LYRIQUE ETUDE No. 1: an inspiring endeavour

- The watch lovers group led by Bill Sanders of the WatchArtSci UA-cam channel has commissioned a beautiful and unique piece of fine watchmaking. Let's discover it together thanks to Simon and its owner who preferred to remain anonymous.
I had a chance to get in on that watch- forever Underachieving!
Beautiful watch, it deserves more attention. Etude, I knew there would be an interesting history behind it once I heard the name.
I love the watch and I love the story of its origin.
This is a gorgeous watch. Every part of it is made by different top watchmakers in Switzerland. This is their first watch project. They are starting to do their second watch project now. They will make 100 watches in the second project. The 100 spots have already been filled and there are many others on the waiting list trying to get in. Are you one of the 100 or on the waiting list?
Maybe ;-)
Nice video mate 🥃😊
Beautiful watch but the misaligned Geneva stripes would drive me mad
Oh man can't unsee that now
Stunning piece. Beautiful. The only thing that bothers me is the way they left the remnants of the digit 8 on the dial. Why not leave it clean and clear? I don't think now I could unsee it.
I follow Bill‘s channel and found this project fascinating. I‘d love to see a bespoke dive watch with the design characteristics similar to those suggested by the boys at The Grey NATO, but at a lower price point. One thing I‘m curious about is maintenance. Who will service this watch?
A full movement service guideline is distributed to the members, any trained watchmaker can service the watch easily. In the event there is a broken part on the movement, we can order the part from manufacturer just like the regular service from famous watch brand.
Does this Lyrique watch look better in person than on TV? If yes, in what way? Thank you.
Also the color of the steel is off , looks kinda silverish. That remaining vestige of 8 doesn’t add anything to the dial , it should have not even been there during the stamping. Also the weird segmenting of the seconds track is amusing , each one is 2.5 seconds!Good point on the lugs it just looks off from every angle they are hanging in mid-air, imo the three part case design was unnecessarily superfluous. The minute hand is comically thin and lacks inspiration. For 10k I would go for something I know what it will look like when it reaches my hands, off the top of my head could go with Laine or a felix foudroyant much better options.
this screams of "designed by committee," which of course it was. the lugs cant decide if they are cornes de vache, teardrops, or normal lugs, and thus fall into an uncanny valley of bizarre design and proportion. The dial is deeply uninspired, with a custom typeface that somehow manages to look no better than a default font. The circle of the observatoire hand is too thick; look at voutilainen watches to see how the circle should be thinned or beveled. Weird mix between english and french labelling on the dial and movement, not to mention the misaligned geneva stripes as someone mentioned. this is definitely an interesting exercise as far as collector driven group buys goes, but aesthetically it misses the mark in almost every important way. when 50 collectors come together to design a watch, there is no overarching design vision, so it ends up being a boring compromise of 50 half-baked ideas.
I guess you're the person Bill refers to as a "jerk" in the presentation of the #2. You're famous 👍 :-)
@@UptickWatchReviews I just watched Bill's video and he mentions the "design by committee" comment - and I knew I read it here!
Dear Sullivan,
It's very encouraging what you say about my work, given your arrogance I don't doubt for a second that you will one day be able to propose a better watch that is not a pale copy of what you take as a reference. Then I would enjoy criticizing you in return
@@matthieuallegre6911 Hi Matthieu, I really like the case of the watch. The case is a marvelous design. Well done!
I'll take it for 500 bucks!
