I think the reason for the division is that X and Y released after BW, which had the best story of any game in the series, and BW2, which is the most fun game in the series.
honestly i feel very positively about x/y! i think it was tough as a follow-up to black & white so it received lots of criticism. even though going back and playing b/w you end up trapped in similar tedious situations of too much dialogue and exposition between things you do. i just have very fond memories of x/y, especially because it was the first time pokemon trading and online stuff was readily available to me. Something I loved in pokemon black and white was that you got a lot of interaction with the gym leaders throughout the story, and that interaction is missing in X and Y
I remember EXACTLY how I felt when I first played X and Y and EXACTLY where and what I was doing when I played it. One thought stuck with me: "This doesn't feel like a pokemon game this feels like a nintendo game." For me, this was the first generation that felt too commercialized and overly sanitary. There was something about the characters, the pokemon, the story, that was more Mario or Animal-crossings-esque especially when compared with Pokemon BW or DP. I personally really enjoyed X&Y, and replayed it a few times after, but definitely not as much as I replayed the previous generations. It felt more plastic than the generations before it. 0:00 Starting a video with that line HURTS. I remember going and buying a 2DS with Pokemon X on release with one of the guidebooks, and to this day, is one of the few Pokemon games that I haven't gone back to play to completion. I guess I just remember all of the bad and almost none of the good - I much prefer Gen V and IV to any of the Gen VI-VIII games, but that's probably due to nostalgia and having less to do when I was younger vs when I got into Gen VI and VII; I didn't even get into Gen VIII until Mid 2020, and by then I was so caught up in working that I rarely played it, and it took me more than a year to complete. It amazes me sometimes how fresh and challenging some of the older games can be with just a couple of self-implemented rules, but in order to really challenge yourself in the post Gen V era, you need much more to make it difficult. Thanks for reading this long comment, sorry for the time that I wasted.
Pokemon Y was the first Pokemon game I actual owned because up until that point I was playing my sister's copy of Pearl or Soul Silver ( I did own Pokemon White though but I can't really remember anything about it or what my team was ), until playing Y I was only ever interested in the anime and enjoying the look of the cards. Though I remember when I was younger my mom had gotten me Y because she saw I had a interest in the series so I got it along with a 3Ds and I remember getting HOOKED by the look of the region and seeing the Pokemon in 3D It was also the same region my favorite Pokemon Sylveon comes from! Even though some people are mixed on the game or it's story It will always be one of my favorite Pokemon games and I can't wait to play Z-A when it drops
Pokemon XY's first two gyms are like peak Pokemon for me. I don't know why I love it so much, but the pacing and story just gives me so much nostalgia and grace
Brother, I love all of your videos. I rewatch them like it’s an addiction. Keep them coming man. This one was excellent, superb, amazing, insane…..synonyms!
So I did a bit of research and it said 1000 Pokédollars is around 10 US dollars, so yeah I’m pretty sure it’s normal that the butler or whoever the person was, actually was correct to assume a teenager would have 10 dollars, so really it wasn’t all that bad
X and Y is the only game I haven't fully played through. Not only am I excited to see a Gentlevideo, but now I have motivation to play it! Thank you you beautiful, humble man!
As a kid, I remember the XY main story as busy but fun. I like running into the rivals so often, it really makes it feel like you're on the journey with other people! The world feels alive in a different way than in other games. It can get a bit annoying for sure, but each character representing a different way to play the game was a lot of fun for me too
Can I just say. I love the editing skills. It has gotten a lot better and more advanced sense you started. You were always good at this though. Also love the way you incorporated the face cam.
My favourite part about X and Y is that because it’s in a different timeline a massive war made a geologist and a pirate pick the matching rock that goes with the legendary
The thing about what I like the most about XY is the huge amount of Pokemon in its regional dex 456 entries for a 3DS game, and still having the national dex programmed. Every play through feels different
X is definitely an important game for me, as it was my first Pokémon game. It’s definitely easy, but I spent so much time on it and had plenty of fun. Nice to see people going through it.
Tbh having to walk around alot and having to visit different places for the plot makes so much more sense than staying in the new area you just got to. Because that way it's always "Oh what a coincidence that you decided to set your secret hq in the new dicovered city I just got into! Oh no way that there is a meeting of all vice admirals with the boss. What a coincidence again that you decided to have a meeting at the exact time that I got here. Thanks for making it so easy". I hope you get what I mean. That way is just very unlogical and also improbable...
X and Y have very special places in my heart. When I was really little and moving into my house with my mom and her boyfriend (now husband), he let me play X on his 3DS to spend the time as my mom painted the rooms. This game, despite its flaws, is special to me. Also, fun fact! In the anime, Olympia’s fight is a double battle, with two meowstics. A male and a female
I remember when my uncle bought me this for my seventh birthday and this introduced me into Pokémon. He bestowed on his generational knowledge of the pokemon world unto me. This brings back so many memories
ive got nostalgic rose coloured glasses on for these games. x was my introduction to the entire pokemon series, i was given it when i was 8? years old and it blew my mind, i have hundreds upon hundreds of hours in it - id never seen any games like it at the time, i spent hours choosing my hair colour and style and trying to get into the designer clothes shop, i spent so long finishing the postgame and doing online battles, it was such a fun time . in retrospect its an easy game and other games in pokemon have a lot more challenge and heart, but i still like these ones
First of all, just found this channel & video. Great video, great editing. Subbed Second.. it’s funny that I found this video as I recently did a similar “I havnt played this game since release” play through. My method of making the game more fun/attempt challenging (without turning off the exp share) was using a rotation party. 1: Greninja 2: Beedrill 3: Talonflame 4: Venesaur 5: Furret 6: Toxicroak 7: Scrafty 8: Aurorus 9: Dugtrio And tried to give each a backstory and personality. Was a fun time trying to entertain myself in my adulthood.
I remember that release day so well. It was a blustery cool morning, I was curled up in a blanket. I’d gone to bed early to be as alert as possible for the next morning. My mom even let me stay home, and offered to go get my pre-order from GameStop after grocery shopping if I gave her the pre-order’s receipt. I was watching some 4Kids cartoons eagerly waiting till she got back, and then I had a blast playing X & Y with my cousin for the next several months. I miss those days a little 😌
The Looker missions are so fun! I used to save my game right before I started them, play through all the chapters, turn my game off and replay them again. Haha! Looker is my favorite Pokémon character.
I never understand why people do not like X and Y i love it. The only thing is the amount Dialogue was annoying for first and second gym. Love ur new videos

Thanks for reading this long comment, sorry for the time that I wasted.
loved this video , X&Y are easily my favourites because i feel like you can just enjoy the story without the game being overly difficult!
its an interesting one for me.. i dont know where i'd place it, but i absolutely had fun
18:33 "I saw in Shawna's eyes that she wanted to touch my butt-" *video buffers*
What an.. awkward pause after a crazy sentence that was- 😅
Pokemon Y was the first Pokemon game I actual owned because up until that point I was playing my sister's copy of Pearl or Soul Silver ( I did own Pokemon White though but I can't really remember anything about it or what my team was ), until playing Y I was only ever interested in the anime and enjoying the look of the cards. Though I remember when I was younger my mom had gotten me Y because she saw I had a interest in the series so I got it along with a 3Ds and I remember getting HOOKED by the look of the region and seeing the Pokemon in 3D
It was also the same region my favorite Pokemon Sylveon comes from! Even though some people are mixed on the game or it's story It will always be one of my favorite Pokemon games and I can't wait to play Z-A when it drops
X and Y was my first ever Pokemon Game and i fell in love with Froakie, who is my favorite Pokemon ever since
the kissing pic killed me! and that watchog is so cool :D i love the colors the shiny has
Pokemon XY's first two gyms are like peak Pokemon for me. I don't know why I love it so much, but the pacing and story just gives me so much nostalgia and grace
Been waiting for another long form video! Always love these and your combination of pacing and humour!
This was the most I've enjoyed a pokemon video in years time to binge a ton of your vids this is amazing
Im obsessed with your content. Currently binging every one of your videos
38:50 love the "Mustang to his Sally" cod zombies has to come back in full swing this year.
LOVE to see the face cam my guy!
Absolutely love your content despite taking a break from the 3ds/switch pokemon games😅😅
So entertaining😁😁
Not only did you go through the grueling task of 100%ing Pokemon XY but you made the entire video of it entertaining the entire way. Earned a sub
thats awesome! thank you :))
this was super entertaining and the jokes you were slipping in their were great 😂😂
Brother, I love all of your videos.
27:07 you can see Eternamax Eternatus in this frame which is crazy considering it wasn’t invented yet.
Denying her Lucario should be a crime
Yes
the dude is back, hurrah
My favourite part about X and Y is that because it’s in a different timeline a massive war made a geologist and a pirate pick the matching rock that goes with the legendary
Subbed as soon as I saw your OC, never thought of a distinguished Geodude and I love it!!’ 😂👌🏼
X & Y are objectively amazing. They brought us megas, which is anything everyone cries about bringing back these days.
I have been loving watching living dex videos lately, I'm over the moon you're doing it, too!
My favourite part of the video was you naming all the Pokémon on your team after cartoon characters.
my favorite part was seeing the health bars edited over the actual battle in the fairy and grass gym! very interesting 💝
2:00 absolute facts, also the best pokemon to grace the verse. Literally became my favourite the moment i first used it
5:27 when the nerd does the whole group project
Tbh having to walk around alot and having to visit different places for the plot makes so much more sense than staying in the new area you just got to. Because that way it's always "Oh what a coincidence that you decided to set your secret hq in the new dicovered city I just got into! Oh no way that there is a meeting of all vice admirals with the boss. What a coincidence again that you decided to have a meeting at the exact time that I got here. Thanks for making it so easy". I hope you get what I mean. That way is just very unlogical and also improbable...
we shouldve been able to toggle on and off the skates because i wanted to move with the circle pad WITHOUT skating.
"It had a great post-game!"
Them's fightin' words, son!
THE WATCHOG MOMENT WAS INSANE. I found a full odds shiny Cubone in Glittering Cave when I replayed this game last summer and lost my mind
Coming back STRONG with a top-notch video 💯 Great to see you again, GD!
Subbed
Second.. it’s funny that I found this video as I recently did a similar “I havnt played this game since release” play through. My method of making the game more fun/attempt challenging (without turning off the exp share) was using a rotation party.
1: Greninja
2: Beedrill
3: Talonflame
4: Venesaur
5: Furret
6: Toxicroak
7: Scrafty
8: Aurorus
9: Dugtrio
And tried to give each a backstory and personality.
I miss those days a little 😌
“I’m only scared of one thing… Women.” Same Sir Dude, Same.
The Looker missions are so fun! I used to save my game right before I started them, play through all the chapters, turn my game off and replay them again. Haha! Looker is my favorite Pokémon character.
7:59 I know the number is big but poke dollars are suppose to be yen so in us it’s 6.22 dollars
Glad to see you posting again after the donothon! hope the window got fixed handy and your eye + athena are all okay
Man it's great to see you again, i hope everything sorted itself out with the widow from donothon. Can't wait for more.
Insanely high quality video!
I never understand why people do not like X and Y i love it. The only thing is the amount Dialogue was annoying for first and second gym. Love ur new videos
