- In this video I show how to replace the crankshaft position sensor (CPS) on a nissan VQ engine. The ECU uses the information from the CPS to control parameters such as ignition timing and fuel injection timing.
To purchase CPS follow link below: (made by Hitachi: reputable Japanese company)
Crankshaft Sensor: amzn.to/3KiRjys
Bundle: amzn.to/3IA0FVf
Symptoms of a bad CPS include:
-Check Engine Light
-Difficulty starting your vehicle
-Stalling or misfire
-Rough idle - Авто та транспорт

Good video bro short and to the point
Thanks man! 🙂
Thanks a lot ! You are appreciate my friend.
Thank you!
On my 2003 350z the battery test fine but will only start with jumper cables from a jump start from my Altima
Crank position sensor you can do it in top behind engine no need to go under the car super easy I do it with my left hand
Not this one 🙂
My infiniti g35 is doing something similar. The battery tests fine. I can hear the fuel pump clearly and no engine codes either
does it run now and how did you fix it?
wussp bro i kinda got the same issue. got an 08 z and i let it sit for 2-3 months and it only wants to crank. tried to reset the ecu, didn’t work. tried to push start it and that didn’t even work. so i had a friend/mechanic come check it out and all he did was play around with the unlock and lock button and it started up no problem.
took it for a lil 2 min ride and thought the problem was gone and parked it up. an hour or so later it just cranks
i changed the fuel pump thinking maybe it was that since i didn’t hear it at all but still didn’t start.
so now i’m thinking maybe it’s the key immobilizer since the red light is on right on top of the dash or maybe this cps sensor idk.
did you ever hear your fuel pump turn on when ever the key was in accessory mode before changing the sensor ?
Yes, I would always hear my fuel pump prime. Great question!
@@radieyevanov ok great thanks !
Could be the Immobilizer is the red security light solid while trying to stsrt
so whenever this goes bad does it cut the fuel injectors? bc i have fuel going to the fuel rail.
I am not sure. The ecu either uses it to control fuel injection or spark ignition, or maybe a combination of both.
Did it make your check engine light come on?
No engine code for me either but if one would come up it would be P0335/6 for the CPS
Hi mate, coming back to Your vid - I'm experiencing the same issue but my Z wont show me any codes ;/ I'm betting on one of the camshaft sensors or crankshaft sensor at the bottom of the transmission. The thing is that my Z probably reads crankshaft position because rpm needle is moving during crank (couldn't see it on ur vid) - but it wont start. When my mechanic is connecting obd to the ecu car magically starts without issues, then I can start it once and drive without any issues. Car completely dies when I want to start it for second time, only cranking - no starting. Hope You can at least clarify what is going on with my car because I'm out of ideas :///
Mine did not throw any codes either and acted the exact same way. I say throw a crankshaft position sensor in and see what happens. They are cheap enough to try it out. I have the link in the description I think.
@@radieyevanov yeah I found a bundle on Amazon - 3 hitachi sensors for almost 120$+ shipping to my country, in Poland OEM sensors is almost 100$ each LOL. Will try to swap sensors from a working Z just to see if that will help. Thank you very much man ✌️
@@olson9168 no problem! Keep me updated 👍
@@radieyevanov issue sorted, crankshaft sensor was indeed faulty
@@olson9168 good work mate!
I have a manual swap
And my engine won't running
Does the g35 coupe 2004 have the camshaft sensor at the same spot or?
Yup, it should. The plastic and such underneath may be a bit different but it should be in the same place on the bottom of the tranny.
@@radieyevanov oh alright thank you and yeah I’m having the exact same problem the starter turning it just cranks but doesn’t start hopefully the camshaft sensor fix it, also which one do I replace? Bank1 or 2?
@@monikasolorzano4874 bank 1 and bank 2 is for the camshaft sensors. This video is for the crankshaft sensor not the camshaft sensors. Some people replace all three but that's up to you. The crankshaft sensor is the one on the bottom of the tranny. The camshaft ones are in the front of the engine.
@@radieyevanov which ones do you mostly recommend me replacing?
@@monikasolorzano4874 the easiest one to change is the one on the bottom. I started with that one and it solved my issue so I didn't do the others. You can always do the same and take a step wise approach. If you change the crank one on the bottom and the issue is still happening then try the others.
I have the same issue, but sometimes it starts right up and runs perfectly, but today it died on me so I had to push it, then 10 min later it started. So confused, no check engine light either. 🤔
That's exactly what mine would do. Very intermittent. Start with no issues and then othertimes not start or start after many tries. No code either.
@@radieyevanov What made you go sgraight to the Crank PS? My first guess was the fuel pump, now I'm not sure. Lol
@@bobbyheenan4061 remember doing a bunch of research at the time and people reporting very similar symptoms to mine and indicating the sensor being a common culprit.
And just like yours, sometimes it wouldn't start and 10 minutes later would start up with no issue.
I would even move the car manually back or forth a foot or two to move around the teeth in the transmission that the sensor reads and then try starting it up.
@@radieyevanov Do you remember where you got the part?
@@bobbyheenan4061 www.sixityauto.com/hitachi-crankshaft-position-sensor-for-2003-2007-nissan-350z-3-5l-v6-2117001751.html
I think it was this one. There's a bunch of generic ones all over the place, even on Amazon for like 15 bucks but I don't know how great of quality they are.
I just replaced my valve covers and it won’t start. It’ll turn over. I can hear my fuel pump kick on, my battery is good, new coil packs and spark plugs. I hope it’s this sensor that fixes the issue
If you were working on the valve covers it could be the cam sensors instead...no codes?
@@radieyevanov I’m going to replace that as well. Hopefully it fixes the z
@@kadenaero I hope so.. keep me posted!
@@radieyevanov Yessir! Thank you
@@radieyevanov I just changed my cam shaft sensors and still no start
Hey my car has the same issue but it actually starts
Any idea?
@@nicolashanke8079 yeah mine would eventually start as well, just would get in spasms where it would take 3,4,5 tries before it would start. Other times it would start up with no issues at all. It was sporadic. Other starting issues usually involve either not received proper spark or fuel.
@@radieyevanov ohhh Okok cool thanks
