I was looking at getting a DS Lite and decided to give DK Oldies a try.... Saw they were $140 and said yeah screw that, picked one up off craigslist for $40 in fine shape.
I've been waiting for a DS video! I honestly bet they might have just been afraid to tear the ribbon cable for the top screen.

I bought a white one unbowed but in absolute mint condition for around $31 a few years ago and it works perfectly. I bought it from a store called cash converters here in the uk.
A cosmetically flawed Ds from DKoldies would be a DS lite that the bottom screen is cracked and the top screen is ripped off and the bumpers are destroyed and the d pad is non functional and the stylus is broken in -5/8 and they will still charge you $5000 and a crappy used fake charger that doesn’t work half of the times.

Easily the hinge/shell around the hinge. While the DS Lite hinge is miles better than the NTR-001, it's still is no match for the tenacity of children. Lol
If you’re wondering who is buying DS lites from them for $130? It’s people on Facebook. Just check the comment section on my Facebook videos and you’ll see what I mean 😂
My local flea market/antique mall has a seller with a large video game booth and sells DS Lites for $50 with cables, and $60 for open but with box and items.
I’ll probably order something else from them in a few months to see if they’ve changed anything. To see if any of the “changes” they’ve made recently actually stick or if they’re just a phase
I’ve been refurbishing ds lites as a hobby for about 5 years now, i clean my shells in water and soap and the water indicator gets triggered from the cleaning. the biggest test to see if it’s been cleaned inside is removing the stylus holder. Usually there’s a layer of dirt underneath.

I wouldn't put too much stock in those water-damage indicators. They're more useful as a tool for companies to deny a warranty-covered repair than to actually indicate the truth.

Replace a screen sucks. I recommend if you do replace the top screen roll the ribbon cable then tap it so it will not unroll when passing through the top part hinge than remove the tap and slide it into the bottom case and here is a tip buy new screens as a set and a new touch panel. I got lucky with just a new top screen and touch panel. But the bottom screen was not yellowing at all. Now I damaged the top screen and touch panel when I replaced the yellowing white shell with a beautiful new shell. Now I got a DSi so I’m going to replace its shell with a new one and I got it with screen issues but it was cheap but after I’m done it should be around $150 all in. And I’m going to do a led mod I hope and a usb c charging definitely. I have so far a ds, dsi, 3ds and new 3ds so far and the 3ds looks like it’s have a charger port issue so I’m going to try a usb c mod with a re shell or custom work on the old shell to cover the old charger port.
