Billy: “we don’t hate on Capaldi do we?”
Seconds later he proceeds to talk shit on hell bent and twice upon a time wanting them wiped from existence 😂
    I feel personally attacked lmao
I’m looking forward to next time where we look at one of my favorite series finales and probably disagree with everything billy says but that’s ok
Much love to the RoD peeps

In the forrest of the night is underrated and Heaven Sent is among the stories that they would wipe from existence.
      That is definitely a take .. 😂

Once again, a great pod guys!! Can't wait for your discussion on Heaven Sent/Hell Bent. I sent in the question about underrated Capaldi episodes as I think so much of his run was overshadowed by overly negative fans at the time. I was one of the fans who felt negatively toward the series 9 finale, but having rewatched it since its genuinely one of my favourite finales. I'd go as far as saying Series 9 is one of my favourite series'! I hope you have a similar experience, Billy!

In DWM a few years back RTD said one of his regrets as showrunner first time around, was not doing a direct sequel to a Classic Series story. I'd quite like as an idea for a 60th Anniversary Special.

For the casual audience grab maybe Who Does Bake Off? I know it’s way too late to develop in time now for the 60th but with 5 ‘New’ Doctors existing it is criminal there’s no Telltale style Choose Your Own Adventure game where 9-13 get an episode each with an overarching story and the player as some sort of Time Agent to play companion across the Doctors timeline, I’m sure it’d be much easier for the actors to commit to voice roles rather than another live-action Five Doctors and an animated game gives the freedom to do absolutely anything visuals wise the writers can come up with, I’d also take a Big Finish set if it’d make it in time.

Looking forward to your Heaven Sent/Hellbent review, I've been meaning to rewatch those two.
If your doing more Capaldi stories, while maintaining the tradition of contrasting Classic with Nu-Who, I'd love to see you do one on Eaters of Light vs Survival. Mainly for Rona Munro being the only writer to traverse the Classic/New divide, but it's always fun watching you review Sylve-era stuff too.

I would love to see a docudrama about Patrick Troughton becoming the Doctor

Same. I would like a continuation of An Adventure in Time and Space continuing on from where it left of, going through each Doctor's era. I'm sure there are plenty of behind the scenes stories from family friends and colleagues that can be used in future episodes and by the time they are working on Tom's era Tom himself can tell the production team about his time as the Doctor. I know why they stopped where they did but I still think the should of continued. I would love to see the whole thing around the hiatus and Colin's subsequent sacking.

I'd like to see some of the companions come back for brief cameos sprinkled through the 60th. Remember that this coming anniversary is not a BBC production, it will be Bad Wolf Productions, which is backed by Sony. I'm a bit older than the Doctor Who show itself. I watched the first episode in November 1963. I've forgotten most of the episodes of Hartnell and Troughton, but I have reacquainted myself with most of Classic Who through Britbox. I hated Series 11 and 12 but loved 13.

I would…choose a ‘lost story’ from the Hartnell years, a fan fave…and remake with D Bradley and others playing the various roles and broadcast each Sat night for 6/7 weeks leading up to the anniversary. Just like the old days 👍🏻

I would do modern Doctors but with Classic companions. I love the Classic Doctors but kind of feel they've aged out of the role beyond cameos on screen and would rather they left them alone as they've very much changed as people from when they were cast. Paul McGann is the exception who I would adore to see return again. Classic Companions however with the likes of Susan, Leela, Romana, Ace and maybe an Ian Chesterton appearance would be great and have interesting stories to tell. I also think it would be a good opportunity to bring a Classic villain like Omega into things

How I would do the 60th anniversary, personally, is to try and include as many people that the show made famous. Official animated episodes (or clips) of a Big Finish episode for each Doctor, reruns of Classic and New Who of their favourite episodes, get people from the spin offs, SJA, Torchwood, Class. Get as many people as possible to encourage the public to rewatch the show.
I liked this idea of looking into the subculture of the Fandom and Comic Cons, which could be a fascinating 30-minute documentary. They should probably have some Games media, VR or AR; there's even a rumour that TT is developing a Doctor Lego Game!
At the end of it all, though, I wouldn't want all the old Doctors to join for the 60th-anniversary episode. I think David is coming back, Matt maybe, but we've seen them interact already. I could see Peter having fun with David and Jodie, but I also want Paul to have a proper on-screen chance and not just a mini-episode. And as for a villain? It has to be someone big, like Omega or Rassilon’s revenge. Or maybe the Celestial Toymaker?

    My ideas for a 60th:
    - An animated show with older Doctors that airs around September, leading into November. It'd be an anthology, showing unseen small adventures that happened between other stories, a light tone to it.
    - Some documentaries and stuff
    - Maybe a restaged Missing Story with David Bradley or maybe an original story/an adaptation of an unmade story.
    - The 60th anniversary special itself, which in my version of events is sorta a pilot for Series 14. You'd have 14 get properly introduced, along with a new companion, with a returning monster and an old companion who'd factor into the plot. It'd be designed to allow casual audiences to get aboard with the new era, whilst also having elements for older folks to enjoy.
I feel like all this would be a decent celebration. You've got an animated show with older Doctors, and a 60th that has some old elements, but also sets in motion the next few years of the program.

When it comes to animation, just adapt some big finish stories. The one thing I'd say against a doctor who animation series is that every time they have done animation it's been really bad and cheap.

Billy's Who Shop Experience😁 - that shop is the last of its kind. It's properly independent with all the weird idiosyncrasies that go with it (It was opposite East Ham station but they moved to closer to Upton Park station and the old West Ham stadium). On a visit you never know if you were gonna be welcomed with open arms or feel repelled out the door by the moodiness.
I'm very meh about the 60th but I do like the idea of a novelty episode that's a proper remake of an old episode done live or whatever. If the old Doctors are in a special it needs to be a kind of dream sequence then they can get away with anything.

I’d say McGann would be my ideal dream return.
Colin I would love to see back. Granted he is…a bit bigger but I’d happily accept him back.
Sylvester you can easily dye the hair and give him something like his movie outfit…
    Tennant…hmmm…spike up the hair .
    Smith don’t exaggerate.
Capaldi…now this is a twist. Everyone thinks he’s the 12 but it turns out it’s Rasslion, having regenerated into a body like the 12th. He wants revenge on the Doctor for exiling him and lures them all into a trap, pretending to be 12

If they ignore classic who again in this anniversary I'll be really pissed off, especially if they do multiple specials with different doctors, if it's just 10 and 11 again I would not be that interested in watching it.
I'd like to see a special with a classic doctor (either 5, 6 or my favourite 7), a special with 8 and a special with 10 or 11, with the big crossover event special afterwards.

Remembrance or genesis? That is really hard as they're 2 of my three favourite dalek story (along with dalek, 4&5 would be bad wolf/parting of the ways and stolen earth/journeys end, followed by victory of the daleks, the first new years special and eve of the daleks).

Love this idea. sort of like an anthology of different doctors with a thread weaving between them all towards a 60th finale. As for casting. I think any actor who has played the doctor that is still living and in good enough health, will be spoken to. Eccleston, Tennant, Smith, Capaldi, Whittaker... As long as the script is tight, the money is right, the director is good and there's a good reason to bring these characters back for the actors to justify them bringing their doctors back then all is possible. Davies is a big draw (aside from the rift between him and Eccleston).

    For my 60th Anniversary Special.
I'd probably have a six-episode mini-series. Like Flux in a way, where a big event is happening it would involve 3 Master, the Swarm and the Terrible Zodin as the big bads, possibly.
My Doctors would most likely be: David T, Matt, Peter C (hopefully), Jodie, Jo, Paul and (possibly) David B.
I'd want to include Peter D, Colin and Syl somehow. As well as Tom.
For the others, I'd have something a little different, maybe have a flashback of a younger War Doctor, an aged 2nd Doctor and a Watcher in the form of the 3rd Doctor consulting Jo's Doctor with dialogue from Devious.
As for Chris, I'd have him as a Plan A and Plan B, where if he's unavailable, I'd just give his dialogue to other Doctors.

    • @charlestownsend9280
      @charlestownsend9280 2 роки тому

Cause capaldi was never woke? It's not like his doctor ever directly called out the war on terror as only creating more terrorists or did a whole anti war speech or punch a rich white gay for being racist and sexist. The show didn't become woke because a female is now saying and doing the same things that every doctor has ever said and done, that's the only thing that has changed.
