Restaurant manager asks man with service dog to leave | What Would You Do? | WWYD

- When a man sits at a table with his service dog, the manager tells him no pets are allowed inside. She doesn't think he needs a service dog because he looks fine. What will people say?
EDITOR’S NOTE - In a previous version of this segment we stated that service dogs were certified by the Americans with Disabilities Act. We have since revised to state that owners of service dogs are protected by the Americans with Disabilities Act. A visual has also been updated to more accurately reflect the subject material.

“I don’t know if they should leave but maybe a different spot?” No, that’s also illegal. You cannot treat us handlers any differently.
The bottom line is people who agreed with the manager are just not good humans in general.
Service dogs and emotional support animals are not the same thing and do not have the same rights for public places. It is not illegal to kick out an emotional support animal.
@@missscarlet7902 I’m more than aware that they are different but psychiatric services dogs do exist. The different between an ESA and PSD is that an ESA needs no training of any kind and their mere presence is comforting to someone. With a PSD, the dog is trained to public assess standards and is task trained to alert to symptoms of the psychiatric disability and/or to perform tasks that alleviate the symptoms or dissipate the episode all together. I also stand by what I said in my last comment because it’s a fact. It is illegal to segregate a disabled person because of their service animal’s presence. Service animals can only be removed if they aren’t potty trained or are unruly.
@E Boston that's literally what I said 🤣
@@Kijahlovex By the way, ESAs ARE a legitimately useful aid to people with severe anxiety or depression that don't qualify as being disabled enough to need a PSD. I see too much anti ESA shit and it makes me angry.

That's actually an interesting question though. Severe allergies certainly would count as a disability. What happens when one person's disability intersects with another person's disability?
A blind person can't go to a restaurant without her service dog. A severely allergic person can't be in the same room as a service dog.
Which disability do we accommodate?

There’s a HUGE difference between a SERVICE animal, and an emotional support animal. Service animals have to go through extensive training. Emotional support…$20-50 on the internet and they’re done, no training, nothing.
I work in healthcare and understand the need of emotional support animals, but to many are abusing this. I’m glad the laws are changing at least in Washington state.

LOL Are you ok, man? XD
So many veterans have service dogs to help them with PTSD. Whenever I hear that phrase "well it doesn't look like there is anything wrong with him", it makes me angry and sad.
I was just searching on how to ride with my service dog in a lyft or uber and saw this vid. I'm so glad for the amount of people who stood up for this service team. It literally made me cry. My service dog is new to his role as a service dog, and I've trained him so well. We've gone to the gas station down the road and a small diner because I know there are no fake teams around us. But I'm so scared to go to big restaurants and Walmart because it gives me anxiety even more knowing we could run into a fake team or get "the talk" from an unknowledgeable manager. And for those of you who agree with the manager in this situation need to know this, most real service dog owners do considerate others wayyyyy before themselves. Before I decide to take my dog out I bath him, dry him, brush him, and make sure he's not shedding uncontrollably. If you are worried about the cleanliness factor in a restaurant maybe watch and notice a few thing, most of the time service teams sit as far from others as possible or in an open area as to not bother others and to allow the maximum air flow. If you are allergic, then move. we have a service dog for our disabilities, don't like it, move or ask to be seated somewhere else. Don't cause issues for them. HOW TO SPOT A FAKE: they are sniffing for food all the time (this is different if the owner holds their plate to a dog as there are gluten alert dogs), the dog is barking and the owner is ignoring (if the owner is on the ground, passing out , passed out, or doing a repetitive action such as scratching and the dog is barking at them or searching for people, follow it or leave it alone, its doing its job), if the dog growls at you when you are passing it, if it is pulling and not listening to commands or directions all the time, if it says esa on the vest it is NOT permitted to be in a store or public spaces, if it is in a cart/stroller owned by the store (service dogs may be in three places on the ground, in a chest/backpack, or on your lap.) WHAT TO DO IF YOU POT A FAKE: if the dog is barking and the owner says "don't worry its a service dog" kindly remind them "service dogs may not bark, unless there is a reason. that dog is not trained therefore is not a service dog" if they start to argue just walk away, find a manger and report them, if you have to, bring up ada.gov and show them the requirements and faq section and remind them they can legally ask the team to leave as the dog is not properly trained. please don't come up and just pet a dog, nor scream doggy, it is counted as a distraction and can cause serious issues for a team, and you can be get the cops called on you if you repeatedly distract the dog on purpose, Also no pictures unless you ask the handler. If a handler finds a pic of their dog online that they didn't give permission for you can get in a lot of trouble as a service dog is counted as medical equipment and an extension of their handler.
“He could bite someone”
Ya know who also can bite someone?? A CHILD
Or a "Karen" or an anti-masker.
@Mochi Maker no humans with teeth allowed. Period.
I’m not joking I was sitting at a table and there was this demon child at the table next to me and he kept going over and kicking my leg, and I asked him to please stop and his mom got on to him and this bitch runs over and bites my arm, keep in mind this kid was like 4 and had no self control of how hard that bite was, I Fr started BLEEDING and the manager made them either leave with their child or send someone to sit with their child in the car. not worry about it, These animals are trained. The real issue, is when those trained animals, put "gifts" on the floor of the restaurant. Because the 2 cases i seen this, The owner of the dog not clean it. and makes excuses about disabilties for not cleaning the "gifts" of his/her own dog.
@@andresfelipeod6819 Service dogs can be trained to not shito the floor. Plus most handlers have their dogs shit outside before going into a business.
For anyone curious:
-Service dogs ARE allowed to bark if it’s for an alert
-Service dogs do not have to be perfect
-Service dogs are allowed to be in stores and schools even though people can be allergic
-Service dogs DO NOT need to have a vest or harness on
-service dog “papers” are not real.
-The only requirements for a sd is that they need to be trained 2+ tasks, and of course, they must be obedient,
OH MAN, you were so close to getting 100% correct, and then you blew it at the end. Service dogs do not have to be task trained AT ALL. @Znyvi okay I know this is a little late, but I’m diagnosed with GAD and getting diagnosed is really difficult tbh. I have no clue if you live in the US but I know healthcare here is pretty expensive and not always the best, so I recommend going to a psychiatrist if you can (make sure to research before tho) I hope this helped and even if you don’t have a diagnosis you are completely valid and I hope you’re doing okay
@Znyvi I totally understand that and it def makes sense it takes a lot to open up to people especially face to face. Idk if this will make you feel better, but one of my best friends is from the UK and her first visit with her psychiatrist was basically her taking the professional version of online mental health quizzes and she got diagnosed the same day with minimal talking :) I hope that made a bit of sense and I encourage you to reach out because you are important and deserve to feel better!
@Znyvi the diagnosis isn’t the most important part obv but it made it a lot easier (for me) to be taken seriously by doctors and my friend said having the first visit be short and not too verbal definitely helped her be more comfortable with her provider. Sorry just wanted to add that I forgot to mention it :)

@Ziggy Zig i-
They were talking about the dog lmao you're going to get r/whooshed
Ziggy Zig reddit
@Ziggy Zig They were calling the dog "squishy" or "cute" by calling it a cinnamon roll. And r/whoosh is what people on an app called Reddit use to represent someone who missed the meaning of a joke.
@Ziggy Zig r/whoosh
Oh my god guys😂😂 just r/woosh
They really do cause problems for us people with Service Dogs.
4:00 “look at the dog”
Dog: legs bent back chillin 😂
“Our cameras are paw-sitioned” slight chuckle
You can just hear the slight pause where he face plams himself because of that joke lol
The end when the dog jumped on John was so cute

I’m allergic to dogs…
I would 100% be ok with a service dog being in a store, restaurant, or another public place
Exactly! if it was such a bad problem you can leave.
So you would just leave straight way if they entered?
@@alexanderbolton Most of the times they aren't a huge problem at all, especially in public spaces. The allergens come from the proteins from the animal skin cells or saliva. As long as people are not in direct contact with the animal, there typically isn't enough allergens circulating the area to cause a serious problem. When an issue does occur, some over-the-counter medicine would help.
*news*
"At 4:00 PM a man has been hospitalized after a dog has caused an allergic reaction at an Ihop. Witnesses say that she said she was "ok" with the service animal only to end up be in critical condition"
Then why is your profile a dog 🐶?
“He could hurt someone”
Meanwhile dog just lies on the floor doing nothing
Edit: omg I’ve never had this many likes on a comment 💕
yeah people are blind
And I'm like "Oh yeah, he could definitely maul me and then skin me alive, then drag my corpse straight to hell. Screw off" ok, I know it's an act, but I can't help but think something like that
Where he was laying he could have hurt someone like a waiter carrying hot food or have been hurt himself in the same situation service dogs should always be out of the way under the table or blacked by a chair if it needs to be out from under the table some people with sd's will choose to sit in a corner so the dog can spread out in the corner without being a danger to the public
@@dragonlover1 he won't get up unless he is instructed . ... they're trained too much
@@Sid-cf2ni yeah my boy is trained to do that to he's also thought obedient disobedience if I tell him to do something and he finds it dangerous or he needs to respond to a medical episode he will not listen and do what he was trained to do in those situations but if that dog wasn't to be seen by waiting staff and get stepped on it could be dangerous for the waiter with hot food trying to not spill it on surrounding people and potentially dumping it on themselves or the dog so I would say no he's not dangerous in the sense of biting but he's definitely dangerous because there's anything protecting that dog if he's not the most obvious thing sitting there because he's not in the normal line of sight like chairs and tables and people
Happens to me almost every time I go in public .
I seriously saw a guy once board the same airplane I was on and on his shoulder with a leash on it was his emotional service IGUANA. It was the funniest thing I've ever seen. People couldn't believe it.
I seriously doubt that unless you are not in the US. Reptiles have NEVER been allowed on airlines even as a Service Animal or ESA. Rodents are not allowed either.
Only true fans know this was re-uploaded

@@jaxayesa5478 EDITOR’S NOTE - In a previous version of this segment we stated that service dogs were certified by the Americans with Disabilities Act. We have since revised to state that owners of service dogs are protected by the Americans with Disabilities Act. A visual has also been updated to more accurately reflect the subject material.

How many stinky humans walked into the restaurant sir hmmmm?
most humans don't have fleas or ticks so...
@@christhewalrus2016 It's been proven that humans are more dirty than that of dogs, especially our oral hygiene. Yeah, they lick their butts and their breath may smell, but take a test, it'll show that their mouths are much healthier and cleaner than our own. They have a strict diet, we don't.
ChrisTheWalrus I. Am guarantee that real service dogs do NOT have fleas or ticks! I have a service dog and know numerous people with service dogs. We keep our dogs clean and vaccinated. It’s part of the law that our dogs are groomed and kept very clean.
ChrisTheWalrus most humans don’t clean themselves sooo...
And I mean... watch Kitchen Nightmare after hearing that kind of bullshit. I'll take a dude with a dog in the dining room over pigeons or rats or cockroaches in the kitchen... or rotten food or basically all the horrible stuff you see on that show

I have a service dog and I am a dog trainer. I was really surprised when he picked up the dog and put him on the chair with him. That is kind of a big no no….
Really cute dog though ❤
It was really nice watching people defend them. My service dog is for pressure therapy, and to alert me of panic attacks, taking my medication when I need to, as well as helping with interventions, just to name a few of my babies tasks.
My service dog is a red Siberian husky though and even though she is really great at her job. I can’t even begin to say how many uncomfortable situations I’ve been in because people don’t know the laws and don’t really want to listen to them either as well as the idea that a husky can’t make them a dog service dog when she is SO good at her job.. 😅❤️
@@katelynmontgomery2774 😁😁❤️🐕 very sweet 😄
I agree. Service dogs should be on the floor. I wondered myself if the dog actually IS a service dog when he offered to show documentation.

Jordan Johns ikr. Like hold on lemme just have a seizure for you
Jordan Johns Anxiety or depression is almost as serious as having a disease or cancer. It causes suicide and it’s constant suffering
Ava Johnson I know
Ava Johnson yep, only difference is that anxiety and depression are more controllable in most cases.
Luka What do you mean more controllable?
Thank you so much for bringing awareness with this video!!! I love it.
Manager: it's a dirty dog
Me: You're a dirty human. What's the difference?
“Look at the dog”
Dog: lays on its stomach in a very weird manner
“He’s doin nothin wrong!”
So cute
No. They are seeing both sides. They only did this when she (the manager) took a nicer approach. Sadly, people out there do put fake service dog vests on their animals when they don't have a disability or legal certification just so they can bring them into restaurants and other public places. Because of the manager's calm demeter, the patrons were more supportive of her call and saw her reasoning. Notice that isn't the case when she acts aggressive.
Angel 101 banning service animals from restaurants (or public spaces in general) is discriminatory.
@@thejayinator585 also illegal as well, under the ADA Act of course
ItsSurreal yup
How are there stupid
Some people DO take advantage of service animal, that's what's sad.
@GCD AY AY Some people just buy a service dog vest online, slap it on their dog, and call it good. Trust me, I know someone who did that!

@@haddyjammeh1613 A quote in the episode
Yeah they do
Hold on, this is controversial. It always depends, on the one hand you're right If people are going to be really judgemental but Not If they want to educate themselves!!
Ayee~~ a fellow iKONIC! I do agree with you, a lot of people have to learn that just because someone doesn’t “look like they have a problem” it doesn’t mean they don’t suffer from an illness.
