Out of all the scary monsters and enemies in all the movies I've seen in my thirty years, she has got to be the most epic. My Queen, I will willingly serve you as a drone.
mrs. krige is a true proffesional and class act...what a wonderfull tallent...wish she would make more movies...when ever I see her on star trek you know its gonna be a good show
I love this actress: she was awesome as the Borg Queen and as Christabella on the Silent Hill movie and I was in shock when I watched the director's cut of Stay Alive because she was on it. They completely cut out her scene as a voodoo expert which was some of the stuff that made the whole movie come together. Great actress and I think she was on the Sci-Fi channel's production of Dune or Children of Dune... Either way she is awesome!
Apologys for what... what has she done that is bad? She palys a villain (not 100 % she is also programmed by some earlier Borgs. The Borg Queen is also a victim.
Don't know Alice Krige was South African. She speaks with very convincing American accent in the movie Sleepwalkers where she plays Mary the drop-dead gorgeous mother Sleepwalker beast.
The Borg Queen is an excellent idea as it portrays a hive-mind type of society. The Queen represents the focus of the collective consciousness of all Borg in an impersonal way. She may have a body but her individuality is a paradox, which is why she makes Borg look even more alien and dangerous. The episodes in which she appeared were the most intense, but also very refreshing ones in STV. Alice Krige was just fantastic!
Yes the Black Knight satellite has been seen and photographed but it is still ignored by press and science alike. It would be a fascinating expedition for someone to go examine this thing close up.
Alice Krige is awesome, I saw her in "Ghost Story", a well-made but disturbing horror movie from 1981, she was young & pretty but already had this special, mysterious aura. great actress.
Alice Krige made an excellent Borg Queen and owned the role of Lady Jessica in Children of Dune. She is up there with Francesca Annis portrayal of Lady Jessica from the 1984 Dune movie. Alice Krige is a Science Fiction Goddess! Who else could upstage Susan Surrandon in the same room, Alice Krige, that is who.
@horaciosi I wouldn't worry about your English - it's very good :) As for Picard not being the type to commit genocide, you're right - he usually wouldn't, but the whole point of Picard's plot in First Contact was to show that even the most rational and dignified man can succumb to thoughts of vengeance at times. After all, the guy was violated by the Borg, and that kind of trauma obviously caused him a great deal of pain (psychological or otherwise).
she is a great actor,i like to see her very much and i would give a lot to show her my appreciation while drinking with her a cup of coffee. sry for my bad english.
Unlikely, as she wasn't in it! Susanna Thompson played the Borg Queen in all her Voyager appearances, except for Endgame, which Alice Krige came back for.
@marilyn007manson1 The Borg queen isn't the leader of the collective, she's the entire collective expressing itself through a single construct. She says as much to Data when he asks her flat out "Do you control the Borg Collective?" and her answer is, "I *am* the collective." It's functionally no different then when the disembodied voice spoke to Picard when he was taken to the cube for assimilation, it just allows the collective to interact on a more personal level.
regardless of whether the Borg should have a queen or not, this actress created the best Star Trek villians of all time (up there with Khan). thank you Alice Krige!
Alice, there's absolutely no reason to apologize. We're sure that you're busy with your personal and professional life. You're a Great Actress and we're all big fans of You!!!!! Wish You To Have Continued Success! Qapla' ! (Success!)
i find it interesting that with trek, she is an all powerful relentless queen of robots. in real life she is the embodiment of apologetic plushness. bringing order to chaos, i think so.
I'd think that hardcore trekkies who would write to her this long after First Contact would disapprove of the idea of a Borg queen. She was made so First Contact could have a convenient and tangible villain.. and then fell into place with Voyager as a result. Really she contradicts everything Roddenberry wanted the Borg to be.
@marilyn007manson1 She's a focus for the Collective, not their leader in a conventional sense - Chancellor Gowron was a leader, but the Queen is every Borg's mind compressed into a single being. Her own personality is probably in there somewhere, but it's just one of billions of other drones.
why would there be such a thing in a species that operates as described before this movie? why does she "banish" certain borg as punishment? why does she need data, a machine the borg previously deemed unworthy of assimilation? the reason people like this movie is because a lot of the newer trek movies were worse, but that doesn't make this one good... the overall plot was strictly designed to try to reboot the franchise, and it ruined one of the more unique species in the process
She also played the White Witch in the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. It took me a while to figure out where I had seen her before. Such a classy lady who so elegantly plays an eeeeevil leader. I don't think she needed an apology. Someone that awesome is going to get so much fan mail, there's no way to keep up.
First movie I ever saw Alice Krieg in, I believe it was a movie starring Fred Astaire in the 80's, I think it was his last called Ghost Story. It's a pretty good film. I highly recommend it.
at least she took the time to make this vid....most actors don't give two squats about their fan mail. Love u Alice! your amazingly beautiful!
Out of all the scary monsters and enemies in all the movies I've seen in my thirty years, she has got to be the most epic. My Queen, I will willingly serve you as a drone.
"When I'm acting the whole world drops away." Yes! Alice Krige is a director's dream of an actor/actress.
Who would have tought the Borg Queen has communication flow management problems IRL?
That's what happens when you're severed from the collective
I loved her as Bathsheba in King David with Richard Gere
awww shes so nice. borgs are such a lovely and friendly race. like the cuddly Daleks or the totaly not annoying Gungans.
mrs. krige is a true proffesional and class act...what a wonderfull tallent...wish she would make more movies...when ever I see her on star trek you know its gonna be a good show
Borg queens don't answer fanmail. You will be asstimulated and your babble logical deceptiveness will be added to our bucket list.
I wrote to Alice several times but I understand her not being able to reply. She's a great talented actress and has always been my favorite actress!
I could just listen to her speak all day long. :D
Laundry is irrelevant
I like to imagine these boxes of fan mail as metal cubes...
She will always be that sexy spirit from Ghost Story to me.
Saw the flick when I was 12.... Giggity.
Ultra80s yeah...
That movie was chilling
She was so beautiful and terrifying
WOW! Ive never really pictured you without the Borg stuff on.....you are BEAUTIFUL!!!
Apologys for what... what has she done that is bad? She palys a villain (not 100 % she is also programmed by some earlier Borgs. The Borg Queen is also a victim.
I like her. You can tell just from this short little clip, she'd be an interesting person to meet. Obviously a professional.
What a delightful lady, such a wonderful contrast to her character!!!
She is so curtious, most actors wouldnt' bother to regard the fans. nice lady, great actress, (underrated).
Don't know Alice Krige was South African. She speaks with very convincing American accent in the movie Sleepwalkers where she plays Mary the drop-dead gorgeous mother Sleepwalker beast.
anyone else have no idea there was a second borg queen for the majority of VOY until the series finale when Alice Krige guest starred
The Borg Queen is an excellent idea as it portrays a hive-mind type of society. The Queen represents the focus of the collective consciousness of all Borg in an impersonal way. She may have a body but her individuality is a paradox, which is why she makes Borg look even more alien and dangerous. Yes the Black Knight satellite has been seen and photographed but it is still ignored by press and science alike. It would be a fascinating expedition for someone to go examine this thing close up.
I barely heard a word she said. All I could think about is how beautiful she is.
i am apologizing because getting through my poor pile of fanmail while i'm working is futile.
good luck with that pile
Alice Krige is awesome, I saw her in "Ghost Story", a well-made but disturbing horror movie from 1981, she was young & pretty but already had this special, mysterious aura.
great actress.
I'd love to see Alice Krige play the lead on a "Murder, She Wrote" reboot/sequel series.
Alice Krige made an excellent Borg Queen and owned the role of Lady Jessica in Children of Dune. She is up there with Francesca Annis portrayal of Lady Jessica from the 1984 Dune movie. Alice Krige is a Science Fiction Goddess! Who else could upstage Susan Surrandon in the same room, Alice Krige, that is who.
if you haven't seen Ghost Story[~'76], you should, it's great. her first big movie.
@horaciosi I wouldn't worry about your English - it's very good :) As for Picard not being the type to commit genocide, you're right - he usually wouldn't, but the whole point of Picard's plot in First Contact was to show that even the most rational and dignified man can succumb to thoughts of vengeance at times. she is a great actor,i like to see her very much and i would give a lot to show her my appreciation while drinking with her a cup of coffee. sry for my bad english.
She brutally tortured my species, unabashedly killed my family, and assimilated me when I was a mere child.
But I love her accent so I forgive her.
That Borg queen can assimilate me any time she likes!
First Contact was probably up there with IV in terms of awesomeness.
She also played in Children of Dune....as Jessica
Unlikely, as she wasn't in it! Susanna Thompson played the Borg Queen in all her Voyager appearances, except for Endgame, which Alice Krige came back for.
Alice Krige is the best. She scared the hell out of me in Ghost Story
@marilyn007manson1 The Borg queen isn't the leader of the collective, she's the entire collective expressing itself through a single construct. She says as much to Data when he asks her flat out "Do you control the Borg Collective?" and her answer is, "I *am* the collective." "You will be assimilated. Resistance is fu-" "DO YOU MIND, I'M TRYING TO HAVE A CONVERSATION HERE!!"
no apologies necessary, just say "yes,it's fun"...
She should get a few dozen drones to sort it all out!
Anyone who got angry at her should be the ones apologizing.
all i heard was she will open her box for every fan. might of been something in between :P
Talk about great casting, she was awesome
I find it hard to believe that the board Queen has laundry to do
That was Tilda Swinton. Sorry bro.
Loved you ever since Ghost Story.
actually I've just read she's South African and moved to London at 22.
She was amazing in Ghost Story...
regardless of whether the Borg should have a queen or not, this actress created the best Star Trek villians of all time (up there with Khan). thank you Alice Krige!
she's the borg queen for crying out loud , she doesn't have to apologize to no one.
Alice, there's absolutely no reason to apologize. We're sure that you're busy with your personal and professional life. You're a Great Actress and we're all big fans of You!!!!! Wish You To Have Continued Success! Qapla' ! (Success!)
My jaw hit the table when I read her name on the DVD´s cover!
people shouldn't expect responses from fanmail, just the thought of it being read should be enough, honestly
The only thing she to apologize to me for is scaring the holy crap out of me....
I always thought that the Borg Queen was 7's original Mother in the history of 7.
That is absolutely excellent.. and I will cite you as a source.
WOW! Super actress. Also notice how she speaks aka from the school of Laurence Olivier.
i find it interesting that with trek, she is an all powerful relentless queen of robots. in real life she is the embodiment of apologetic plushness. bringing order to chaos, i think so.
hell I wouldn't answer back either...but I would hold each letter up to a light bulb and check it for money...no sense wasting a good thing
She Made Evil into being Cool, Mysterious and Funky....
You always have been, and shall be...The Borg Queen!!!
@UNLebanon
Her laundry was assimilated once, she doesn't want to do it again without a good washing!
Alice: I apologize to my fans, YOU WILL BE ASSIMILATED!
What do you mean WILL BE?
🤖
Ok Alma Mobley aka Eva Galli or is it vise versa-was glad to see the gal from my favorite spooky movie became part of star trek
She didn't need to apologise.
beautiful she WAS
You see a lot of "Top 10 villains" lists and she's never in them. But she was one of the best. Comparable to Cumberbatch's Khan or Hardy's Shinzon
@marilyn007manson1 She's a focus for the Collective, not their leader in a conventional sense - Chancellor Gowron was a leader, but the Queen is every Borg's mind compressed into a single being. Her own personality is probably in there somewhere, but it's just one of billions of other drones.
@marilyn007manson1 I didn't mind it so much, I figured it is just a new development of the Borg since their m.o. is constant evolution/adaptation
why would there be such a thing in a species that operates as described before this movie? why does she "banish" certain borg as punishment? why does she need data, a machine the borg previously deemed unworthy of assimilation?
the reason people like this movie is because a lot of the newer trek movies were worse, but that doesn't make this one good... the overall plot was strictly designed to try to reboot the franchise, and it ruined one of the more unique species in the process
thank god i'm not the only one, i thought the borg was tapping into my console
What an interesting and charming woman! Borg or not.
Isn't this the same actress that also played that destroyer of worlds woman in Stargate SG1?
The only actress to run away in fear should you play the sound of an air raid siren. If you don't get it, I won't explain it :D
She is pretty handsome indeed.
She did a great job!
The best STTNG movie made.
Let me know if I'm missing something here.
"I might as well be on another planet." Does she mean that literally?
11years later
Still no response
After seeing her as the Borg Queen and as the crazy religious lady in Silent Hill, I really can't help but feel uneasy looking at her face.
Apologies are irrelevant. Laundry is irrelevant.
We are the Borg. Apologies are futile.
I was hoping she was apologizing for first contact...
.....and now she is not so busy anymore......
She didn't play the White Witch, that was Tilda Swinton.
A Borg Queen's work is never done (;
Oh Alice don't worry. You don't have to apologize to me. I love you anyway. :)
For her respectable age, she has an amazing body, check Lonely Hearts.
That's the Borg queen!? Wow, which one, the first one? She seems pretty awesome.
I do not believe the film came out in 1976 if that's what you are trying to say. Ok movie and she was the bright part of the film.
She and I have the same birthday. She is exactly ten years older than me.
She was great as the Borg Queen..
AHHH IT'S THE BORG QUEEN, RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!
She is an attractive woman.
She answers fan mail in such 4 dimensional terms
"Do what all pragmatist do, compromise"
I thought she was going to apologise for neutering the borg, but oh well.
The whole time she was talking iwas trying to imagine her saying it in her borg form lmao x)
I think you are incorrect. Tilda Swinton played the White Witch.
If you are a sci-fi fan, you might have seen her in the 2003 Children of Dune miniseries. She played Jessica,
mother of Paul Atreides/Muad'Dib.
First movie I ever saw Alice Krieg in, I believe it was a movie starring Fred Astaire in the 80's, I think it was his last called Ghost Story. It's a pretty good film. I highly recommend it.
