The view down the hood reminds me of what I saw in my grandparent's 1983 Cadillac. It was a light yellow inside and out (NOT school bus yellow). A rare and beautiful color. The smell of the leather interior and all the features were a thrill for my young kid self. Oh yeah, there was an actual bell in the dash that would ring as the seat belt reminder. That was some high society stuff!

@@JW_Reviews I think in the 80s the big 4 door Cadillac was called a Fleetwood Brougham. I believe Fleetwood was stitched in the door panels on my grandparents car. It’s been gone for 25 years. Gotta go by aging memories. 😄

Njoy that landyacht.

My father's older brother purchased a Fleetwood Brougham de Elegance new in 76. Light blue with a white padded top.
It had every option availableincludingthe power moon roof. Seems to my recollection that his had the 3rd side " opera " windows. When he died in 91 that car was very low mileage and still in showroom condition. It brought a good price. Fleetwood was still putting some quality into their interiors where the run of the mill Caddys had really gone badly downhill in the mid 70s.
Wish I had that car. Thanks for sharing yours.

That looks like the velour interior to me. Velour is arguably the most luxurious of upholstery, but that's up to the individual, ha ha!

Actually that's the standard (but still very plush) Fleetwood Brougham upholstery. The Talisman had wide, vertical pleats plus a front console.

I had a 1970 Eldorado with the 400 HP version of the 500 cubic inch engine. This was the highest horsepower ever put in a Cadillac from the factory. Also, I had true dual exhaust added at a muffler shop with glass pack low restriction units. I used to amaze onlookers with clouds of tire smoke coming from the front tires. It was very quick to respond to even partial throttle inputs. What a beast!!

I guess that at least makes two of us... Nobody seems to use them anymore.
By the way, if you slip the steering wheel's center pad/spoke pad off and tuck those institched ends in underneath it when you snap it back on, it almost looks like a "factory" leather wrapped wheel.
    She's a beautiful Fleetwood Formal...

LOL.....20 yrs ago I had the unfortunate experience of taking my driver's test in my father's 1976 Fleetwood Talisman. (It was a choice between our 1965 R.R. SC3, or Talisman.) My Beemer wasn't delivered yet, the only cars available were from my father's collection, and the RR & the Caddy were the only one's I could find a key for. (My parents were traveling abroad.) Needless to say, after learning to drive through the driver's ed car, a chevy celebrity, I was ill equipped for either behemoths. Surprisingly I did well enough in the Caddy EXCEPT for the parallel parking. I had to re-take the test again in my Beemer. TO THIS DAY...when I drive the Caddy...I still can't parallel park the beast!!

Great video! 99% of the folks out there will never have to opportunity to drive and appreciate one of these lost-forever Cadillacs. I have the 76 convertible and your video gets you as close as you can get without actually driving one of these iconic beauties. I found so many of the things that you demonstrated on the 3 types of driving "city, highway, and country" amusing. From the sounds of the blinkers to the excessive body roll with the "pinky" steering. You clearly captured what these rolling sculptures were designed for. Cruising in absolute comfort and style. NO, these cars were not meant to take a curve at 100mph. NO, these cars were not meant to do 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. NO, they were not meant to get 30 miles to the gallon. If you had to worry about fuel economy back then you could not afford to drive a Cadillac. To expect this means you missed the whole point and purpose of a Cadillac of this era. I may do the same type of video with my Convertible unless you beat me to it...lol

    James, Nice, beautiful beast!
The jump seats always intrigued me, the passenger in the jump seat and behind the jump seater, both got the short end. With today's gas pricing, out here in Calif. over $6.00 a gallon, what it must coast to fill up the Fleetwood, however if you own this tank price for gas is probably not a concern.
    Thanks for this. 👍

The mid to late 1970s were transition years for this type of Cadillac. Up until this point, they were purchased new by either rich people who had a personal chauffeur, by governments, or by corporations for senior executives. Afterwards, more and more of them were sold to businesses who rented them by the hour. The trend was to longer limousines and custom (not factory) conversions. Cadillac finally gave up on factory limousines after 1987.

Fun POV ride, in a very nice car! Sounds rattle free except for one little creak that was pretty constant throughout. Seemed like you really got it to move out well on the freeway for such a huge car! That was the last year of the Mega presence Caddy! Surprised the top expanse dash was hard and not padded or was that it just sounded hard when you tapped on it? Dash is perfect and not cracked, very nice. Looks like the steering wheel cracked like most did, and they covered it. Loved the blue velvet seats, they were very comfortable, not cold in the winter or hot in the summer. By '76 they had gone to the casket door handle pulls, earlier years had a thin strap that broke especially on the heavy 2-doors. Someone loved this car very well and took nice care of her! Love seeing your pretty little town & country side! Very idyllic! Enjoyable ride James!

Yeah the dashboard is a little loose on the drivers side and it moves just enough to make a noise, I really wish it wasn't there 😞 But, I guess that's just something that happens with almost 50 year old cars lol. Yep, the dash is all hard plastic, nothing soft to find up there lol. And this car was definitely taken care of! It was in California for most of its life so the weather was good too. Thanks again!!

Wow what a beautiful Caddy! I used to own a 72 Sedan Deville which was a nice ride, but I love the interiors of the 74-76 Cads much better.
Your Fleetwood seems so relaxing and peaceful to drive. You also have some pretty smooth roadways.
I would never drive an old Caddy as nice as yours in a state like CA where our street conditions and freeways look like they have been hit by missile strikes and an earthquake! Potholes, uneven lumpy lopsided pavement and cracks that you swear bombs had of been dropped on top of them. We absolutely have atrocious infrastructure in so many cities in CA that’s it’s unbelievable especially when compared to so man other states.
    I loved the drive! 😎👍

That was quite nice. So the quarter windows are only blocked off by the vinyl roof on the outside? Odd that there isn’t a panel to cover the glass on the inside.

Aside from that one annoying rattle, this is one quiet car. The wheelbase is so doggone long it canceled out the railroad track in short order.

2-3 features I think you missed...
The passenger side outside mirror remote control, to the right of the steering wheel.
    The automatic parking-brake release.
And .. for a series 75... a view from the driver's seat out the back. What's really intimidating about these cars is how LONG they are behind you. It's crazy! (I have a '70 model of the same car.)

The 1976 is possibly my favorite year. And the Fleetwood would definitely have the best ride given its wheelbase and 5,000 lb. plus curb weight.

This car is amazing the size is out of this world bigger than any of these weak Trucks/SUVS of today! !! The Fleetwood as far as size and length far supersedes the Buick Roadmaster, Chevy Caprice/Impala SS, the Lincoln, Crown Vic and Grand Marquis sheesh

Reminds me of the days we floated down the roads like on a cloud....My father bought strictly Oldsmobiles from 62' on he bought just Olds Ninety Eights, they drove like on a cloud especially his 65' Luxury Sedan model. Before buying Ninety Eights he was buying 88's. We had a 55' Rocket 88 2 door Hard top before he bought the 62' Olds. The late 50s and 60s were a great time to grow up as a kid. A whole different era compared to todays sh!thole society.

I checked with the original sales brochure and this car sits very high on its suspension. The bottom of the fender skirt just clears the Cadillac emblem on the wheel cover but it this case there seems to be an inch between them. It sits high in the front too.Was the suspension raised beyond factory height with this car? Nice car otherwise.

I can’t wait for more. Btw. Anyone knows how this would drive fully loaded? 8 people on board adds a looot of weight:-)

Thank you!! I really, really appreciate you helping attract more people to the channel. That's a really nice thing for you to do 😁 And that's a great question! I'm guessing it would be a good bit slower but it's already a very heavy car, so who knows how it would ride. I'll have to test that out someday 🤔

The added weight is compensated with the self-leveling rear suspension (air shocks with on-board compressor and valve) and all those bodies add less than half of the curb weight!
