It's interesting to see how over the years the quality of the guidebooks really improved. The earlier guides were almost a joke with all the mistakes and typos, but it seems like they really cracked down on it in later years. It's too bad guidebooks are dying out. I always loved getting the guidebook with a new game.
My mom got me one as a prank. She gave me one for Halo 2 a month before Christmas. I didn't own an XBox and assumed we were too poor to get one. I have a mixed view on strat guides, 😆
To be fair, vending machines are really good healing sources in the early game, they are basically potion sellers but at a discount, and without the downsides of using herbs
Soda-pops should have a downside effect of "fattening up" your pokemon, making them slower, sluggish, and heavier, as a temporary debuff that can stack, but also increasing their physical defense (fattening up) and speed (caffiene) as a small buff.
@@soumyadeep676 they are bitter and cause the pokemon to have less friendship. It's only really important if you are working on a mon with friendship evolutions
ORAS actually made me enjoy gen 3 for the first time really because it got rid of some of the worst backtracking sections by just giving you the option to travel off screen with your rival basically. Also made the water sections more enjoyable because if I had to name one thing I've never liked in Pokèmon it's long water sections and that's kind of gen 3s whole thing. I also enjoyed the fuck out of flying with Latias/Latios instead of normal flying for some reason. All in all a good remake in my opinion but the battle area should have been there for sure.
24:05 - This actually may have been written before the games were complete. In the original RSE, the Red Orb was _supposed to_ control Kyogre, and the Blue Orb for Groudon. It kinda made sense to me, given that their markings in the title screens flashed red and blue respectively, but the leaders goofed and got the wrong orbs in gen 3. Nintendo switched which Orb each leader picked up for ORAS, however, so they got the right ones.
I wonder how the original ruby and sapphire guide would hold up in omega ruby and alpha sapphire. Could be interesting to see the hijinks and all the differences.
People don't give Aqua and Magma enough slack. They're always called out for having a dumb plan, when they're probably the most reasonable ones. Maxie wants to make way for more land in order to increase the world's progress whilst Archie wants to flood the world and return it to its original state where pokémon could freely thrive in the wild without any human interactions. Definitely more reasonable than wanting to kill everybody and restart the world because you're just not very happy... Cyrus.
I fucking hate how that couldn’t happen with Gen 4 remakes. Hoenn fans should be thankful they’re remakes are good. Since Gen 8 games are gonna be shit.
I absolutely love these videos. I haven't been able to play all of the pokemon games growing up so its cool to see how the game is meant to be played and get the back info that you provide. Keep up the great work.
Yes! These were my first games (I got into Pokémon pretty late), and I cannot listen to the Petalburg Woods music without drowning in nostalgia (both the original and remake tracks). Best Pokémon remakes that I've played! (Keep in mind I haven't played HGSS past the second gym and that was years ago, so I'll hold out on that)
Thank you so much for this video. ORAS was my first Pokémon game and I grinded it to death. I haven’t seen this game ever since I began my teenage years
This guide isn’t wrong about Beautifly being a good choice. I used one on a recent Alpha Sapphire playthrough and it was actually amazing. Even before I got quiver dance, it was still an MVP team member.
I've learnt two things from this video: you can buy from the vending machines in Brawly's gym, and the guy who wrote this loves vending machines. He'll be in paradise in Tokio, then.
I loved AS. First playthrough I got shaking grass early on and found a Lotad with GIGA DRAIN! I had Torchic as the starter so had amazing coverage before gym 1.
I feel like you're going to pick up new odd turns of phrase from every video that you do until a year from now the entire video is cobbled together from code and running jokes.
15:04 would have been an *incredible* transition into a security-related sponsor, omg. here's hoping there'll be one in your future that you can weave in just as cleverly!
I presume that the guide suggested to use Nincada to fill the role as the Pokémon you can send out to resist the electric attacks while you heal your team for free in the case that you did not choose Mudkip as your starter. Kind of the same role that Bidoof fills in the Diamond&Pearl games.
Yes Colorado is high, but a lone volcano being 5’000 feet is what’s impressive. Mountain that get that talk eventually blow their tops off and get shorter, because a ton of complicated science stuff
Man, I had a really good time watching through this entire playlist. It’s super-interesting to watch a play through in this style it’s really refreshing and original. Thank you for dedicating your time, can’t wait to see more!
I honestly have been really nostalgic for this game and wanting to play it again so this really scratches that itch for me (since my cart was in the faulty batch that were susceptible to failing) by watching you do your standard Nintended challenge. These videos are always very fun and keep up the good work
This strategy guide written by Beautifly and Makuhita gang. Use Beautifly and Makuhita! I would also like to believe the writer of this guide somehow managed to sweep Watson with only a Nincada.
Considering how powerful Alakazam and how early one can have one as well as getting an Alakazamite super early I'm surprised the guide didn't just say use it
No idea if the mix up on the Red Orb/Blue Orb in the voice over is intentional, but Maxie/Archie grab the proper orb in these games. They do grab the wrong orb in the original games, hence why I'm not sure if it's intentional.
That is very cool. Also now i want my own copy of the handbooks, they tend to be wrong at times but i enjoy reading for one and for 2 i would love to read it because of the interview and i mainly like behind the scenes content
I want to see a Papasea intended ORAS video next! Edit: 1. For the Hoenn starters, my favorite currently is the Mudkip and Swampert duo. However, back when I played Ruby as my first game, I chose it due to recommendations from Michael (MandJTV)'s video, not because I liked Mudkip. Now I do, but in the past I did not. 2. 5:53 Pistachio in Ruby and Sedo in OR. 3. 13:06 I love Nincada, but can I say how unjust it is that it doesn't learn good Ground type moves in the early parts of OR? It does learn Dig but not Bulldoze, and Dig is only available after Wattson's gym. Are you kidding GameFreak? Also I like Nincada leagues more than it its evolutions. Bug-Ground is an appealing typing, and it has high Def. Not having a good Ground move is admittedly frustrating against Wattson though. 4. 23:08 This guide map is actually useful because the map on Bulbapedia really blurs out some of the passages and paths in the Safari Zone with its citenotes.

If I'm not wrong mega evolution is a completely new timeline disconnected from the gigantimax era so the gigantimax is the original timeline where as x and y or anything with mega is a different timeline
Sea with the MDB reference. “In our case the root fossil, because I know someone’s gonna ask me.” Is very similar to “on the way there, I took the root fossil. Would have also loved to see the Delta Episode as Nintended.
First thing I noticed about the guide was that it used the r/s/e art for the starters instead of the updated art made for the remake
This was great. I loved Wally's battle theme when he battles you at Victory Road. Also, i love how Papasea always say "2 shakes of a lambs tail."
Idk why but these videos give such a calming feeling. I used to binge watch them last year when I’d get anxious over stuff
