Glad to hear that it worked out for you in the end and your spirits seem pretty high despite the ordeal, it has to do with your positive outlook on life, I think. Take care and looking forward to your next video. Cheers.
The videos are super informative. I’m also moving to Zhengzhou in June and was gathering info about the teaching jobs there. Now I’m able to process my next step as your videos showed me the exact direction. Thank you so so much. Would like to hear from you more on Zhengzhou. 👍🏼💜
good for you to upgrade your job .. 30,000 RMB salary sounds nice though. It's good to keep making that monay as long as you are building a foundation towards something special .
Welcome to live in China! I am a citizen of Chengdu and I am a postgraduate From UESTC. It can be found from the video that you are quite familiar with China.
My dream is to move back to China and live there permanently. But I realize this might be very difficult because I do not have a bachelor's degree and I am not from an english speaking country, even tho english is like a native language to me. My Chinese proficiency is hsk 4 and I just really want to move back to China permantly to bring my Chinese up to a completely fluent level. I just hope it will be a possibility.
Were you born in China? Same here. China is the safest country. US going to collapse soon. All chaos here. Apply for scholarship and study college in China. They give scholarships to foreigners.
Nay, it is not negative. What you stated are things that happened on the ground, real situation. Not white washing to please or sprouting false facts. Here in Singapore I also witness small privately run sector subjecting the foreign workers to unfair work situations, and at times at the mercies of the employer. Unless the company is well established and followed the labor law and proper guidelines laid down by the government, therr will always be improper conduct. You give good tips. Thanks
At least you were working as an English teacher there, my British friend (native speaker, B.A., with TOFL) got hired by a training center in Shenzhen, and her job was to do only sales classes (not real teaching, just demos). These training centers are EVIL, glad you say it out loud. Good luck with your new role, and Changzhou is my hometown too.
Im not a native speaker but my english level is around c2 do you think when i take my CELTA certificate i can teach english in China? I speak closely to native speaker.
Oh, good to know! im researching because I want to teach English in China and the first site I came across is TEFL but now im not sure about it... So after you left the training center you went to a private school - how did you find the private school? like through a program or through their website?
Hey, so I got into contact with an agent and she helped me find my new job. If you are going to come here, do not go to a training center. Go to a private school, international school or a kindergarten.
@Andre江健 hey Andre, thanks so much on the informative video. I kindly ask for the details of the agent that helped you, its really hard finding a reliable one these days. Thanks once again.
You're mistaken, pal. Curriculum should be written by people educated for that, not by native speakers, because native English speakers are also taxi drivers, buchers, non-educated people.
Obviously, I meant native speakers with the right credentials. Why on earth would a butcher write a curriculum? However, even then, a butcher would still do a better job than an educated non-native. Just think about it, this person has spent his whole life speaking English, he may not be able to explain the grammar well but he knows when it's right and wrong. English is truly difficult for Chinese people to master; even after living abroad for several years many still struggle with the basics. But I have the same issue learning Chinese. I will never be as good as a native Chinese speaker. Think about it this way, would you want a foreigner or a Chinese person teaching you Chinese? Of course, you would want a native person teaching you. It's the same here in China; the preference for native speakers by parents is huge.
@@andré-8888 I met many NES working at semi-private semi-public Chinese schools, who didn't know the language they taught. Neither proper writing, nor grammar. What a joke! Even many educated ENS teachers say non-natives can be better teachers than them, especially in terms of writing, grammar and teaching methods. Honest ones, of course :) Yes, parents insist on natives not knowing what they may not know. I prefer good teachers, educated to teach, write curricula, etc. After all, professionals, because the person and their qualifications, skills do the job, not a passport.
Can I teach in China without a Bachelors degree but as a native speaker with a TEFL? I was teaching English for two years in Thailand. Now looking for my next opportunity. I appreciate the advice and already looking for Private Schools.
The English business in China is a minefield and the Beijing government have been coming down on it- to be fair, it needs reform and tighter regulations. However, just like Covid, the legislation is forever changeing and the recruit of foreigners will face closer scrutiny.
Haha, what you commented is true. Living in Australia for more than ten years, I’ve been travelling around Australia and found out everywhere is Australia is similar even in very remote areas. People are nice and places are clean. But in China is a different situation. Every province in China has their different dialects, people have different civilised levels and different cultures. Some cities are cleaner and some cities are dirtier. Personally, I don’t like Zhengzhou either. 常州的周边城市苏州杭州都不错,假期多旅行,你会在中国发现更多你喜欢的地方。Good luck! Andre🙂
Great video man and I really appreciate it. I am well into my process with Keyword learning center in Shenzhen and it's my first TEFL job. Are there any options you would suggest i pursue or any advice you could give me going forward? Thanks again for the great video.
Hello Andre, I'm currently in Wuhan China teaching but I don't want to renew my contract. My employee is extremely dishonest and I want to leave but I strongly feel like they are going to be difficult to give me my release documents. What are the options if they don't give my documents? If I get on the visitor's visa, will that make the process any better? I know I will have to find a new employee in the process.
Congrats on you. I think you are such a nice guy.Sometimes, I even imagine it would be so nice if you can be my son in law.Every family has a problem,I hope you understand this Chinese idiom,家家都有一本难念的经.In China, many parents worried a lot about their daughters cannot find a husband. The situation is worse than leaving a job
Speaking of spitting, that’s prob the thing I hated most when I traveled to china. Literally every few minutes you hear someone spitting, disgusting. Beijing especially, and I did once ask an uncle why he spit, his logic was they smoked a lot and they needed to clear their throat to throw out the bad stuff instead of hiding it in their body. Oh well… 😂
Yeah I figured out after a while as well that the reason they spit so much is because they smoke so much. Especially the men. I've noticed that smoking is a big part of the culture here, there is a lot of peer pressure to smoke because it ties in with doing business and making connections etc.
@@andré-8888 Looks like China does have a smoking problem. Time for the government to educate the younger generation and ban smoking. You are unlikely to change to old folks so start with the younger generation. I supported the government in controlling these 'money making centres'.
