My hair began shedding significantly after an extremely stressfull period in my life. So, I researched the internet & decided to experiment with the litttleextra coocoonion hair oil & a comb made of neem wood. The results definitely worked. At present, my hair is long, dense, black hair which has grown down to my waist and cut off on three occasions after I started. Simple & effective. Also, equally good is rubbing your scalp - it encourages the growth. You just must do this once a week. Before long, you will see short hairs starting to grow.
I love liittlexttra. I ordered various products from the brand and they gave me best results. I used the cooconioon shampoo and hair oil and it worked great for my hair fall reduction.
I know my hairloss was caused by anemia, as explained to me by doctor after I was tested. After 6 months of supplementing iron and Vit c I noticed my hairline completely came back. It's really important to see your doctor to be tested.

It will stop, friends! I'm so incredibly sorry for you, but I promise it will stop. It happened to me three years ago from a prescription change and it took about 14 months for mine to stop. Thank you for such great information. You're the reason why I visited a dermatologist after fighting acne for 20 years. My skin has cleared in only 2 weeks!
Peri-menopause and menopause also cause noticeable hair loss. When I hit the age of 50, I stopped using all heat appliances to slow the breakage and loss. My hair is in much better condition now. :)
I had a stylist hold the screaming hot blow dryer right on my wet hair while pulling it with the brush. I asked her not to do that. She actually said that's OK and refused to stop doing it! I could see where the hair broke right where she held it on there. Never went back.

Wow vitamin D deficiency. A year or so before my breast cancer dx my vitamin D really dropped, along with sodium and calcium. During this time my hair stylist started noticing my hair not growing at its usual rate. Very informative ❤️
Thanks for the comprehensive videos regarding hair loss. Your first video related to the Deva Curl controversy was the first thing that alerted me to that being a possible issue. I have tried an anti-dandruff shampoo a few times since that initial video and have noticed less shedding. I personally believe my alopecia has multiple causes including genetics, Deva Curl, and the Curly Girl Method. The past 12 months have been very distressing. My dermatologist directed me to really expensive solutions and I’m glad you’re here for anyone struggling with these issues. You also helped me to find products that helped me with my rosacea when the Internet tried to send me to Sephora/Ulta. I’m surprised it wasn’t obvious to me that the best skin care is affordable and can be found anywhere health care products are sold.
Amy Reich , what skincare worked well for your rosacea, struggling to find a moisturizer that doesnt make me red or get those awful itchy bumps. Thanks!
Lynne Burrell I use the Cerave Hydrating face wash and their regular moisturizer. Dr. Dray has lots of content available on rosacea. Remember there are three main types. I don’t have trouble with bumps. I also have Soolantra. It’s covered by my insurance with a $25 copay.
I'm hoping my RA test comes back ok. Already have hypothyroid. . That's part of auto immune diseases...btw.. I lost hair during menopause... Then after pancreatitis and chemo... Now medications for Afib making it fall. I take collagen to help.. With Vitamin C and Hyluronic Acid. You'll get results with this combo. Makes it work better.
This is very informative! Thank you for doing this video! Just like you said, there is so much to consider when suffering from hair loss. I have learned so much this past year while dealing with TE. I lost 50% of my hair!😢 Hair loss is so stressful & so devastating! Hopefully, my hair will grow back. I’m no longer shedding crazy amounts of hair. I sure have done all the blood tests, seen several doctors, addressed the vitamin deficiencies, digestion issues, scalp issues, switched to organic hair products, and I’m also doing the hair laser therapy. We’ll see what happens...🙏
I went through a major hair loss period after a prolonged trauma 2 1/2 years ago and I’m still waiting for it to come back fully. I lost over a third of my hair and had to cut it super short 😞
My dad had oral cancer, and had chemo and radiation on his face as part of his treatment. The radiation totally stopped the hair on his face from growing. The hair on his head was white as snow when he started, and it grew back in darker. It's like a dark grey now. They told us sometimes color and texture changes after chemo, but it was still surprising! :)
I read somewhere that humans have shedding “seasons” during summer and winter - is that true? I personally have shed a lot of hair during November and December on several occasions, but I don’t know if it was due to something else.
I lost all the hair in my body 15 years ago. The worst form of alopecia, called Alopecia Universalis. You live with it but NEVER get used to it. Devastating. :-(
Thank you Dr.Dray for explaining all the different causes of hair loss. I knew some of them but was surprised to learn about hair loss if you suffer from Dandruff.
Absolutely! I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism and I think the medication has made my hair start to fall out. . ...because this wasn't a issue until the 2nd week on the medication.
Thanks for this! In my case turns out I had an iron deficiency that was also effecting my health so I’m on a prescription for iron! I’m not losing as much as I was prior
My scalp goes through periods of feeling really itchy and inflamed and I can't help but intensely scratch. No dandruff or anything visible on the scalp but i notice after it calms down, my hair falls and density is 30% of what I had.
I am slightly vitamin D deficient. I have PCOS and Hashimotos-- always thought it was those two. Got on the right BC, and the right medication for Hashis (after years of trying different med amounts), and no progress on hair. Started taking 1000 IU daily of vitamin D as prescribed by my endocrinologist-- and BOOM. Full head of hair after about 4 months.
I'm iron deficient. I've been this way for years. I've started eating more iron rich foods, supplements, and a multivitamin. I'm on the very low side. I also take a HBP and I take an anti-depressant.
U know some who have iron deficiency can have depression and also I was depressed once and I prayed continuously I knew that suicide was not an option so I did my research and found magnesium chelate b12 vitamins or b50 and drinking turmeric tea that gave me immediate relief. It took me two years with this treatment but I am free from depression. Also I took something called Nutrophos
I went to a few dermatologists when telogen effluvian started for me last year. All blood tests were normal and I was on no medications. I had stopped birth control about 4months before and noticed it and asked if this was the cause, and they kind of shrugged it off. Thank goodness a dermatologist finally agreed this was a possible cause
@@Ghanini kind of. It hasn't so much grown back as the excess hair loss has stopped. It's been well over a year, but my hair thickness is nothing like it used to be
It's incredible that Vit D isn't affected by sunscreen and also that it contributes to hair loss. Mine has been super low for at least 90 days and it may be a factor or the main factor in the hair loss. I'm on a super prescription now for Vit D, but it was not well controlled in 2019. Now I am motivated to really stay on top of that! It's such a small thing, but no one wants their hair to vanish! I really appreciate you sharing this information.
What about topical tretinoin? I see a lot of women asking if anyone else is suffering hair thinning since using tretinoin and many are saying yes. Is there a correlation?
Hi Dr. Dray, I’m really happy to have found your channel! I’m addicted to your videos!! Thanks. I have a quick question: In the case of a hair loss due to stopping and beginning birth control pills in a small period of time, like 3 months... does the hair grow back to its normal growth rate and stop falling after a while? Or is that a permanent hair loss?
Very good information for your followers. As a nurse for 45+ years I appreciate your knowledge which is based on Scientific research and knowledge. So many people are trying to “self diagnose” due to wide spread access to the internet. This can be dangerous because there are so many different causes for whatever problem a person is experiencing. A thorough examination, history and at times numerous tests are required to make an accurate diagnosis.
I am wondering the same thing. I started topical Tretinoin about a year ago and that’s when my hair shedding began. It has slowed down but is still shedding more than usual.
My hair loss is genetic and I am beyond depressed because of it. It started about 5 years ago but now I cannot even wear my hair open. I always have to wear a bun because even if I wear a ponytail you could tell that there are only a few strands of hair left. A few months ago I needed to start putting eyeshadow or dark powder on my scalp since you can see it through on the top of my head. I just feel so ugly and everytime I see old photos like my profile picture I could just cry.
I feel you.😥 Please try bovine collagen AND Biotin supplements. My extreme hair shedding has been controlled to some extent, remaining hair thickens as well.

will you do a Covid hair loss video? I'm dealing with it now severely and I do notice its all over the Internet. I would love to know your thoughts. love your channel.
I would be interested in this as well as there’s studies showing copper is a huge component of hair follicle coloration as well as a certain amino acid being capable of reducing or even reversing grey hair!
I'm 48 and just finding out that I have PCOS. My HRT doctor says that the decline in Estrogen in Peri and Meno means the high DHEA can mean the Androgens have *more impact*, than when we had higher Estrogen earlier in life. Hormone influences apparently impact based on their Ratios and Balances. Kind of like a One-Sided Teeter-totter... And DHEA can convert into Testosterone which then converts to DHT (the hair loss triggering Androgen). I also had hair loss with Prednisone Treatment. Not sure how much was Prednisone and how much was having Pancolitis (IBD can take over all 6 feet of colon).
My hairs not falling out and all the points you made are valuable. My question is are drugstore shampoos and conditioners good for scalp and hair? My stylist keeps telling me it’s all garbage & I do read ingredients so I’m aware of what I’m using. Your thoughts as a dermatologist please.
Hi Dr. Dray, on the comment about hair processing........................ can you shed light on what coloring does to the hair? does it cause breakage or loss?
@@felicityishome8460 it might not, I didnt notice any shedding untill I moved to the max oral dose. So if you're taking a light dose, maybeeee you wont have to worry about it! As long as you take some folic acid or folate (ask ur dr) 💕

Dr. Dray-Will you do an episode ion how to reduce scarring after a shave biopsy? I had a shave biopsy on an irregular mole in a prominent spot on my arm. Thank you!
Thank you- I had some hair loss at menopause, but now, years later, it’s thinning again. Lots of ideas in this video to bring up when I go for my yearly check up.
It's so odd how our bodies react two things. I had a major surgery requiring an unexpected blood transfusion years ago and once I healed my hair started growing like never before and was really dense. Go figure!
Allergy to an ingredient in hair dye, PPD, is fairly common, which I discovered a while back. My dermatologist first misdiagnosed me with genetic hair issues. So I had kind of given up, but I switched for other reasons from permanent hair dye to demipermanent (uses alternate chemical to PPD, but some people will eventually develop allergy to this too...) Turned out my hair totally grew in and the problem was the dye allergy according to the dermatologist and she apologized for missing this earlier.
Does an IUD with progesterone cause this? I’m asking because it’s said to be localized hormones rather than systemic but I’ve noticed other side effects.
This video was so helpful! My hair has been shedding for over a month since I started birth control about 4 months ago. I think I've lost about 30-50% of my hair. I'm starting minoxidil and changed to a low-androgen progestin pill. I've watched some of your other videos about supplements and was wondering what supplements are best to use specifically for this cause of hair loss. Please let me know if you can help!
Thank you for this video! I am 24 years old and my hair has been thinning over the past two years due to genetics as well as chronic stress and anxiety. I just recently started 5% minoxidil, PRP injections, and the irestore laser. I have been on Spironolactone for two years and on a low androgenic birth control (ortho tri cyclen) for about 7 years. Do you think with stress management and continuation of the three treatments mentioned that I can prevent further thinning as I age? Or will genetics over power everything and will the hair loss be inevitable?
Can you make a video about does peppermint oil, burdock oil or castor really can help with regrow the hair ? I have really bad hair loss and nothing can help or stop this hair fall 🥺
Hi Dr. Dray is Topiramate linked to hair loss? I've been diagnosed with androgenetic alopecia but my dermatologist tells me it has nothing to do with the topiramate although I noticed a loss in volume a few months since I started it. Very nice and complete video on hair loss! Thank you
Im a natural blonde. I have very low vitamin D and am on supplements. I also am on keto and have lost 39 #. I also recently started remicaid for RA. I guess it could be any of the above. Thanks for sharing! Love all of your information 💜💜💜
Thanks for the great review. I have Crohn's and am on prednisone in and off plus a powerful immunosuppressant, plus on a heavy dose of anti-depressants. No wonder I have hair thinning! It's been going on for about ten years, so I've kind of accepted it. When I go out I wear a good medical wig (actually looks better than my hair ever could!)...about the house I don't care. I went through a major hair loss period after a prolonged trauma 2 1/2 years ago and I’m still waiting for it to come back fully. I lost over a third of my hair and had to cut it super short 😞
Hii. Have you good hair growth since this. Im losing mine!!!
You’re just a walking medical encyclopedia! I love watching you…you’re full of great information! Thank you
My dad had oral cancer, and had chemo and radiation on his face as part of his treatment. The radiation totally stopped the hair on his face from growing. The hair on his head was white as snow when he started, and it grew back in darker. It's like a dark grey now. They told us sometimes color and texture changes after chemo, but it was still surprising! :)
Is he doing better now? Sending love and prayers to you and your father! ❤️🙏
I read somewhere that humans have shedding “seasons” during summer and winter - is that true? I personally have shed a lot of hair during November and December on several occasions, but I don’t know if it was due to something else.
Eating disorders can cause hair loss.

I lost all the hair in my body 15 years ago. The worst form of alopecia, called Alopecia Universalis. You live with it but NEVER get used to it. Devastating. :-(
I’m so sorry, I have the androgenic and I’m finding that horrific . You look beautiful x
Thank you Dr.Dray for explaining all the different causes of hair loss. I knew some
of them but was surprised to learn about hair loss if you suffer from Dandruff.
Diane Stuart thanks for watching 💙

Have you found a solution for any of this? I have this too!

Can anyone buy/get those 1000 ui vitamins d and what’s the difference between normal vitamin d
@@zkenar yes, they have vit D3 at the grocery store!
Did you have androgenic alopecia? PCOS making you produce excess testosterone can trigger this.

Dr Dray do you recommend a hair clarifying shampoo?
What are your thoughts on purple shampoo's and conditioner's for blonde and Grey hair?
It's incredible that Vit D isn't affected by sunscreen and also that it contributes to hair loss. Mine has been super low for at least 90 days and it may be a factor or the main factor in the hair loss. I'm on a super prescription now for Vit D, but it was not well controlled in 2019. Now I am motivated to really stay on top of that! It's such a small thing, but no one wants their hair to vanish! I really appreciate you sharing this information.
how many units per day did you need to take? 2000?
What about topical tretinoin? I see a lot of women asking if anyone else is suffering hair thinning since using tretinoin and many are saying yes. Is there a correlation?
Hi Dr. Dray, I’m really happy to have found your channel! I’m addicted to your videos!! Thanks. I have a quick question: In the case of a hair loss due to stopping and beginning birth control pills in a small period of time, like 3 months... does the hair grow back to its normal growth rate and stop falling after a while? Or is that a permanent hair loss?
Once again!! You are awesome for including all hair types and textures!! Thanks so much!!
How does trichotillomania affect hair regrowth?
Very good information for your followers. As a nurse for 45+ years I appreciate your knowledge which is based on Scientific research and knowledge. So many people are trying to “self diagnose” due to wide spread access to the internet. This can be dangerous because there are so many different causes for whatever problem a person is experiencing. A thorough examination, history and at times numerous tests are required to make an accurate diagnosis.
Exactly.
Just starting the video but someone just told me that my recent use of Tretinoin can be linked to my hair loss right now. Is there a link at all?

Hey Dr Gray, I know this comment is late to the game but what are your thoughts on DHT Blockers?
Could you please do a video on perifollicular pigmentation? 😊

I know you said starting antidepressants cause hair loss but what about stopping antidepressants? I lost around 50% of my hair when I stopped my medication?? Any advice please
yes stopping medication will cause hair loss. it is temporary though and your body will adjust to not being on the medication
If you stop too abruptly your body may be stressed as a result so it causes hair loss
I was one person who commented on the Accutane video about it since I was taking it. It is really nice to hear you mention that. Nice video. Thank you!

Hey Dr. Dray -- can certain medications prevent a telogen effluvium from happening after surgery or a serious illness?

Hi Dr Dray. Thank you so much. Does colouring cause hair damage? Thank you!
thanks for watching! yes, it damages the hair a lot

You shouldn't have gone through using minoxidil right away, I'm pretty sure you shedded more than you'd done before
Thank you for this video!
