Unholy tank is bis for any boss with heavy magic damage. Problem is blood dks are only a mild downgrade for those but massively better for EVERYTHING else.
Unholy was god tier on magic based fights. The most prevalent example I have was on Hodir in Ulduar. Hodir would cast Frozen Blows which I don’t recall the EXACT specific effect of, but the way I remember it was like this: Hodir would melee attack as Frost damage (bypassing armor) and the damage taken by the tank would get copied to everybody in the raid as an AoE. An Unholy DK had the right set of skills and anti-magic absorption to basically negate this entire mechanic every time it was active due to how short the CD on Anti-Magic Shell was.
I was excited about how they were originally going to release Death Knights, I then was over the moon when they said all races and at the time I had maybe three characters and was looking at the male Draenei as a fourth. I made a paladin and leveled him to get him ready for his downfall, so when they changed their mind I was bummed that was some cool RPing in a very 'make your own' rp fun game at the time. Though looking back if they kept it, it would be annoying to do each time you wanted to roll a DK after they lifted the one per server rule.
I actually did something similar to this in that I took an old character from my wotlk private server and remade him as a DK in wrath classic, he was an Orc warrior named Grunkst
I played the wotlk beta back in the days. You were able to use the flying vihicles at the beginning of the beta. But everytime ppl started to use them, the whole server started to be super super laggy and had many crashes. After a while they deleted it and the beta servers were much better playable. My guess is that these flying vihicles caused to much server stability problems and so they deleted it for good.
Um if somebody was caught exploiting WG would blizzard allow it if it meant being able to patch the game more quickly? I found 9 possible exploits over 6 weeks that blizzard patched after 6 months. Only i knew how to use them and I never got in trouble.

its not in game, and blizzard hasn't given any ETA when it will be on wrath classic. Btw , what we're talking is the ability to see quest objectives in the world map, which was someting introduced in Wrath
No, it's not. Blood became on par with the other specs only in the ICC patch. At launch, Unholy was by far the best spec, then it was nerfed and Frost became slightly better. Blood had the huge downside of needing to be hit and expertise capped, otherwise you'd see your Death Strikes miss or get dodged or parried, and find yourself proper fucked. All other tanks (including the other DK specs) only needed to get defense capped and then spec avoidance and mitigation, and not worry about the offensive stats; Blood however didn't have that luxury. @@mihaitha i mean who cares about death strike. You dont even care about hit rating or exp... all you need is stamina and brain to press icy touch. One icy touch is as strong as taunt and literally spamming that is enough to keep up agro which is like the most important factor of a tank

Of course they have the bangers Ulduar/ICC like the vid mentioned but I don't think it's harmful that they had a bunch of other good to okay to blah raids in there. I just picked talents that sounded cool and when I dueled anyone who wasn’t a DK, I literally never went below 90% health. It really felt like cheating. A DK dueling another DK was an endless fight.
They were broken all the way up until the cata pre patch honestly haha and even then didn't fall off until an xpac later. The removal of armor penetration killed my favourite spec, blood dk dps
The original design for the death knights rune weapon seems like a cool a idea but in high content it would obviously be bad, but a part of me wish for it as it enhances the CLASS FANTASY!!!! Just like how warlocks have metamorphis and need to fill their bags with soulshards
Just a small part of just one or two quests in Trial of The Crusader. Wouldn't consider a new zone, specially because you could literally skip that island
As a healer during wrath when it was current, blood tanks in the beginning were the worst. They could never hold aggro, and their health pools would fluctuate so much it was annoying to keep up the rest of the group because you didn't know when they were going to get a regen of sorts.
You failed to mention that beside having 3 melle dps builds, 3 tanks specs, DK had a ranged dps build aswell connecting Unholy with Frost. Thats one of the coolest things about wotlk, the simply number of avaible cross builds.
The best example for how OP DKs were at launch, would be the time I beat three of them one or two levels higher than me during leveling my own. How does that prove anything? Simple: they had NO idea what a DK could even do to survive a hard fight, because they had never encountered one. Meanwhile all that was special about me, was my testing out all of the abilities beforehand and at least somewhat knowing how to use them. I managed to kill all of them multiple times as they zerged against me simply by using all of the insane CDs you could stagger to allow for regen windows... randomly, when my passive blood specc healing failed to keep me at max health. In short, the only way you could lose as a DK, was to not even notice that you aren't SUPPOSED to always beat everything without effort.
Yeah I had two similar experiences 1. Watching my brother in law play one irl by death gripping someone and LITERALLY just mashing down 1-4 wildly on the keyboard (not even AWARE of the global cool down) in AV and topping damage 2. Leveling my mage at 73 going into dragon blight and killing an 80 dk who jumped me with a death grip without taking a point of damage (ice barrier)
@@ekscalybur If I remember correctly, I held out about 10 minutes against those three, only ever falling below 50% once during that time, so I can definitely believe that.

Regions like Canada and Greenland? The music in Grizzly Hills is played on a nyckelharpa, a Swedish instrument and most of the lore is a rip of from Norse mythology. Not sure where you get Canada from that.
While not a big zone, they did add one in Wrath. The Hrothgar's Landing was added with 3.2, just north of Icecrown. It is barely visible on the map, but there are daily quests associated with it. Again, it’s tiny, but it has its own sub map, therefore it is technically a zone added in.
WoTLK just made you wait for a year per patch / new raid.. and naxx was completely undertuned and lasted for way too long (it was the first and only raid I fell asleep in as a resto druid(literally!!! I went through the portal to the nax drake and fell asleep during the fight) sometime around 3-5 months before Ulduars release. it made me quit wow until after ulduar)
WoTLK is such a weird expansion raiding wise, it's a roller coaster. it's weaker tiers are some of the very bottom of the games many many tiers, it's best tiers are some of the peaks, and it just kept.. switching between them. Obviously there's always variance in raid quality but goddamn you FEEL it in Wrath whereas in most expansions it's usually more like "Eh this raid is slightly better/worse than the last"... well you also felt it in Cata when you had an incredible first and second tier and then fucking Dragon Soul as the last tier, that probably kinda tainted peoples view of that expansion as a whole tbh.
@@sneaksies8931 I think you misunderstood when I said mess up. I meant that every release is riddled with tons of gamebreaking exploits, which is the basis of my channel.
If you are trying wow classic for the first time I emplore you don't fucking use something like rested exp all you will achieve is ruining your experience
Another lie, they had announced, and was on the box, being able to do field repairs, I changed my hunter to blacksmith, just for this reason, so I could have the ability to repair guild members, both while questing, as well as extra repairs in raids.
Hearthstone got the rune gameplay feature but retail didn't. Let me repeat that, HEARTHSTONE, a card game, got a mechanic that was meant for Blizzards mainline game, whilst the mainline game got a neutered version of the system. Incredible incompetence.
I remember this very first trailer LK it made it seem like to have a paladin near/at max level and then shun the light. Also OP 5 DK could go into Ramparts and clear it, so much built in healing, it was a joke.
?? ofc they're going to be faceroll. even buffed, naxx is going to be cleared within the first week, 100%. i was a part of the top 3 guilds on my server during wotlk that cleared naxx in its first week back when the expansion was actually current content. now it's going to be flooded with players who - at least the vast majority of - will have an added 10+ years of raiding experience. nothing in classic releases will be hard for anyone except most new players, or people who never played before cata/wotlk.
People have been training the best possible way to clear these raid in private servers for years. And we still have players that cleared those raids when they were still fresh. You can't expect them to be at the same level of challenge as current content, specially because we already have different strategies for them
Kinda weird for a guy that is all about niche stuff and exploring to recommend an absolute grind tool. Don't take this too heavy, I just really hate the mentality (and intolerance) of those "14:08, we need 2 minutes faster" maggots.
blood tanking sucked in wrath, especially late in the expansion when everybody bitched about you not being unholy/frost but the ability to just have an entire swarm of worms around you was really fun
I don’t think Blood tanking sucked in Wrath. It was absolutely the best tanking spec in ICC. By that patch, Unholy was their top DPS due to Shadowmourne, and Frost and Unholy were pretty close together otherwise. Blood was the dominant DPS spec in at least Naxx and Ulduar. I don’t remember if it fell off during ToC or not, but it definitely became the tank spec in ICC and was not viable as a DPS.
I used to argue that Blood DPS was the optimal DPS spec - good single target damage, consistent and good cleave damage, and, most importantly, you didn't die. Your self sustain was crazy and healers didn't have to worry about saving you from your mistakes. A DPS that is alive does alot more damage than a dead DPS.
People are too focused on brute numbers and how easy it is to do damage as class. Blood DK was a monster in PVP and, as you said, had a decent single target damage But "you are playing it wrong" if you are not a min-maxer following That One Guide that's the only true way pf playing your class/spec

I miss the ability to change aura for deathknights, being able to play blood with unholy aura on for solo leveling was great or being able to flip to slightly tanky blood aura for unholy for the same reasons was great
Raegwyn era was nuts for sure...
Frost aura increases threat, still pretty ridiculous how they are design
I do enjoy the video so far, but the word fjord is pronounced as fiyord, as its a Norwegian word.
If you want to speak norwegian you should say fjur
@@Gallaharax Yeah. I've heard my brother say it, given he's on a two-year streak on Duolingo learning Norwegian.
@@exxor9108 cant really learn a language in duolingo
While Wrath had amazing raids it also had absolutely awful ones. Also adding the Argent Tournament counts as adding a new zone.
Oh god I remember when people said frost was tank for Dk I just laughed at them.
Yum.
Regions like Canada and Greenland?
The music in Grizzly Hills is played on a nyckelharpa, a Swedish instrument and most of the lore is a rip of from Norse mythology.
Not sure where you get Canada from that.

Can’t wait to play wrath classic!!!!!!!!!!
Mimiron's fire mechanic burnt my laptop's FPS... My CPU was 95-105 celsius...
Rush < Three Days Grace < beastie boys < Guns N Roses < Nirvana < Grizzley Hills soundtrack music
While not a big zone, they did add one in Wrath. The Hrothgar's Landing was added with 3.2, just north of Icecrown. It is barely visible on the map, but there are daily quests associated with it. Again, it’s tiny, but it has its own sub map, therefore it is technically a zone added in.

It's so funny to me that the wow community loves ulduar, I hated that raid (thematically)
And people wonder why I got confused when I tried to play a DK for the first time.

Wow you started off with Grizzly Hills music. I wont play classic wotlk, but man, youre making it irresistible. Well played.
Not the biggest fan of the sponsor who is just another cash grab crap guide that's worse than even the free alternatives but the video was great.

WoTLK just made you wait for a year per patch / new raid.. and naxx was completely undertuned and lasted for way too long
(it was the first and only raid I fell asleep in as a resto druid(literally!!! I went through the portal to the nax drake and fell asleep during the fight) sometime around 3-5 months before Ulduars release. it made me quit wow until after ulduar)
Ah, I remember the rage of players if a DK wasn't tanking in Frost, even though they all tank. :P

Dragon Soul is the absolute worst. Even at max level in Retail it remains tedious as hell.
Did.. did you just pronounce Fjord as F-jord with a hard J? Its a nordic word so the J is an I, meaning its "Fee-ord"
The J is actually closer to a Y, so it’s more akin to “fyord”-and only a single syllable.
I can’t wait for Wrath Classic release. I also can’t wait for how much Blizzard is going to mess it up like every other major release they have.
everything they have done with wrath classic has been great so far. hop off the blizz hate train.
@@sneaksies8931 I think you misunderstood when I said mess up. I meant that every release is riddled with tons of gamebreaking exploits, which is the basis of my channel.
Wrath technically did add a new zone ... the small island north of Icecrown with those Kvaldir guys that murdered a ton of Tuskarr.

Did you get through a whole video without mocking the Alliance!?
To be fair, the Alliance, and the people that play, are very mockable.
@@sleazysid253 As are people that think every person playing a certain faction are all the same, whatever faction you’re part of. (:
If you are trying wow classic for the first time I emplore you don't fucking use something like rested exp all you will achieve is ruining your experience
Another lie, they had announced, and was on the box, being able to do field repairs, I changed my hunter to blacksmith, just for this reason, so I could have the ability to repair guild members, both while questing, as well as extra repairs in raids.
Wotlk was the best addon ever. Im so hyped!
Are you mad? Blood was THE BEST dps spec for DKs, I could tank AND top ICC dps charts at the same time!
I am actually unable to watch this video because Grizzly Hills music on the background makes me cry
As if dks weren't broken enough on launch. Thank God they didn't do the runeforge 1.0
it was actually released 14 years ago
Crazy to think that vehicle raids/quests are so disliked now (I am one of them), but Ulduar is so beloved (I am also one of them).
Howling F-YORD, not F-jord. The J in fjord sounds like a Y
Also OP 5 DK could go into Ramparts and clear it, so much built in healing, it was a joke.
want to play wrath classic but afraid the raids will be faceroll like in bc
?? ofc they're going to be faceroll. even buffed, naxx is going to be cleared within the first week, 100%. i was a part of the top 3 guilds on my server during wotlk that cleared naxx in its first week back when the expansion was actually current content. now it's going to be flooded with players who - at least the vast majority of - will have an added 10+ years of raiding experience. nothing in classic releases will be hard for anyone except most new players, or people who never played before cata/wotlk.
People have been training the best possible way to clear these raid in private servers for years. And we still have players that cleared those raids when they were still fresh. You can't expect them to be at the same level of challenge as current content, specially because we already have different strategies for them
In vanilla you technically could be a dps warrior or a dps paladin but, in raids you were kind of pidgin holed into tank and healer.
Kinda weird for a guy that is all about niche stuff and exploring to recommend an absolute grind tool. Don't take this too heavy, I just really hate the mentality (and intolerance) of those "14:08, we need 2 minutes faster" maggots.
Everyone I know hated Flame Leviathan.

blood tanking sucked in wrath, especially late in the expansion when everybody bitched about you not being unholy/frost but the ability to just have an entire swarm of worms around you was really fun
I thought Siege of Orgrimmar was the largest raid of the game smh

Man…
That original Runeforging system sounds like a really cool idea, but I agree that it probably would not have worked well in practice.
god why bring up cata was such cash grab for half the stuff to be reworked next dlc
Forgot Hrothgar's Landing as a new WotLK zone (not a huge zone but a zone nonetheless) and that the entire Azjol-Nerub zone was scrapped
Blood DK was a monster in PVP and, as you said, had a decent single target damage
But "you are playing it wrong" if you are not a min-maxer following That One Guide that's the only true way pf playing your class/spec
One of the reasons I'm happy being a casual is because how I hate those elitist snobs
Fjord = Feeyord
I wish I didn’t have a job
I can confirm my raid is very funny people and will be ditched every time if I arrive late to that tram. Lol
