Its nice to know that the show is going to be able to continue to grow and develop, but be in safe hands and with someone who knows his way around the show.
I'm pretty sure milo clancy's hair is a wig, if you look him up on tardis wiki the picture they give of him has a weird gloopy line just below the hairline
If you can get your hands on it, the John Peel novelisation of The Evil of the Daleks is absolutely fantastic. It's certainly a story which lends itself to the literary form a little better, perhaps, than the televisual.
Paradise towers and delta and the bannermen are guilty pleasures of mine. Camp but so fun. Same with time flight. Not seen the space pirates and quite a few missing ones. Are any reconstructions on britbox?
I watched The Space Pirates as a kid in 1969 and remember loving it....it was really Dr. Who trying to compete with 20001 a Space odyssey which was the big thing of the day and it was all about the idea of graceful and slow moving shots of space ships set to operatic music rather than any dynamic plot ...this looked futuristic and thrilling to us 60s kids .....allied to the fact that accustomed to slower moving drama and having much longer attention spans than today's generations gave us a different perception of such dramas and one probably as alien to today's generation of viewers as .......an alien! Lol . Another excellent podcast...thanks and Subscribed
I adore this era, still not watched the space pirates. Theres a weird fuzzy feeling getting a shoutout in the patreon section Billy and Matt watching softcore Alien Pornography together so we dont have to.
Absolutely amazing as always, i can't wait to see you two review the weird zygon film next and all the future reviews to come. Also I should hopefully be picking up a copy of evil of the daleks on Wednesday from hmv, plus I'm so excited that Russell has returned to the show he brought back to life 😊😊.
The BBC narrated audios are my preferred way to consume the missing stories. Animations or recons don’t work for me - there’s too big a disconnect between the visuals and the audio. I prefer to imagine the sixties visuals.
Same here. With Troughton, in particular, being such a magical physical actor, none of the animations/recons can do the missing episodes full justice - personally, I found them more of a distraction than anything else. The only recon that works for me is Lancashire Uni's excellent "Mission to the Unknown", but that was because it was re-filmed with actual actors. Otherwise, give me the narrated soundtracks every time.
I’m rather sceptical of Michael Troughton’s recollection of his father’s reaction- I think it’s his own reaction put onto his Father. It’s convenient that he mentions part 2 (the only episode Michael could watch). There is footage on UA-cam of Pat’s last convention appearance (the day before he died). He mentions The Space Pirates as one he enjoyed - his workload was reduced so the pressure was off him for a bit. This story is a lot of one offs The director, the set designer and the designer director only worked on this one story.
I believe that the 60th is a Special one-off episode, then he as the showrunner will probably do the first couple of series of the reboot then he may choose someone he trusts to take over and RTD remains supervising producer or something like that. He said he was compelled to come back. Let's get one thing straight, RTD is woke but he can write so well that he can put politics in the show with nuance and subtlety, something that Chibnall has never been able to do.
The first three Doctors' eras suffer from having to fit a certain episode length. Sometimes it works amazingly well - as in The War Games and Inferno - and other times the stories would clearly benefit from being trimmed down to four parters. It's a pity this was the policy back then, but then the new series went mostly to single part stories which I also lament.
@@gwaunch1967 I was sort of hoping it would be more out of the ordinary like a classic monster/villain returning or some obscure element would come back like Faction Paradox or K-9.
I think I'm with Billy on this one, even though I'm watching the recondsutrction, I'm finding it much more enjoyable than Underworld, I don't think it's the worst story by a fair bit

This has to be the most interesting thing to happen to the series in a very long time. Russel has came back to save the franchise from Jodie and chibnall. I may come back but the bs retcon is still there so I don't know yet.
@@phantomsidious2934 I can't watch any of the reboot show. It's an overblown, overacted mess. Too much CGI, too much background music, too much emotional athletics. It's a different thing entirely to the Classics.
11:53 "we're in a state of flux" great choice of woods Matt as finally the trailer has dropped and flux be the word :)
The fact that I think you guys using the Matrix bleep from Mysterious Planet is cool shows I'm a bigger nerd than I thought lol
Yeah, Victoria is supposed to be 15,
And Jamie is 22 when first introduced.
So let's not assume anything mad was going on on their 'last night' 😅
Very nervous about RTD's return, however the prospect of another production company running Doctor Who with the BBC taking a step back is a good sign.
Fraser has more to say as narrator than Jamie in the whole story
Don't feel weird about liking The Space Pirates, it's great

Nice slip in of a Red Dwarf reference there Billy 😀

RTD is returning for the 60th ep and Beyond. That heavily implies he's back for a series

So excited about RTD!

Me also. Masterplan on audio is absolutely absorbing and compelling.
The rings of Akhaten has such amazing music!! Yeah the story is ok and the leaf thing well alright, but the music is amazing

Doctor Who finished in 1989. Change my mind.
It finished in 1996, and no need to change my mind. Sick of the new series, and I don't think RTD can save it.
