      Pressed plates that match the new colouring, white yellow are legal and they pass bend testing too. They were referring to pressed plates that are black and silver found on old vehicles.

    Imports can have a 5mm gap at the top of the plate. 11mm is only for UK spec vehicles.
    It's physically impossible to have the 11mm gap at the top on the 12x6 plates...
    Metal pressed plates also aren't primarily for age related vehicles. However, black pressed plates are.
    With regards to stick on plates, they aren't road legal as they aren't made of the compliant materials set out by British Standards and tested by BNMA suppliers.
    Alot of incorrect waffle in this video.

    Sorry you have completely confused everyone even more ! Forget black and silver plates metal pressed plates, most people want to know about normal colour and correct font metal pressed plates which conform to the D regulations and have plate manufacturer and postcode on them, these are the rules from September folks want to know about

    • @sligrayne
      @sligrayne 3 роки тому +2

      +1 for this comment. I understand the changes for the Black and Silver plates but I myself have pressed aluminium plates that conform to the current D standard. White on Front and Yellow on Rear with required markings. I bought them from here if it helps www.number1plates.com/plate-type/pressed-metal-number-plates/ but there are many others making them legally.
      I understand that as they conform to the current standard I can leave them on the car without issue however I want to know if they will still be buyable after September or will they be made illegal from that point?
      The issue I’m looking at in the new E standard is regarding the plates shape retention. It states something about plates needing to retain their original shape if they are subject to forces that may bend them. The regular plastic plates do this but the pressed aluminium ones do not, so from that I presume that they will be banned from September but some clarity on it would be appreciated.

    I did not know that a standard press plate (white/amber) was illegal on a car after 1980. I knew the black and silvers were but not the other ones.
    I believe the TM is closer to the MR version of the Evo which was a "race ready" version of the standard Evo. The MR still had an interior but did not have basic sound deadening, no aircon and keep fit windows to save on weight. The TM kept more of the luxuries and had loads of extra go-faster-bits from numerous tuners as well as Mitsubishi's in house tuner who's name has escaped me. I may be wrong but that's what I thought.

    • @ajh5552
      @ajh5552 3 роки тому

      I would have thought that the purpose of those speed limit signs is clearly obvious. 🤔 But if it isn't obvious to you, then i will try and educate you.... In a supermarket car park there are lots of people walking around with young children who have an habbit of appearing out of nowhere, especially from behind or between cars. I'm sure you can work out the rest. 😉 Regarding the legality of the imposed speed limit in these car parks, then unless someone is there with an approved speed gun, then you can't be legally convicted. However, if you run someone over and witnesses come forward to say you were speeding, then a case could possibly be brought against you for driving dangerously or driving without due care and attention. Stick to the speed or advice that is displayed is my advice. 👍 It really is all about common sense, which unfortunately can not be taught in most cases.

      You can use square plates on a UK car with the UK size lettering but unfortunately you can't use the import/motorcycle size lettering on a UK car. Imported cars can have slightly smaller plates due to the allowable smaller lettering. Imported cars were allowed smaller motorcycle size lettering from 2002 as it was put through legislation due to USA spec bumpers have set number plate recesses which physically wouldn't allow UK size lettering. From that date, all imports could have smaller letters.

    it would be nice if you actually explain WHY you cant have pressed plates or WHY it has to be 10mm around the edge of a square plate.... or WHY square plates have to have certain wording in a font so small it cant be read unless the vehicle is stopped anyway.. simply stating "its legislation" doesnt answer the questions..

    My JDM went in for its MOT today and it failed because of so e stupid rule that the size must fit a new standard.
    So I go down to the local motor factors and guess what?, THIS NEW size they have introduced is to big for the back and to small at the front.
    Now I'm not about to lose 12k in my car because of a stupid anal and totally British way of doing things, without any thought.
    Please advice, as I have to take it back tomorrow ref its MOT.

      Square plates on UK cars are fine as long as they comply ie you can't have the smaller size import plates on a UK car.

      @tonyb1223 3 роки тому

      @@markweatherill incorrect, if a standard size plate can be fitted, then it must be, square plates should only be fitted if the holder was designed for it, hence you get people pulled for square plates.

      Regarding the import cars, they can have square plates even if they have a full size holder, BUT... this only applies to cars registered in the UK before 1999, after that they have to follow the UK rules of full sized plate if a full sized holder is fitted.
