- Need to make a gift in a pinch? Penmaking is a fun offshoot of woodturning - you can specialise in it and go all in, or you can just dabble like I am, but still see great results! I don't go into super detail as I'm still a newbie here, but hey, it's fun to show what I know so far!

They're great fun Ben. Honestly most projects on the lathe are, start to finish in a couple hours is such a good feeling.

Cheers Matthew, it's almost cheating doing these little lathe projects. If it was a side table or something like that, I'd still be in the pre-work procrastinating stage!
@@woodfather oh yeah i know what you mean. the bigger the project the longer it takes to even get to the hands on wood stage.
I probably have 10 pen kits on hand and all of the equipment to make them, I just haven't gotten around to them yet, haha. Looks good!

I really enjoyed seeing the process with the explanation too, will definitely give this a go when I eventually get a lathe. Shame there's no timbecon over here, they'd easily extract a lot of my hard earned cash on kits like this!
I'm certainly no pro at it, but I've managed to not _totally_ screw up a few pens now 😄 Great fun, cool part of the hobby to look into!
