I lost half of my hair after covid, but after 6 months I’ve got it back. I was taking vitamins D3 Zinc and Magnesium it helped me a lot! Stay blessed everyone 🙌.
I had covid in August. I have naturally curly shoulder length hair. It is falling out in long pieces whenever I wash it. It is so thin now. Devastating. This disease is like some kind of bio weapon to do this to people. I’m so sorry for everyone going through this.
During my 90-day hair growth journey, I practiced yoga and exercises, massaged my scalp with oil three times a week, shampooed once a week, and applied llitllextra Reactivate hair serum. The outcome, my hair growth increased without any hair fall.
The most effective step you can do for your hair is to apply cocoonion oil and shampoo and the reactivate serum. I've been sticking to this hair care routine for the past 25 days now, and my hair is getting denser day by day.
i reduced the frequency of my hair washes to 2 to 3 times a week. i apply the reactivaate serum daily and wash it off with plain water after about 10 hours. i use the coconioon shampoo and conditioner of litttllextra two times a week. i sleep for 8 hours of sleep daily and focus on reducing stress. this routine has really helped me, resulting in no hair fall and increased hair growth.
It's happening to me, too. Started losing hair about 2 months after recovering from a serious case of covid. I went to a wig store today. The owner told me that HALF of her customers are post COVID recoverees. Wow. Hang in there everyone. We will get through this.
I got the littleextrra reactiivate hair serum as a gift for my mom, who had hair thinning. She observed a notable decrease in hair fall and is excited to see small hairs growing back.
I dealt with extreme hair fall about 6 months ago. For the past 6 months, I have been using reactivate serum for hair growth, and I have noticed a nice reduction in hair fall. Additionally, the hair thinning issue is also managed well.
My own hair growth journey of success, I adhered to this daily regimen: Take early morning sunshine daily for essential vitamin D. Consume vegetables of various colours. Applying paraben-free and fragrance free shampoo and gently massaging twice a week with hair oil from litttleextra's cooconion. Imp. to keep in mind that hair growth is influenced by general health as well as circulation and nutrition.
Wow I don't feel so alone after reading the comments! I had covid in September and noticed hair shedding mid November. We'll get through this guys with styling hair differently, hats and caring for our hair. My heart goes out to everyone struggling with this. *Update* Wanted to do an update incase it helps anyone else. Ive noticed that my hair has slowed down in the amount of shedding throughout the day which I'm glad about. I've started taking biotin too. I've stopped using dry shampoo. I haven't drastically changed my hair routine but have been wrapping my hair in a soft t-shirt which is more gentle. Been trying to be patient and am planning on cutting my hair a few inches so it is all the same length. I'm hoping that will help with the appearance of it.
I had suffered from Covid in September as well and my hair shedding started in mid November.. Its getting depressing to see my hair everywhere, falling out like never before ☹️☹️ I feel helpless as I dont know what to do
I also had it in September and had no hair loss up until a few weeks ago and I have noticed and INCREASED amount of hair loss and it has been scary and also making me feel more anxious. I'm praying it stops and grows back thicker it looks so lifeless 🥺
I had covid in August,it was no picnic, I noticed my hair loss a couple months later, I didn't know what was causing it so I bought biotin and collagen , I got scared the way it came out like someone that had chemo, it is slowing down but I can see my scalp and some short little stubbles, I sure hope it all grows back in
I'm not alone! My family thought I was crazy but I told them I am losing a crazy amount of hair and I think its because I had covid at the end of August. Come early November, I started losing hair by the handfuls... taking a shower made me cry! I hope this stops soon because I am starting to see my scalp.
Before I had covid, my hair was extremely thick and full, to the point that my hair-stylist brother of nearly 11 years, claims I still have the thickest hair of anyone he has ever met. About a month after recovery, I started losing LARGE clumps of hair... and now I’m starting to see through to my scalp. I’ve been crying a lot. I’ve stopped all heat on my hair, I went cold-Turkey with coloring my hair.... and I even avoid washing it at times because of the sheer amount of hair that falls out. Since around Oct. 1- this has been my new normal. Brush and loosely braid my hair, cry, and hide my bald spots the best that I can. I don’t have the money to go to the doctor, so thank you for making this video. Now- to watch it. 👀 Edit: I love how supportive this comment section is- we are going to get through this together 🥺 Second Edit: Y’all right when my hair fall started to lessen, I got Covid again. Take care of yourself and your families, everyone.
I also had SUPER thick hair, long and auburn before Covid-I had it in August. I started losing it about 2 weeks after I was sick. I had a scalp biopsy about 2 years ago that showed I had hormonal hair loss and started Rogaine. I went to my GP in October and he did blood work and I had an ANA, which is systemic inflammation, they suspect it is due to Covid. I am using the Rogaine still and got some apple cider vinegar shampoo and wash it 2x a week. Do not brush it until it is completely dry and hold it at the mid-section when you brush it. I also take a good hair, skin, and nail vitamin-maybe prenatal. A good friend of mine told me to rub castor oil on my scalp also. Use a wide tooth comb and not brushes...hang in there, it will stop and start to grow back. It is just hair and you survived.
This was my experience too - I have normally very thick hair but it started coming out in handfuls about a month after I recovered fully from Covid, which for me was almost exactly a year ago. I had nearly bald spots on the sides and back. My hair did start growing back about six months later, and my stylist says it feels really thick and full now (it's hard for me to judge!) Don't lose hope!
I suffered from the stress shed right before the pandemic and it did last for about 6 months. The best thing that helped after going to the dermatologist was taking 10,000 mg of biotin (nothing expensive). It did resolve after 6 months and I stopped styling it and just clipping it up or put it in bun while hiding my scalp as best as I could. You can’t really do anything about TE hair loss but simply not stress and let it ride out. My hair length grew during this time also. When your hair gets stringy at the ends from the hair loss, a blunt cut will help the fullness look while you ride it out. Best of luck to everyone with this and don’t stress. Stressing makes it worse. Just know that you will overcome this with time.
I’m going through this right now. I feel like crying. However, knowing that it’ll grow back is encouraging. I lost all my hair during chemo but knowing it will grow back is very soothing. Thank you. I don’t sleep well at all, so I will work on that. Thanks everyone! ♥️♥️♥️
@@Denny-up3pi My ponytail is only about 2/3 as thick as it was before Covid. I think it has slowed down. However, last night I dreamed even more hair loss. Huge clumps in my hand. Soooo, evidently nightmares are part of this “pandemic.”
@@dianejoneswolford3289 my ponytail is only 30%thick as it was before but im keepi g it and rest of the hair slowly growing until they reach the ponytail it is a slow process
OMG, i had just cried and almost became hopeless when i counted how much hair loss i have, and now i see this video, it makes me become hopeful. I hope my hair will come back as you said. Thank you so much for your advices, your detailed information!! I'm so grateful that this video was uploaded at a right time for me!!
THANK YOU for this video. I LOVE YOU. I had Covid at the beginning of November/end of October, can't remember for sure. I just started losing my hair! I was in the shower last week and a chunk came out. I was just standing in the shower holding that clump of hair and said out loud, "Welp, that just happened." I went to my hair dresser today to cut off about 8-10". It is now up to my shoulders, and I actually am enjoying this length. She is the one who mentioned those who had Covid are experiencing the hair loss quite a lot, so I decided to do more research and came across your video first. I do have baby hairs so IT DOES GROW BACK LADIES. How long I'll experience this hair loss is TBT. I'll update this comment once things settle and get back to normal. I just wanted to say this to all the girls (and guys) who are having a time with this. My GOSH is it helping me to do a healthy lifestyle change. I'm starting to live with intent when it comes to my health. Stress and Anxiety are my middle name. I'm started to workout, eat better, and do my best to sleep better! Drink more water and less coffee (this almost makes me wanna cry more than losing my hair) HAHA. That's a joke...I know I'm not funny. It is wonderful to have a camaraderie with others when it comes to encountering this issue with our hair. It does grow back and your identity is not your hair. It's going to be an interesting time but I'm excited because good things will come out of this -even if at times losing the hair does make us emotional, it's cool to feel that way, but just don't STAY that way. We got this! In closing, I just wanted to try and bring a little more positivity to this experience that we are all going through and end it with......this too shall pass and it WILL get better. :)
Thank you for encouraging us to not let a doctor brush off our concerns. I've had chronic stress most of my adulthood but it's been way worse since the pandemic started. I've noticed my hair thinning and I'm losing my curl pattern. As you said it's very disturbing and stressful.
I’m a physician assistant who worked in dermatology, I would share her videos to my patients but also share information I learned from Dr Dray. She really is the best from someone whose worked in this area.
@@amberj3941 she has helped me with scalp psoriasis, cystic acne, blackheads, proper usage of sunscreen, hair loss and change my entire skincare routine. So thankful for her videos
I prayed to God to please, please give me insight into what is going on with hair loss & what to do about it. I next came on youtube & this video was right at the top. I am thankful to hear of such conditions that can be temporary & keeping faith it is true.
Literally lost like 3/4 of my hair about 3 months after I had COVID. I am still in the regrowth phase. It has been awful. So happy that you made a video on this explaining what is going on.
Yep! I had Covid last November. Four weeks of uncontrollable fever. Then in February my hip-length hair started falling out in handfuls. I lost probably 70% of my hair like you described. I had to cut it short like a pixie, and wear hats for months. My PCP diagnosed TE, and told me it would grow back in about six months. And it did start growing back in that amount of time. So sad about the hair loss, but so grateful that was the worst long-term effect I suffered. Thank you for addressing the emotional component. I felt like I lost a lot of my persona and identity when my hair fell out. And then I felt guilty about putting that much emphasis on my hair.
There's no shame in feeling upset about hair loss. Hair is a huge component of our personal style and how we express ourselves. I would have felt the same way as you did. I'm glad you're recovered from covid and that your hair grew back
I did go to a Dermatologist and he did act like I was wasting his time. I am trying another one like you suggested. I worry about losing my hair constantly which is not helping the situation. This video was very helpful.
I had delta covid in November and starting the beginning of the year I had massive hair fall. That was distressing enough but my scalp is sometimes sore and my hair gets extra tangled when I wash it. I’ll be cutting my hair really short to reduce the psychological stress of seeing long clumps of hair everywhere I look and to also alleviate the tangling which has become stressful to deal with as well. I wish everyone here peace and blessings as your hair returns to its normal growth cycle.
Oh wow, the same with mine. When I use shampoo it feels super dry and gets tangled even though I brush before the shower to help with shedding. That's when the clumps come out the most is when I'm washing it. The texture feels gross, I have also noticed my scalp being really sore some days on one side of my head. My hair has thinned so much and at this rate I feel like I may go bald. I also had the antibodies like 4 days into covid, the week of Thanksgiving. High fever, hurt to even be awake but I was hurting so bad sleep was so hard to come by.I took alot of Ibuprofen and tylenol for the horrid headache I kept for the first few days! I'm Going to the dermatologist next week. I hope we all have success with our hair growing back. Prayers and love for all.
You have described EXACTLY what is happening to me!!! In addition to the hair falling out, I have a sore scalp and hair tangling after I wash my hair also!
I am a PA in family med. This was and extremely helpful video. I have caught many patients with TE. Many patients are very thankful when we diagnosis this because it decreases their stress. The distress these poor patients have gone through and to have this is terrible. This video will help a lot of them. So thank you!
I was a divorced mom who raised 2 medically challenging kids. A number of times I've had to change doctors because they were either not listening or they blew off symptoms as being no big deal. They were all very good doctors from a clinical perspective, just not right for us. In one case, 3 years were lost in getting to the underlying problem unnecessarily. We eventually got to PCPs and specialists who worked with us, even engaging the kids in their own treatment. As a result my children are now healthy and happy adults. Not every doctor is right for every patient. Thank you for the reminder to look elsewhere if you aren't being heard. Partnering with your physician is so important in treatment, especially in these times. ♥️
This explanation was 100% my experience post covid. The shedding all over, the three months offset, the sensitive scalp... All of it. But the good thing is, it's slowing down
My scalp, and the skin between my shoulder blades felt on fire, during my covid 6 weeks ago..It hurt so much just to gently touch my hair!!.Yesterday I noticed my hair is shedding a lot...my hair journey is just beginning...So glad yours is slowing down!
Wow I was so hoping you’d touch on this topic I had COVID April this year. Two months after I had immense hair loss my hair was all over my floors, drain and brush. This lasted for me about 1-2 months of losing hair and finally it did stop and now my hair is growing back to where it was Thanks so much for this video.
@@yolandacorral3577 im still experiencing hair loss from my pfizer vaccin two months ago but im taking zinc, magnesium (the name of the medicine is silidyn ortho silicium) and vitamine d3 and i’ve noticed alot of hairs growing back
Such solid information. I experienced massive post Covid hair loss of 3/4 of my hair a year ago. The shedding has ended and I have a lot of regrowth. The result is a lot of crazy looking shorter hairs that look as if the hair has broken off. I am counting on time, patience, and healthy practices resolving the issue.
I was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer late 2020. Had 6 months of chemo. Three months later I got covid. My hair is growing back from the chemo but my hair isn’t the same!!! My poor body 😭
You are a warrior rockstar! You keep on doing what you are doing. You have that inner strength that you thought you would never have. I admire your courage. (Fellow survivor). Keep on kicking major butt!😘💞💪
Had Covid in the beginning of Feb this year and about a month ago I noticed a lot of diffused hair loss. It's very difficult not ro stress when you see you hair falling out in clumps and everywhere around the house 😭 I didn't have a lot of hair to begin with so to lose that much hair is devastating to me. I completely changed my diet and now only eating once a day avoiding junk and anything processed. Air drying my hair, vitamins, and a lot of praying for myself and anyone going through the same thing.
Had Covid in December . February it started to fall out at first I was very upset but I realized I couldn’t do anything about so I got a pixie cut. At first I was embarrassed I wore head wraps but I got use to it. Don’t worry it will grow back. A person is beautiful inside and out God bless 🌸
It was 2 months AFTER covid i starting noticing unusual hair loss. I knew right away without looking at a video it was post covid issue so I did a search then found many vids on it being a real issue. I heard multiple times it will grow back, as is said here. Very thick hair, much thinner now. Grateful for my life, will focus on my blessings, and in time it'll grow in fully. In the emantume, I can be supportive and sensitive to others by sharing my experience and bring comfort to others. When one lady's house burnt down, she said she had a better view of the sun. Get creative- wear hats more-cute ones:), count your many blessings, make a gratitude list, find a new hobby to take your mind elsewhere. Be happy that you are you, hair or not!:) you are loved. Your hair can grow back while you're making your heart fuller🤗.
Did you get the jab, it’s caused mine to go really grey at 36, I had none before. And constant vivid dreams causing great fatigue and tinnitus. Rumble has lots of reports on it
In October 2021 I went through three traumatic events within 2 weeks. I lost my job, I got very ill, and my sweet dog passed away. I am now experiencing an alarming amount of hair shedding. In my distress and search for answers I found you. I am so thankful for you creating this video and answering a lot of my questions and easing my mind. I remember my mother experiencing the same thing during a stressful time in her life so I may have a genetic predisposition as well. Her hair came back as well. Thank you again!
Thank you Dr Dray, I’ve been telling people about my hair loss for a month now and no one believes me. It’s been awful, not only the loss/shedding but constant Knotting and brittleness. It feels like I’m post chemo or radiation poisoning, not viral. It’s terrible.
I am sorry this is happening to me now. I purchased some emf beanies and blankets. I hope that helps me to stop the shedding. I am testing it out to see what the cause is, because this is abnormal for me.
Omg I just went through this last summer and was freaking out! Had no idea it could have possibly been from Covid. My hair is back to normal now thank God!
I’m experiencing a lot of hair loss through hair thinning since I had covid early December 2021. This is very distressing for me because I’ve always had thick hair, even at 74 years old. Thank you, Doctor, for all of this information. This is most helpful. Four months to go!! Hopefully, sooner, to see hair growth. God bless you.
I'm so grateful to this doctor and for all of you out there commenting. I had covid for a month and about two months later started losing my hair. It's been going on for almost a month now and it's not looking good. I cry a lot and worry whether it will stop before I become bald.. It is comforting to hear your stories and to know that I am not alone and my distress is normal. I now have hope that my hair will recover even though the months ahead may be awful. I've never worn a wig but guess it may become necessary.😔 Thank you all and may we have strength to get through this..This too shall pass
I’m 60 years old and just grew my hair back out after cutting it super short two years ago so I could grow in my new natural gray color…. which I receive a lot of compliments on… and now… sigh… losing quite a bit of it… wondering if I might need to cut it super short again. I need to look at the positive side… if hair loss is my only long lasting symptom… I have a lot to be grateful for. You are not alone. And, I’m learning what this is and that I’m not alone! We got this!!! ☺️👍❤️
I'm a respiratory therapist that has been mainly in the covid ICU for the last 2 years. I see hair fall out in CLUMPS in the pts. It's so crazy, even their body hair. But you're so right about the stress...my hair had absolutely lost thickness due to so much stress... Let alone I've lost so much weight from stress and 20,000 steps a day at work. It's getting so old. Thanks for all you do.
Ugh! Yep this is me. Had Covid in December and started shedding late feb and now much more. I even lost curl definition. I had spent some much time in taking care of my hair so this has been devastating!! But I am hopeful that with time my hair will all grow out again. Keep taking care of your hair… cut a few inches if you have too. Take your vitamins .. and just remember.. we loosing our hair.. but thank GOD we still alive!
Thank you so much Dr.Dray. I had Covid back in early August. I stopped breathing twice and was in the hospital a week. I have lost 80 percent of my hair. I had very thick hair. I was on blood thinners and steroids and home health. I haven't been sleeping at night either. This has been so helpful.
This happened to me too, when I was in the hospital; they gave me so many meds, that my liver, gallbladder and pancreas are still effected. Also most of my hair fell out. One good thing came of it, I had been coloring my hair and was getting really tired of it (I am 73 years old) and now I have my hair gray and I am also buying some fun wigs! One thing about the hair that’s coming in now, the texture is really different; before I had slightly wavy hair and now I have a fro!
I am so glad I stumbled across this video. It gives me answers and hope. I got out of the shower and bawled my eyes out as clumps of hair fell from my already fine hair. I had CoVid in October and I’ve been going through hair loss and major digestive issues. It’s so stressful and upsetting. Thank you for clarifying what’s going on and giving us hope that it may be temporary. It makes me furious that no one will be held accountable for this virus after all the damage it’s done around the world.
Me too had in Dec and in Feb it started!!! I'm so upset but I pray it'll come back...doesn't help my husband is going through chemo..ugh...I hope everyone on here gets better soon! 🙏🙏
I had covid when I gave birth, so I had a double whammy of post-partum hair loss and covid related hair loss. It's now been just over a year since my hair first started falling out. It's still thin, especially around the hairline. It snaps easily and brushing can feel a bit painful. My hair does look better, but I think considering how much I lost, it's going to be a few years before I can say it's back to where it was before pregnancy/covid (hopefully!). All I can say is, be gentle with your hair! No unnecessary brushing, pulling, washing... just let it be when you can. This has probably helped me the most.
Did you get the jab, it’s caused mine to go really grey at 36, I had none before. And constant vivid dreams causing great fatigue and tinnitus. Rumble has lots of reports on it
So glad I saw this. I had the virus and was hospitalized for 2 weeks. I felt like I was dying. About 4-6wks after I was discharged my hair fell out like crazy! I was so 😳 scared. It’s still happening but has definitely slowed down. Thanks Dr Dray, this made me feel encouraged.
Thank you for being so informative! Your answer is Stress Release !!!!daily. Do not fear! Be proactive. Continue better nutrition! Share our success quietly be determine positive! Went through this as well & hair is back to normal. I got COVID February 2020 and was seriously ill for 4 months. Part of my recovery was mass shedding for 9 months. Prior to the loss I had wavy hair & every stylist would comment I had “a ton of hair”. After the mass shedding started I couldn’t even make a ponytail. Noticeably thin hair for 9 months. Then it started to grow back starting early 2021, but much curlier (love my new spiral curls). I had my first post COVID haircut in June 2021 & told her to cut all the yuck off. Ended up with a cut just above my shoulders with the new curls. Love to all experiencing this horrible side effect. Sharing my story to give details and hope from someone who made it through. I can honestly say my hair is better than before
I've lost 1/3rd of my hair over the last 1.5 months. I can't stand it, it causes it's own stress. I am glad to hear that it's normal and non scarring. I am doing PRP & minoxodil. Thank you for sharing this info!!!
Wow! This is so timely! I’ve been freaking out about how much hair I’ve been losing recently. Got sick the beginning of September. Just noticed my hair coming out more and more over the past month or two. 😬😬😬
How is it now in January? I had c in September too but notice increased shedding in November. My showers are getting much better but still have a decent amount on the brush.
Thanks so much for this video Dr Dray. I have suffered hair loss for a year now, went to the dermatologist, did blood test, it's definitely due to the stress of the pandemic, disruption in sleep habits...I've tried everything and have now decided that I'm just going to accept it and focus try not to be affected by it so much and instead focus of my general wellbeing.
Thank you so much for this! I had covid 4 months ago. I started noticing hair loss about a month ago. My scalp became irritated and I was losing more hair. I was freaking out and my gf just sent me this. So glad I'm not alone.
THIS!!!! Explains so much! I suffer from life crippling anxiety and I got COVID a few months ago and have been visiting my doctor more than usual due to sensitive scalp and weird sensation. I keep thinking I have some sort of cancer or tumor. (don’t we all?) And I really can’t believe you mentioned this. Thank you!!!!
For me it sucks, I got covid delta in late July. My hair thinned greatly but as of now I had tons of baby hairs spring up of regrowth. And I know my shedding isn't completely over so I shaved my head slick bald until it's over. Lol I'm a woman and I'm looking into wigs but right now I'm rocking the bald look and my husband said I'm still beautiful so I'm good.
@Dermot Fitzpatrick okay I definitely will! I just needed some health insurance, I finally got some. Hey btw my last name is also Fitzpatrick. But I married into that last name.
Wow, That was A Brave move. I have considered doing the same thing but I would first have to find some good wigs. I don't look good in bald or short hair.... I had the delta variant in October. my thick hair is probably 3/4 gone now. I am so happy to read that you have baby hairs already coming in.... We all have hope!
I love that you mention sleep. Sleep & nervous system regulation is still so underrated and often left out when talking about recovering from health issues. Thank you.
I’m so happy I found this video and all of the comments. I too had Covid, mine was in June of 2022 and by Sept my hair started falling out. It’s so upsetting and I avoid washing my hair due to the large amount of hair that comes out after I wash it. It’s horrible but at least now I know why it’s happening and feel like there is hope .
My covid infection was the end of July, started noticing a lot more shedding this fall, but I chalked it up to normal autumn shedding, but it's November now and it truly is hairloss - never had I seen so much hairs fall out of my head. My infection was pretty mild too, no major fever or anything crazy. I feel for you and everyone else going through this hell.
Thank you so much! I’ve been experiencing severe hair shedding for past 3 months. Have appointment with Derm in few weeks. Along with shedding also have scalp tenderness. I hope it’s not permanent. Thanks for encouraging us to find a doctor that truly listens. You’re the best Dr Dray🙏
I had covid in october and my hairloss began at the end of december. I literally lost 60-70% of my hair. A few weeks later i began to take barley grass powder capsules every day and after one week my hair loss stopped. You could literally see my scalp. I cut my hair to my chin so i could gain a little bit of volume and it worked. Im taking the capsules for over two months and my hair is growing so fast. You can not see any baldness anymore. I hope i can help somebody with these information. Sorry for my english, it is not my native language.
I had Covid early October of last year and started noticing my hair shedding more then the norm the middle of November. We’re now in April and my hair has finally stopped coming out in clumps and has returned to its normal shedding cycle!! I’m also noticing alot of regrowth. I’m so glad the worst is behind me…. Looking forward to thicker hair again!!
I had covid in august and I’am currently going through this…started at the beginning of November…I cry everyday seeing how much hair I’ve lost…good to know there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Interesting, I too had it in July/August along with several other people I know and they all have experienced this hair loss, which is th first time I recall hearing about this aftereffect.
Lisa Cole I had COVID in August too, and going thru it now with hair loss. Try not to stress, and take vitamin C, magnesium, pumpkin seed oil, drink plenty of water with silica, and keep scalp clean it will grow back just thank the most high we are still alive.
God bless you for posting this video! I had a severe case of covid from mid September through mid-october and started losing my hair after Thanksgiving. It started when I shampooed and large handfuls were coming out! Yes it was very disheartening and depressing but after watching your informative video I feel my spirits have been lifted and My Hope restored that this too shall pass. I have shared this with another friend who recently contracted covid (even after being vaccinated). I look forward to watching your other videos regarding hair regrowth. Again God bless you and thank you so much ❤️
I experienced this after Covid. My hair dresser even noticed it. She said her mom went thru the same thing. Also, I am a 3rd shift worker and have poor sleep hygiene. It has been growing back.....thank goodness. I have been wondering about this topic. Thank you!!
I never let the pandemic stress me out. I caught it this September really bad. 3 months to the day my hair has been coming out in ridiculous amounts. I’ve always had beautiful thick hair. It’s very depressing. I just want someone to say it’ll grow back

I have been worrying about my hair loss and just started to look into what to do about it. This makes so much sense to me. I did have covid or at least some type of illness a few months ago. And am definitely feeling loads of stress. Thank you for addressing this issue!
Completely understand how you feel. I had thick hair all my life and now I feel like my head is practically naked. I never thought my hair would be so fine to the point I could see my scalp. I cry every day as I see more fall out. So nice to know I’m finally not alone and there a whole community that is going through this with me and that I can talk to.
This video couldn’t be more time appropriate, for the last 4 weeks I’ve experienced a lot of shedding, I was distraught and in tears because I couldn’t find a reason why. This video gave me so much clarity! Thank you Andrea. I already have my derm appointment
I have had many many stressful events in my life and none of them triggered hair loss like post covid. It is unnerving to say the least but I’m accepting that there’s not much I can do about it except to take care of myself and be patient.
Yay, I’ve requested this video twice from you because I was going through it and I knew others would be, too. From the comments, it’s obvious. My hair loss is finally slowing now that I’m 4 months out from covid.
Trichotilamania is something I’ve been dealing with since I was 15. Healing from divorce helped. Dating middle age was stressful so overall hair loss happened and “picking” or rooting around caused my hair to break off in small patches. I know it’s all psychological for me. I had a nightmare last night that large patches fell out. Horrible. 😲 So much has happened since 2020… lost so much and couldn’t get medical insurance (long story), a horse crushed my foot, been on crutches for over a year, and much more. I had everything going for me and 2020 was gonna be my year of success. It’s all good tho. I’ve got a wonderful man in my life (5 years now), my daughter helps me run our business, do my laundry and grocery shopping, etc. and she started her own business as well. I’m starting (self) physical therapy & plan on walking on TWO feet this year!
Honestly one of the only people I trust to give me complete and thorough information. I’ve lost like 3/5ths of my hair after I contracted Covid. But in the same year I left my spouse. I think I’ve just been so anxious that it’s caused me to lose a ton of hair. Not only have a been stressed but losing this much hair has made me feel even worse. :(
I noticed in November I was shedding way more than normal. I had covid this past August. Didn't have to be hospitalized, thanks to God. This all makes sense now. Need to get into better sleeping habits and manage my stress better. Perfect timing making this video Dr. Dray. Thank you. ❤
Wow, reading these comments, it's scary so many are dealing with this. I first heard of it on a neighborhood FB group where people were talking about lingering symptoms they had after having recovered from Covid. Hair loss was one. Really happy to know that it is only temporary, but still devastating for those who are going through it I'm sure.
I had this issue as well after getting sick last year and eventually developing pneumonia. That was June of 2020 and I think I lost about a third of my hair. A year later my hair finally started growing back in, though I’m not sure it will be the same. I have my health though, so it isn’t all bad news. 😊
I have had far more stressful issues in my 70+ years, and NEVER lost this much hair! No. The C-virus is a man-manipulated bio-weapon and it's the poisons, just like chemotherapy, that are affecting us!
I’m so glad you posted this. I had COVID in the beginning of June and it was only around the last two months that I began experiencing heavy hair loss. I wasn’t aware of this as a side effect when it originally began and it was concerning to suddenly be losing so much hair. I originally was tested by my doctor for thyroid issues and everything came back fine, other than having a low white blood cell count. My hair stylist also mentioned several of her clients experiencing this as well. So crazy how COVID affects the body short-term and long-term.
Can’t thank you enough for addressing this issue. My hair has been my jewel crown all my life. Curly, lots of it, super silky and bouncy when round brushed. Then I lost my dad to colon cancer in 2018 and I was devastated. A few months later my hair loss stated. Then Covid hit in 2020. In 2021, we sold our home of over 20 years to move out of state. I immediately regretted it. So, after much stress and anguish and with the help of a therapist, (first time ever!), we moved back and had to buy again. Then I got Covid twice. Now my hair is half the density, doesn’t curl anything like before and so dry and brittle. I just want my pre-2018 hair back! 😔
Had Covid in June with mild symptoms and recovered thankfully quickly in about 14-16 days. I had to chop off my hair a week ago that I’ve been growing my entire life up to right under my shoulders, bc the shedding was getting uncontrollable and half my hair had looked visibly thinner. Thanks for the information.
I have lupus. Had mild Covid in October / November 2021. High stress, not vax, scalp pain, loosing my curl, and hair thinning. This was informative. Thank you again!
Thank you Dr. Dray for this informative video. I had Covid in May 2020 and was hospitalized for 2 weeks with Covid pneumonia. I was unable to get vaccinated afterwards because I had chronic bronchitis for the next 13 months then got the Delta Variant and was hospitalized for almost a month last July-August. After finally coming home, 3 days later, I was rushed back to the hospital when my oxygen level dipped to 59% . I was admitted again with another case of pneumonia---bacterial this time. Eventually I was released to go home with a pic line and my husband was trained to administer my very strong IV antibiotics. I've been basically in self imposed quarantine ever since. Today is my 2 week post 2nd vaccine day!!! Finally But I've already had bronchitis 3 times since I came home late August. Sigh!!! My hair started coming out after my first Covid pneumonia experience and had finally stopped shedding so excessively when I got Covid #2. Now, my hair is so thin you can see my scalp especially around my face and crown. I have collected 2 sandwich size ziplock bags PACKED with hair that came out from normal brushing just over the last few weeks. I did not know sleep deprivation can also increase my shedding. I rarely get to sleep before 4 to 5 am. I just cannot turn off my brain. I have flashbacks of my time in ICU and the machines etc. The high flow oxygen machine I was on for 2 weeks ruined my teeth as well. Ten of my upper teeth are loose and I had to have a bone graft surgery a month ago and now one side of my teeth has shifted so much I cannot get my teeth together on that side which means I'm loosing weight because eating is so difficult and painful. It has affected my emotional and mental health as much as physical. It helped me tremendously just having you AFFIRM the struggle me and thousands of others are going through post Covid. THANK YOU.
Oh my gosh I'm so very sorry for all you've been through! You've given me some perspective on this. I will worry less about my hair loss and pray for protection for all of us. I pray for your recovery! May God look after you.
Thank you so much for sharing this! I was diagnosed with COVID in August and started losing my hair in November, with the addition of scalp pain. This video have helped give me a direction to go and has helped my stress over this condition.
I too had Covid in August. I had an elective day surgery August 5th. Got covid August 12th. Started noticing my hair shedding in October. I have (had) thick hair. Thankfully I had enough hair to not lose all of it. It has been stressful. It has finally slowed down. I notice less and less hair loss. I have baby hairs growing along my hairline. I am hoping it grows back the way it used to be.
I had NO idea about this, and I've been dealing with this for months!! It's so scary, like I'm 37...losing little "Barbie sized wigs" in the drain...😭🤣 Thanks for making this video Dr. Drey!! Glad I'm not alone. 😌
One thing not mentioned that got me to look at this: a key factor in COVID is low oxygen levels...I got it last week of Aug, and it was a 6 week journey of illness/recovery. My breathing was unbelievably shallow and I wasn't getting better until a friend pointed out to me that that was the issue and so I forced myself to do deep breathing and started to see a turn around. I did not want to go to the hospital. Then major hair loss the past few months, I had super thick/healthy hair all my life and I also as others here have been avoiding washing my hair and have also clogged the drains with massive hair loss. So I found out that the low oxygen levels result in killing off the hair follicles and plays a key role in triggering this. Low oxygen entails low blood flow, so massage that scalp to stimulate blood flow as well.
Thank you Dr Dray for doing this video. I am in the UK and finding it really hard even to get my GP (doctor) to believe my hair is falling out as much as i am saying. I had covid, along with my husband and 2 teenagers, in October 2021. I suffered worse than them, had severe fever for 2 weeks and each night the sweats were horrendous. Between us, we were changing sheets each day as they were soaked. 3 months on and 2 weeks ago, i noticed my hair was coming out alot more than normal. I have fine frizzy hair which is almost down to my waist. I spoke to my GP and she said basically it was the stress my body was under when I had covid. At the time, i didn't have any scalp pain but now i do. My scalp feels like a burning and tends to go when i put my head under the shower. This week alone I have filled a small plastic bag (in the UK we call them sandwich bags) with my hair. The hairloss is being noticed all the time. I have cried, i feel angry. Should I be minimising my washing my brushing?
Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this with us! I’m 47 with naturally thick silver white hair. I have experienced 3 major hair shedding events in my life and it’s really scary. It would come out in clumps when I washed it or brushed it. The first time was after I had my son ~ which was normal and expected so I didn’t worry. The second time was when my ex husband and I were getting divorced. I didn’t realize that stress affected hair loss that much. I just thought it was because of all of the weight I lost so quickly. Then I stopped using the WEN shampoo and later found out that people were suing because of hair loss. I just thought it was that. Last summer (2020) I had a surgery that went very wrong and I wound up in a coma for a week and in the hospital for 5 weeks. My pain doctor put me on Lyrica and by October I had horrible acne and major hair loss. I had a long Bob haircut and what fell out at that length was bigger than a golf ball ~ and that’s just what I saved from brushing and washing my hair ~ not what just fell out on it’s own. Now it all makes perfect sense! I shared it with my sister who is under a lot of stress right now and losing her hair. Thank You Thank You Thank You My hair has all grown back but since I chopped it all off last year, it’s still a pixie cut because it’s so easy!!! 😜🤣
I wish I had found this video before I stressed myself out even more scouring the internet for reasons why I was losing 50% of my hair! It’s been coming out everywhere in handfuls every single day. I’m surprised I am not bald yet for how much I’m losing. It started 2 months after I got Covid in October last year and it is still falling out like crazy. This video gives me peace of mind that this is just temporary hair loss and it will grow back! Thank you!!
I had covid in July and in September I started loosing hair and tinnitus started at the same time. The hair loss slowed down after a couple of months. I had some volumizing layers added to my hair to help me feel better about this.
Myself and 2 other people I know lost hearing and started to have tinnitus around the time of having COVID. The specialist thinks that the virus got in to my inner ear and there is no fixing it. I have a hearing aid now 😢
@@perfume.vortex361 I'm so sorry that happened to you! I have been giving this to Jesus and asking him to restore my body and he is doing that. Not trying to push anything on you, just sharing what I've done that works. I wish you the best!!!
I had intensive surgery earlier this year and my hair started shedding. I used infrared therapy on my body and scalp. Now my hair is thicker than it was before the surgery. RLT has been FDA approved for hair loss. It's not instant but I think it's responsible for my strong regrowth. It has many other health benefits too.
Thank you for this excellent video. I have had COVID on December last year. In February I noticed the hair loss. As time goes, it is very traumatic experience and it adds to my stress, anxiety and depression. I do like to take any medication other than vitamins. Today, I’m still shedding hair but not as much as when it started but it is very depressing. I used to have full thick hair and now I have lost 50%. This video is giving me comfort to know specific information about this situation. I’m also experiencing sleep problems, magnesium is helping to sleep more hours. It is a combination of issues that I’m working one day at a time. Blessings to you for each day and much success in your career. I’m subscribing to your channel to follow you. Thanks again and take care.
I appreciate you making this video. I have always had a thick head of hair and then I had Covid in October and was in the hospital for 10 days since the beginning of December I have lost probably 50% of my hair and am now rocking a bald spot and the hair is still hitting the floor. It was a shock to be sure but knowing I have a good chance of growing it back is comforting.
Thank you for this video. This is the first video I have seen addressing hair loss after having covid. I battled with the GI symptoms of covid and had a fever of 101 for a little over 2 weeks. Experienced hair loss after that. Thankfully, my hair has grown back on its own. I thought I was the only one out there that had the hair loss. It is reassuring that I am not alone..
Thanks, I am one of those experiencing unprecedented hair loss. The comb, the pillow, my shoulders, the drain, all full of hair. Surprisingly, my head looks the same for as you said the loss is equally distributed. Little wisps however are showing through indicating hair regrowth !!! I feel a lot better having listened to you explain that the probable cause is stress. I have not suffered any symptoms from either the vaccine or COVID or any medications as I don’t take any so the general stress of a pandemic must be the cause. Thank you 🙏🏻
I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your discussing this! I have been losing hair like crazy for at least 9 months. My general physician said it was a male pattern baldness and I could try Rogaine. I have always had fine, thick, curly hair and this was such a shock to me. I felt dismissed. So I have an appt. With a dermatologist in two days - I’ve already done the bloodwork so we’ll see. As a back story - I was BORN anxious. I’m 77 and have taken Valium/Xanax since I was 26. When the pandemic struck, not only have I had genital herpes for 40 years, I also got Epstein Barr Syndrome. I couldn’t do anything without breaking out in red rashes and spots and sweat terribly and not be able to sleep. I hadn’t driven a car for a year. Wearing masks all the time is just horrible and stresses me out even more! I did NOT have Covid - I’ve had all the Pfizer vaccines plus the booster and a flu shot, but the stress has been unbearable, and the hair loss has been so stressful on top of all THIS. . . Well, you get the picture. You have given me so much information to discuss with the dermatologist, I simply cannot thank you enough. I’ll report back!
I'm on Euthyrox for my thyroid and had covid19 last month. My hair was already thin and now I have a bald spot near my temple area. I'm in tears your video is making me feel positive Thank you
Nioxin shampoo and conditioner for a month are helping me for almost 10 years, and yes shedding starts after a stressful events, approximately 2-3 months after, e.g. exams, job stress, and covid
If you boil rosemary in water and let it cool/strain it, it makes a wonderful hair rinse. Wash and condition as normal then after rinsing out those products with water, use this as a second rinse that you don’t rinse off. You let it air dry. Many blessings to all ✨💕
I lost half of my hair after covid, but after 6 months I’ve got it back. I was taking vitamins D3 Zinc and Magnesium it helped me a lot! Stay blessed everyone 🙌.

God, I hope that works for me, I'm devastated & starting to refuse to leave the house.
@@2b2unit Don’t live in fear. It can bring you much more stress and you can loose more hair. I send you my prayers and best wishes 🙏🏻🙌
I had covid in August. I have naturally curly shoulder length hair. It is falling out in long pieces whenever I wash it. It is so thin now. Devastating. This disease is like some kind of bio weapon to do this to people. I’m so sorry for everyone going through this.
Of course it is--it's poison and just like chemo, which is also poison. Sad, that human beings would do this on purpose to other human beings!
I’m in this position too, and I 100% believe this is a man made bio weapon released on us. There are some truly evil people running this world!
It is a bioweapon
Bio warfare for sure.
Agreed!
We will get through this.
does the hair return? or this covid hairloss perma?
Look into Viori shampoo and conditioner bar!! I promise you won't regret it. It's helped my hair loss and now I have none. A month in!
Thank you, my hair loss started last month
@@samkeffer9482 where do you get it?
I read that you don’t lose more than 50%, so I hope they are right!
I've been under constant emotional stress for almost 20 yrs. After hearing this, I guess I am lucky to have a single hair
My own hair growth journey of success, I adhered to this daily regimen:
Take early morning sunshine daily for essential vitamin D. Consume vegetables of various colours. Applying paraben-free and fragrance free shampoo and gently massaging twice a week with hair oil from litttleextra's cooconion. Imp. to keep in mind that hair growth is influenced by general health as well as circulation and nutrition.
I was having hair loss and tried many hair oils, hair masks but this worked out so well. coconnioon hair shampoo and oil is really the best.
Wow I don't feel so alone after reading the comments! I had covid in September and noticed hair shedding mid November. We'll get through this guys with styling hair differently, hats and caring for our hair. My heart goes out to everyone struggling with this.
*Update*
Wanted to do an update incase it helps anyone else.
Its getting depressing to see my hair everywhere, falling out like never before ☹️☹️ I feel helpless as I dont know what to do
Me too same timeline
Edit: I love how supportive this comment section is- we are going to get through this together 🥺
Second Edit: Y’all right when my hair fall started to lessen, I got Covid again.
My hair is also falling out. I had a whole breakdown. Bought a wig. Mostly I avoid doing anything to mine as well. I braid it and leave it alone.
Right here with u sis. A lot of crying b4 but it WILL GROW BACK STAY POSITIVE🌹
I’m going through this right now. I feel like crying. However, knowing that it’ll grow back is encouraging. I lost all my hair during chemo but knowing it will grow back is very soothing. Thank you. I don’t sleep well at all, so I will work on that. Thanks everyone! ♥️♥️♥️
Me too…
I feel you I'm so sorry ❤️
I lost loads of hair after covid but all started growing back now like 6 cm…☺️

Same! I'm a respiratory therapist, and see hair fall out in CLUMPS, especially in the ICU.
It's so embarrassing I'm so scared of it doesn't all come back
Does their hair grow back again? lf yes, fully recover or just a part?
OMG, i had just cried and almost became hopeless when i counted how much hair loss i have, and now i see this video, it makes me become hopeful. I hope my hair will come back as you said. Thank you so much for your advices, your detailed information!! I'm so grateful that this video was uploaded at a right time for me!!
I'm waiting for a year now and nothing is happening, so I lost hope for my hair. Hopefully you'll get your hair back, good luck! 💕
It will. I just know it will. :)
Hey did it grow back?
👏👏
Thank you for encouraging us to not let a doctor brush off our concerns. I've had chronic stress most of my adulthood but it's been way worse since the pandemic started. I've noticed my hair thinning and I'm losing my curl pattern. As you said it's very disturbing and stressful.

I'm glad you're recovered from covid and that your hair grew back
I can relate to the loss of identity due to hair loss and then feeling guilty about feeling so strongly about it. It’s normal and a valid feeling
I have a collegue who experienced the same after covid-19. But her hair has almost grown back now.
I feel for you ..I also lost 70% hair due to post Covid TE. I hope you are doing well
Oh my gosh! Im glad you are okay! I have uncontrollable fever for 6 days less than you now my hair is falling like crazy 😭
Same happened with me ! Regrowth takes after how many months ?
@@tigerspiritjourney Yes, my scalp burned like I had had too much sun. Thought it was from the head scarf I was wearing. Nope. COVID hair.
Ok this is good to know that it doesn't last too long. Glad its growing back
Omg thank u for sharing this. Its giving me anxiety. I hope it grows back!! 😔😔

@@yolandacorral3577 im still experiencing hair loss from my pfizer vaccin two months ago but im taking zinc, magnesium (the name of the medicine is silidyn ortho silicium) and vitamine d3 and i’ve noticed alot of hairs growing back
What did you do to make it stop and start growing back? It’s been a year for me and still it’s falling out
Such solid information.
How long were you shedding for?
I was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer late 2020. Had 6 months of chemo. Three months later I got covid. My hair is growing back from the chemo but my hair isn’t the same!!! My poor body 😭
My hair grew back different after chemo, too.
I’m sorry my lady I’m here for you
You are a warrior rockstar! You keep on doing what you are doing. You have that inner strength that you thought you would never have. I admire your courage. (Fellow survivor). Keep on kicking major butt!😘💞💪
your story moves me. Bless you!
I’m sorry you have had to go through all this. I hope you have full recovery.
Update please?

So sorry to hear your going through this
Try pure natural aloe vera. I use it and helps with knots and makes hair soft. It's a better option than oil until you get your hair back.
This is me exactly. I sure hope hair does come back.
Me too.
How long did it take until it got back to normal?
I’m experiencing a lot of hair loss through hair thinning since I had covid early December 2021. This is very distressing for me because I’ve always had thick hair, even at 74 years old. Thank you, Doctor, for all of this information. This is most helpful. Four months to go!! Hopefully, sooner, to see hair growth. God bless you.

I had covid and double covid pneumonia in 2021 . In May of 2021 my hair started coming out and hasn't stopped since.
Did it stop shedding?
Same! 🥺
Sorry you went through this. Sending positive vibes and hope your hair grows back. :)

Hi! So it's been 5 months since you commented and I am just curious how much regrowth you've had since then? Thanks in advance! :)
How are you?
I love that you mention sleep. Sleep & nervous system regulation is still so underrated and often left out when talking about recovering from health issues. Thank you.
I’m so happy I found this video and all of the comments. I too had Covid, mine was in June of 2022 and by Sept my hair started falling out. It’s so upsetting and I avoid washing my hair due to the large amount of hair that comes out after I wash it. It’s horrible but at least now I know why it’s happening and feel like there is hope .
Same timeline here. About 2/3 lost. The texture now is horrible too.

Same here. It's finally starting to grow back after a year
I have had far more stressful issues in my 70+ years, and NEVER lost this much hair! No. The C-virus is a man-manipulated bio-weapon and it's the poisons, just like chemotherapy, that are affecting us!
My thoughts exactly. I have my health ❤ and I know my hair will grow back. 🤠
@@carrier7399 1000% . It is such a bizarre viral infection. Absolutely is man made.
Thanks for your video as it's helped to reassure me that my covid hair loss will reverse itself. Love and blessings to all going through this ❣
I’m so glad you posted this.
It's a man-manipulated corona (cold) virus, that is a Bioweapon, so we have to expect some nasty side effects.
@@carrier7399 I am afraid there´s more to come.
How does it look now
I have lupus.
THANK YOU.
I'm so sorry Teresa. You got it so bad. Sending you love and prayers ❤
Very sorry you've had such a terrible time... Wishing you healing and full recovery...

This helps to shed some light on my shedding and scalp pain. I figured it was stress/rona/new job teaching related! You’re a gem, Dr. Dray!
I had NO idea about this, and I've been dealing with this for months!! It's so scary, like I'm 37...losing little "Barbie sized wigs" in the drain...😭🤣 Thanks for making this video Dr. Drey!! Glad I'm not alone. 😌
Did you get the jab, it’s caused mine to go really grey at 36, I had none before. Rumble has lots of reports on it
One thing not mentioned that got me to look at this: a key factor in COVID is low oxygen levels...I got it last week of Aug, and it was a 6 week journey of illness/recovery.

Thank You Thank You Thank You
My hair has all grown back but since I chopped it all off last year, it’s still a pixie cut because it’s so easy!!! 😜🤣
You had me a board certified dermatologist definitely trust you.
The pandemic literally triggered my hair loss, caused sleep deprivation, & shingles…….
You’re not alone!
This happened to me as well. The nerves in my eye still not healed.
Shingles!!? Oh nooooo
Did you get covid or just the fear and stress?
@@emmaaguila4502 I think it was the stress with work and the pandemic and on top of that, eating like crap.
Omg SLEEP LOSE FOR ME TOO AND STILL HAPPENING
Thank you. I was so upset until I watched this. Had covid end of Oct. Just started losing my hair. Alot. Glad to know it will grow back.
Thank you!!
Update, my hair is starting to grow back now, it’s about an inch long of regrowth. My hair always grows super fast.
Omg This, I wanted to ask you about this, I am glad you already did a video about it, Thank you 💫 !
@@jenniferviolette317me too.
Did you get the jab, it’s caused mine to go really grey at 36, and constant tinnitus, I had none before. Rumble has lots of reports on it
Thank you! I was in tears from the beginning of your video where you said it probablywasn'tpermanent! You gave me hope!
Hi Wendy, what is infrared therapy? It this only offered if you had surgery? Thank you.
I am experiencing scalp pain upon touch and brushing and a lot of shedding and dont know why, this video just opened my eyes.
For how long did your hair fall out??
Thanks, I am one of those experiencing unprecedented hair loss. The comb, the pillow, my shoulders, the drain, all full of hair. Surprisingly, my head looks the same for as you said the loss is equally distributed. Little wisps however are showing through indicating hair regrowth !!! I feel a lot better having listened to you explain that the probable cause is stress. I have not suffered any symptoms from either the vaccine or COVID or any medications as I don’t take any so the general stress of a pandemic must be the cause. Thank you 🙏🏻
Thank you for covering this topic. I got COVID back in July, my scalp hurts and I’m shedding like crazy. I had no idea this was related to COVID.
@Roseann Mazik does your scalp also hurt?
Uep.same.thing my scalp hurt sooo bad...it was one.of the scariest things ever...but my hair finally stopped.fall8ng out Thank God..
@Roseann Mazik mine has been 10 months it won’t stop soon sorry
@@MelB868 update?
I’ve been crying after my hair falling out this is helpful thanks
Update?
