The funny thing about the guide describing HP as a measure of how "tired" a Pokemon is - is that's it's correct! Canonically, a fainted Pokemon isn't actually knocked out, they're declared too exhausted to battle and are taken out of the fight to prevent permanent damage. This is why fainted Pokemon can still use field HMs - they're not unconscious.

I actually enjoyed pokemon y a lot even tho I never finished the game lol. This was my first 3ds game I bought with the system, and for some reason my parents wouldn't let me play it till night. I had to go outside to the park to excercise first. I eventually got to playing it and I was shocked how good (at the time) the graphics looked for a pokemon game
Funnily enough, XY was the first Pokémon game I truly despised for how it's designed. Even the insultingly easy HGSS didn't make me feel so... _spiteful._ xD Only felt that same way about USUM and SwSh - only those three got me legitimately _angry._
I think they released this guide before the actual game came out? I think the only reason why some Pokémon were actually on it was bc they were featured in the trailer of the game while the other ones didn’t appear on it so they probably wanted the customer to react to new Pokémon, idk it’s just a guess tho.
X and Y are also my favourite modern Pokemon games. They're just bursting with features, beautifully animated and filled with fun Pokemon to catch and train.
I personally liked the XY games since i truly did have a lot of fun playing them but i feel like it was a game that had too many ideas so a lot of things ended up not getting the proper attention they deserved. It just feels unfinished as opposed to some other games.
What sucked was the post game, Despite having a cool looker side story, The post game legendaries kinda sucked, Especially Since that Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire Had like 30+ legendaries.
Idk about you peeps, but I always find it weird that they introduce Diantha as a movie star and not the champion. I would care a lot more about her if I knew she was the champion as opposed to just a movie star
I think they probably wanted her champion status to be a surprise?? though I do think the chrs in this game (+ the story overall) do have a lot of room for improvement writing-wise
@@rubysu9265 I hadn't thought about it like that. I guess they were trying to do something similar to Cynthia and Steven, but they were much more interesting than Diantha so it worked
The thing about Diantha’s Gardevoir may be the creators of the guide mistaking her Battle Maison Gardevoir for her Champion Gardevoir, since that Gardevoir has Hypnosis.
For X and Y, i really wish there were more backstories or information about the diff characters - especially the gym leaders and the elite four :/ they all had so much potential to have had smth a post game could’ve covered :( but other than that, oof professor sycamore 😍
there are actually a few fun tidbits from the in-game show gym freaks (you can see most of them on gym leader's bulbapedia page if you want lol)? like apparently valerie is hella buff under her clothes bc they're very heavy, but i totally agree, i love the designs of a lot of the characters and wish they explored them a little more.
The many quips about Lysandre were entertaining and I loved how you went through the entire game with that traded Farfetch'd on your team. I had no idea Gen 6 onwards even had printed guides, so an X & Y Nintended video was an appreciated surprise.

I put a lot of time into Pokémon X and Y back in the day. I still remember my teammates in X: Delphox, Blastoise, Blaziken, Sylveon, Lucario, and Xerneas (replaced Talonflame on the team). I got back into Pokémon in 2013 after a 10 year hiatus. I’ve since played all mainline games and Gens 5, 6 and 7 are my favorites.
My team was/is (i havent defeated the elite four but i have gotten all the gym badges) Greninja, Charizard (wouldve prefered Blastoise) Lucario, Bisharp, Raichu, and Garchomp. Idk if its good coverage but hey it could be worse...probably.
Gen 6 is the game that I have the most reset files on, mostly when I started trying nuzlockes, though I only ever *almost* finished them. Cant remember what my first or early teams were, but it never got old whenever I started a new file.
When I played pokemon Y my team was: Charizard, Lucario,Yveltal, Mewtwo, Espeon, Lapras, I placed my Greninja at the pokemon daycare to breed a shiny Froakie
"UA-cam comments love fossils for some reason." You're damn right we do, and these fossils are some of the best ones! You finally get a freakin' honest-to-goodness *_T-REX!_*
Yea, I agree. I personally think the story is great, and X/Y would be much better if it was followed up by Z, which would drag out the story more and make the games harder, like Platinum to D/P, or Emerald to R/S. Also, the designs for the Pokémon are fantastic.
26:00 I think that's more because of them not really being what we see as an admin. Admin usually have actual names, personalities and unique designs. The different colured hair girls (I don't know nor do I care about their names) and Xerosic serve more as traditional admins then the people who just seem like somewhat better grunts.

X and Y would actually be great games if the battles were more difficult. Also, the team Flare "admins" are actually just higher ranking members, and thus don't even have a name.
Honestly, XY are possibly my favorite pokemon games. I just had so much fun in that world, and the EXP share made it really easy to swap my team around on a whim, so I used more pokemon than I'd ever do in a normal playthrough, let alone on the first one. There's also just something about the way this game looks.
“I know youtube comments love fossils for some reason” I picked the sail fossil. We can’t use it but if I didn’t say it then everyone would ask. Actually everyone ask anyway, comments are good for the youtube algorithm
Thank you FatherSea, these are some of my favorite long form video essays on UA-cam. I love your candid writing style and how it translates into a narrative tone that would be almost awkward but ends up being entirely endearing. Keep up the good work!
X is what got me back into pokemon after being out of it since Sapphire. I didn't have a DS so I couldn't play Gen 4 or 5. But the day ORAS was announced I went out and got a 2DS preloaded with X and I liked it. I later went back and played the 4th and 5th gen games (5 is my favorite) and I've been sticking with it ever since.
I started when Gen 1 was released as a Kid Gen 2 was my peak years of being into pokemon and 2 was my last Gen until Gen 7 with All that Gen 1 and 2 nostalgia references in 7. I feel WAAY too old for Pokemon at 30
Yay, my favorite game in the series! Despite that, it's one of the few I never owned a physical strategy for, so this guide is actually all new to me, and it seems really well done, too... aside from them likely being unable to get the official source illustrations by the time the guide needed to print xD That is understandable, however, since XY was the first game to get a simultaneous international release, so they couldn't exactly borrow from any Japanese guide books or anything
My best guess is that whoever made the guide one-shot Diantha's Gardevoir on their playthrough and the guide was made assuming Gardevoir would have its 4 most recent level up moves as that is how MANY trainers' Pokemon movesets are decided.
I hope this comment goes unnoticed since I don’t really like to talk about myself. Around 2 years ago I got very ill. It was to the point that drinking water was the only thing I could do without pain. This lasted around 7-9 months. I remember being so hungry one day that I said if I eat small amounts over a long time then I won’t be in pain. I needed a long video to make sure I ate slowly and that video was one of your “playing a Pokémon game how Nintendo wanted”. I just remember the calming effect that your videos had on me. I remember seeing your video on the last few weeks that I was severely ill. By then I already had hope and was happy just to be able to eat small bits a day. Your videos will always remind me of the hope that still exists in even the most mundane of things. I still try to watch your newer videos but as I’m no longer sick I can actually spend time outside in the world. Some days like today I come back to listen to you as I fall asleep. Feeling that warmth of hope and familiarity still inside. Here’s to many more years of hope
The wrong moveset for Gardevoir comes from them making the assumption it would have a moveset like most trainers on routes instead of like a gym leader, Elite 4 member, champion, or other important story characters. Based on its level, those are the last four moves it would have learned in Gen VI. Still weird given they ought to know that is incorrect.
Oh my god… I have this guide still on my bookshelf, the nostalgia is real. Pokémon Y was my first personal game back in 2nd/3rd grade, and I remember looking through this guide in all of my playthroughs.
Gen 6 is only surpassed by gen 2 for me personally. The only problem the gen has is the difficulty problem so one day I hope we get a good followup game/rom hack because the region is fantastic
I mean Johtos problems are gigantic you have like 10 mons that are viable to use the game is balls easy the level curve is shit and Johto is literally half the region because of Kanto. Almost all of the new mons appear in kanto for some reason which is postgame as do the evo stones
@@Chris-fz2ui The "10" mon issue is because "everyone" collectively seemed to forget how to read or use their pokedex' or be for about the adventure. The majority of pokémon fans were kids so it was expected in later generations they were going to make more mons "available" to catch. There's Girafarig above Mahogany town. Tyrougue & Marill in Mt. Mortar. Chinchou in the starting town & many other routes and cities (with good rod I think 5% encounter rate). Magmar in the burned tower & Magnemite in route 38 right next door. Ursaring (gold), Skarmory + Donphan (silver) below blackthorn city on route 45. Corsola in olivine city as well as krabby, staryu, and shellder (usually just roll with totodile as my water type or pick up chinchou or poliwag). Heracross through headbutting everything to oblivion as well as pineco. You actually had to *think* in this generation to build a decent pre- elite 4 team (majorly due to GF' bizarre regional roster placements like *NO* dark types in johto except umbreon if you slow creep the pokémon league like really Gamefreak? 😕). Even still with gen 2' cut-n-dry problems, if it weren't for these games... Pokémon would have ended right then and there.
@@fgetsuga0 3 of the mons you listed are gen 1 mons and most of them aren't even viable like come on are you going to be using a corsola? Also the fact that you were able to summarise every catchable pokemon in one paragraph just proves my point
@19:35 While not “Nintended”, you can use Bone Rush, and if you get 3 hits, Korrina doesn’t get to take a turn. It’s RNG, but after a few tries on various playthroughs, I finally managed that on my recent playthrough because I though it’d be an interesting challenge to attempt a no damage battle for the fight. Love the video, PaPaSea!
Man I actually love these games compared to most people. The region and game were so beautiful and I have so many memories just having fun. Definitely one of the easiest Pokemon game but at the same time, these games are just pure fun.
This one is especially funny to me, considering beating XY with a guide is like using a guide to walk down a straight hallway that already has staff guiding you forward and signposts plastered on every wall. xD
X & Y were awesome. It was the generation that really got me back into the series and I actually cared to complete the National Dex. Not to mention they simplified EV training which was a huge bonus imo
I get it because none of the city names are actually spoken, but as someone who spent 2 years in a French class it’s so funny hearing you butcher the pronunciations
I really enjoy how different things from the previous Nintended videos have influenced your scripting such as "hammer away" and "type trumping". Also Romulus the Lucario has made a showing in every Nintended video since the first time you used him.
Jesus that strategy guide footage is a shock to the system it’s just weird but cool seeing the guide again. I had that strategy guide when I Got Pokémon X back In 2014. I unfortunately got rid of it, my oras, and black and white 2 guides years ago. I haven’t gotten a Pokémon strategy since base sun and moon. So getting to see these strategy guides through videos is pretty cool. Anyways have a nice day.
You know theres tons of great gen 6 mons that i absolutely love, like Pangoro, Goodra, Hawlucha, and the legendaries.... And then there's gogoat, who i forgot existed
Gen 6 improved my life it was the only Pokémon game that made actually wanna interact with people both online and irl I managed to talk to someone that was willing to give me the version exclusive Pokémon and together we completed the pokedex that person eventually became my boyfriend thank you game freak for such a life changing game
the reason the guide says Laverre Town isnt a good vacation spot is actually pretty interesting: its supposedly locked in one season all year round, and the clock face has thirteen hours on it, without any npcs seeming to realize that such a clock would be one hour later every twelve immediately. this suggests that theres something supernatural about the town, fitting of the alien-lookin fairy-tale gym leader i think the implication is that whatever is causing the supernatural events is not ENTIRELY safe, so for normal people who arent immediately at home there, it could be potentially hazardous to remain there for an extended period unless you intend to move there
At 39:26, if you read it, it says that a Gardevoir at the level that Diantha had hers would have those moves, since those are the most recent moves, not the moves that her Gardevoir specifically has

I had to go outside to the park to excercise first. I eventually got to playing it and I was shocked how good (at the time) the graphics looked for a pokemon game
Same Pokémon x will always be my favorite it’s the first Pokémon\video game I played and I was instantly hooked
Funnily enough, XY was the first Pokémon game I truly despised for how it's designed. Even the insultingly easy HGSS didn't make me feel so... _spiteful._ xD
Only felt that same way about USUM and SwSh - only those three got me legitimately _angry._

I think they released this guide before the actual game came out? I think the only reason why some Pokémon were actually on it was bc they were featured in the trailer of the game while the other ones didn’t appear on it so they probably wanted the customer to react to new Pokémon, idk it’s just a guess tho.
I kind of remember that yeah, I think my guide came a little bit before I got the game itself lol
X and Y are also my favourite modern Pokemon games. They're just bursting with features, beautifully animated and filled with fun Pokemon to catch and train.
i really like gen 6 being easy for the purpose of being able to use first and second stage pokemon that never had a chance on my teams in older games
I personally liked the XY games since i truly did have a lot of fun playing them but i feel like it was a game that had too many ideas so a lot of things ended up not getting the proper attention they deserved. It just feels unfinished as opposed to some other games.
I agree, Team Flare especially makes little sense.
What sucked was the post game, Despite having a cool looker side story, The post game legendaries kinda sucked, Especially Since that Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire Had like 30+ legendaries.
Yes, I also thought they were unfinished. I still wonder what the purpose of Zygarde is.
@@DeepdelverChespin oh ORAS such amazing nostalgia
@Mitchell skates yay 👍🏼glad it's getting recognition for what it really deserves :)
Idk about you peeps, but I always find it weird that they introduce Diantha as a movie star and not the champion. I would care a lot more about her if I knew she was the champion as opposed to just a movie star
Well, I don't believe Cynthia or Steven were introduced as Champions. Then again they are cooler than Diantha so....
@@castform7 True, but they also both introduced as trainers and are, like you said, much cooler than Diantha.
That’s one of Gen 6’s giant flaws- the characters are awwwwwful.
Pokemon only started to have decent post games in ORAS tbh.
Beat pokemon sword as intended next, because I think no one knows how to play it correctly because we all spend 100 hours in the wild area.
@Solstice of Snow gen 8 has its priorities straight
I still can't believe one time it said you have to lay down the law
Bro you gotta make these pokemon serve their time there is capital punishment in the pokemon universe.
The Wild area sucks. It’s about as empty as Hyrule Field in Ocarina of Time. It just doesn’t have the excuse of being made 20+ years ago.
@@jamesbrincefield9879 Dumb argument. Era made has no equivalence to quality in a game.

My team was Delphox, Venasaur, Swanna, Manectric, Lucario, and I can't remember the final one unfortunately
Gen 6 is the game that I have the most reset files on, mostly when I started trying nuzlockes, though I only ever *almost* finished them. Cant remember what my first or early teams were, but it never got old whenever I started a new file.
When I played pokemon Y my team was: Charizard, Lucario,Yveltal, Mewtwo, Espeon, Lapras,
I placed my Greninja at the pokemon daycare to breed a shiny Froakie

Gen 6 was a great gen ( only in pokemon design )
Yea, I agree. I personally think the story is great, and X/Y would be much better if it was followed up by Z, which would drag out the story more and make the games harder, like Platinum to D/P, or Emerald to R/S. Also, the designs for the Pokémon are fantastic.

Have you played Gens 1 - 3 yet?
(You can buy Gold, Silver or Crystal on the e-shop)
I started when Gen 1 was released as a Kid Gen 2 was my peak years of being into pokemon and 2 was my last Gen until Gen 7 with All that Gen 1 and 2 nostalgia references in 7. I feel WAAY too old for Pokemon at 30
I love this series, it's the catchphrases for me. You laid down the law against Diantha.
Nice! My favorite gen! I hope that they’re are also gen 7 and 8 guides because that would be AWESOME
thx for the heart PaPaSea!
I love that you incorporate the odd phrases from other guides into your script such as hammer away, etc
Once again, it is time to "hammer away"(TM)
Plot twist: Mr.bonding is the main antagonist
This was the last Pokémon game I ever played but I don’t remember anything about it. Megas were tight though
Yay, my favorite game in the series!
Despite that, it's one of the few I never owned a physical strategy for, so this guide is actually all new to me, and it seems really well done, too... aside from them likely being unable to get the official source illustrations by the time the guide needed to print xD
That is understandable, however, since XY was the first game to get a simultaneous international release, so they couldn't exactly borrow from any Japanese guide books or anything
Also somehow got unsubscribed from your channel which I just noticed
:( that makes me sad
gen 6 isn't bad, its just that kind of "i beat this game once fully and never gonna replay it ever again for the rest of my life" kind of game :)
Forget about the strategy guide, the gen 6 pokedex book is the true gen 6 book
The deluxe essential handbook?
I loved that book, I think it's still somewhere on my shelf.
When I played Pokemon X and Y randomized clicking on the Wii U gave me dialogue about fossils, and I've truly never laughed harder at a video game.
X and Y was my return to Pokémon. Great video PaPa!

Same here. #1- Johto #2- Kalos #3- Hoenn

That Admins are weird in X and Y because they're just another Trainer class like the Grunts. The real Admins are the Scientists.
X & Y were awesome. It was the generation that really got me back into the series and I actually cared to complete the National Dex. Not to mention they simplified EV training which was a huge bonus imo

Gen 6 improved my life it was the only Pokémon game that made actually wanna interact with people both online and irl I managed to talk to someone that was willing to give me the version exclusive Pokémon and together we completed the pokedex that person eventually became my boyfriend thank you game freak for such a life changing game
2013 holy crap time flies...
Tell me about it. I met a kid who was born that year.
the reason the guide says Laverre Town isnt a good vacation spot is actually pretty interesting: its supposedly locked in one season all year round, and the clock face has thirteen hours on it, without any npcs seeming to realize that such a clock would be one hour later every twelve immediately. this suggests that theres something supernatural about the town, fitting of the alien-lookin fairy-tale gym leader
i think the implication is that whatever is causing the supernatural events is not ENTIRELY safe, so for normal people who arent immediately at home there, it could be potentially hazardous to remain there for an extended period unless you intend to move there
hm those 3ds graphics are holding up pre well
The transition to the advertising was deam well smooth
i "moved really fast" when i saw the notification for this video.
The catacombs of Paris are mostly unmapped, so you can have a secret base rather easily if Lumious has catatcombs
At 39:26, if you read it, it says that a Gardevoir at the level that Diantha had hers would have those moves, since those are the most recent moves, not the moves that her Gardevoir specifically has
