- A fun and easy project this one! I've had this finished and in the kitchen for the last month, and it's been fantastic, absolutely loving it. Not all projects need to be complicated to be useful!

Hey ya ***ing WoodHeads!! 😄 No fancy pantsy joinery in this one, but if you want to give box joints a try, I've got you covered, check the plans here! bit.ly/woodfathers_jig
Super impressive that you can get a video like this down to 6 minutes. Great job.
We did an identical thing for our desks in order to place laptops under the monitors but your space saver looks so much nicer. Great video. Lots of fun to watch.
Cheers guys, many thanks! 'Fun to watch' is literally one of the comments I was aiming to receive on this vid, so you've made my day!
Hello Mario,
I love practical ideas. congratulations. all the best.
Thanks Mehmet, yep, this one was really useful! 👍
@@woodfather 🤩
You can call us anything 😜 as long as you keep making your videos so funny and well edited... That Italian way to say Microwave.. OMG 😱 well done woodfather! Cheers from the woodchildren of Denmark 🤣🤣
ahahaha, "thank you my dear woodchild, it was lovely to hear from you today!" 😆
My solution for the mitersaw dust is to wheel it over to the door and blow it out while you cut, very little on the floor that gets swept out, nice solution for a tight kitchen with the added shelf, 👍👍👍
Unfortunately the clothesline is literally right outside the workshop door, I blew the dust out once, and wifey was not very impressed! 😆
I think I need a couple of these in my kitchen too. Nice one!
He, cheers John! It really has been super handy, even I didn't expect it to be so useful lol 😄
Ya see ..... now I have to make one!! Thanks!! 🤨👍🤣
Box joints pls Chris 😉
Mario, just come across your channel. Great to see a fellow Melbourne wood worker. Its always great to see people using the tools and wood your famigliar with. Love the video.
Aussies unite! Cheers Vince! Yep, not enough videos out there showing the perils and pains of dealing with spotted gum and its splinters and cracks lol 😄
Was really hoping to see WoodFathersJig box joint jig joints :P
I can't put them in every video 😆😆 or can I!??!? 🤔🤔
How about "Marionettes" - great project as always. Thanks mate.
ahahhaha, now that's a great name! I might use it for when my music career kicks off, "Tonight Only: Muzza, and his Marionettes!"
You're the Wood Father and we are the Wood Watchers 😂😂😂
Hey, no looking at my wood! 😆
You had me at the thumbnail mate! Great build and video mate. I'm heavily invested in doing the whole mitre saw station and shroud etc, however mine does get a lot of use so can justify it. Not sure what to call your followers, timber wolves?
I figured beautiful Nigella would generate more clicks than dusty old Mario 😆
Ive sadly had a few unsuccessful attempts to shroud the mitre saw. Even at best, it still seems average.
Jaffels! Yeah!
I wouldn't mind be called a "WooFa" 😁
Only two outlets in the kitchen is an outrage - we have eight with a total of 18 plugholes. But then again I designed it myself when we renovated the kitchen! ✌️
Nice little build, but you might want to secure it to the wall so you don't knock the whole thing over when doing the dishes... 😬
A WooFa! I like it, will need a new dog mascot logo as well then 😄
I didn't show it in the video, but I've stuck some little rubber / silicon feet under the base, so that the wood isn't sitting flat on the bench. It lets water run underneath instead of into the sides, but also is *very* grippy, I can't push it to the side without a lot of effort, and that's without even having the mee-cro-wah-vay weighing it down. 18 outlets, I don't think I have that in the whole house 😆
@@woodfather Neat, rubber feet should do the trick! Good thinking with the water as well, don't want that creeping in and staying under the wood...
Mind-blown Mario... You got Nigella to pop over. Sorry I initially skipped this video because I thought it was about the kitchen goddess. Wood peeps clicks with me and probably even more so with your US audience.
ahahaha, I figured people would be more likely to click on a beautiful ladies face, rather than my own 😆 Glad to hear that these cheap tricks don't work on you! 😄
For the mitre saw, wheel it outside to use
Not a terrible idea, I've done that a few times but the effort it takes to get the cabinet over the door frame is generally enough to put me off doing it. If I know I've got 30 minutes of cuts coming up, I can convince myself to drag it out, but if it's just the odd cut here and there, it's harder to convince myself to do the right thing. Maybe I should just leave it outside the shop... 🤔
Apparently "Hey Guys" is the single most common way for any video on UA-cam regardless of genre to begin. So you are either Brie-ly-ant-tay or Verne Ordinaire 🤣🤣
Ooh, I guess I'm a trend follower then, not a trendsetter? I'll have to update my resume by removing INfluencer and replacing it with OUTfluencer! 😄
@@woodfather I wouldn't worry too much mate. I started this collective moun "best practice" a little while ago and am not sure it means anything in the real world :P
Just looked up 'jaffle' - Aussie version of the British toasted sandwich. Definitely a snappier name!
You're making me hungry just saying the word! 😆
Woodren. Good double speak
ahahaha, the Woodfather and his little Woodren 😄 Noice!
Nice, but I didn't see if you put anything under the shelf where it touches the counter top. Did you put any rubbery feet, surface protector or some of that anti-slip stuff? It wasn't clear.
I didn't show it, but yep, a few little rubber feet are under the stand, just to lift it off the bench and to make sure it isn't sitting in water. Thanks for watching! 👍
I use something like this at my computer desk, lets my shove the keyboard out of the way!
Nice work!
I actually made something similar for my desk at work, but the business ended up closing down through the ol' covid lockdowns, I really should lift my game and do it again for my home desk now that you mention it. (Well, 'now' is carrying some weight there seeing as your comment is from a year ago... apologies!)
@@woodfather Lol, you should!
I actually build a nicer stand that's the width of my desk. I don't know why i waited so long!
@@heyimamaker ooh the entire length? That's an idea, could really help clean up the cords and junk I have lying on mine! 👍
@@woodfather yea, I have my personal laptop and work laptop, so now they are shoved out of the way under the shelf thing.
What the hell is a toasty? I don't think we have those in the USA. But nice project
hah, maybe its known as a jaffle or just a grilled cheese sandwich? The sandwich press is just two hotplates, you put your sandwich in the middle and cook it until hot and toasty warm, cheese, ham, tomato, onion, beef, pulled pork, chicken, anything you want. Perfect snack for a cold wintery day. 👍
how about hay wood chips
Cheers Chippy! 😄
