I think I'd actually cry if I saw someone carefully restore my childhood DS lite like you did here. The amount of respect and care you show for it is just beautiful.
It hurt a bit to watch the stickers get removed but it was a necessary step to get it as clean as you did. Great video overall and im glad it was still able to be used. Look forward to the next video!
I like that you genuinely said "this unit works, inside is perfect, it's only dirty": sometimes videos say that the console is faulty and they just replace the battery and clean and call it a restoration, while i appreciate the effort on replacing buttons, soldering, doing electronics reparations, so you being authentic and realistic about this cleaning is the most hearthwarming thing.
Someone kid was so happy to get that DS when it was new, it's clearly served them well and although they have abandoned it in its time of need, it's nice to see someone else taking care of it and giving it a second life
As a DS lite lover myself this is absolutely incredible to see, not replacing the shell to keep it authentic is great. I feel like some of the wear on these systems gives them a personality so I prefer to keep some imperfections if the device still functions fine. Love the channel, keep it up.
Fully agree! I prefer to clean my devices up as spotless as possible, maybe fix the yellowed plastic as well and replace things like the displays or worn buttons - but the worn, scratched, grazed housings are part of the story and tells you right away that someone carried this in their bag or pocket every day for years and loved it the whole time. Dirt and broken parts can be replaced, but the patina is awesome
i am a firm believer that items have the tiniest bit of soul in them, and the care you've given the item probably made the ds super happy. i wish this is the type of restoration that gets millions of views. as always, love your stuff elliot!
I love the idea of maintaining patina on older handhelds. It's something that's been popular with a segment of the vintage car restoration community for a while now. I think it's rad! You can see the age and the love the unit received. It's also why I always love shopping for used books, with their worn covers and creased binding. Excellent video, man.
I got my start cleaning/repairing video game stuff with DS Lites. I think they're a beautiful console and probably one of the best Nintendo has ever designed. Great job with this restoration. It's all about giving overlooked items a second chance - always a satisfying feeling.
Honestly years ago the Restoration Videos are why I fell in love with this channel. There is Just something satisfying about restoration videos. I also can't believe that DS was actually the White DS Lite 2k23
Ive never watched any videos like this, but i really enjoy the way you enjoy that someone has made great memories with this Nintendo DS. And this motivates me to open up my Nintendo and clean it. And also repair the first one i got as a kid, which i broke... sadly.
White DS lite 2k23, awesome job on this restoration! As perfect as it can get without a full shell swap, love it. Also great job on the video itself as always.
I really like this video as you still relatively kept its soul. I see so many other restorations that make it soulless, make it look like it’s brand new and never been used, I feel like tiny imperfections just make the console so much nicer as it shows memories were made and fun was had. This doesn’t just look like a brand new console it looks like a used console that someone cherished and cleaned regularly
First timer here. Randomly showed up on my suggested. I would like to say that your passion for this shows and it’s incredible to listen to, & especially watch. I love all video game consoles, and I love that you view it as another life. Someone made so many memories with that & finally decided to let it go. They would be so happy and so proud, it’s the best thing you can ask for. Keep it up, I’m definitely watching more. Easiest subscription of my life!
Great job! The DSL was such a great system and the game library is amazing too. It makes me happy to see another one saved from the landfill. With an EZflash you can even play GB and GBC games on it.
Extremely impressive work! The final product looks totally worth using, very clean, looks like it works perfectly. Well done! Never would've expected it to clean up so well, just goes to show your skill and attention to detail. Can't wait for the next one!
Wow that White DS Lite 2K23 came out beautifully! Love seeing that! Thanks to you I started fixing up and restoring game consoles, you and My Mate Vince, so thank you for the work you do, and the amazing and fun content you make for all of us!
This video was long but so satisfying and good to watch!!! The amount of care, mastercraft and respect put into this unit is crazy!!! I also like the sticker on the back!!! The whole console turned up so gorgeous compared to how it was it's awesome!!! All while retaining precious traces of it's past!!! I just love it!!! Keep it up!!! ❤
This whole video I was just imagining that this was my white Nintendo DS that I had as a kid. I hope wherever it is now it's being shown even a fraction as much care as Elliot gave this one
Always fun to watch someone breathe new life into an old device, when I was younger, had myself a black ds lite but haven't played it in years. I wish I could find it again and play all the games I used to play.
What a turnaround! It's nice to see other people who take pride in bringing old electronics back to life, and the bigger the disaster the more satisfying the turnaround when cleaned.
Love it Dude, there isn't much that's more satisfying than seeing an old console get a new lease on life. I started buying lots of used handhelds from Japan a few years ago and pull one out to fix/restore when I'm bored or need a pick me up. It's so satisfying when the finished product comes out like yours just did 👍 cheers Elliot ✌️
You have absolutely brought life back to that console!! I almost wish I could barter with you to buy it. I absolutely adore that you left some parts of it how it had been before cleaning, like the grid from the stickers, it just gives it so much more personality and is such a fun reminder of the times we had with these systems as kids!! You’re awesome dude!!
Beautiful restoration! I tried swapping out the shell and ended up breaking some things, gave up and now it just sits in a drawer mocking me. Modding a GBC and GBA SP are so easy in comparison but the DS Lite was a nightmare for me.
I somehow wandered into console restoration videos from furniture restoration ones, and I gotta say I really love and appreciate your take on this. My fav furniture videos were ones where they didn’t just paint over the flaws, but rather spent time and effort cleaning and repairing the original piece. While often this resulted in the piece not looking 100% new, that wasn't the point. The point was to give the piece a new lease on life for future generations to enjoy, while not losing all if it's wonderful history. I'd say you succeeded here!
The respect and love you show for these consoles is so wonderful. I hope my old consoles I had to sell when I was broke find their way to you when they need you. It would make their machine spirits so happy to be so well treated. I forgot the comment you asked us to make if we got to the end, I think it was white ds 23 2k.hopefully it's close enough that you know your work was appreciated.
This was a nice video. I always enjoy watching genuine restoration videos, and just getting to see all of the components and fantastic engineering that goes into these products, especially this White DS Lite 2K23
As I always say, RIP to those stickers Seeing them get removed is always a buzzkill because now the biggest sign of the original owner's love is completely lost I get why they're removed but still
Ok, I'm glad I'm not the only one bothered by this. Yes, the system is much cleaner, but those stickers in their worn state show how much love this system got by its original owner and I think a lot of character was lost scraping them off
I loved seeing the White DS Lite 2k23 slowly get cleaner and cleaner, but still showing it was throughly loved and worn, absolutely love this channel and all that you do
This was my first handheld I had as a kid, it was my sisters cousins old device they didn’t use, I still have it but it’s not in the best shape unfortunately. I hope to do something like this one day and bring it back to its glory days!
0:32 This is refreshing to hear, to be honest. When I was younger I lived in the countryside, couldn’t get a job (too rural) and didn’t even have consistent internet access. So my handhelds were all I really had, and they got BEAT UP (not unlike this one). It wasn’t for a lack of love for them, though, it was actually FROM a love for them and consistent (relentless) use. It’s nice to hear that acknowledged rather than defaulting to “Ughhhh, look what this person did to this console!”
Wow, absolutely impressive transformation! Thank you for giving this console new life. It turned out gorgeous, you removed so much of that yellowing it seriously looks like new.
This is the most viscerally satisfying process to watch. My first DS was this same color and model, so this brings back a lot of memories. Also, "White DS Lite 2K 23."
love how caring you are for the White DS lite 2K32. If you just showed me the before and after pictures I'd say that they're different consoles, you did an extremely impressive restoration
Beautiful! A big like for this video. A true and carefully restoration. Also I like that you kept the original parts and don't rush to change the case with a third part chinese case that usually doesn't fit well.
This is lovely, I have a black DS lite that I own since launch. It's not as dirty as this one because it's black, but i was used to the extreme and so many of my good memories come from this small device. I bought a almost brand new one for my collection, but I'll keep my og one forever
Got recommended this video today, my birthday, when I finally retired my over 7-year-old (I think) 2ds for a refurbished 3ds. I'm keeping my old 2ds to give to my boyfriend, and probably will use it for companion/trading games like Pokémon, but I appreciate watching you restore this extremely loved ds. I hope that one day my old 2ds will fall into hands like yours and be given new life ❤
I love how you made sure it retained that "aged but clean" look. It still looks old and used, but its perfectly clean and will last many more years with proper care
Amazing video! I watched it in prep for restoring my childhood ds lite. It was white and while I won’t be keeping the original shell (I want to give it some umpf and make it absolutely stunning and unique) this video was super inspiring!!! Videos like this just touch my soul!❤
I clicked on this one the moment i saw it because my first DS was a white DS lite. Its also seen equally rough use and pretty much every part of it shows that. It has a failed hinge, dead pixels on both screens, non working L and R buttons and ofc its sinilarly grimy on the outside. Ive considered restoring it as well but ive always thought thay with just how many things I'd have to replace it might be a bit of a Ship of Theseus situation. Then you made this video and now I can live vicariously through it and see what my DS lite's restoration would look like
Please do more videos like this. I just love it so much; I've watched it multible times. I like how much space you give everything. I don't ususlaly like ASMR because they cut so quick that any sound doesn't have a chance to resonate. But, you time everything so well that I feel like I am in a forest on a fall day with nothing but the trees making noise. I also love the voice over more than in front of the camera talking about whatever. If you made more like this I would make a playlist and watch it on repeat.
I got a shell replacement from Zedlabz and I’m excited to switch. The DS Lite I have is in pretty great condition, but I don’t have any systems with green. I wish I had another DS Lite that was scratched/dinged up to work on instead, but this is the only one I have. Thank you for the great video.
Back in 2019 I purchased a NEW 3DS XL off of FB Marketplace, even in those 3 years it was owned it was loved beyond belief, the screens are immaculate , but it genuinely looks like it was used to deflect a few knife lunges, pulled it back out of storage last week to finally homebrew it and I have fallen in love again, hence how I made it here, I had both a white and then a red DS as a kid and it's incredible to see you show such love to an old device like this, great video!
This was fantastic! I love the DS line, favourite console. It was really awesome seeing one getting restored, super interesting as well! One day when my DS is in disrepair I hope people like you are still around to maybe renew its life
Really nice job. I retrobrite'd the SD flap on my Wii several months ago as it had turned an off-shade of yellow. It went back to brilliant white and I was chuffed. - 4 weeks later, it returned to it's yellow colour.
There really is something magnificent seeing a DS being worn down to an extreme degree by love, to then be restored to its former glory by love as well.
I loved this video! The DS Lite is my favourite console (I'm a collector) and I did something similar several times, mostly in order to trying to fix a broken screen or the entire motherboard. I know how difficult is to disassemble (and riassemble) everything so congrats!! More you did a very good job cleaning everything. For sure I'm going to use the magic sponge or the polish in the future ☺️
I think the yellowest part being the hinge is because it's the side that has the LEDs, which emit a little bit of heat directly in contact with the plastic. The heat makes the plastic yellow, kinda like our silicone phonecases nowadays, they're essentially yellow where we put our warm hands.
White DS Lite 2K23 Man, I love this thing. I bought a VERY used GBA SP because I liked the fact that it was so loved so I understand your adoration for consoles like this.
I recently grabbed a cheap jpn white ds lite with a broken hinge to refurb. I was orignally just gonna do a shell swap, but this showed up in my recommended the day that ds came in, and after seeing the final result I ended up deciding to also refurb the shell rather than fully reshell. I even had a first go at wet sanding and polishing the top plastic, and it now looks minty af, and looks and feels far better than any third party shell would
White DS Lite 2K23! I know this a month out, but I just found your channel and I am hooked! This restoration was a thing of beauty! Made e wish I still had my old white DS Lite ..
Hey, I just wanted to leave another comment to say: I'm really happy you started uploading again! This was the first video of yours I ever saw and it put me on a crazy trajectory. I'm the eldest of 4 sibling (but we like to say 8 because we grew up with our cousins close by). After I saw this, I just knew I couldn't just sit by and let our collective DS/3DS collection rot. So I started watching a ton more of your videos, and they helped me fix: - my brother's DSi (I had to put those ribbon cables through the hinge 3 times 🤧) - my cousin's 3DS (somehow.. the inside of the charging port was just... *gone*. and no gold contacts to be used with the cradle) - my *other* cousin's 3DS (broken speaker cable! Oh God.. it took 24 hours...) - my sister's 2DS xl (bricked and dodgy cartridge slot. Although it was definitely more of a software one) - and 50% fixed my other *other* cousin's DS Lite. Somehow, this thing has given me the most trouble EVER. It at least turns on, which is an improvement from before, but still pretty unusable. But all this to say, in the last 3 months, I learned how to solder, I learned that I *CAN* put a ribbon cable through a DS hinge pretty quickly, and I learned the hard way on how to be gentle when doing repairs. I also learned - hinges are a huge pain.... I have a huge amount of respect for you and your channel! And as soon as I completely finish fixing the last broken DS Lite I have, I absolutely wanna do more, and it's thanks to you! Yesterday, for the first time in over 10 years (probably closer to 15), we got to play 6 player Mario Kart! And again, that's thanks to you! (Almost) all the DS's have a new lease of life, and everyone's getting the best outta them. Now it's just this beast left (twitter.com/2quidV/status/1745071081050759285 )... Oh, also, white DS Lite 2k23!
Now this is a teardown and restoration process. I'm so glad you did this and I am happy that you are one of the people that inspire me to take on retro console/handheld repairing (depending on which ones) where I live at.
I think I'd actually cry if I saw someone carefully restore my childhood DS lite like you did here. The amount of respect and care you show for it is just beautiful.
Same 😭
It hurt a bit to watch the stickers get removed but it was a necessary step to get it as clean as you did. Great video overall and im glad it was still able to be used. Look forward to the next video!
we need more restoration videos like this
He's gonna give us more, He has to, Right Elliot 😶🌫️
@@HapyXDu got it!!
I agree
@TheRetroFuture why does the ds lite look my ds lire has dirt in the edges the corners are yellow and it has stickers (._.)
I restore tons of these. Maybe I should make videos
0ppllllpllll
Your love for the console is contagious
The nostalgia about this console ❤️
So was the console before it was cleaned. :3
So true
Yesssss
Yeah after watching a couple of his DS vids I grabbed out my 3DS to play some Pokemon.
Someone kid was so happy to get that DS when it was new, it's clearly served them well and although they have abandoned it in its time of need, it's nice to see someone else taking care of it and giving it a second life

The Adeptus Mechanicus would welcome you with open arms
LOVE seeing something old and battered ACTUALLY be revamped and cleaned up as opposed to simply swapped out or gutted for parts
Wow! This ds lite was probably loved so much by some japanese kid back in the day, its amazing to see you give another life to this ds lite :D
On DSi's it was nice to see the animations that previous users had made in flipnote, some of them were pretty good too.
lol i read japanese black kid, had to re read that...
I got my start cleaning/repairing video game stuff with DS Lites. I think they're a beautiful console and probably one of the best Nintendo has ever designed. Great job with this restoration. It's all about giving overlooked items a second chance - always a satisfying feeling.
You showed that well-loved DS a lot of love yourself. I can't imagine putting that much work into it and not wanting to use it all the time.
As someone with a self-taught career in electronics, it's been really cool to watch your progression.

This doesn’t just look like a brand new console it looks like a used console that someone cherished and cleaned regularly
Unlimited respect for the work and honesty in your videos. This was so much more engaging than any of the fake restorations. Cheers
First timer here. Randomly showed up on my suggested. I would like to say that your passion for this shows and it’s incredible to listen to, & especially watch.
Can't wait for the next one!
we need a playlist with all of your restorations i wanna watch them all they are satisfying
Wow that White DS Lite 2K23 came out beautifully! Love seeing that! Thanks to you I started fixing up and restoring game consoles, you and My Mate Vince, so thank you for the work you do, and the amazing and fun content you make for all of us!

I love the way you think... The way you speak about how the DS was loved so much and that someone created memories on it is really nice.
A not fake restauration video! Nice 😊
It's so satisfying to watch - thank you!
White DS lite 2k23!
Great video! I liked how you actually talked instead of quietly narrating!! 10/10 restoration and video!
What a great video! Love seeing it looking so pristine while still keeping all of the love the original had.
Great restoration, can’t wait for more.

This was wonderful to watch it’s so heartwarming to see someone’s childhood brought back to life
(Also white DS Lite 2K23)
i’ve really been loving collecting ds related stuff whether that’s consoles, games, accessories. seeing well loved consoles just makes me happy :)
We really enjoy your videos. Keep making more like this one!!!
This is more satifying than watching the fake restoration videos. The fake ones are too painful to watch.
Wow, it turned out amazing! I loved the plastic polish you added at the end, it really made it shine.
White DS Lite 2k23!
Beautiful restoration! I tried swapping out the shell and ended up breaking some things, gave up and now it just sits in a drawer mocking me. Modding a GBC and GBA SP are so easy in comparison but the DS Lite was a nightmare for me.

Wonderful stuff, although a shame that the stickers had to go, I think they added so much personality, life and history to that little machine.
I like how this guy calls out bs. I'm gonna try n do something similar but with new buttons and new shell.
Can I send my DS to you to get refurbished? I was basically scammed on EBay. They sent me a dirty DS and the thing stopped working 2 months later
Damn, he hearted you and then left you on read 😂
The respect and love you show for these consoles is so wonderful. I hope my old consoles I had to sell when I was broke find their way to you when they need you. It would make their machine spirits so happy to be so well treated. I forgot the comment you asked us to make if we got to the end, I think it was white ds 23 2k.hopefully it's close enough that you know your work was appreciated.
Thought I'd just point out the sick move here 1:30
This was a nice video. I always enjoy watching genuine restoration videos, and just getting to see all of the components and fantastic engineering that goes into these products, especially this White DS Lite 2K23
Better than the fakes
I need to say that this is not 100% perfect, it’s 200% perfect. Amazing job. Keep it up
As I always say, RIP to those stickers
Seeing them get removed is always a buzzkill because now the biggest sign of the original owner's love is completely lost
I get why they're removed but still
Ok, I'm glad I'm not the only one bothered by this. Yes, the system is much cleaner, but those stickers in their worn state show how much love this system got by its original owner and I think a lot of character was lost scraping them off
at least they will always exist in this video as long as YT is around.
My jaw hit the ground 😮 this cleaning was INSANE!!!
15:44 that moment when you opened the ds after reasembled it was truly satisfiying
Isn’t ur sisters cousin ur cousin?

I really respect you for not replacing the shell, it's the first I see someone doing that and believe more people need to do it!
Wow, absolutely impressive transformation! Thank you for giving this console new life. It turned out gorgeous, you removed so much of that yellowing it seriously looks like new.
Absolutely fantastic. The transformation is insane. Been following for a long time, never ceases to amaze.
Your love for the console is contagious. i love how you can actually change the language unlike other consoles..
FINALLY! A video of somebody who's NOT fake-rusting his console to 'restore' it :) ACTUAL restoration!
*White DS Lite 2K23* FANTASTIC RESTORATION!! 🙌🙌🙌
The Journey from start to finish was fantastic!
Got recommended this video today, my birthday, when I finally retired my over 7-year-old (I think) 2ds for a refurbished 3ds. Its very nice to see someone who appreciates the beauty of these little things
Fantastic video, thanks for taking such care. The DS line of handhelds are precious to so many
i’m so gentle with my gaming consoles / accessories now as an adult but i was so rough on my gameboy and DS over all the years
I love how you made sure it retained that "aged but clean" look. It still looks old and used, but its perfectly clean and will last many more years with proper care
14:38 the shoulder buttons design is truly a work of art. white ds light 2k23!
Amazing video! I watched it in prep for restoring my childhood ds lite. It was white and while I won’t be keeping the original shell (I want to give it some umpf and make it absolutely stunning and unique) this video was super inspiring!!! Videos like this just touch my soul!❤
This came out amazing, I love how you’re always trying to save old consoles
White DS Lite 2k23... i love these videos. Bringing back a nostalgic piece of hardware back to life
I clicked on this one the moment i saw it because my first DS was a white DS lite. Its also seen equally rough use and pretty much every part of it shows that.

Zedlabz and I’m excited to switch. The DS Lite I have is in pretty great condition, but I don’t have any systems with green. I wish I had another DS Lite that was scratched/dinged up to work on instead, but this is the only one I have. Thank you for the great video.
I didn’t know there was fake restoration videos
Amazing, it’s truly a joy to see you work.
I need more of this content! It is so relaxing and feels so satisficing to see all the dirt getting wiped away!
White DS lite 2k23!!
Gorgeous work. That was (and will be) well loved ❤
The hinge which does all of the hinge stuff 🤣
Love that you cleaned the shell to reuse it. I would have just put a new one on
these videos relax me so much in stressed times, honestly thank you. makes me so happy to see a well loved console brought back to glory :)
There really is something magnificent seeing a DS being worn down to an extreme degree by love, to then be restored to its former glory by love as well.
You've inspired me to perform console repair and refurbishing and restoration everything I know is from you and couldn't thank you enough
White DS Lite 2K23 looks great! You did an amazing restoration job. Bravo
sometimes i delay watching your videos a couple of days until i need something nice and gentle to watch.
"light scratches at level 2 and deeper grooves at level 3"
Keep em battle scars. This Ds lite went through the wars of your playtime bro. Nice piece of Nostalgia. Brings Back Memories..
White DS Lite 2K23
Man, I love this thing.
I even had a first go at wet sanding and polishing the top plastic, and it now looks minty af, and looks and feels far better than any third party shell would
Incredible to watch. I feel nostalgic about this specific DS Lite and it isn't even mine!
So I started watching a ton more of your videos, and they helped me fix:
- my brother's DSi (I had to put those ribbon cables through the hinge 3 times 🤧)
- my cousin's 3DS (somehow.. the inside of the charging port was just... *gone*. and no gold contacts to be used with the cradle)
- my *other* cousin's 3DS (broken speaker cable! Oh God.. it took 24 hours...)
- my sister's 2DS xl (bricked and dodgy cartridge slot. Although it was definitely more of a software one)
- and 50% fixed my other *other* cousin's DS Lite.
