Nice video man, I hope you do another video when you get to Hangzhou. My wife is from Hangzhou and we plan to move the family out there at the end of the year. I'll most likely be doing the English teacher thing for a while and most of the videos I've seen suggest going for private schools. Not sure how I feel about teaching kids though, it looks like you need a lot of energy and pep to keep up with them! Looking forward to your next videos.
@andre5095 hi Andre bro, you seems a great guy and I seen your videos very information I'm coming to China at the end of September please any chance to meet you there and learn more from you. I am also coming as an English teacher.

Import export is a great potential earner. I have a wife and young child so teaching English just didn't pay enough for the life style I wanted so I run my own business in the UK and work April-August in the UK then take the rest of the year off in China

Hi Andre, thank you for sharing this video! Your content is getting better and better with every video and I am really enjoying it. I have all the qualifications to teach English in China except for completion of the TEFL course. That aside, I am looking to find an agent to help place me in a school in China. I was wondering if you had any recommendations for agents who can facilitate me getting a job teaching english in China? I am open to working anywhere. Thanks Andre :)
Nice to see you getting along with the routines in China! And I'm curious about your plan to move to Hangzhou, it's like, if you're about to work in import/export stuff, why not consider looking for opportunities in Shanghai (like together with your girlfirend), which definitely has more companies having businesses globally?
Plus, as a college student in Shanghai, I'd really like to know that are there many Chinese people who can't speak English in smaller cities? The fact you shared has shocked me😂
Funny you should say that because before I met my girlfriend I was planning on moving to Shanghai. However, since my girlfriend's industry is in Hangzhou (IT), and also I realized Hangzhou has a lot of advantages over Shanghai for example, it's not as expensive to rent, and there's a lot of natural beauty there like the West Lake. So for these reasons, I will move to Hangzhou instead. In regards to working in import/export, I think it's something that I will do after 2 years. This will give me enough time to get my Chinese to complete fluency and also get an even better understanding of China.
This Anrew is not from Austrailia, he is a Finnish born in Sweden with relatives in europa Union government. date up chinese girlfriend in china without government connections and far away from foreing business center sounds too spy.
Regarding the protests, I heard there's many protests actually. And we saw the protests first hand during Covid which forced the government to do a 180 change on their covid policy. So it seems there are more protests than meet the eyes and sometimes, those protests bear fruit.
I loved this vid. I can tell that you are just being sincere with cool and useful content! Thank you for not being lazy this time and making this vid! hahahaahha I'm thinking of moving to China after my undergrad. I'm not from a English speaking country, so being an English teacher is not really an option, but I do want to build a career there. Do you know if there is opportunity to work in China as a translator? I feel very insecure because I wanted to move there with a settled job, not looking for job while there, so I don't know if I need an agency, if the companies there usually help you get job visa... I don't know if my questions will be answered but thank you in advance and I'm looking forward for your future videos! Take care Andre! :)
Distilled water is one of the best ways to purify water, unfortunately it also removes everything, the bad and the good. Does the distiller unit come with a mineral replenish unit that's plugged in to add the minerals at the end. If not, you should seriously consider doing it manually or it will slowly create deficiencies over time.
I've seen the lockers in my apartment building but I don't know how it works. I just got to China a few days ago. I also haven't seen a foreigner yet, only Chinese people so far. I'm in Kunshan city
Hey, I'll get on it. I do like Chinese food, not all of it but a lot of it is pretty good. Regarding safety, it's exceptionally safe in many aspects. For example, walking on the street at any time of the night or going to clubs and bars is all very safe. China has one of the lowest firearm ownership rates in the world; cameras are everywhere, so people don't even dare to steal or pickpocket anymore. The only unsafe thing is the traffic, people here do seem to get their licenses too quickly, and you have to be very careful when on the road.
People in China do have the right to criticize government. Even there a hotline named 12345 you can dial for help on government issuses. which respond very fast.

Just a small question about the language, if Im moving to Macau, should I learn cantonese now, or should I learn mandarin first then cantonese? Thanks.
I would definitely consider learning mandarin over cantonese. If you learn Cantonese you will limited to communicating with people from the south, but since most Chinese now speak mandarin, even in the south it should be your choice.
Hi Andre, nice video I really enjoyed watching it. I am very interested on moving to China to teach English. I have BA, I started an MA but suspended it after 2 years, I am also a TEFL certified teacher. Do you think I can easily find good paying jobs in china?
With a degree its quite easy in every city. Even without a degree if you are a native speaker its still quite easy. I knew a guy who was a teacher at a private school for like 8 years from America with a 10 year tourist visa.
nice vid. the down side with the independent, educated, career minded women is that they are much quicker to divorce you lol if you ever get married. not all of course, but yea. pro's and con's to everything.
Have you considered incorporating gym workouts into your content? Instead of creating yet another travel vlog in China, why not switch things up and share videos of your workout routine? The market is already saturated with foreign vloggers, so standing out is challenging. However, you could create a channel that showcases how to be fit, even build muscle, by enjoying Chinese takeout. It's a fresh and exciting concept that could really capture viewers' attention. And the best part? No need to get political to gain views in China!
China people can criticize the government, but it should be based on facts. If you can live in a decent house with only 13% salary, why do you criticize the government? The food is cheap, the transportation is convenient, and you can use VPN. There is not much to complain about.
I am a Chinese. I can verify that no one can criticize the government here in China. Your comments will be deleted and your voice will be silenced if you do so.
I was researching into moving to China as a ESL teacher, could you provide some information about how to get good employment? What certification do you have? You will need to be from a native speaking country to teach English in China, those include US, UK, Canada, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand. I know there are non-natives who teach in China but they usually teach other subjects that they are specialists in like math or dance etc. I can't really comment on the non-native visa process since I have never done it. But if you're a native speaker then you need the following. 1. Bachelor degree 2. TEFL/TESOL certificate 120H+ 3. Criminal background check from your country 4. Health examination 5. CV 6. Up do date passport. What are prospective employers looking for? Usually experience, depends on the school, some schools are very competitive usually because of location and because they are so popular among foreigners, but some schools, especially ones located in smaller cities will literally just hire anyone who is a foreigner. If you have DEMO video of you teaching that's really good. Either way many schools will hire you since demand is crazy high. How difficult is it to find good ESL employment, how difficult is it to get a job that pays >25,000 RMB? How difficult is it to manage taxes? Your school does that for you. The salary they advertise is the take home salary. What should you prepare / bring with you to China? Not much honestly, you can buy it all here since it's so cheap. Do you worry about food quality / safety? Honestly no, but If the food is really cheap I would be a bit worried, some kitchens are not very hygienic, I usually order western food and if I order Chinese I order from places with high ratings.

I kindly ask for information on the agency/agent that helped you change from the training centre to the school you worked at.
Hey, thank you for watching. Private, international, or even public schools are all OK to work at. My point in the video was that do not work at a kindergarten or a training centre because of the reasons I mentioned in the video. The school I work at now, my agent helped me find this job, if you're in China and you have wechat I can share her details.
@Andre江健 that would be amazing, thanks for the amazing tips you’ve listed. Do you have other socials like instagram/telegram to share the agent contact? I am still setting my wechat up, rather than on a public forum on YT.

In my experience, those gardens (or most any construction) in China is made with poor quality materials. So the paint will peel, tiles fall off (hopefully not on your head) and water fountain will cease. @Andre江健 that would be amazing, thanks for the amazing tips you’ve listed. Do you have other socials like instagram/telegram to share the agent contact? I am still setting my wechat up, rather than on a public forum on YT.
@@andré-8888 Hi Andre, I am from New Zealand. I don't have a teaching qualification, but I have an offer to work for an EF training centre in China - but am a bit hesitant with the pay and some of the other reasons you mentioned. Is there anyway I can speak with your agent to find another option for me? I do have WeChat.
@@shannongray2518 hi I am a recruiter working for Beijing Foreign Study University,.Yes EF usually don't pay good as private schools and EF require more class hours. The better choice is always to find a private school or public school.
@@andré-8888 can you ask her for an email I would like to speak with her but I am in England
Do you use an agent to find the job? If so, could you share some information? thanks!
Are you in China? Do you have wechat?
@@andré-8888 In Sydney now, and I have wechat.
@@chriswang6180 hi I am a recruiter woking for Beijing Foreign Study University. Maybe I have some private school jobs you would be interested.
How do I contact you directly?
@@danieldavis2662 hi
Hi Andre, I am from the UK. Have a bachelors and tefl but no teaching experience. I am in the UK. I am looking to teach in China in September. Do you think I I can get salary of 25k per month? It seems like kindergarten is the best way to get my foot in the door? I want to be in south China like Guangzhou. My recruiter is asking for reference letters and teaching videos, is this normal? I can speak, read and write Chinese as have studied for years. Never been to China though haha. Do you think I should take a lower salary (like 18k or so) and do 6 months to one year and then jump to a higher paying job like 30k ?
I live in Guangzhou and 25-28k per month is entirely doable for a first position in a Kindergarden.
@@jmpompey1 yeah I know. I am outside of China though which seems to be a problem. Also getting the visa docs legalised etc will be expensive here in the UK.
@@james989 I am in the UK right now as well. I am flying back on May 5th out of Heathrow which is annoying because the Coronation is on the 6th so everyone will be visiting London. As for the Visa docs I am not sure I use a multiple entry spouse visa, I just had to get my marriage certificate legalised which cost around £35, which documents would you need to get legalised?
@@jmpompey1 I need to get degree certificate, tefl certificate and criminal background check legalised. A company in London is quoting me £600 for this. They do it quickly though in 10 days. I have never worked in China before so doing all this the first time.
@@james989 They need to be legalised by the FCO so can't you just go direct? I was quoted around £300 to legalise my marriage cert by a solicitor but did it direct with the FCO for around £35 so shouldn't cost more than £70 for your degree and tefl cert as for background check it's around £18 for a basic DBS
You'r'e young fit and handsome. You should be dating a girl in her early 20s not 32...

Dude, looks like you live in a paradise garden. Jealousy exploded 🤩😂
In my experience, those gardens (or most any construction) in China is made with poor quality materials. So the paint will peel, tiles fall off (hopefully not on your head) and water fountain will cease. The maintenance is usually nonexistent but his particular 小区 seems to be better maintained than what I saw.
@@anonymouse527 Haha you're absolutely right, usually things are not built with quality in mind. This 小区 however I have been surprised by the level of care they put into maintaining it. Last year they even filmed a Chinese drama series in front of my building for a few scenes lol!
@@andré-8888 uh.. I sure hope that wasn't the sole reason why it was maintained. Maybe they'll be back to shoot for another season. And I'm only half-joking.
Maybe change the 559191* code for the door 🙄

21:40 yep. You won't care until it affects you personally. Just don't think about it. Don't ask any questions. Have fun and make that money boiiiii! And when it does start to affect you, you just bail. 牛逼的生活 :)
That's right, brother, we better enjoy life rather than focus on all the negative things happening in the world. 我一点都不在乎政治。
@@andré-8888 Sorry, I meant it with a bit of sarcasm. Having been personally affected, I wish more people cared about politics. But it's ok, everyone has different experiences in life from which they draw conclusions. Besides, I'm not exactly a social justice warrior either. I only moderately subvert the regime.
30000 rmb a month, after tax? That’s really a lot😮
What is your bachelor degree in?
Hi Andre! I've sent you emails about a business inquiry on 30th March. I'm wondering if they were flagged as spam. Could you kindly check it out? Thanks!
where is th peoplev of china? i´ve seen some many videos of people liviing in china but every single video doesnt show people on the streets.
You should visit North Korea, your eyes might be much more opened than you'd expect, even more-so than visiting China for the first time. And you are allowed to go there, in case you didn't know.
where are all the people that city is very populated...wow no graffiti
Wow that must've been a shock to see first-hand the difference between how China is portrayed in Western corporate media vs. the reality of China. I'm surprised that didn't make you more political lol
I think I figured out your pass code to he lock lol
