- Mitch Hedberg was an up and coming comedian, who had an unfortunate passing in 2005. He has appeared on The David Letterman Show, That 70s, Show, and Comedy Central.
I DO NOt OWN THE RIGHTS TO THIS MATERIAL. I just love Mitch Hedberg and felt I would honor him by sharing the first piece of comedy I ever heard him perform.
I used to listen to Mitch, I still do but I used to too.
How is this comment not number one
@@misterjonesable It's not number one because it's like number 2000 just like the rice I eat when I want a lot to eat....Yeah😊
This is a comment from you when you were younger.
i love how this is top comment on almost every mitch vid. in youtube
@@darkpatches every comment is from you when you were younger.
Saw Mitch a few months before he died. Someone in the audience brought him a little stuffed koala at the foot of the stage. He kept it in his shirt pocket the whole show. I hope he felt loved in life. He's certainly stilled loved in death. Bless.
I had a ticket to see him in NJ the week after he died, a true bummer indeed.
You can't feel anything through a heroin haze. It's too bad. He could have blessed us with so much more.
It’s comments like this that bring me to tears Sometimes I watch a video and I just start crying because I wish to God he was still alive. On this CD he does the infamous cherry tomatoe joke and later during the end of the CD in Chicago someone yells out Cherry tomatoe. He says “What the fuck is the cherry tomatoe joke? I don’t remember it! Unfortunately I was recording a CD at the time. And now I don’t remember it”. Hilarious! I listen to his stuff over and over. The guys in my band hardly ever laugh at him. Please help me. I’m obsessed!
"If you're flammable and have legs, you're never blocking a fire exit." - Mitch Hedberg
"..unless you're a chair..."
"I've always wanted to have a suitcase handcuffed to my wrist... alright"
👍
25 Years. And still one of the greatest sets.
“ I don’t have a girlfriend. I just know a girl who would be mad if she heard me say that.”
Love and miss you, Mitch.
I love that one
That is my 2nd favorite, right behind "i used to do drugs"
I use that one all the time. On one show after that joke he does the one where he got into an argument with a girlfriend inside of a tent I love that one too. Later he adds. “ The neighbors are yelling Stop slamming the flap!!”
I still feel bad about this, but somebody left this CD in my computer lab in high school, and on the last day of school, I just took it home with me. It's such a fantastic performance, though, I don't regret listening to it over and over.
I listened to this 20 years ago and it never disappoints.
losers weepers
they left it for some one else to enjoy
Mitch would've dug it, bud. He gets to live on for the rest of time by giving people much needed laughter :) Don't sweat how it happened. Just enjoy and spread it around yourself.
I bet you feel a lot better with that weight off your chest. It takes a big man to admit that
I love how he edits his own jokes and critiques them as he goes along.
I was lucky enough to see Mitch in concert only a few months before he died. One of the all-time greats.
Damn, man! That would be a night to treasure :D
same here, I was so lucky to catch him at the Palm Beach improv maybe 8 months to a year before he passed... Super lucky
Golden
I saw his last show before he died
But was he good?
The upright bass softly riffing in the background adds so much to it. It builds the anticipation while you wait on those killer punchlines.
1950s guys, Lenny Bruce maybe, did shit like that. The beatnik and hipster culture back then was into jazz. Poetry readings with a jazz player in the background was a thing too.
That's why i turned it off
@mikebarnett6218 really? You weren't in a good mood that day. I'm thinking the bass had little to do with it.
"Here's a picture of me when i was younger " "every picture is of you when you were younger"
just got to this as i scrolled
I always find it funny when that happens too. Especially when it's a long video. What are the odds 😅
Yeah I love this joke The one about the photo. On this version he adds the line Then he handed me a picture saying” Here’s a picture of me when I’m older You son of a bitch. How’d you pull that off !”
I'm spending my 4th of July 2022 watching Mitch ALL DAY LONG!!!!!!!
July 4th 2023 and I'm right here with you!

He reminds me of a group of friends in college who could sit for hours talking about nothing and laughing. Good times. You were awesome, Mitch. RIP
I wish this man was still around. Especially for the age of podcasts
"Popsicles are for the summertime." - Mitch Hedberg, 1999
25 years ago. It's hard to believe 😮 I didn't find Mitch until just after he left us. He was brilliant. It's unfortunate he couldn't feel the love through the haze
Who was like "You know what his jokes need? A bass guitar. No, not just for the intro and closing, the whole show". Shoot, maybe it was Chuck.
Can't even hear the bass in this recording. Thought i was a great addition. Wtf is wrong with your?
It’s after every joke. 😂
Ya dig?
Omg. It’s so aweful it feel like sabotage. Infuriating!
@@cassiebennet4262 nope. It’s audible and it’s aweful . And it NEVER stops. Fk that guy who is plucking away incessantly. He ruined the set.
"....a severed foot can be an alternate stocking stuffer... " first one I ever heard.... LMAO... been a fan ever since...🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
“A severed foot is the ultimate stocking stuffer.”
That’s one of my favorites too.
I was at the recording of this show in Houston!
Laff Stop, 1999!
Luckyyy!!!

Cool that you checked in...
Wow that's so cool 👍
- If you are flammable and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit
Mitch Hedberg
I’ve been trying to find this recoding for years! Thank you!!!
thank you for posting this!!!! i loved listening to this cd with my dad when i was younger and since he has since passed this is a welcome blast from the past.
Everything you've ever done is when you were younger
Man, get help if you use. This guy was so funny, I wish we could have more from him.
You said some truth there friend…. It gets better, you gotta focus on getting some clean time behind you and it gets easier from that point on. Eventually you end up somewhere where you say to yourself “I can’t believe I was ever like that” and that’s an ok place, just don’t totally forget you were, like slipcover’s and you’ll be fine.
I’m pretty sure I was at this show that night in Houston. I met Mitch in the early 90s in LA at the Comedy Store. He said he liked to keep it clean in case his mom heard his act back then. Genuinely nice guy, but beyond that he was a comedy genius. No one can do an act like his successfully. He was literally one of a kind. People always say great things about those that have passed, but he was a cool guy and that is why everyone misses Mitch. No doubt he would have gone on to do more impactful things in the entertainment industry… ✌️✌️
I love his comedy
He could of also been murdered.
'if you use...' is kinda closed frame thinking, cuz. if you abuse and get o.d. high alone a lot then yeah you're outta hand. but drugs are to use and many many drugs have many many uses and lethality is a question of use or abuse not use or not. but i think we lost a giant. but he gone let it be.
I don't need help using. Thats less I'll have to use later. 😂🤣😂🤣
Bought this cd 20 years ago... wish he made it to podcast times
Thank you John Mulaney on Hot Ones for bringing me here
Welcome! We've been waiting for you. The Hedberg fanbase grows and grows.
Mee too
Lol I didn't even finish the hot ones interview. I just searched for this
Wow. Well enjoy. He's a gem of a comedian.
@keepitsteez2463 glad you came here but you should finish that interview... mulaney gets through those wings like a champion
One of the funniest ppl of all time. Underrated
Thank you for posting this. We need laughter. Mitch was brilliant.

I love Mitch to death, but man it get's difficult when you want to reference one of his smaller jokes and have to go through a whole set to find it haha! This joke encompasses me because I am a mumbler and I just say to people that line "that tree is far away" to let them know I am just saying nonsense. Thank you for uploading this!
So you’re the one who killed him 😡
I do that too like one time a buddy and me were driving past a huge lake and all I could say was, “man that water is all wet!” My friend just looked at me and said, “what ever!” Because he knew that a lot of times I just say shit that pops into my head for no reason.
UA-cam has autogenerated transcripts btw

Dude that’s hilarious I’ve been doing the same thing for 20 years , no one gets it.
My band played this CD before every show on our tour in 2005/06. It was the best of times. RIP MITCH!
What was your bands name? Any recordings anywhere?
🧢
if i could keep one CD’s worth of audio recordings, itd be Strategic Grill Locations. Play it twice a week for the rest of my life and it would never get old.
This guy just cracks me up. Thanks for posting. Sorry he passed.
Still love this album decades after it's release.
I'm gonna go back for wing 9 and 10 after this.
ive heard all these jokes no less than a dozen times each, and im still sitting here crackin up :DDD
One of the best comedy albums of all time. Mitch is sorely missed.
This is my favourite set of all time. So good.
Excellent crowd. They were truly all there for Mitch!! They enjoyed every second and it makes this even more fun to listen to :)
The “We are the World” joke is absolute genius.
Yeah I was shocked when I heard the We are the world joke I was like “oh he did not just say that!”I think it’s hilarious though!
One of his best performances I've seen (heard) of him. Thx!
That turtleneck gag never gets old, man.
I believe this was a live recording in Houston TX at the Laff Stop somewhere around 2000. If so, I was there possibly but if I recall Mitch was there multiple nights so I can’t be for sure. Mitch was a really nice guy, that was real. He was a comedic genius that vibed with the world in his own unique way. You won’t hear any bad stories about Mitch from anyone, because he was a for real nice guy. Comedy always loses the great ones for some reason….
They're usually the saddest
“Alright”
Sep 7 1999
It literally says 1999.
This is multiple recorded nights edited into one show
Rip, I fully believe he was the king of one liners 🖤
I saw Mitch, Stephen Lynch and Rob Cantrell in Indianapolis in 2004. He was extremely hilarious and killed the auditorium.
I saw them in Wallingford, Conn. on what had to be the same tour. Mitch died just a couple of months later. 😢
He was so fucking good.
RIP 🫡🙏🏼
If I could play little league again, I’d be way better than before!!-The Great Mitch Hedberg!! Please come back!
"They'd back up now."
This is a great cd 💿 😂
Love the rhythm 🥁
HOLY SHIT MITCH WAS THE ORIGIN OF THE BANANA JOKE
Which banana joke (there are 2)I like both of them but the on about a traffic light is my favorite
Legendary…..we miss you Mitch! We used to love you, we still do, but we used to too!
So I'm a bit Mitch fan, and rn I have covid, and I haven't heard a lot of these jokes before, so thank you so much for helping to lift my spirits, poster. And thank you Mitch for lifting so many spirits in your all together too short time on this earth. Gone but never forgotten
Check out Do You Believe In Gosh, if you havent. A lesser known cd of his.
@@lurchorum thanks!!
“I haven’t slept for 10 days cuz that would be too long”.😂
Man I wish he were here
My first love started playing this while we were driving, around 2004. I tend to drown out anything that isn't music...not into talk radio... And had never listened to a comedy CD at that point (only watched on TV or live). I wasn't listening at all until my BF ran into a store and kept it playing. Bored, I tuned myself into it.... Within milliseconds, Mitch became my second love.
love the story.
@@TheLochs Aww, thank you!
I had a very similar experience
@@carolineciferno9714 That's interesting/cool to hear! One of the best things I took from that relationship... Hehe

YOU KNOW ..
Was just listening following through his clever ridiculous greats out of know where BUSTED UP LAUGHING!
with that .. 'Dont complement on a dimple could of been shot by a BB Gun'!
Cracked up !
Ah yes, the joke that spawned my namesake.
Hah!
There was a local commercial with the line "he's not in it for the money, he just loves to sell carpet!"
p.s. This is what part of the alphabet would look like with Q and R eliminated 🤣🤣🤣
You’re listening to AM 1600! Where we’re celebrating the 1600 days of… the next four and a half years!
If literally anyone else was saying this shit it wouldn't work
Thank you Chuck.
I love this CD. Fucking classic man!
I haven't slept for 10 days. Because that would be way too long.
I thought I heard all his material. The dimple joke had me rolling!
My favorite mitch CD
We miss u Mitch. Thnx for the laughs
Herd this when I was 17. I laugh even harder now😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I appreciate his outfit in this
Thank you for sharing!!!!
R.I.P. Mitch
I miss you every god-damned day!!!🍻💔🤘
… an underrated comedic genius
The crowd really liked that pancake joke. RIP
I wish Mitch had been a recurring guest on Seinfeld, a small part like the Bania character or something.
But hearing how Mitch felt about being on That 70s Show, maybe he wouldn't have been interested.
16:30 The name of his second album was born here. "Mitch All Together"
He was the Led Zeppelin of stand-up comedians.
rip hedberg, legend!
Don't see Dr. Ackula!
Alexander the Great of comedians, conquered the entire thing at a very young age but died before he could rule it
Or like the Eric Bristow of standup comedy, even.
John Mulaney Brought me here
A singular comic voice
I remember he was suppose to do a show in Charleston, SC but died before doing so. Like dude, there's easier ways to avoid South Carolina.
The CD jokes!
"I'm gonna go shave, too."
comedy albums are a lost art todays generation never got to experience.
I tried watching a few current "specials" and they sounded more like a terrible TED talk by someone thinking they are making profound social commentary instead of comedy.
They paused more for applause breaks on political stances, than any laughs for jokes.
@@PowerScissorLiterally shut the fuck up comedy is at an all time peak and only continuing to grow. Yeah, they’re are a few virtue signaling shills still out there, but those days are largely over. Ari Shafir, Sam Moril, Sam Tallent, Nick Mullen, Stavros halkias, Shane Gillis, Matt McCusker, and Mark Normand have all put out phenomenal specials within the last year alone, just to name a few. Stop jerking yourself off
The 1970s were a great decade for comedy albums. Carlin, Pryor, Cheech n Chong, Monty Python, Steve Martin. National Lampoon.
Do you have Coke… in a glass harmonica?
Nope. We got spaghetti!
And blankets.
That’s what I call a Mitch-up.

Actually he played Golf and Tennis…. Or maybe he just said that for the awesome jokes!
Is this the guy that kicks ass on the yoyo?
I’ve seen him at the store
Comedian Tommy Smothers is a yo-yo man.
'90s comedy sure does like the bass
3:08 - Such a great image! 🤣
One of the funniest guys ever cool demeanor
Why can't I play this in the background on my phone?? Its never done that before with anything else.
Hilarious
So glad comedy clubs got rid of the background bass player meme.
I rarely drive steam boats
But what happened to the dufrenes?
They are all trapped on an elevator. Too bad they didn't catch Mitch's act first.
The Dufranes is one my favorite jokes. I even have a t- shirt that says” Who can eat at a time like this?”
Anybody else notice he's high as a kite recording this?
I think he was high during 90 percent of his shows!
There's a woman in the crowd with a really distinctive laugh. And it makes everthing funnier. Especially at 18:00 with the pancake joke 🤣
Is the music guy the same guy who did Doug Stanhope’s “Something to take the edge off?”
Sounds very similar if not the same
