It was pure junk... !!!
I done made a million dollars with my 99 f150 with the 4.6l have over 350k and still purss like a kitten ill actually trust that one over my 02 7.3L powerstroke lariat fx4 super duty on the road. Don't get me wrong my 7.3 is reliable asf to. I'll never go newer then an 02 that's really to new for me. And I'm 35
Ford builds some great small cars in overseas markets. The Fiesta was a super reliable number one seller in Europe. They brought it to America and put a junk double clutch trans in it with defective clutch plates. Ford makes some absolutely moronic decisions.🙄
My neighbor and I used to ride horses so she had a 2 horse(power) trailer. Being a very smart woman, she bought a good used Toyota Tundra and got 17 mpg towing. She also paid for Michelin tires which lasted a very long long time.
Just changed my tires to Firestone Destination LE3 on my Frontier. Had them on my Murano. Can't wait to see how they hold up. Expensive, but they're all up in price now so you may as well go with the better tire.
Gm and Toyota are the only way to go I won't lie though. The 150,250 and 350 are very good trucks. I have considered buying one because they can go for high miles.
I had a 2008 F-150 with the 5.4 Triton 3 valve. It was a pile of junk. The steering rack went bad at 55k miles, the 4 wheel drive went out at 75k miles, I had to replace the VCT solenoids multiple times, and the phasers would rattle like crazy any time I was in 4WD low range. Hated that truck. Love my Nissan Titan XD though.
I work at a Ford dealer as the detail manager, we sell the mavericks like hot cakes, and some escapes (dont buy an escape though). What sits? Mach E's, the $90k trucks, and the big broncos. Mach E's need to go away, 26 have came back that they sold through our dealership and 4 lemon lawed due to all of their problems.
Maybe you can explain what the heck Ford was thinking with that? Is it a sports car? Is it an SUV? Is it an economy EV? What the heck were they thinking!?

Most people nowadays want a crossover or SUV so they went that route but sadly called it a mustang. The mustang 2 is more of a mustang than the Mach-E and the Lightning? Just as bad as the Mach E, but now you have a crappy electric truck.
This is proof what proper maintenance can do for even a ford. Most of these things fall apart due to negligence so I probably wouldn't ever buy one used unless it was owned by a mechanic since new.
In Oakville, Ontario they were retooling the plant for weeks for production of EV vehicles . Just yesterday they announced, scraping the production of EV cars at mentioned plant, all together. They are lost.
E85 increases power. It's a fact. And only a few differences injectors, oxygen sensor and stronger fuel system make flex fuel much more reliable scotty .
I picked up a 2019 Ford F450 Cab Chassis 4x4 on the floor. 2019 was the last year that they offered the V10 Gasser and the four on the floor, and mine has both. $25k in like new condition.
Unfortunately, when I look at these extremely complex new cars, all I see is a lot of things to go wrong and a lot of money going down the drain in an attempt to go from point a to point b.
Even though I own a Honda and likely will buy Honda in the future, I have an itch to get a Ford Ranger 4x4 base model. It’s a workhorse and I have drove it couple times for work and have seen how it can power through some serious conditions.
I owned an '88 Ranger, 2.9L V6 XLT 4WD, 5-speed manual. Bought it new (Ford dealer was a business pal). Ended up keeping it 13 years and 125k mi. It was a great little truck. No issues at all - no lie.
I've never heard a good thing about the 5.4 "triton.." The 4.6 wasn't anything to write home about performance wise. But other than eating intake manifolds........
As long people are buying pick trucks to get a normal ride or even doing food shopping,but nothing for what that truck was built or intended to be used for,prices will stay high,while quality is low. A truck was intended to do heavy work back in time…not to be used to travel 100 miles per day or more for just shuttling to a regular office job for example. So blame the consumer for buy something that they don’t really need…maybe once a year or so….
When I was younger pretty much only farmers and workmen drove pickup trucks and they were cheaper than cars. If you had said back then that pickup trucks would become the rides of the snobby rich, they would have laughed at you. At today's prices no one is laughing. I bought a Corolla for my day to day transportation and for the very occasional time I need to haul something I can just rent a truck or pay for delivery and in the long run I'm saving TONS of money. Forget the manufacturers, you have to do what's right for you. If you need a truck for business, you either bite the bullet and pay through the nose or buy used and take your chances.
OK kudos to the big V-8. Just curious, I just purchased a 2015 F150 with 89,000 miles on it. Garage kept immaculate condition inside and out. I saved a ton of money because I did not want to spend crazy money on a brand new truck. Did I make a mistake because it’s got the V-6 twin turbo. Not planning on pulling, but may be a little small trailer 3000 pounds at the most. Just pulling it every once in a while.
I don't even know why they make 10-speed transmissions or even 6-spd transmissions. They must be horribly complex and expensive. I .LOVED the 3-spd Torqflight 727s and the Ford C6, also a 3-spd trans. They work great and last a really long time. Screw the crap they are putting out now. They can keep it. =PC=
I own a 2001 F150 5.4L SuperCrew (180,000 mi.) and a 2013 F150 5.0L SuperCrew. I've never done anything but routine maintenance to them. The best engines Ford has made are the 5.4L 2 valve and the 5.0L Coyote. Everything else is junk. GM makes great powertrains, but the interiors are worse.
Meh, I'm not into trucks anymore, I'm moving towards cars that get 60 mpg . I'll save 22,000 more than the truck owner just in gasoline over 10 years 😂
IDK they are selling plenty of trucks at the Ford dealership I work at. There is plenty of dough out there. I myself sold three 90 to 105 K in the past month to friends and a cousin and I’m just a part time runner.

Ford makes a pretty good truck but the rubber oil pump drive belt in the 2.7 ecoboost engine was a mistake. If I had known about it I wouldn't have bought mine. Too late now. They got me.
This thing wont pull 3000 pounds over 65 miles an hour I have a 2005 5.4 it’s a wonderful truck as transportation and light duty and I can barely get out of its own way and definitely doesn’t pull a trailer worth a crap
He is completely wrong about e85. I run it and it gives me a 16 in horsepower. 50 cents a gallon cheaper than 87 octane. So if the mileage gets a little bad it's kind of a trade-off. But yes you are off base about horsepower Los s
Around here, there is rarely more than .15 difference in price between 85 and 87. I have heard that the gas mileage goes down with the same percentage as the price difference, so no reason to mess up the car with so much ethanol.

Then i bought a 23 platinum, which they lemon bought back, then a lariat, that they lemon bought back, then another platinum also lemon purchased.. bought a very used 93 f250 351 and manual transmission i am paying to be ground up restored, will be about 60k less expensive and work.. 😂 so.. good luck..
You better rethink your decision….. Scotty has pointed out his concerns about Range and build quality on the Cyber Truck. Rent one and see if it works for you.

European Ford knows how to make smaller vehicles. Original Focus was made by European Ford. US Ford messed it up. The 2nd generation US Focus was horrible-looking. Then US Ford used faulty DCT (Dumb Clutch Transmission) in Focus.
I had a Ford Maverick in the 70s, but it was a sedan back then. 6 cyl, roomy, no power steering, no ac. Rusted to death. The plastic heater assembly fell on my husband's foot while driving, no metal left for screws. On the way to pick up a different used car, exhaust fell off. Memories.

In my area the Tacoma and the Tundra are just as expensive as the Ranger and the F150. All of them are way overpriced.

I bought one new Nissan truck and had to replace the engine at 87K. Bad crank ended up doing a new clutch radiator and water pump, all the housing and tune-up..... It was pure junk... !!!
I done made a million dollars with my 99 f150 with the 4.6l have over 350k and still purss like a kitten ill actually trust that one over my 02 7.3L powerstroke lariat fx4 super duty on the road. Don't get me wrong my 7.3 is reliable asf to. I'll never go newer then an 02 that's really to new for me. And I'm 35
Today, I got my 2008 F150 Lariat SuperCrew 5.4 L back from Maaco with a freshly painted roof. Never had a problem with this truck. 125,000 miles.

Ford builds some great small cars in overseas markets. The Fiesta was a super reliable number one seller in Europe. They brought it to America and put a junk double clutch trans in it with defective clutch plates. Ford makes some absolutely moronic decisions.🙄
My neighbor and I used to ride horses so she had a 2 horse(power) trailer. Being a very smart woman, she bought a good used Toyota Tundra and got 17 mpg towing. She also paid for Michelin tires which lasted a very long long time.
Just changed my tires to Firestone Destination LE3 on my Frontier. Had them on my Murano. Can't wait to see how they hold up. Expensive, but they're all up in price now so you may as well go with the better tire.

the ford 4x4 transfer case motor lubrication can start to solidify and by cleaning out the motor and regreasing it can fix the problem
I had a 2008 F-150 with the 5.4 Triton 3 valve. It was a pile of junk. The steering rack went bad at 55k miles, the 4 wheel drive went out at 75k miles, I had to replace the VCT solenoids multiple times, and the phasers would rattle like crazy any time I was in 4WD low range. Hated that truck. Love my Nissan Titan XD though.

I work at a Ford dealer as the detail manager, we sell the mavericks like hot cakes, and some escapes (dont buy an escape though). What sits? Mach E's, the $90k trucks, and the big broncos. Mach E's need to go away, 26 have came back that they sold through our dealership and 4 lemon lawed due to all of their problems.
Maybe you can explain what the heck Ford was thinking with that? Is it a sports car? Is it an SUV? Is it an economy EV? What the heck were they thinking!?

Most people nowadays want a crossover or SUV so they went that route but sadly called it a mustang. The mustang 2 is more of a mustang than the Mach-E and the Lightning? Just as bad as the Mach E, but now you have a crappy electric truck.

New vehicle's are very fragile
This is proof what proper maintenance can do for even a ford. Most of these things fall apart due to negligence so I probably wouldn't ever buy one used unless it was owned by a mechanic since new.
In Oakville, Ontario they were retooling the plant for weeks for production of EV vehicles . Just yesterday they announced, scraping the production of EV cars at mentioned plant, all together.
They are lost.
E85 increases power. It's a fact. And only a few differences injectors, oxygen sensor and stronger fuel system make flex fuel much more reliable scotty .

I paid off my f150 and went looking for a new one. I decided to keep the truck and I bought a 2001 toyota camry instead.
I picked up a 2019 Ford F450 Cab Chassis 4x4 on the floor. 2019 was the last year that they offered the V10 Gasser and the four on the floor, and mine has both. $25k in like new condition.
That Bakflip tonneau cover on the bed is the same as I have.
It's the best there is.
Unfortunately, when I look at these extremely complex new cars, all I see is a lot of things to go wrong and a lot of money going down the drain in an attempt to go from point a to point b.
Even though I own a Honda and likely will buy Honda in the future, I have an itch to get a Ford Ranger 4x4 base model. It’s a workhorse and I have drove it couple times for work and have seen how it can power through some serious conditions.

I owned an '88 Ranger, 2.9L V6 XLT 4WD, 5-speed manual. Bought it new (Ford dealer was a business pal). Ended up keeping it 13 years and 125k mi. It was a great little truck. No issues at all - no lie.

As long people are buying pick trucks to get a normal ride or even doing food shopping,but nothing for what that truck was built or intended to be used for,prices will stay high,while quality is low.
A truck was intended to do heavy work back in time…not to be used to travel 100 miles per day or more for just shuttling to a regular office job for example.
So blame the consumer for buy something that they don’t really need…maybe once a year or so….

When I was younger pretty much only farmers and workmen drove pickup trucks and they were cheaper than cars. If you had said back then that pickup trucks would become the rides of the snobby rich, they would have laughed at you. At today's prices no one is laughing. I bought a Corolla for my day to day transportation and for the very occasional time I need to haul something I can just rent a truck or pay for delivery and in the long run I'm saving TONS of money. Forget the manufacturers, you have to do what's right for you. If you need a truck for business, you either bite the bullet and pay through the nose or buy used and take your chances.

OK kudos to the big V-8. Just curious, I just purchased a 2015 F150 with 89,000 miles on it. Garage kept immaculate condition inside and out. I saved a ton of money because I did not want to spend crazy money on a brand new truck. Did I make a mistake because it’s got the V-6 twin turbo. Not planning on pulling, but may be a little small trailer 3000 pounds at the most. Just pulling it every once in a while.

I don't even know why they make 10-speed transmissions or even 6-spd transmissions. They must be horribly complex and expensive. I .LOVED the 3-spd Torqflight 727s and the Ford C6, also a 3-spd trans. They work great and last a really long time. Screw the crap they are putting out now. They can keep it. =PC=
I own a 2001 F150 5.4L SuperCrew (180,000 mi.) and a 2013 F150 5.0L SuperCrew. I've never done anything but routine maintenance to them. The best engines Ford has made are the 5.4L 2 valve and the 5.0L Coyote. Everything else is junk. GM makes great powertrains, but the interiors are worse.
I DON'T buy new and I DON'T buy from dealers. I save tens of thousands of dollars on all my vehicle purchases.

IDK they are selling plenty of trucks at the Ford dealership I work at. There is plenty of dough out there. I myself sold three 90 to 105 K in the past month to friends and a cousin and I’m just a part time runner.

Ford makes a pretty good truck but the rubber oil pump drive belt in the 2.7 ecoboost engine was a mistake. If I had known about it I wouldn't have bought mine. Too late now. They got me.

This thing wont pull 3000 pounds over 65 miles an hour I have a 2005 5.4 it’s a wonderful truck as transportation and light duty and I can barely get out of its own way and definitely doesn’t pull a trailer worth a crap

He is completely wrong about e85. I run it and it gives me a 16 in horsepower. 50 cents a gallon cheaper than 87 octane. So if the mileage gets a little bad it's kind of a trade-off. But yes you are off base about horsepower Los s
Around here, there is rarely more than .15 difference in price between 85 and 87. I have heard that the gas mileage goes down with the same percentage as the price difference, so no reason to mess up the car with so much ethanol.

Then i bought a 23 platinum, which they lemon bought back, then a lariat, that they lemon bought back, then another platinum also lemon purchased.. bought a very used 93 f250 351 and manual transmission i am paying to be ground up restored, will be about 60k less expensive and work.. 😂 so.. good luck..

2011 and up 5.0 I would buy. They became oil burners in 2018.
European Ford knows how to make smaller vehicles. Original Focus was made by European Ford. US Ford messed it up. The 2nd generation US Focus was horrible-looking. Then US Ford used faulty DCT (Dumb Clutch Transmission) in Focus.

I had a Ford Maverick in the 70s, but it was a sedan back then. 6 cyl, roomy, no power steering, no ac. Rusted to death. The plastic heater assembly fell on my husband's foot while driving, no metal left for screws. On the way to pick up a different used car, exhaust fell off. Memories.
Be careful, my dad had a 1960 Maverick, but he totaled it because the engine blew up, so he bought a new 1970 Volvo.
