Brother I have had 3 back surgeries, a foot surgery and a colon resection surgery. NONE of them compared to when I had shoulder surgery in terms of post op pain. I tore my labrum as well as snapped two tendons in my rotator cuff. When I did that, I couldn't even lift arm period until well after the surgery and in PT. Hope all goes well for you in your recovery brother. Hang in there. And at least for mine, the sling was great but the abductor made the shoulder hurt so bad with the angle they wanted my arm in to heal. THAT SUCKED!!!!!!
Oh wow man you’ve been through the ringer! Yes shoulder surgery ain’t no joke (this is my second) and it’s such a slow and painful recovery and I need it to not be slow…lol! By the way we need to get together and cook something! Love your channel!
At 60 years old (with the mind of an 18 year old) I went on FlowRider while on a Trans Atlantic crossing. The boogie board hit the wall and my ribs hit the boogie board. Felt like I broke them but they were only bruised badly. Learned my lesson!!
Wishing you a speedy recovery. Can't believe you wiped out so many times after you hurt your shoulder. You're tough as nails or had plenty of beer. I'm guessing both!
OMG Don't tell me!! At 65 I hurt my wrist a little when I banged into the back wall, but nothing serious, I've not done Flow Rider since then. I can't believe you got hurt that bad! So sorry, don't worry, you'll be fine after another cruise...essential to recovery! Poor baby, looks Nurse Alisa is a peach at helping out!
You know the expression "if you play you just might have to pay" and you have. So sorry you had to go through all of that!! Any physical therapy I've had has been seriously rough!! Take it easy and get well soon!
This is one of the reasons I appreciate you two so much. Honest and candid sharing of your experience. Humbling as it was, you had the courage to share it. I appreciate that. Looking forward to the report from your Pearl Bermuda Cruise. I'm 65 but still think I'm 25. Your experience was a valuable reminder to me. Thanks for sharing, your honesty is refreshing. You two ROCK!
I truly, truly feel feel for you Jason, you guys are my favorite travelers! You guys are down to earth and I always love watching you both. You were brave getting on the flow rider but alas as you near 50... some things are better done watching... Get well really soon, I need you to bring us more adventures!
Oh Jason. Your positive attitude will heal your shoulder! I broke mine, non-displaced 4 years ago and I flinched watching you take your sling off. i had to keep mine on for 4 weeks before i could start rehab. Still get the willies remembering how much pain I was in and I didnt have surgery.
Man how awful! Shoulder surgery is one of the most painful surgeries you can have! I’ve had 2 shoulder surgeries as well (frozen shoulders with bone spurs). Glad you’re on the road to recovery! And thank you for sharing your story!
I must say that this time you really were cruising for a bruising and it took the flow Rider to clip your wings. I admire your honesty and sense of adventure and I really hope you are on the mend and out of pain. Keep smiling Jason and you are very fortunate to have Alysa but please don't offer her your shoulder to lean on.
Wow 😮. Hope your therapy goes well and you heal quickly. We are almost 70 and think the Flo-Rider looks like fun , but I think we will be spectators and have fun cheering on everyone else. ❤️🥰🙏🏼😍🛳😉🤩
I had rotator cuff surgery Sept. 21st, 2021. I have 6 months, till 3/21 to get full range of motion and a year to be fully healed. I was just walking when I felt a pop in my shoulder. I tore the rotator cuff and the surgeon also had to tighten a ligament in my shoulder. I was told 4 weeks recovery if they went in and only had to clean out arthritis. 10 weeks recovery if they had to repair the rotator cuff. It's actually a year recovery for what they did to me. I don't think I would have gone thru with the surgery if I was told a year recovery. I'm glad though I went thru with it. Yay, Ehlers Danlos Syndrome! 🙄😬
So happy that your surgery went awesome and that you’re on the mend and that you have such a positive outlook about the whole ordeal a lot of people could take a lesson from you!
Hubby has had the same surgery from a work accident not fun. But glad your healing well . He took a long time to heal. Take care and agree get back at it
Please heal slowly and correctly! No heroic’s! We’re all older than our heart thinks. I’ve got 20 years on you. But man you blew it. Now every time I get on that flow rider my wife Mima is going to give me hell! I’m bummed for you. Note I only do the buggy board. I have one repaired, Mima has both. They can go bad again.
I’m 47 and gave up on that stuff years ago. We just don’t fall like we once did. I know someone that got seriously injured on a skateboard similar to our age. Hope you have a speedy recovery.
Sorry you got hurt, wishing you a speedy recovery. Thanks for showing some of the downsides of participating a ride that might be a little more dangerous for most and being real about it. Bad things happen however, the way you took responsibility is admirable. Hope you get back to traveling soon. This might be an eye opener for the cruise line as well. From my observation of your video, the flow rider appears to be dangerous . Thanks again for great content!
Love you guys glad you are on the mend my husband and I are getting ready for carnival pride in 2 weeks our concern is the Covid test it’s very nerve wrecking
I do not think RCCL will be using this for their promotional material! I am glad you are doing better and wish you a speedy recovery. We need you in tip-top shape for Pano in less than a month :)
You poor thing. It happens that is what insurance is for. I just tried snow boarding two days ago and I am sore today. Life is an adventure. Happy you are on the road to healing ❤️🩹
This really is a good video because many people do hurt themselves on vacations-I have two friends who broke ankles on vacations -it is good to keep in mind-We let our guard down away from home when maybe we should be more careful -Good luck with all that conquering stuff 👍🏻💪🏼
Hi Jason, So sorry that you got hurt trying to learn and have fun with the Flowrider, I am happy your surgery is successful and recopuerating nicely, I'm glad that Alisa doing great job taking care of you. I am glad you are in good high spirit recovering. So enjoy your time taking it easy and relax at home.
Alisa my husband also has the same take on doing things that might destroy a body part or two but he will conquer them, so I can relate. I love y'alls videos. Looking forward to seeing where life takes you next.
Jason, Jason, Jason.....I just turned 50 and I hit the weights like I'm still 20 and wake up everyday thinking....one day I'll learn and I don't think that Flow Rider is for me, my son will be on the Flow Rider in a few week when we get to Grand Turks, we leave for our cruise 03/24/2022 on the Carnival Magic and can't wait!!!!! Glad to see you're on the mend, cheers to you both from New Brunswick Canada!!!!
I blew a bicep tendon on RCCL Independence of the Seas on the SkyPad. I can't get into much detail due to the NDA, but I can say I pursued action and settled with the cruise line. Cost me $20k in medical bills.
Yep. When my husband was 40 he saw some kids riding their bikes and jumping ramps and he says "I used to do that!" So he jumped on one of their bikes and jumped the ramp perfectly! Then he took a bunny hop off the curb and went over the handle bars and onto his shoulder. He had shoulder surgery also.
Man! I hate it happened when you fell and you had to go through all of this when all you wanted to do was have a little fun. I hope you heal quickly and are back to 100% as soon as possible but also really have to side with your wife on staying off that ride in the future. There are other things in life just as fun that don't include the risk of another fall that requires surgery, y'know!? You are brave to post this on your channel and also showing wisdom to issue a warning to everyone who sees it to take great caution if riding the FlowRider. Thanks for the warning and take care, heal up and take it easy!
I am soooo glad to hear you say you don’t hold the cruise line responsible! You’re good people! Hope you’re back to doing all the things you love soon!
Jeez! A waiver but some insurance surely! Putting on a t-shirt with that injury and not wincing…You were a brave soldier there young man 😊 and you had a great lovin’ nurse for those dressings…
An elder told me when i was young, if it didn't hurt, you didn't do it right LMAO! I hope you feel better, man, wishing you a speedy recovery, keep that youthful spirit!!
So glad that you are doing much better Jason and I totally understand how it is not the cruise line fault about getting hurt. You get better really soon. Miss your videos and thank you for sharing. Alisa is doing a great job at taking care of you. Take care of your self and here is to fast healing.
Way to go Jason! Sorry for the surgery but you're happy you did it! I have needed shoulder surgery on both shoulders for about a decade and a half. But Im not doing I have a rheumatic disease if you don't know what that means. It's inflammatory arthritis with a stiffening spine and shoulders. So I have daily pain. But I'm afraid with those parts put in my shoulders. It was just increased my pain. I'm not out surfing like you so I don't feel I need it. But congrats glad you got er done
So glad to hear that you are on the mend! Stinks that this happened to you, but love that you are not afraid to get back on the saddle! Prayers for a speedy recovery 🙏
The Flow rider kicked your butt but now you gotta kick its butt love the attitude even after getting hurt it was all in fun and could have happened anywhere I really enjoy the content you and your family put out makes me feel like I'm there experiencing it also wishing you a speedy recovery stay blessed and keep making the awesome content and I love the music at the end of the videos
So sorry you had to go through this, take your time with the recovery process. I also have a detached biceps tendon from my third surgery on the same shoulder and it is no problem at all.

OMG Jason! Glad you're on the mend. I wouldn't dare do it. Bad back, knees and recovering from a broken ankle. I tore my rotator a few years ago and ended up with a frozen shoulder. Took months to get it moving again. Sending positive thoughts
Jason there is a BIG difference between 25 and 45 dude! You were very lucky you didn't mess up your knee as well. Total knee replacement recovery is 6 months to a year, trust me I know, I had it done 8 months ago still recovering....bone on bone thanks to the wildness of my youth! Hang in there glad you are all recovered now.
Hi Alisa and Jason! Oh my goodness! I’m so sorry you got hurt! It only takes that one time right ugh! I’m glad to see you are robotic and on the mend! Much love!
oh, sorry to hear that, hope ya recover with out any complications. hey, Alisa know you'll take good care of Jason. been watching yall for a long time, we've never cruised, but are really thinking about it. We're so excited, anguish & a little nervous. Going up the East coast to Canada love your adventures on the road, how fun take care
Bruh, go gracefully into that good night. You're a retired US Marine. Use that honor to stroke that ego. I've had rotator cuff surgery and the physical therapy is no joke. Half those guys looking good on that stand up are probably former world class surfers 😅

Should be more people like you who assume responsibility for their actions. Dude, nice guitars!
Thanks man! Im addicted
When do we get a quick tour of the guitars?
May have very well been negligence on RCCL. It isn't always passengers. But in this case, yes I see.
I bet he isn't practicing much since that surgery!!!!
@@EECCTravels good to hear.
Ouch! I went on the flow rider once and didn’t injure myself, so I thought I’ll quit while I’m ahead 🤣❤️ Wishing you a speedy recovery!
Smart! Jason is great at the boogie board… hopefully he will stick to that once he can get on again.
We have a friend who is paralyzed from one of these "rides" glad you're repaired and doing well.
At 60 years old (with the mind of an 18 year old) I went on FlowRider while on a Trans Atlantic crossing. The boogie board hit the wall and my ribs hit the boogie board. Felt like I broke them but they were only bruised badly. Learned my lesson!!

Ugg that fall made me cringe! I had a fall take out my shoulder in 2016. The pain was terrible! Im glad that you are on the mend.
We will be on Allure Feb 19th and I will not let my hubby back on the flow rider! Last time he lost his shorts and was butt naked!! Lol..
OMG Don't tell me!! At 65 I hurt my wrist a little when I banged into the back wall, but nothing serious, I've not done Flow Rider since then. I can't believe you got hurt that bad! Having fun and giving it a go is better then growing old from the sideline good for you. My husband and daughter had fun however I did not.
Man how awful! Shoulder surgery is one of the most painful surgeries you can have! I’ve had 2 shoulder surgeries as well (frozen shoulders with bone spurs). Glad you’re on the road to recovery! And thank you for sharing your story!

Sending good vibes your way for a quick and complete recovery. Keep on flowing on!
Six million dollar Jason. "We can rebuild him. We have the technology". Quick and whole healing to you.
Sending you good vibes for a successful recovery. You've got the right attitude so I'm sure you will be back to it in no time. 🌞
We limit ourselves on some things because we know that in a split second things can go south( we are a bit older and don't heal as fast ) . Hope all is going well in your recovery.
I had a bicep tendon tear and tenotomy. Only notice a difference if I try to pickup something heavy. Hang in there ...

Rest up, prayers for a speedy recovery
So sorry you had to go through all of that! Hope you're mending quickly!
Thanks for the advice…I’m ok with never ever going on that Flow rider…hope you recover ASAP.
I think being positive about any situation especially with the surgery has a lot to do with how quickly and how well you heal
I am so sorry 😢 this happened to you! Wishing you a very speedy recovery !!
Bruh, go gracefully into that good night. You're a retired US Marine. Use that honor to stroke that ego. I've had rotator cuff surgery and the physical therapy is no joke. Half those guys looking good on that stand up are probably former world class surfers 😅
Rest up & feel better!! PT is hard at times but you got this. I had Total Shoulder Replacement at age 70.
Flow rider looks tough!!
