What would you do when you think no one is watching? What Would You Do? (WWYD?) explores the varying answers with the help of hidden cameras capturing individuals who have been placed within seemingly everyday situation that quickly go awry. The individuals on this hidden camera show are forced to make tough calls when directly faced with situations of racism, violence, hate crimes, and other hot button cultural issues. Catch John Quinones reporting on these individuals as they make split-second decisions to intervene or mind their own business. WWYD? airs Friday nights at 9|8c on ABC.

As a person who studies psychology, I can tell you that that really messes up with a child, and will probably affect them throughout their entire life. Boys have the same exact emotions that girls do, society just teaches them to suppress them. It’s so sad and I hope that one day every parent understands that dismissing your child’s emotions isn’t though love, it just harms your kid.

Actually both of them showed more maturity than most of those so called adults that are so full of themselves with their big fragile sensitive ego. We need to be aware of the things that we say and do to children. It can mess them up for life.
When my Nan was 100, I asked her what her earliest memory was.
It was in 1919 when she was just 3 years old.
The extended family had their yearly vacation day off together, to visit the seaside.
For each trip, they would get a new outfit, which would be their Sunday best for the following year.
That year my Nan was given a white dress.
At some stage an adult gave her some chocolate.
3yo, white dress and chocolate. I think you can imagine how that went.
Anyway, the first stop on the trip, was to get a family photo taken. Which was a real big deal back then.
It was noticed that my Nan had gotten into a mess with her chocolate.
A group of adult family members crowded around her. They shouted at her for being dirty, told her that she was nasty and selfish, and that she ruined their one day off a year, because there was no way they could have a picture taken with her being such a mess.
She was told that she was good for nothing, and that she would never amount to anything.
This experience had left my Nan with a lifetime of low self esteem. She used to call herself a monster, but she was genuinely the kindest person that I have ever met.
Anyway, back to 97 years later, I said to her, “You know it doesn’t matter anymore.”
After all that was literally the only person in the story that was still alive, including passers by.
She nodded lowered her head and said “I know.”
I knew that she was gently crying. So I said to her, “it still hurts though doesn’t it?”
She nodded again and quietly said “yes.”
So I went and hugged and comforted her.
I was the first person that she ever told that story to. She had kept it inside for 97 years.
She was so grateful for me enabling her to get it out, and to hear that she had done nothing wrong, and that none of it was her fault.
So giving a kid tough love might seem a positive thing, it can really mess some kids up for life.
    #BeKind
