That'll polish out! Ha, a stick is an easy repair. I used to fly with a club member whom I witnessed, one day, take off with reversed ailerons. He immediately recognised his error, calmly continued to fly up to height, trimmed the model for straight and level flight and took the back off his transmitter, flicked the switch to correct the ailerons (he was flying the pre-computer Fleet system with microswitches for everything) and continued to enjoy his flight. Cool as a cucumber. Coincidentally, though his was an OD design, his model was very similar to your stick (before your flight, not after!).
Absolutely right! I have already repaired it and it has been flown many times lol it's not as pretty but no one is after a while lol 🤣thanks for watching!!!
I feel your pain! I just replaced the wing on my 10cc stick. Took it out flying a week ago. It is cold here in the northeast. Engine was bogging after I started it. It then seemed to clean up ok. I took off and the engine died right over trees. Plane ended up 40 feet off the ground. Good news is the only thing trashed was the wing. An easy replacement. Put the fuse back on the bench and richened the carb a tad. Engine ran like gang busters. What A dummy! I know better than that. I should have stopped and thought a moment when the engine was bogging before take off. Oh well... That will not happen again! As an aside, I also reversed the flaps and ailerons on my stick a couple years ago. Another meeting in the trees. Again, just a wing thank goodness. I think sometimes I am my planes biggest problem! lol
That happened to me! But I was using an inferior, imitation spektrum rx I got on Amazon. $20. I have NO issues, NO frame losses, etc using AR620 rx's. I destroyed a Tribute. It was correct on the stand. Sat it down, took off, ailerons we're backwards.
Bobby Forgets to check control surfaces and Jeff Forgets to Bolt Wings on! You guys make a Great Team LOL!!!! Love you guys just got to bust your Balls. What makes this even better is my Ultra Stick ARF is out for delivery today. But Truth be told it's the replacement for the Ultra Stick PNP that I Buried into the ground flying inverted over our field and put in up elevator instead of down. Lets just say yours wasn't as bad as mine. Cheaper to buy the ARF than buy the parts needed to fix the PNP.
Jeff….we’re you talking to Bobby whilst he was setting up the plane?? Dang…..reversed ailerons, who would have guessed, we all do dumb crap sometimes 🤣 at least you can admit it, thanks for sharing guys👊🏼👊🏼
Literally my first thought was ailerons were reversed! Sucks to see it. I did the same thing except it was my elevator was reversed on a hand toss Maiden so guess what happened? Haha. We've all been there before sadly
You spoke to Bobby while he was setting up his plane! Thats Rule #1 Now he Jeff'd it! Maybe because I program every receiver and setup myself, and none of that BNF nonsense, I must check my surfaces dozens of times before a maiden. Then I always check them numerous times pre-flight, and insure that SAFE/AS3X is reacting properly. I havent lost a plane this way in 2 years. I've had rudders reversed, but thats the worst problem I've had, and its seldom fatal. You guys both need to make pre-flight part of the video process, if only to set a good example 🤢
It sucks that it happened, but as you said at least it wasn't one of your edf's. Love your honest review of the mishap and teaching that anyone can make a mistake.
This is why I always take a couple different colored paint pens and color code my servo leads, plus I always do a full control check before takeoff. I even do a control check after changing batteries.
Dont feel bad bobby, Ive only done it 3 times now...... Heck i was almost able to bring the bae hawk back down after 3 revolutions of the field, Im going to practice on realflight and get used to doing it either way!!!! LOL
I would guess that every RC pilot learned this lesson about attention to preflight checks the hard way. Shame about such a beautiful model, hope you got it back to fly again. Cheers!
So I got this way of thinking. If i move the aileron stick to the left, the left aileron should wave hello to me, and the opposite of course. The reason I use this weird rule, is, I did the same as you did. Btw a little late but the fuselage is repairable.
Honest reviews mean that honestly, we all screw the pooch from time to time... Appreciate honesty over content. Which is why i sub'd your channel and un-sub'd sailors.
So, were you able to repair it? If so, how about a picture? I have a mini ultra stick that I tore the front end off of recently. Made repairs, and going to see if it flies soon.
As Elon would say, URD... (Unplanned Rapid Disassembly). Yes it happens to even the best of us; the chance we all take with our model planes, as we eventually begin to realize, they all have a date on them. Unfortunately, yours was on Day 1, Flight 1. I commend you for having the stones to put this video up that exposed your lack of attention to detail... it is a lesson not only for you, but for each one of us who watched your fateful maiden flight. Rest assured, you will never make that mistake again; I can all but guarantee that. ('cause you never say "never") You are a good man, and you will have better days. Now go back to the shop and see if you can salvage your stick. Thanks again for posting the video- I know it was painful. The last plane I lost was caused by a tiny hole worn in the smoke oil tank by a slightly protruding landing gear bolt. I had many flights on the plane. Oil soaked the receiver causing it to fail... the plane left me, well-trimmed straight and true until I could no longer see it. I was hollering at the field to my buddies "I can't control anything! It's flying away"! Made me realize why we have the AMA insurance, although the only thing it hit was the ground... eventually. Someone returned it to me because of my name and contact info inside the plane. It was about two miles away, I would have never found it on my own. My fault for lack of thorough after flight inspections when returning the plane to "the hangar". Good Luck, my friend.
Don't sweat it. The other channel i watch crashes his plane about every third video. SO much i cant stand watching him now lol. Im glad to see you crash because i was beginning to think you were superhuman! lol
Ish happens, bro we all do it. I put in a $3k jet just because l for got to set my timer. We live, and we learn. I guarantee you'll never do that again. Cheers 🍻
Yip, can happen especially when setting up at the field and other pilots want a chin wag at the worst possible time and there goes your concentration on what your doing 🙄
Bobby, I saw that you wiggled the sticks and somewhat checked control surfaces, sorry that got by you, but it was a beginners mistake and u are bigger than that. Complaceny is worse than Pride or ego, fly on
Lol 😆 🤣 😂 your taking it all wrong, the elevator servo went bad...in flight..under load...anyway, horizon already sent me a new model after They had me send in the crashed model so they could verify it for themselves. By the way, never think you're too much of a pro or beginning to have things fail on you and make mistakes 💯 👌
...bummer...carry on 👍

Ouch! Thanks for sharing it with us even though it’s embarrassing and costly. We’ve all done it and can learn from it.
Absolutely right! Many my crash can save a few people for making a simple costly mistake! Appreciate you 🙏

I destroyed a Tribute. It was correct on the stand. Sat it down, took off, ailerons we're backwards.
I've heard about the fake recievers on Amazon, too, causing havoc!!

And the DREADED "ROA" Reverse Of Ailerons......no more ROA! LMAO
Hahahaah strikes again!!!!
This stuff is hard to post sometimes. Thanks for sharing, it really pays to see what went wrong, rather than blaming the sport receiver 😉
Absolutely right! Our channel is all about 100% honest reviews not bought or pushing a product for personal gain
Good to share keeps everybody on there toes
My thoughts exactly!!! Appreciate you!!
I couldn’t say I’ve never done that. Lol it’s happened to me multiple times.
Dont feel bad man most every Rc Pilot i know has done this one time or another....
👍👏👏👏👏👏
Perhaps is just a case of increased variation of the gravitational pull of the earth?
As soon as it started I thought mmm reversed ailerons. When you said that they were not I was saying "oh yes they were!" Sorry to see it crash!
Literally my first thought was ailerons were reversed! Sucks to see it. I did the same thing except it was my elevator was reversed on a hand toss Maiden so guess what happened? Haha. We've all been there before sadly
Sheeeeeesh, like my teenage daughter would say straight dog water that sucks. It happens though 🤷🏻♂️

You joined jeff in the reversed airalon club😂
Yeahhh but this video is from last fall and he does it more lol 😆

Not a bad Idea if it works for you!!! Always good to have a backup 👌
Bobby, you shouldve blamed the king size butterfinger first😂
Hahahah it's probably didn't help lol
Dont feel bad bobby, Ive only done it 3 times now...... Heck i was almost able to bring the bae hawk back down after 3 revolutions of the field, Im going to practice on realflight and get used to doing it either way!!!! LOL
That really sucks dude! It also looks like the left flap was not trimmed @.21. It's riding high...
I would guess that every RC pilot learned this lesson about attention to preflight checks the hard way. Shame about such a beautiful model, hope you got it back to fly again. Cheers!
Thanks!
Been there , Done that Bro !! Sucks !!
I changed the receiver in my 70mm EDF Viper and got the same result from an aileron wiggle test and not doing an aileron directional test😢
So I got this way of thinking.
If i move the aileron stick to the left, the left aileron should wave hello to me, and the opposite of course.

We really appreciate you and the kind word red!! Tha k you sir.
I hate to see a plane crash. That was bad luck . But onwards and upwards.
I've had a couple of takeoffs like that - even when the ailerons weren't reversed...
😂😂😂 I'm a member of that club too!!
@@RCPlaneReviewer me too 😅
Happends to me once every second year.... I never learn.
Crap happens if you are going to fly RC you will crash sooner or latter know how good you are.
So, were you able to repair it? If so, how about a picture? I have a mini ultra stick that I tore the front end off of recently. Made repairs, and going to see if it flies soon.
It's been repaired for almost over a year and flown. Epoxy and thin CA did the trick. The best thing is it flies true👍
Wow...That happened fast. Thanks for your honesty in actually showing everything. A great reminder and teachable moment.🙃
You bet! Thanks for watching!!
OMG cry! 😭
Yeahhhh
Damnit!
Yeeeeh..those pesky reverse alerions
@@RCPlaneReviewer I did that the other day with a twisted Hobbys crack yak. Hard to hurt that foamy.
Always do your set-up at home on a work bench. Double-check control directions before your maiden. Better luck next time.
Yep!
